Unless you're a large business that they can't afford to offend, do not use!! My house was destroyed in August 2021 and had to be rebuilt. The restoration company used Beard because they heard that they were reputable. No, they are not. Since it had to be rebuilt, I opted to also run network cabling in every room of the house and subcontracted Beard separately at my expense. I met with Jacob and Matt from Beard and provided a Cad drawing of what was there and what I would like to add. Then it went downhill After they finished pulling/running the network cabling I had to wait until the Restoration company finished the drywall and painting to finish my end of the setup. What was contracted was 23 runs, with 7 of those having the ends put on so I could plug things into them as soon as they were done. What I got was 18 of the 23 network cables pulled correctly to the network room, 5 of the network runs pulled "way" too short by the network cabinet where they were to go. Two of the rooms the cables were run to the outlets with excessive cable of over 6 ft or more (had to tuck that into the wall), and two rooms were pulled with only 6-8 inches coming out of the wall, with one only being 4-5 inches long. On top of that I had to redo 5 of the 7 ends that I paid for myself because they were cross wired and wouldn't work properly. I first called the restoration company and complained, but they said they would pass a message on to have Jacob call me. I also called Beard after that and left a message for Jacob to please call me. I was told Jacob would call me back. "Three weeks later" Jacob finally called me, and basically told me that because there was "confusion" that they did the best they could and that if I wanted anything "changed" it would be billable. I pointed out that I didn't request a "change", just a fix to what I paid for. He refused and said that I would be required to pay again for anything I deemed needing to be fixed, for example what I said was 5 short cables and the short ones in the wall. And on top of that they wired the 240v outlet to my brand-new Electric Range wrong, and before I even used it, they had run over 120v of the 240v over a hot neutral directly into my new Range. When I pointed this out to Jacob, he said that he thought I was going to use a "Gas" range there, even though the Cad drawing showed a 240 electric connection. Who in North American even uses 240v's for a Gas Range????
Description of Work: Home Network cables ran, and Oven shorted.

Did not hire Beard Electric. They want $55 for service call, $55 for a helper if needed, $85 an hour plus parts. I told them a helper certainly wouldn't be needed but they couldn't promise a helper wouldn't show up based on scheduling. You are at $200 and no work has been completed. For small jobs like I needed (and I would think most people from Angies List) this company may not be a good option. The person I spoke with via phone was neutral, wasn't necessarily business friendly. I would think you could schedule a job without sending a helper when a helper is not needed. That was deal breaker for me and not very logical. Why should I throw $55 dollars away!

't 'I think I gave the correct cost of service, it could have been a little less. Anyway, Beard Electric came on the dad that they said they would, arrived right on time, & the young man that they sent did an excellent job trouble shooting our problem. We definitely will use them again!
Description of Work: Checked the GFI switches that we thought weren't working. He took them apart, & checked the breaker/fuse box wires to be sure all was ok. Quick & efficient.

After making an appointment for the replacement of two light fixtures, they called and offered to come earlier due to an opening in their schedule, which I appreciated. One fixture being replaced was recessed and the dropped ceiling tile had to be damaged to get to it. Not only did he change the fixture, but cut out and replaced the ceiling tile. All the work was done promptly and he swept up afterwards. I would definitely use them again.

They were very prompt and fair. The guy put booties on his feet. He was very careful each time he came into the house. He was very professional. He traced down the problems and solved them. I was very pleased with their service. I would definitely use them again in the future.

I didn't find him so helpful on the drywall and had to redo some of it myself. He is very flexible and easy to talk to. He was very easy to work with. The cost was very reasonable. He was always here on time and very professional. I really appreciated how easy he was to communicate with, and very responsive to what I wanted to do. I would call him for any project.
Description of Work: They did some handyman projects for me. He cut a crawlspace for us so we could get into the attic. He layed down a wood walkway so we could use it for storage. He put in an electrical outlet behind my garage.

When you have a small job to do, it is often hard to get contractors to accept your work. I called Beard becausee I had seen them on Angie's List. First good thing: someone with the ability to set appontments actually answered the phone! Many small contractors don't have a regular office staff. She said that they were mostly involved with larger jobs, but she arranged for the young man to stop and do my job on his way to a larger job. He was punctual, quick, knowledgeable, and friendly. This was an extremely positive experience.
Description of Work: I needed a new electrical outlet installed in a wall. The young man did so. He also replaced a ballast in a fluorescent light fixture (I had already bought the ballast).I don't remember exactly how much I paid, but it may be that I could have found a cheaper company had I searched around. However, I was just glad to get someone who would do such a small job on short notice.

The two technicians were on time, very pleasant and polite. One, after taking down a roof panel to run some cable, discovered that a small area (10 sq. ft.) I thought was insulated was not. He offered to insulate it if I could provide the materials. I considered that very helpful and made this vendor stand out from the competition.
Description of Work: Nine fluorescent lighting fixtures, three wall switches and 3 outlets installed in basement. Porch light mounted, motion-detector floodlight mounted, xenon under-cabinet kitchen fixture replaced.

My elderly mother-in-law's electrical service was pulled away from her house by a falling limb during an ice storm. The contractor sent someone to survey the damage and estimate the cost. They then scheduled the work, made arrangements with Duke Energy to turn power off, made arrangements with the New Albany city inspector to inspect the repairs, then had the power restored. They handled the job without my having to be there. I felt I got fine value for the money and would definitely recommend them. They are licensed to work in the City of New Albany.
Description of Work: Replacement of electrical service at the side of the house. Included replacing all exterior components including the electric meter. Involved coordinating with Duke Energy and City of New Albany building inspector.

They cleaned up after themselves. Lights worked. They were pretty knowledgable and efficient. They were higher than a previous estimate but I think it was because they had 2 people do the work.

The fellow who did the work was quick and did a good job. He was courteous and professional. He answered questions in a clear and helpful way. Beard Electrical charges $45 to come to a site, and $70/hr, but he only charged half an hour because it only took a few minutes.
Description of Work: They replaced a light switch.
