Mike Bird came to our house and performed a thorough inspection of our basement and exterior foundation, including gutters and down spouts. He also discussed each finding and recommendation with us and made sure that we understood the alternatives. Mike also prepared a proposal for the items needing attention. He was prompt, courteous, and very knowledgeable.
Description of Work: We had ARW inspect our basement/foundation as part of an Angie's List Big Deal.

The inspector, Luke, was great. He examined the outside foundation and walls of the house and then did an inspection of the crawl space. He took pictures of all the areas and showed me everything he had found. We did not need any work done to the foundation or crawl and the water backup had not done any damage. They recommended that we have the old vapor barrier removed and replaced. We ahd been told the same thing when we bought the house 18 months ago. Once we decided to do the vapor barrier ARW was able to schedule a crew to come out the next day to install. They did a great job, answered all my questioned and cleaned up everything. They were very honest and up front about everything. They could have easily tried to tell me we needed more work than we did but they did not - they told and showed me what it looked like and did not try to do anything unnecessary.
Description of Work: ARW did an inspection of the crawl space to determine if there was any water damage, standing water, mold or any other water related problems. The only issue they found was that a new vapor barrier was needed. There had been water in the crawl space due to an old well breaking and sending water into it so we did not know if there was any damage to the foundation or crawl space.

I appreciate the kind words this member has shared about our company! Positive feed back is GREAT. As the Managing Partner of ARW I use this in meetings with the staff. It helps everyone on board, keep in mind that every action we take when dealing with our customers has a direct effect on the future of our company. I promote with my entire staff two characteristics that in my opinion are at the top of any list: 1. HONESTY. 2. None agrresive sales ( By the way if I thought any of members on our staff was missing in either of these important characteristics, they wouldn't be part of our staff ) In this case it looks as if the member recognized both of these characteristics in Luke. WE just simply aim to find out what is going on ( Sometimes nothing ) and share with the member what we believe to be the best options to repair or service if needed. We will never try and sale more than what is needed and you will not get those pushy call backs that some company's do on a daily basis. We may follow-up with a call or email a few times over a week or month to answer any questions that may have developed. Thats ALL! I look at it this way, members on Angie's List are smarter than the average bear, thats why they are hear to begin with, they want the best. After we do our intial inspection and estimate, members are qualified to make their own desicions without a pushy salesman calling all the time. If you have a basement, crawlspace, foundation, or restoration issue give us a call. We'll shoot straight with you. You have my promise. Sincerely, Mike Bird, Managing Partner Advanced Restoration & Waterproofing, LLC ( 317 ) 358 - 6178 arwbuildsitright.com

To pay $50 to have them look at something that they did not even specifically inspect seems like a waste of money. I would not advise to have them do this inspection for this amount of money.
Description of Work: They were supposed to inspect the crawl space and make a list of anything that needed to be done to bring it up to proper specification. They did not go into the crawl space. They walked around the backyard and went over the check list but did not specify inspect the inside of the crawl.

Obtained discount from Angie's List to have 14 point inspection of foundation/basement. Contacted company who promptly scheduled a date and time that fit my work schedule. Inspector was prompt, took his time in going through check list. When he left, we felt much better about the status of our home.
Description of Work: Needed professional to assess potential water infiltration issues with basement. Received complete, thorough and explainary review of home's foundation and need of diverting water away from home through extension of down spouts. Very pleased with service and would recommend them.

About 2 months ago I purchased Angie's List Big Deal for crawlspace inspection and mildewcide treatment. Inspection was done on April 23, recommendations were to replace the sump pump pit, replace vapor barrier, and clean out debris. Also a leak in a pipe was noted probably from furnace drain. Inspector Luke contacted the owner Mike with his recommendations. I then talked with Mike who said his crew might be able to come out in 2 days to get the job done, since they were working in the area. They showed up on that day and first checked the leak. Actually found 2 leaks and fixed them at no extra charge. Did the rest of the contracted work in less than half a day with several crew members working. After they finished, I checked the crawlspace and everything looked good. I would recommend this company mostly for prompt and professional service.

Mike had excellent communication with me before, during and after the project. Wish that all contractors had his communication skills and willingness to listen to their customer. The work was done when scheduled and Mike went over the finished work with me and made sure everything looked good. We've had 2 modest rains and so far no water has come in the basement. Hoping it holds up and fixed my issue during the next downpour. Go with these guys. They treat you right.
Description of Work: I was having water leak into my basement when it rained. It was a slow trickle in but seemed to be getting worse. I had Advanced Restoration & Waterproofing come out to inspect the situation. Mike Bird, the managing partner came out to do the inspection and answered all of my questions and gave me a plan of action. He recommended installing a high performance drain tubes under my driveway to help collect rain water and channel the water away from my house. He also recommended a different tube to run water out off my gutters as the old one was perforated and could potentially be causing or adding to my drainage problems. I also had them install another drain near my front porch and run it out and under my walkway (where it previously had been collecting on my walkway and causing breakage in freeze and thaw cycles.)

It's been really great working with these members. I have did all I could as contractor in helping these folks out. Over the years my company has done alot of restoration work that has been covered by insurance. So as you can well imagine I have a pretty good grip on what most insurance companies "do" and "do not" cover. The damage done to their home by water most certainly should have been covered to the tune of about $4,500 - $5,500.00. However, Travler's Ins. company came up with a lame excuse and said it was ground water. Thing is the water was coming from 4' above the ground. We decided to do the work at cost to help these folks out. We can't do this all the time, but sometimes there are those special circumstances that call for someone or some company to step up to the plate. This was one of those times. We were glad to be part of the solution! Mike Bird, Managing Partner Advanced Restoration & Waterproofing LLC Office ( 317 ) 443 - 6893 Cell ( 317 ) 358 - 6178 WE DO THE JOB RIGHT THE 1ST TIME

Mike and the crew came earlier than scheduled; he had called first to let me know that he was on the way. The team removed the construction debris from the crawlspace, put down the encapsulation, fixed the sewer discharge crack, and sprayed the mildew treatment. I think it took about 3 hours (not sure exactly) They were able to bring in all of their supplies by way of a door directly to the basement so they did not have to track through the house. They were efficient and cleaned up the area. They took all of the construction debris with them. Before they left, Mike wanted to be sure that I was satisfied with the work. I told him that I was.
Description of Work: I bought the coupon for an inspection on my crawlspace and outside drainage from Advanced Restoration & Waterproofing. They called me to schedule because they anticipated that the coupon offer would tighten up their schedule.Mike came out about a week later and used a 15 point inspection worksheet to check the outside drainage, gutters, etc as well as the basement and crawlspace. He offered suggestions to my husband as to how we could improve the drainage to move the water away from the house. He checked the crawlspace and found a crack in the sewer discharge line and moisture on the floor joists. He offered two choices for the crawlspace. One was the standard installation of vapor barrier with the crack repair and mildew killer spray. Second choice was to completely encapsulate the crawlspace floor and walls to the sill plate along with the mold treatment and crack repair. We chose the second option.

We just completed the member's work today. When we recieved the call to do his inspection we learned that it was essential we get started and complete the work quickly. He informed our office manager the he was in the middle of having hard wood floors installed and work had stopped because they had found water in his crawlspace. We moved quickly to accommodate the member's needs. As a result he informed me today the company installing the hardwood floors will begin the installation by Friday, April 13th. Although he experienced a delay he will be back on schedule soon and will soon have his beautiful hardwood floors completed soon. I appreciate the members words of kindness. Our company works hard to do the very best job possible and leave no trace we where ever there to begin with. It's great he took notice of this and mentioned it in his comments, for which I'm thankful. I appreciate the members comments and look forward to providing services for her should she decide to have the work completed. I would also like to thank her for the HIGH GRADES she gave our company. It's always great to be in the field as the owner of ARW and spend time meeting with our customers. Time restraints no longer allow me to do this all the time, however, I'm always available by appointment. In regards to the inspection, I would just take a moment to explain, it is more detailed than what we consider an estimate only appointment. For example in the 15 point inspection we are going to cover such things as drywall cracking, doors and windows sticking, positive/negative drainage, soil type, mold level etc. We also be will be providing a grade from A through F. When we do the free estimates we provide an estimate only along with verbal counsel in regards to the issues. The 15 Point inspections are great to have along with home inspection reports if you are buying or selling a home. It's important to note as well, if a member chooses to have additional work completed as result of the inspection, we will refund the initial investment back them. WE look forward to serving more members through, ANGIE'S LIST BIG DEAL PROMOTIONS! I had a contract signed on 10/3/11. He did not complete the job he was hired to do and I filed a court order in Morgan County. He threw the debris from the soffits on the ground. He hired a subcontractor to place the new guttering up. I paid him to do so but he didn't pay her so I in the end had to pay for 2 guttering jobs. That company had to put a lean on my house because Mr. Bird didn't pay them the money. I could not reach him by phone and he would not come back to finish the job. He said he would bring a dumpster to remove the trash, he did not do so. He took some new lumber away that he bought for my job and did not return it. The job was $8373.00 and Mr. Bird did not complete. I am very displeased with the entire experience and this was unacceptable work. I am asking for $4099.00 and I paid him $8373.00 in court. The guttering was $972.00 that he did not pay.

Working with the member's was great. I appreciate the good report on our company. As the member suggested we did run into several issues on this project that were out of the ordinary. I recieved a call from the member a couple days after we had installed his waterproofing system. He said water had appeared in SE corner of basement floor. I was shocked. I notified him that I would be out right away to find out what was causing it. We checked the system by flooding it, and it was working properly. I intially thought the cinder blocks may have concrete higher in the cavities than we normally find, and possibly the concrete had just not set properly. We bore new weep holes higher and placed fans on the wet area. A few days later it rained and the problematic corner had another wet spot. The east wall had a horizonal crack in it. I thought it possible that water could some how be making its way through. I met the member and flooded the out side for about an hour. Eventually water showed through the crack. We placed hydra shield over the two walls, and installed a 25' surface drain outside. No additional cost to the Hansons. I called the member just a few days ago confirming that after a few very hard rains he had NO WATER in his basement. Sometimes oddities in jobs happen, it's important to me as a consumer to know that when I hire a company they will be available to follow through, after I pay the invoice. I carry this philsophy over into my business practice. I strive to have customers for life. This means customer service has to be second to none. If your considering our company for your waterproofing, foundation, or restoration needs, we appreciate you, and look forward to meeting with you. I'd like to thank Member for posting the report to Angie's List. I really enjoyed working with Member. When I showed up initially he showed me his issues and explained that he wanted it fixed and put back together like it had never happened. I assured him that my company could do that, and that I would need a few days to summit a bid to him. Member had a leak in two dormers that caused damage to the siding, structural wood, insulation, textured ceiling, baseboards, and carpet. Mold was also present. I submitted my proposal and he contacted me several weeks later informing me that he had settled my company, for which I'm very thankful. After completing the work Jesse said that I could use him for a reference any time and that he would refer customers to me in future for their home repair needs. I want to thank Member for posting this response. I was called out to their home investigate how they might be getting water in their basement closet. After investigating, I found in the crawlspace that backed up to to the basement, they had a sump pump with a discharge line. It was leaking into the cinder block cavity. So when it rained the pump would turn on and immediately start pumping water into the cavity and straight into the basement closet. We changed the discharge, installed a new pump, and applied a mold treatment. We are thrilled to hear the basement closet has been dry ever since. The company was prompt, they showed up when they said they would be here. They did high quality work. They also worked at a decent price. they were a very professional company.
The crew showed up at their scheduled time, kept a very clean work area, and was very organized, over all. The owner, Mike Bird, showed up several times through out the job to observe the progress, answer any questions that I had, and treated all of his employees with a great deal of respect. The work was completed within the time frame that was first explained when I hired this company, and in fact was faster! Mike followed up several times after the work was completed, for which i was very appreciative. I would recommend this company to anyone that needs the services they provide.

We called them and they came out that same day to give us an quote on waterproofing our leaky basement. The salesman took a look at the basement and took some measurements. Then we sat down and he explained to us what they would have to do to waterproof our basement, in great detail. We said OK and they started work in less than a week. The first day they had to use a jack hammer to bust up the concrete all around the walls so that they could install the weeping tiles. The second day, they cleaned out all the busted up concrete from the day before and they had made a 12 inch wide and 12 inch deep trench all around the walls of our basement. The third day, they drilled weeping holes in the bottom of the walls all around the basement and installed the weeping tiles and then put crushed rock on top of them. The last day, they installed two sub-pumps with battery back up and replaced the concrete that they had took out earlier that week with new.

The sill plate work was fraudulent. Advanced Waterproofing actual nail up boards to make it look like the work been completed. I didn't know much when I started but did some homework and found out the the house wasn't even jacked up. On the other side of the house scabs of wood were nailed in between the floor joist. The floor joist of which were sitting on the concrete block. Mike told me this was an "acceptable technique". In the pictures; new wood nailed to the old wood & cut out not even resting on the support block. I paid $8,000 for my crawlspace to be dry. Now even with a dry summer is has 1" to 6" of water laying in the middle of the crawlspace. I've had 4 contractors come out and all say this work was poorly done. I attached pictures. Mike tried to tell me this water was from condensation for my copper pipes and that I should replace them with PVC. You can't see it but there is more water underneath the "vapor barrier" than there is above it.

This issue was settled in a professional way. We installed 2 sump pumps, drainage system, vapor barrier, and completed the wood work as qouated. We did additional work ie. new crawl space openings, additional pvc work. They had a plumbing line leak and well pump issue. This caused the water to raise back over the vapor barrier. We where asked to install a fresh new vapor barrier, in which case we did. This still did not satisfy them. We showed back up on a Saturday to do a final inspection and found they had hired a contractor changing our work. We mutually agreed to move on. We choose not to collect all the monies that where agreed to per our contract.. We tried very hard to please this member. However, it seemed like an impossible task. You can find that we have other very positive referrals listed in Angie' list. We additionally have an A+ rating with the BBB, and additional referrals if needed. Please give us a call. We would appreciate serving you.
