I paid $49, and got nothing for it. I'd like a refund. Had to use another service to complete the repair work within 2 weeks of contact.

After digging back through our records it has became apparent that we dropped the ball. This members message into our office somehow was overlooked, for this we are very sorry and will be issuing a refund. We have recently hired an IT Firm that is designing a unique software program to meet our specific needs, and in the future, once this is fully implemented into our system missed call backs will be a thing of the past! Additionally, both project planning and customer service will improve as well. We are a growing company striving to meet all the needs of our customers. This is just one of the ways we are doing it. We look forward to hearing from you if you have any foundation, waterproofing or drainage issues that need attention. Our team will continue to work hard every day to earn your business and deliver outstanding service and products once we have. Mike Bird, Managing Partner

I felt this project went very well. Marty was able to give me a quick estimate and the job was scheduled quickly. The crew, led by Matt, was on time and did a great job. The work area was kept as neat as possible and there was no mess elsewhere in the house. The guys were pleasant and polite. I went over today as we had a big rain...the basement is dry!

Less than a week after the pump was installed, we noticed water in the same area. We called for them to return to inspect the area, but they took several days to come back out to the site. Once onsite, they discovered that the leak was being caused by another issue. They sealed the area and we have not had any more problems. However, we were stuck with the $5000 sump pump which was obviously not needed and wasn't effective. I don't think that they accurately assessed the issue, which led to us purchasing something we didn't need. Also, the mess they made was overwhelming. While they indicated there would be dust, they seriously understated the amount to be expected. The dust was all throughout the house (even up to the 2nd floor) and they only offered us a $100 credit on the bill. The credit maybe covered 4 hours of clearning and I'm estimating that it was closer to 10 hours worth or work.
Description of Work: Installed a new sump pump. They dug a trench into the cement basement floor and installed pipes to flow water into the pit.

ARW was extremely professional in all aspects. The owner (Mike) contacted me several times with confirmation and follow ups of work to be performed. ARW was able to answer all of my questions in a timely and detailed manner. During the installation I received text updates regarding progress which included pictures since I was not able to be at home during the installation. The crew completed the project in a timely manner and kept the yard tear up to a minimum. I would have appreciated had they gone just a bit further and pulled all the loose roots from the trenches. Since the crew wanted to completely finish they worked into the late evening. The next morning I discovered some minor cosmetic issues and a missing component that were not apparent in the low evening light. ARW responded promptly and came right out to correct the issues. One downspout drain pipe could not be buried at the time due to a shrub in the way. Mike agreed to come back whenever that shrub was removed and he would finish burying the pipe. I really appreciate the professionalism and attention to detail and doing what it takes to exceed the customer's expectations.
Description of Work: ARW installed a perimeter drain for the downspout system, a new crawl space entry, and a connection to my sump pump for drainage to the storm sewer.

It's wonderful and very appreciated to here the kind words from the member. We always share our reviews with staff. They will be very happy to read this one! We are also very pleased to have received the feed back in the additional response section. We are currently in the process of implementing an entire new software program through out our organization that will help in the area of following up with our customers after we have completed their installations. We believe this will improve our over all customer service. We look forward to being able to provide this to all of our customers in the very near future. I thought long and hard before writing my review of ARW because I knew my review would not be favorable. But in the end I felt that if it were me, I would want to know. And as far as having A ratings, you may look at MY review history and see that I am not just some hard-to-please customer. I did, however, list the price incorrectly as $375.00 on my review. They ORIGINALLY wanted $375.00 for the pump but I told them I would not pay more than $300.00 for a 1/2 HP pump. I did not "eagerly accept" an Angie's List discount or an 'ON CALL' discount (this is the first I have heard of this). And as far as an Angie's List Discount goes -- the truth is that I simply would not pay more than $300.00 for a sump pump -- ANY sump pump. This salesman WOULD NOT LEAVE MY HOUSE until he sold me something. No mention was made to me that it was a cheap Utilitech pump I was receiving; plus, I had a friend on speakerphone with me when the salesman was at my house and writing up the order. It was NOT made perfectly clear that I was not receiving a Blue Angle pump -- my paperwork just says "sump pump"! Mr. Bird was not even present during most of the dealings with me. I was never given an 'ON CALL' discount. No one ever called me to set up an appointment -- they just showed up. The salesman told me he had to check with the owner, Mr. Bird, about the Monday install, and that someone would call me. Nobody did. I gave no one permission to come underneath my house on that Monday! When the salesman left that prior Thrusday, the plan was for him to check with the owner about Monday and someone to call me back to schedule the appointment. Then they replaced the wrong sump pump even when I told them I thought it was the wrong pump they were replacing! I didn't have any problems at all with that pump until they removed it and put it back. And I found it interesting that when I asked the salesman to email me the pictures he took of my crawlspace floor joists, that the ONLY picture he could not find was of the mold he said I had..... that, and with having other professionals tell me I did not have a mold problem, didn't sound right to me. Yes, I had/have 2 sump pumps installed in 5-gallon buckets. I'll bet there are thousands of homeowners who have their pumps in a bucket of some sort. In closing, I have to say that when I hired this contractor, all I wanted was an inspection and possibly (probably) a new sump pump. I knew that one of mine had stopped working at some point because I no longer heard it running. I've gotten several estimates and I have since had a perimeter drain installed in my crawlspace by another company. The only reason I am responding back is because it is Mr. Bird who has "chosen to mix some truth with absolute falsehoods".
Description of Work: I called ARW about their Big Deal to inspect my crawlspace. I suspected one of my sump pumps in my crawlspace had stopped working.

Our staff is always appreciative of member reviews and eagerly looks forward to them. Even the ones that is not necessarily positive for ARW, because at least they are truthful and constructive in nature. This allows us, as an organization to grow and learn from our mistakes as seen through the experience of the consumer. However this member has chosen to mix some truth, which of course is helpful, with absolute false hoods. That when strung together, makes our company appear as an abject failure and incompetent. THIS IS JUST SIMPLY NOT THE CASE - as a short study of our many reviews on Angie’s List and our A+ rating with the BBB will bear witness. I would start with the price. We installed the pump at a discounted rate of $300.00 not the $375.00 that was listed in the review. (We gave them member her Angie’s List discount and an ON CALL Discount that she eagerly accepted) Additionally, the member refused the 1HP Blue Angel Pump that we regularly install but instead went with a cheaper 1/2 HP pump that we rarely install. The member was made perfectly aware of this. Two of the 4 sump pumps the member had were installed in 5 gallon buckets. All they wanted was a pump...not a proper basin with a lid to accompany the pump. They were unwilling to upgrade to a basin because of pricing. I reluctantly agreed because I thought at the time I was helping out. At the very least I rationed; they would have a running pump. This was a mistake on my part to have ever allowed. From that point, moving forward - Our policy is simply to never install another pump that does not have the correct basin to accompany it. No exceptions. The liability is too great a risk even if it would appear to help. If a customer wants to pursue this we will sale them the pump but they will have to complete the install. I reviewed our records concerning the scheduling and the contract. The member signed the contract on the Thursday as indicted in the review, she scheduled with our estimator same day for the Monday installation and because it was just a 2 hour installation we was able to insert her into our “ ON CALL “ schedule that she agreed to. The work order went out to our install team on Saturday. She became sick but received no call into our office to reschedule. If we would have we would have been more than happy to do the install on a day when she was feeling better. Our team went out knocked…no answer. Tried calling ….no answer…They called into the office for direction on how to proceed. I confirmed that the member had an outside access to the crawlspace. They had the “ON CALL “discount, and had approved the Monday installation. I gave them the go ahead to proceed. Now regarding the mold; this member essentially has a two part crawlspace. The old part of the house and the new part. The new part had mold that was visible over 70% of the crawlspace. I saw it for myself when I checked the pump. To be blunt, another contractor has accused me of lying. This offends me greatly. I along with our staff have worked hard to install the best product lines, installation processes, warranties and installation teams that the Indy metro area has to offer in our industry. Lying is not something that you will find in ARW. It’s not now, nor ever will be tolerated in our organization. I would challenge this member to have a mold testing company that is independent of a remediation company test their crawlspace. It will unfortunately be positive. So in recapping, I had seen the crawlspace. It needed following; Waterproofing, New pumps and basins, Encapsulation, the mold re-mediated. This was our recommendations. The member purchased a 10 point inspection. We performed it. We shared our findings. I would just pass this personal thought on to every member that reviews this response. My mother use to say to me, “take what people say with a grain of salt". I have always interpreted this to mean, look at the BIG PICTURE. I count it a blessing to be a part of an organization (ARW) that has worked extremely hard to have built the reputation we have. I would never do anything to jeopardize this in any way nor can I believe that any of our team would. We work hard each and every day to treat others as we want treated. I’m very sorry this member felt as if they didn’t receive the best we had to offer. So for this short coming we will work even harder. We have a simple goal….100% Customer satisfaction. We look forward to meeting you and earning your business if you have any of the issues in your home that we specialize in. Thank you for taking the time to research our company. Excellent company to work on your house. We had three companies come by for quotes (two were big names heavily advertised) and ARW was the third. Mike was very thorough, the only one that actually inspected the problem area and the quote was very competitive. When his crew came, we noticed it was only one person. Buck was an incredible workhorse, he dug a 6ft deep trench in the corner of the house by hand so he wouldn't damage a giant blue spruce with machinery. Both Mike and Buck would stop work explain the plans and progress whenever we asked. Very genuine and professional company. I hope I don't need them again, but if I do they will be the first to get my call. A++++

It's always a wonderful day when we ( ARW ) opens a new review that has the " Page of Happiness Nomination " added to it! We can't say enough thank you to the member that took their valuable time of writing and submitting this kind review. It's always great to receive feedback from our customers. These type of issues regarding structural foundation, waterproofing and drainage repairs can very very costly to pursue. In many cases these issues can be avoided all together just by doing precautionary planning and down spout installation. unfortunately this is not always the case and more extensive repairs must be made to save the structural integrity of the home or structure. It's important to keep in mind as the process begins and estimates are starting to be collected for comparison. The suggestions being offered will not always be an ....apples to apples comparison, although at face value it may seem like it at first glance. For example a member has three companies come out to give them advice on waterproofing the basement. After receiving the proposals from the three different companies the price ranges from $5000.00 to $8000.00.. wow.... what a difference! So at this point I would encourage you to start your research to find out why so much difference in cost. This would be my list of questions to ask each company. 1. What size is the sump pump, how long is the warranty, and what is the GPH capacity on a 10' lift? 2. Does the drain sit on top of the LEVEL FOOTER? I would personally stop at that point if they said yes to this. These systems are very poorly designed systems and are none for failure. I believe they was designed with only one purpose in mind.... Company profitability! 3. Is the system a deep/wide system? A waterproofing system must be able to take on large amounts of water quickly and discharge it efficiently. The system require much more labor and materials to complete thus costing more but being well worth the added value of security they provide. They typically take 4-6 days to install vs. 2 days for a footer system. 4. How far out is the discharge buried? It should be located as far away from the house as possible. 5. Does the system have gravel? Grave-less systems will not promote mold and mildew which in turn promote mildew type odors. Gravel-less system avoid this and additionally must be installed using High efficiency tile such as...J-Drain or Hydra drain. 6. THE WARRANTY.....THE WARRANTY....THE WARRANTY! This is vital and all the details and terms should be understood perfectly. Again I would encourage every member to do their due diligence in knowing the facts. Not every waterproofing system is the same. In fact I would go as far to say that in some cases whats being sold as a "WATERPROOFING SYSTEM"' is indeed not a waterproofing system at all.

All in all, my experience has been great. There have been some blunders along the way, but Mike and his team are always willing to come out asap to fix and problems. I can't say enough good things about how nice and professional Mike is. (Mike is the owner of the company). He does not subcontract.
Description of Work: ARW put in a drain tile and sump pump in my basement. But to ensure as little water as possible would make it into the basement, they ran one of my gutters underground and drain to the street. They also dug a dry well in my back yard when the original drain pipe they installed froze up during the winter. They also encapsulated my crawlspaces (one of them at no extra cost).

We appreciate the feedback from the member. It has been a pleasure along the way serving him. This project was started and completed last July. The home is approximately 100 years old and had some unique challenges related to the age of the home. It also had challenges regarding the elevation and distance that was needed to discharge the sump pump correctly. The initial installation went as planned and was completed with in a week. however, some of the issues that sometimes occur with an aging home occurred with this one. For example the member had an old cinder block wall that sprung a leak and began to spray water in intense rain fall. We simply patched and redirected the water into the new waterproofing system. Fixing the issue permanently and at no additional cost to the customer. We had a harsh brutal winter with extreme cold. The distance of the discharge line caused it to freeze up and not allow the pump to discharge the water correctly. To make this repair , we simply shorten the line and ran it to a dry well and insured that it had about 3" of fall per foot. We have not not had any issues since. Mike Bird, the managing partner, returned my call the same day I called his office. We discussed my specific leak (about a foot of carpet was wet immediately under a basement window well). Based on this, he correctly diagnosed a leaking tie rod or crack. He suggested opening the drywall inside to diagnose (as opposed to immediately excavating the window well at a higher cost). I did, and he was correct. He had an inspector/salesman out 2 business days later. He placed me on their "On call" list (in return getting a 10% discount), and began work the following week. I called two of his competitors the first day, and they could not even get an inspector out for 4-6 weeks; with ARW, I spoke with the owner/manager day 1 and had the project completed within 8 business days. They are expensive, but all of these companies are, and this company seems to be in line. We have had several rains since and so far, no leak. I also water tested the new drains with a garden hose for 1 1/2 hours, which drained well and without a leak. ARW has a 25 year guarantee, and will return to fix the leak should it return.
Description of Work: Excavated a large (14 toot) window well to the foundation footing. Patched a leaking tie-rod hole as well as patched additional cracks and tie rod holes which were not currently leaking. Applied a large adherent non-permeable membrane over the foundation wall. Replaced the window well drain and foundation drain tile at the base of the widow well. Refilled the window well.

I have waited over 2 months now for them to fix all of their mistakes but they have only cashed my checks for $1325 (plus the costs paid to Angie's List)and ignored my requests. Here is a list of their mistakes: - they charged me $225 for a downspout extension that later fell off due to poor workmanship - I asked for them to drop off screws so I could attach the downspout before flooding occurred, they did not do this (I put rocks under the pipe to hold it in position) - the came out to repair the cracks in my foundation but only repaired them partially. They were supposed to remove a PVC pipe to gain access to the entire wall but instead repaired the wall only until the area of the PVC pipe was in their way, not the entire wall as we had agreed. - the tape on the inside of the wall started falling off shortly after the repair, the technician admitted he had failed at a critical step and he could fix this later time but never did - the first rain after the repair resulted in water in my basement, I could not believe it - it seemed that by them opening the crack to repair it had made the matter worse. The one crack had only leaked once in the past 10 years and the other crack is about 20 feet from an exterior wall. - NONE of the items listed in the deal were completed and the owner of the company seemed confused as to what was in the Big Deal. He had no equipment or apparent knowledge to even complete these tasks.
Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for an "in-depth foundation inspection, crawlspace inspection, home water leakage inspection, and drainage analysis used for creating a preventive water leakage plan," includes "an elevation of your foundation , exterior drainage, and sump pump)" They recommended that they repair 2 cracks in my foundation and extend one of my downspouts.

I appreciate both positive and negative comments left by members. These reviews when done in honesty help ARW and our staff improve on all levels of service. However, as a person of integrity I cannot let slanderers remarks about my company, employees or staff, which is based in false hoods, go unchallenged. The review left by this member is slanderers in every regard. I will answer each individual charge made based on what actually occurred. Member Comments - I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for an "in-depth foundation inspection, crawlspace inspection, home water leakage inspection, and drainage analysis used for creating a preventive water leakage plan," includes "an elevation of your foundation , exterior drainage, and sump pump)" They recommended that they repair 2 cracks in my foundation and extend one of my downspouts. ARW RESPONSE - We did the inspection. The member was satisfied that it was completed and hired ARW to do the recommended work. Member Comments: I have waited over 2 months now for them to fix all of their mistakes but they have only cashed my checks for $1325 (plus the costs paid to Angie's List)and ignored my requests. Here is a list of their mistakes: ARW RESPONCE - I have responded to every request made by this member. The member insists on communicating by email or text so I have kept a complete record. MEMBER - they charged me $225 for a downspout extension that later fell off due to poor workmanship ARW RESPONSE - The member is correct in that the downspout did fall off. We typically bury our extensions. This member refused this type of install en lieu of an above ground installation. Because of the grade it had to be positioned as to not touch the ground before extending out, leaving about 10 inches between the elbow and the ground. The screws did not hold under the heavy rainfall event. The member was told this may happen. He didn’t seem to mind. MEMBER- I asked for them to drop off screws so I could attach the downspout before flooding occurred, they did not do this (I put rocks under the pipe to hold it in position) ARW RESPONSE- The member contacted me about the downspout extension and requested some additional screws. I had one of our project managers go by the same day with the screws. They knocked on the door and had no response. They did the repair them self. I sent a text verifying this with the member. MEMBER- They came out to repair the cracks in my foundation but only repaired them partially. They were supposed to remove a PVC pipe to gain access to the entire wall but instead repaired the wall only until the area of the PVC pipe was in their way, not the entire wall as we had agreed. - the tape on the inside of the wall started falling off shortly after the repair, the technician admitted he had failed at a critical step and he could fix this later time but never did ARW RESPONSE- First of all we do not use any tape in our crack repair system We do use as part of the process self-adhesive tar flashing. Over the top of this hydra Crete is applied. Part of the Crete did not set up properly and had fallen off. Our technician went out to make the repair and the member would not let him apply more Crete. I have no idea why? This was his specific request and the tech was there within 2 days. Instead when the tech arrived all the member wanted to talk about was the water that had come from the crack. MEMBER - the first rain after the repair resulted in water in my basement, I could not believe it - it seemed that by them opening the crack to repair it had made the matter worse. The one crack had only leaked once in the past 10 years and the other crack is about 20 feet from an exterior wall. ARW RESPONSE- When our inspector initially went out to do the inspection and repairing the two cracks were discussed. We initially prepared an estimate to do an exterior excavation and repair the cracks from the backside. This is the correct way and works every time its performed. The repairs would have cost the member $6000.00. when presented with the proposal he refused this installation. However, he asked for an inside repair. I reluctantly agreed to do it for him, but not without clear warranting that ARW would not warrant this type of repair because it’s only putting a band aid on the issue. When water is still allowed to come through the back side it can always make it through any facial repairs. The member was clearly told what could happen and was perfectly ok with the risk involved. It did not work out for him and now he wants a complete refund. All while attempting to do harm to ARW with these types of slanderous comments. MEMBER- NONE of the items listed in the deal were completed and the owner of the company seemed confused as to what was in the Big Deal. He had no equipment or apparent knowledge to even complete these tasks. ARW RESPONSE- guess the best way to answer this is with a question…..If none of the items in the initial deal were completed, then why did the member contract with ARW to begin with? After all the initial appointment was to complete the “BIG DEAL”. Mike Bird, Managing Partner Advanced Restoration & Waterproofing

The inspection was quite thorough and the inspector quite professional. We live in a 90 year old house and unfortunately the only solution for us to have a dry basement is to invest many thousands of dollars. Unfortunately it is not in our budget right now. I would have appreciated alternatives to his proposal as it was an "all or nothing" kind of scenario.
Description of Work: He came and conducted an inspection of our basement.

He seemed to know what he was talking about and he was very professional. He wasn't pushy and he didn't try to force me into something. I didn't use them because they would be doing the work on the inside of the basement and I was looking for someone to do it on the outside. It is a weep system to drain water away from the house. It didn't make that much sense to me to do it on the inside of the house. They are a reputable company and if I was going to make that work done, I would probably have them do it. He explained everything to me and he was very good at what he did. He did a very good job. He was a few minutes early.

They came out and talked to me, but there was no point in having them come out because what they would do would not benefit me. He came and inspected, but I didn't need what he was trying to sell me.

I felt like I paid to have someone come into my home to give me an estimate for services I wasn't looking for. I had recently had a sump pump failure and they told me I needed a new pump in addition to a drainage system which would cost thousands, then I received persistent follow-up calls that indicated I had only a limited amount of time to take advantage of their special offer. I ended up asking them not to call me anymore.
Description of Work: Took a look at my sump pump and talked about installing a drainage system.

I'm very sorry the member didn't think that we provided a valuable service. The member purchased a 10 point inspection. Our evaluator went to do the evaluation and in the course of the inspection discovered that more was needed than just a sump pump. It was absolutely necessary to install a waterproofing system to re-direct the water to the sump basin in order to dry the foundation out. This was noted in the report and an estimate for services was left for their review. We checked back a couple of times to ask if they wanted to move forward with the project. It was never brought to our attention that they only wanted a sump pump installation. We would have been more than happy to have done so. When a 10 point inspection is purchased it is an upgraded inspection. A report accompanies an estimate. If we find things along the way it is incumbent for us to acknowledge our findings and suggest the proper repairs. Mike Bird, Managing Partner Advanced Restoration & Waterproofing

The estimate was thorough and the work/process explained clearly. All my questions were completely answered. The crew was friendly and arrived on time. They worked very hard and completed the job on schedule. It was a huge and very messy job. They did an excellent job of minimizing the mess in the house and in the final cleanup after the work was completed.

We found another contractor more in our price range.
Description of Work: I had a specific problem with water seeping in to the lower level at certain times of the year when the wind blew the right way. The contractor wanted to do extensive work in excavating the outside and it would have cost over $14,000. I'm sure he was good at what he did but I could not afford that amount of money.

They have been wonderful so far, as I tried to reschedule 3 different times. They are always very kind and understanding. I'm impressed!

There were some communications difficulties which resulted in information not being conveyed in a timely manner on both sides. Unfortunately this resulted in a cancellation of the purchased services. I have since had additional correspondence with the company and will reconsider their services. I will post a follow up response if services are performed.

I'm very sorry the member was not satisfied. After checking our records we made the initial contact the 1st day we received the information from Angie's List. In the initial contact we request the members phone number, because it was missing. We then followed up on the initial contact with a message requesting the members phone number again 4 days later - so we could simply call them and schedule an appointment directly. Additionally, we assured this member hat we looked forward to serving them as we do all Angie's List members. Had we had the phone number we would have called on the 1st day in addition to the message we sent. If I was the consumer in this matter, and not the vendor; I have no doubt that I would consider a same day response from a company.... very fast. I think most folks would agree. Again, we realize that we do make mistakes from time to time. I can't say we made one here. However, we do respect the members right to feel as they do. Please , if you have a basement, crawlspace, foundation or drainage issue give us a call. We will always do our best to respond promptly and bring service to the table that is 2nd to none. It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It went alright. He found a lot of things wrong in my crawlspace. He told me that the sump pump was in the wrong place, but I've never had any water in my crawlspace. I asked him if I have water in my crawlspace and he said no but I could have. I set up pretty high and everything drains down into the basement thing that goes into a big conduit. I've never had water. I just didn't like his attitude. How am I going to dig a hole in the ground and put a new sump pump in. I wasn't really happy about that, but he said he did a good job. It was okay because he did check the crawlspace, he just thought I should put a new sump pump in the ground, and I didn't go for that. I thought that the price was good. He was professional and he did tell me what he thought. I probably would not use him again because he drove all the way from Greenwood up here, and I think I can find somebody closer.
Description of Work: Advanced Restoration & Waterproofing came out and checked my crawlspace.

This is in no way reflective of how we run our business. Please allow me to explain what happened. This member apparently tried to contact our company through the holiday season. We were most likely out of the office when she tried. Most importantly on Dec. 31st we had a personal emergency medical issue that disrupted our company operations significantly and our family. We are currently making a full recovery and are looking forward to a productive year of service to all Angie's List members. We are very sorry about the inconvenience we caused this member. We are trying to reach out to this member to explain in detail what happened and the seriousness of the situation. We appreciate your understanding in advance. Sincerely, Mike Bird, Managing Partner Advanced Restoration & Waterproofing
