Mike Bird & his crew were amazing!! We had hired another company to initially do the work (huge mistake on our part~contact us if you want details on that company which is based in Louisville KY) The job was done incorrectly on so many levels & we would have had another flooded basement & another huge mess on our hands. We called Mike & explained the situation & he graciously agreed to come out to the house & check out the situation. He verified the mistakes that had been made & gave us options in order to fix the problems. He was very honest & professional. They were able to take care of our situation immediately. The crew was very professional! Always on time, did the work efficiently, cleaned up the work areas, very polite. They have the best warranty, use the latest technology, & the best pumps, pits, & other materials needed for the job. We were very pleased & satisfied with the work ARW did. They are a top notch company & we would definitely recommend this company!!

We are happy that our team was able to help [member name removed] and his family out. This was one of those horrible situations where another company that claimed ( and currently still claims ) to be a professional waterproofing and foundation contractor gave a very low bid to entice customers to go with them. We later found out that the company had produced an estimate that was 30% less than our estimate had been. As with any purchase we usually tend to go with the cheapest bid. However, I would remind everyone this is not always the best choice in home improvement. Price certainly has a role in choosing a contractor but I believe REPUTATION should always be the defining attribute. No matter if the price is lower or higher I would suggest that anyone preparing to invest in a home renovation project confirm a solid reputation of the company they are preparing to partner with. If a company has a higher bid than the field they are competing against on the project that shouldn't rule them out. I believe the question that one should ask is simple. If I pay this additional cost 10 - 20 or even 30% more , will I be able to rest assured that I have a partner that will be available in the future should there be an issue or I need service. If you can answer YES to that question confidently, then I would suggest that you have found the right company to work with. The extra cost is many times worth it. In this members case, he paid DOUBLE to have it done right. If you have any questions about this project please call and we would be happy to answer those questions. We were concerned about the squeaks in our floor , The house is only 105 years old LOL so he also had the owner come back later to check to make sure there was no problem. There was not. They said the floors added character :) But if we really wanted the squeaks out they could do that for us. The foundation is good. So are the owners.

We thank this member for sharing the positive experience they have had with ARW thus far and look forward to serving them in the future. As with every inspection we go on - It's always that inspection that is the most important. Our team takes a great deal of pride in taking the time to access the problem correctly and providing an estimate for repairs that is spot on and many times we are able to provide some options to our customer regarding different methods and a tiered approach in addressing the issue. We look forward to hearing from you if you need the assistance of a trusted service provider. Mike Bird - Founding Member / Owner

I was impressed with ARW throughout the entire process of getting our foundation repaired. They actually visited our house twice to ensure they had the correct assessment and recommendations for repairs. (We had three companies come bid on the project but ultimately were the most comfortable with the ARW products and people, which proved to be an excellent decision.) The crew who came to work at our house was all very nice, and their crew leader Michel was happy to answer and all questions as they went along. The company owner stayed in touch throughout the process as well. They performed several type of work throughout our crawlspace, and upon completion, Michel gave a thorough walkthrough and explanation as to everything they had done. I would definitely recommend them to people looking to have any of this type of service done.

WEeappreciate the opportunity to have served the member. The member had extraordinary foundation failure and needed a total of ten STABIL-LOC foundation piers. We didn't know at the time of the inspection that the foundation had already been piered before with a side loading pier. when we excavated to do our installation we found the piers. These piers no doubt had done further damage to the foundation than what was originally done. they push on an angle from the side and in many cases cause twisting of the foundation. We where glad to have helped this customer out by installing the best foundation pier the market has to offer. Advanced Restoration & Waterproofing is the only authorized dealer of this pier system in INDIANA. if you are experiencing settlement please call us right away. foundation restoration is expensive and gets more costly the longer you wait. The decision to remove the previous vapor barrier and replace it was the right one - eliminating any items where the odor causing chemical remained. They removed all the fiberglass insulation which should have been removed by the previous provider. They sprayed again for mold on all exposed wood, installed R board insulation on the walls and re-installed a new vapor barrier. Two humidex were also installed to increase air flow, removed humidity. An additional project was also included to waterproof one of the basement walls which had begun to leak. The ARW team was very professional, arriving on time and sharing updates on their work. They were also a very pleasant group of guys who really worked well together and were always positive about what they were doing. The contrast between the two providers is overwhelming. I would adamantly recommend ARW over any other provider you might be considering, even if they might be shown as an "A" List provider and they say they offer a lifetime warranty. What good is the warranty if they do not honor it?
Description of Work: ARW completely removed the work of a previous "A" list provider, removing the vapor barriers in two crawl spaces and re-doing the work. The previous provider had used a chemical to treat mold which had an odor that lingered and had an overwhelming musty smell which we had lived with for years. This previous provider also had not removed all the old fiberglass insulation, having stuffed it up under duct work or leaving it on walls where mold again formed. They would not honor their lifetime warranty even when called immediately after their work when the odor problem was clearly an ongoing issue. Even if we continued to complain, we had no trust they would fix their work and decided to contract with ARW who did an excellent job.

We appreciate the review of the member. Unfortunately we are seeing more and more of this in our industry. The customer has used a company, had an issue and the service provider has failed to make it right. It seems that every company has an excuse. ARW is now going back to repair the work of other foundation and waterproofing contractors in about 10% of our overall installations. In our opinion the waterproofing and foundation industry needs to be regulated and we are most certainly in favor and support such a movement in the state of Indiana. It seems that every foundation contractor has an excuse as to why there system has failed. with proper regulation and oversight this would stop. As the owner and founding member of ARW I can promise you that you want find excuses with our firm. Our team takes a great deal of pride in doing the work right. If an issue does happen to arise it goes to the top of the priority list. If you are looking for the right company to complete your foundation or waterproofing I can assure you with full confidence ARW is your company. Mike Bird - Founding Member and Owner

I got the name of this company through a referral from a co-worker however I was concerned because they had delayed the work in his home as they were a bit backlogged. We were in a time crunch since this was required for us to be completed before the closing of date of the home. I had explained our situation and they were able to work us in for estimate and got the work scheduled just couple days after. I did not get price comparisons since we didn't have the time but I trusted the referral from the co-worker and Angie List reviews made us confident to go ahead with the work. The guys that came to do the work were prompt, very polite and professional. Very happy with the work.

I'm very sorry that this member was not completely satisfied with our service. Addressing the rescheduling of the appoint ment several things happened and our customer was notified promptly. He was okay with it at the time. Regarding our inspectors knowledge of the foundation, waterproofing and drainage, I would consider him an authority in this field and he will always defer back to me if there is something that perhaps he hasn't seen before. Marty has performed over 1400 estimates and inspections. THe day he performed the inspection he was scheduled to go out of town on a family vacation and notified our customer that he would complete the report when he returned. however, his entire family and himself included came down with a very bad strain of the flu. He notified our customer and he seemed to be okay with it at the time and in fact thanked Marty for keeping him updated. If ARW can assist you in your foundation, drainage or waterproofing repairs please give us a call. Mike BIrd - Managing Partner

Marty worked with me to get a good deal. He was able to come out the week before & I helped him to remove the wet & moldy insulation before the crew started on the rest of the crawlspace so I could save a bit of money. I will say that it would have been nice if the 50 bags of wet & moldy insulation could have been removed from my garage earlier as they sat there for close to a month, but the rest of the job went great so I can't complain too much. They came in and completely dried out the crawlspace. They found that water was not properly being routed to the pond behind my house which may have also caused the water to come in along with the two leaking pipes. They drilled holes in the cement walls and put in new piping. They put in a dehumidifier and sump pump which will now automatically gather any water that comes down there and push it out to the pond. They cleaned the crawlspace and sealed it with a plastic liner. It's now completely dry and clean. I hope to never have to go through an ordeal like this again as it was a headache to deal with my HOA and insurance (they made me pay for all but $250), but ARW did a great job and I would certainly recommend them.
Description of Work: Had two pipes leaking in my crawlspace. My HOA had a plumber come fix the pipes, but there was tons of standing water, mold, wet & moldy insulation, mud & grime, and just an overall mess.

We appreciate the member leaving the positive review. He is correct in saying his crawlspace was a mess when ARW showed up! Very muddy, wet,and moldy. The member was working with a very limited budget so to help out Marty suggested that he would remove the insulation at a fraction of the cost, saving the member a good amount of money. Because all of our teams had already previously been scheduled it did take about 3 -4 weeks to begin the project. Perhaps this could have been better communicated to the member and will be worked on. Once the project was completed it looked very good and most importantly it was dry. If you have any crawl space issues that need corrected please give ARW a call. We will be happy to access your foundation and provide you a detailed plan to make the repairs. Mike Bird - Managing Partner

When there is heavy rain a small stream of water leaks into my unfinished basement, so I used this Angie's List deal to have the basement examined. The representative was friendly, and I think he knew what he was talking about. He pointed out some spots where it appeared water was slowly coming in, and he showed me how the slope of my yard was sending water toward the house. He then explained how they could tench around the house, add a french drain, bury my downspout extenders, add a sump pump, and seal up the basement. All of this would be around $6,000. I think the solution he proposed would work, but I got the impression he was steering me toward the most expensive option. I suspect this option may be overkill for my house, especially since I have no plans to finish the basement. I wish I had asked for (and the representative had offered) less expensive alternatives that would still help address the problem. He also noted a support in the crawl space that he thought was leaning and suggested I have that repaired. I've been trying to obtain a second opinion, but no other foundation vendor has replied to requests yet, and the support appears to be stable for now. At the moment, I have taken no action and am still researching ways to extend my downspouts above ground to divert water from the house. After this winter I will probably select an option. I would look to this vendor again, but I'd take the initial inspector's first suggestion (his card says "inspections/marketing") with a grain of salt if less expensive options are not also offered or explained as unsuitable.
Description of Work: Examined basement for evidence of water running into basement. Looked in crawl space. Walked around house with me showing where slope of yard was sending water toward house.

I appreciate the members comments. When dealing with waterproofing most every situation will have options that will have different associated cost, produce different results and have different types and levels of warranties. For example maybe a basement has just a small amount of water coming into it from one corner and it's unfinished. Most likely this can be solved by extending the downspout away from the foundation by 15 lineal feet and cost a couple hundred bucks. However, maybe someone else has a similar issue but says I want to completely finish my basement and never want to have to deal with the water again. That will require either exterior , interior waterproofing or a combination of both. These are fully warranted systems but can cost from 4k to 30k depending on which option and how large an area needs to be waterproofed. When providing solutions to our customers we want to know what the desired result is that they are trying to achieve within their budget. We will work hard to come up with a solution that meets that goal. Mike Bird - Managing Partner

Had several esimates regarding leaks in my basement. Chose ARW as felt that the job (which was more complicated than originally thought) would be done correctly and included in their estimate was pulling up carpet and replacing rotted floor. They were very professional, courteous and did the job ahead of schedule. We are very happy with the finished product. When I had a problem with hauling away debris, the owner, Mike, called me back immediately. All employees, Mike, Marty and Jay were courteous and handled issues quickly. Will definitely call them for our future (there will be several) basement repairs.

I thought Marty at ARW was very gracious in trying to give me information over the phone without charging me a trip fee to go see the house that I did not yet own. I decided the scope of the project was too much for the "fixer-upper" I was thinking of buying.
Description of Work: I called ARW to discuss foundation problems found in an inspection on a house I was looking to buy. Marty Mainzer was very helpful and did everything he could to talk me through what would need to be done for the concrete block foundation and a possible cost range for the project. I used this information and decided not to buy the house.

The ARW crew worked hard and got the job done in about four days. They were respectful of my home and property and cleaned up their materials nicely at the end. Throughout the project, the supervisor of the work crew and the two other workers were helpful, informative and responsive to my questions and concerns. The supervisor, who left me her business card with contact information, was especially helpful after the project was over. I called her about the project debris pile on my front lawn by the curb that was supposed to be picked up by a waste hauler within three business days of the job's completion, but it had not been picked up by the fourth day after completion. On the fifth business day after completion, the supervisor contacted ARW's owner on my behalf, and the owner called me to assure me that if the waste hauler did not arrive and pick up the debris by the end of that day, I should call the owner, and he would personally come out and take care of it that day. The hauler did arrive late that afternoon, so the owner did not have to make the trip. The delay did leave a large circular spot of "burned" grass on the lawn where the pile had been. Though the burned grass was unsightly, I was patient ... and waited to see if the grass would grow back, and within about three to four weeks, it did. One other matter of note: Because of the water the crew encountered during the project -- both outside (because of rain) and inside -- the crew left behind a good amount of foot-traffic mud on my basement steps and basement floor. The responsibility for clearing of this dirt/mud was not discussed ahead of time (nor did I think to ask about it, not having gone through anything of this kind of thing before). I cleaned this myself, but I think it would behoove ARW and all crews working in this industry to include the cleaning of such mud/dirt as part of their post project cleanup. Also, to reach the wall perimeter to install the trenches, the crew did have to move some institutional shelving and disconnect and move an old-fashioned and extraordinarily heavy water basin/tub in the basement. I would have appreciated it at the end of the project if the crew had offered, especially, to move the basin/tub to an area close to where it had been before the project. I know the guys couldn't put it exactly where it had been (against a wall) because the new cement applied to cover the trenches there needed time to cure, but anything that would have made my job easier to get the tub/basin as close to its permanent spot as possible after the cement dried would have been appreciated.
Description of Work: Provider came out initially on an Angie's List offer to inspect and assess my basement to address water leakage issues. I fully expected I would need some drastic measures to deal with the issues, as I had been experiencing water in the basement in various degrees after medium to hard rains for almost two decades, and for years I'd tried various means to eliminate and/or curtail it, to no avail. ARW's assessed that I needed some drastic measure and pitched a waterproofing proposal that entailed building gravitational trenches around the interior basement perimeter to collect excess water and direct it to a single point where a newly installed sump pump would send the water out through a pipe and deposit it outside, sufficiently away from the house and foundation. The proposal included burying two downspouts into lead-out pipes that also directed water away from the house and foundation and expelling water, again safely outside and away from the house and foundation. By paying an additional amount ($300), I added a third downspout to the system. The extra spout required the crew to dig a lengthy tunnel to connect to one of the other spout's underground pipe, so I thought the surcharge was very fair, and I was glad to have that option. ARW's proposal also included a free, all-wall basement mold treatment at the conclusion of the trench installation, which I thought was an excellent sweetener to the deal. My basement has been bone dry ever since the job's completion, so I consider it a job well done!

It went great. Marty came out to my house to a**** the crack in our foundation after our home inspection for the sale of our home. we had one other reputable angie's list provider out to our home and he gave the same recommendation that marty did. However what stood out to me was that marty went into our home and actually measured with an electronic device the slant in our home. Mind you they both came up w/ the same recommendation but I felt better knowing Marty actually measured it. Marty went above and beyond to help meet us on the price. Obviously no one wants to put a lot of money into their home as they are moving but we had many other things to fix. Marty offered to come down on the pricing and also gave us a discount for using a check vs credit card which was really nice for us. I told him we had to add a radon mitigation system and how we needed 2 one for our crawl space and 1 for the basement portion which was really expensive. he threw in a free vapor barrier which will help us maybe not need the radon mitigation system for our crawl space. Jay was our foreman and called me the night before told me when he would be there and what they would be doing. Jay was so nice and so was his crew. I felt comfortable leaving them in my home for 2 days while I was at work. we are pretty particular about who we let in our house and I just felt comfortable. Jay communicated w/ me the entire time. They originally estimate 3 days and finished in 2. Also what really stood out to me too was the letter they offered from an engineer that we will receive in 6 weeks certifying the work and guaranteeing it for 25 years. It's really nice having that piece of mind and being able to hand that letter off at the closing table. Not to say there was any wrong w/ the other company we had quote but things w/ ARW just seemed more thorough and them trying to help us out any way they could to get the business. I hope I never have a foundation issue in our new home but these guys were great and I know they would do a great job if we ever need them again.

Marty was prompt, professional, and pleasant. I did not use Advanced Restoration only because I went with a home improvement company that could do major carpentry in addition to crawl space work. But I would have no reservations of using Advanced Restoration for crawl space work.

They arrived on time each day. It took them a week. They kept the worksite clear each day. They were all very professional. I had a lot of questions. They answered those questions with courtesy and thoroughness. They crawl space was very large as well.
Description of Work: They cleared the crawl space of mold, bits of old foam insulation, and leftover building debris. They installed two sub pumps and a humidex. They installed a vapour barrier and capsulated the crawl space. They buried two down spouts and installed vents in the crawl space and house and installed new insulation in the crawl space.

Workers were very considerate and conscious of tracking dirt and mud in house. They put down drop cloths to walk on from basement to outside door, even outside on our deck- they swept it off when finished. It took 3 days to complete this extensive work. One worker was sick and they called in advance and canceled for that day which we appreciated. They are to come back to inspect the mold/mildew areas and if not taken care of, they will spray again. The basement no longer smells wet and moldy. They did a great job.; We recommend them. Mike returned and re inspected the work that was done. The basement has been dry and the dehumidifier has been running to take out the humidity in the air. The basement does not smell musty or moldy any longer. Mike re sprayed the basement door and checked the crawl spaces. There was a small spot under the bedroom and he re sprayed that. He also sealed the outside vent as he said that was drawing in moist air. We really feel that Mike is very knowledgable and was helpful in solving our moisture problem. He went over and above what he contracted for.
Description of Work: Waterproofed basement, new pump, crack repair, drain, placed beam in crawlspace, mold and mildew spray and placed vapor barrier in crawl.

Inspection went fine. I anticipate further work with them, but there are some more immediate issues I need to address before I can do basement waterproofing and foundation work. I now know from the inspection what I can do to reduce basement water in heavy rain and what I can do that will make water proofing and foundation work easier when I can do it.
Description of Work: Detailed inspection for water issues and foundation issues and collection of data for a future estimate.

It was the best company ever used from Angie's List. From Marty coming out to give estimate. To Matt and Cory working the hardest I have ever seen people work. To Mike the owner stopping by to make sure all work was done and the we were happy with the job. I asked a whole lot of questions while job was being done and Matt and Cory not only answered very professionally, you could tell they love the work they do.
Description of Work: Waterproofed our back basement wall. Ran a 27 foot weeping drain to new sump pump. Ran back gutter and sump pump out to specific spot we wanted. And weather proofed crawl space

It's very humbling to have a member say that of every company they have used from Angie's List, that the experience they have had from start to finish with our team ( ARW ) has been the best. This is what our entire team works so hard to achieve and I'm thrilled that this member has posted this review to share with others! It's rewarding to me as the founder and owner to know that we are on the right track to serving every customer with the absolute best service available. this type of service comes from one simple philosophy, " treat others as you want to be treated". Our team will continue to work hard to be the best in our industry by delivering the best products available, installations, qualified technicians, spot on honest assessments and great customer service. They were good. They showed up on time and they were clear about their ideas of what they recommended. The deal was for $49 of assessment where as the normal assessment fee was 2 or 3 times of that. So they just had the deal for doing the $49 assessment. Our experience makes it seem like they are a solid company. They were prompt and performed good service. They did what they said. They were prompt about calling and that whole process. We give them good marks for what they did which was just an assessment and there wasn’t any work done. It was kind of hard to fail on unless they were not prompt in their communications, and they showed up on time. So there’s really no reason to give them any downgrade. The price was good. They did what they said and they provided a decent assessment.
Description of Work: They came out 2 or 3 weeks after we purchased the deal. We just had them do the reassessment and that’s all of the work we had done.

We appreciate the member taking the time post a review for other AL members to review. It's great to have feedback that our team is doing a good job as we place emphases on great customer service. The 10 point inspections that are offered at a discount through Angie's List are a valuable and economical way to a more in-depth assessment of your foundation and drainage on your home. If issues are located our inspector will leave you an estimate to review along with the report. Mike Bird - Managing Partner
