+ -1 moreI felt this was his responsibility since it wasn't properly checked and ran to make sure it was in working order, because of the temperature. He should have originally taken care of this. This seems to be a poor business practice to me, not following up on your work. This was a new piece of equipment that he was paid to put in. Original out of pocket was $628 for materials, so I went to the warranty company. I negotiated with them to split this with me. He charged me $320 for sheet metal work. He cut a hole in the duct above furnace, took the A frame coil out, slid my new one in, and patched it with a sheet metal patch. Doesn't seem right. Over charged for something to make his job easier. Shotty solution. Cost reflects warranty deductible and half of extra supplies.
Description of Work: I had my Central Air unit replaced through my home warranty that came with my home in October 17th, 2007. It was cool at that time, so he didn't really get to try the unit to test the Air. I turned it on for the first time myself, this year, June. It was cooling the house properly, on for about 30 minutes. Went down to the basement and there was a large puddle of water in front of my furnace. I could see water coming out from where the drain line was. I immediately shut the furnace off. I was afraid of it ruining my control box, going by wires and such. I called the furnace man right after and let him know I needed him to come out and take a look. He didn't want to come out without paying a service call.
