JON'S TREE SVC

Earlier this month we contacted four different tree service companies in northwest Indiana to give estimates for taking down some large trees that were growing dangerously close to our house and garage. A big wind storm at the beginning of October had caused one huge limb to fall on the garage roof which made us realize that we could not delay this task any longer. Of the four services we called Jon’s tree service was the most responsive as well as the most reasonably priced. They came out within a few days of first contact and emailed us an estimate within 24 hours of that visit. While they were taking down the dead or dying trees that were threatening the garage we did another inspection and realized we had additional trees that were in bad shape and so we expanded the project. Jon was happy to revise the estimate and was very generous in combining certain pieces of the project, like the chipping and the clearing up, so that we wouldn’t be doubling the price. His team was very professional and efficient and we were astonished at how quickly they were able to get down these huge trees without damaging anything around them. Because we had expanded the project considerably we had to ask a family member for some financial assistance and Jon’s was very gracious in giving us another week to pay the final installment after the job was done. We were truly impressed with every aspect of Jon’s Tree Service and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a good tree removal company!

I live on a one-acre lot on Shady Lane. The entire street lies within an old beech, maple and oak forest that is rife with some huge trees that are reaching the end of life. Newer and smaller trees in the area grow oddly-shaped because of the limited light that they receive due to the towering older trees. This requires frequent trimming and shaping of the smaller trees and maintaining the larger ones to prevent damage to structures. This summer, I was in need of a fair amount of major tree work. I called two or three services listed on Angie's List for my area to arrange for estimates for this work. Only one of these services returned my call, and was so busy that they would be unable to stop by to offer an estimate for at least THREE WEEKS. In addition, this vendor required a $65 fee for performing the estimate, which, if selected to do the job, would be applied to the balance. Needless to say, I declined this service outright. A nearby neighbor recommended the work of Jon's Tree Service, so I called and requested an estimate. Jon showed up the following day and provided a reasonable, though not cheap, free estimate for the work. Since none of the other vendors seemed interested in my job, I asked Jon to do the work as soon as his schedule permitted. He said he hoped to be able to do the work by the end of the following week, which I considered reasonable. When he had not contacted me by the time he said that he expected to do the work, I called again, and was rescheduled for the following week and promised to do it then "without fail." Jon's crew arrived as scheduled and performed the work quickly and carefully. They consulted me constantly throughout the process to assure that it was according to my wishes. Large and heavy equipment had to be moved onto my lawn during this work, and the crew again asked me to approve the way that they had to place the equipment. Yes, some minor damage was done to the lawn by this equipment, but that was to be expected by the nature of the job. The were careful of my lawn and shrubbery throughout the whole process, and they did a thorough job of cleaning up afterwards. All in all, I was very pleased with the results of the work done by this vendor, and I will give them first crack at any future tree work that I need to have done.
