WATCH FOR BAIT AND SWITCH We had Momax install a kitchen counter years ago and went back to them to have them install a granite snack bar. I gave them a rough estimate of the length and showed the salesman a photo of where it was to be installed. He informed me that we need brackets to support the overhang off the counter. We discussed extensively the brackets and how the installers would notch out the wood 2x4 for the bracket. I was familiar with the process as the same thing was done to support a small overhang on my kitchen counter. We picked our granite and he took my info and emailed me a quote (lie #1). I accepted the quote, put half down, and was later scheduled for a field measure. After the measure, I received another email and phone call to come pick out the section of slab I wanted and to put more money down to meet half the deposit. I looked at the new estimate and the price jumped by a THIRD. There was and increase of 1.5 sq. foot in addition to the price of the "brackets". The brackets are 4'x12" flat stock nothing else and they charge $100 for each. When I called about the price increase Mary Ellen could not have been any ruder. She stated that they did not know if I needed brackets until the field measure (lie #2). I told her that is not true because the sales rep and I discussed the brackets and I showed him photo's. Then the tune changed to they did not know how many brackets were needed (lie #3). I priced out granite from other suppliers and the both gave me an estimate of a bracket every 18". Then she said that they have different brackets and they are different prices (lie #4). I asked her how many brackets do they have and price differences. She said they have 2 types and they differ by $10. Come on really!! At that point she was just scrambling because of the lies she is caught in. They were unwilling to compromise on the price or come down any, so I informed them I wanted my deposit back. They said they would refund it less $150 for the field measure and $20 for a credit card charge $170 (which is stated in the contract). It was not about the money it is the principle of the matter. Don't increase the price by a third, that is just bad business. I went to GQ Tops and they were great. They even told me about the cost of brackets.

Had several issues with Momax to include Luis and Hector. They miscut one of the granite pieces and Hector tried to inform me that it wasn't 'mis-cut', it was not polished properly. Another granite piece was not properly shimmed or leveled leaving gaping joints in excess of 1/4 inche between the granite counter and backsplash. Hector, even admitted that they even used the wrong silicone, making the errors even more apparent. Next, Momax did not properly score the walls/drywall when removing the old countertop which tore large holes in the drywall. Hector didn't want to speak to "the construction" and informed me that there will "always" be issues with drywall when installing new countertops. Unfortunately, these are not "touch up" areas like Hector suggested, these holes need to be skim coated and now the entire kitchen needs to be repainted. You will need to factor in the additional expense of drywall repair and whole room repaint if you are planning to utilize Momax for your granite needs! Unfortunately, this is not a reputable organization. The installers sat for 35 minutes explaining how they are sick of the company and even offered that the installer and his wife were leaving the company because of all of the issues. When one of the other installers arrived to help carry in an additional and heavy piece of granite, there was another half hour spent discussing how bad the company was. Use your best judgement here and look at all of your options before choosing to work with MoMax. Hector offered no resolution to the matters and informed me that the issues were "little issues" and he doesn't get involved in the construction and that there are always issues when installing new countertops and I should be happy with what I got. Hector is somehow the president of this company, very poor customer service. Now we are forced to get lawyers involved to correct issues that Momax created. Obviously, a very bad experience!

We went to Momax just to look & were thrilled with their amazing selection. Fabian our salesman helped us to find the perfect quartz to accent our tile. They came out & measured the next day & 2 weeks later it was installed. Fabian made it a hassle free experience. From purchase to installation everyone at Momax is top notch. We will definitely return there for any stone that we’d need. It was also interesting to see the many stone products they have for purchase. Their fire pits are amazing.
Description of Work: After remodeling a bathroom we were unable to find a vanity top that matched our tile at the big box stores. The selection at the big box stores was very limited.

It was a nightmare. We drove from Granger to Merrillville to place our counter top order. We were not given a copy of the order because it was a third party bill. WE were very clear in our ordering process with Olivia and stood next to the configuration that we wanted with her. It took weeks for someone to come to our house and do the measurements of the cabinets which had just been installed. It took another month before they were installed. During this time we had no counter tops or plumbing (sink or dishwasher) in our kitchen. When the counter tops were delivered I was upset to see that the sink was opposite what I had ordered. I called Nina at Hannapels in Niles because we ordered the countertops through her and she had the order. She said to let them install them because we would have plumbing at least and that she would straighten it out later with the owner. The owner was conveniently out of town when I called Momax. I later called Sal, the owners son, who didn't see the problem. This was a custom order and I hated the configuration. My husband and I drove to Merrillville several time to straighten it out. Their salesperson, Keith, had our order and held it to his breast like a newborn baby, not allowing us to see the written order. Eventually we came to an agreement that they would cut us another piece of granite and charge us 1200, some of which was for a different upgraded sink. We chose not to redo the standard "gift" sink which they included with their order. I would not use them again. THey did not take responsibility for their mistake and tried to force me to accept it, offering a free cutting board or lazy susan if I would just go away.
Description of Work: We were referred to Momax by Hannapels of Niles during a kitchen remodel. Momax installed the granite counter tops.

Overall it was the best experience possible. They were very nice professional on time and unbelievably understanding. Everything started off well but because we were doing a lot of the remodeling ourselves it was taking longer then originally expected but Momax was very understanding. Finally months after we picked the slab we were ready for them to measure. On installation day when they brought the counter tops in I thought to myself that doesn look like the color we picked but it was the right pattern. I decided to not say anything since it had been months since we last saw it and waited for my wife to come home to tell me if I was crazy or what. When she got home the first thing she said was this isnt the right color. At that point I thought for sure we were going to be stuck with something we didnt want. We took some pics of the installed granite and went into Momax. Our original sales person was there (I think it was Stephanie)and she listened to everything we had to say. She talked to the guys in the shop to see if there was a mess up. After she was unsuccessful she got the owner to come over and talk to me. He was very understanding and at no time did undermind my problem. He told me that he believes they didnt make a mistake but he understands that an accident could of happened and his employees are not wanting to admit that large of a mistake. So he offered to have us re-pick a slab, then they would fabericate and install at no extra cost to me. It's sad to say but this isn't something you see everyday, a business owner and employees going the extra mile to make the customer happy. If anyone I knew was looking to have there kitchen countertops redone I would hands down recommend Momax!

They are very helpful and very low pressure. If you tell them what you need, they try to get you what you want at the best price. Even if it was a remnant. We did not feel like they were trying to get us to spend more than we wanted to. It is excellent service and they met the deadline. Everything fit perfectly with no problems.
Description of Work: We used Momax Marble when we did the bathroom remodel. They did the counter tops for the bathroom.
