It wasn't a good experience. I didn't end up using them because they just kept putting me off and putting me off and putting me off. I pretty much had to beg for them to come out and then they finally did and then I wanted a quote and I wanted a quote and I wanted a quote. I was trying to sell my house. So I wanted things done. I gave up. I just gave up. Then, they kept sending me the quote saying, "Do you want it? Here it is." I was like, "Well, I don't want it now." I was done. His professionalism was good. Their lack of initiative to even get back to me was bad. One technician was sent out. My niece met him because she lives with me. She said he was very nice and very professional. She actually thought it was the owner.
Description of Work: I had them quote on a whole list of things in my house that I wanted to try to get done. I had windows, painting items and handyman stuff.

Ms. [Member Name Removed] originally called Fri., Aug. 28, we set her estimate appt. for Mon., Aug. 31. Her list of items to be repaired was extensive (there were 12 fairly large items to be priced). We emailed her the estimate on Wed., Sept. 9. Labor Day holiday weekend fell during this time frame. We sent her the estimate in five (5) business days. Our normal practice is to send a follow-up email with the estimate 1-2 weeks after if we have not heard anything back from the customer. A 2nd email with estimate was sent to this customer as a follow-up. We are sorry that the customer feels as though we "put her off". She called for an estimate appointment on Friday and we were there the next Monday. The estimate was sent to her in 5 business days and she did not reply to us. A 2nd estimate was sent and did not reply to that email either. Ms. [Member Name Removed] did not relay to us that she was selling her home.

I liked the guy who did the painting. He was missing some spots, but when I told him about the spots, he got back to it. We communicated by phone and email. The owner came out, and told me what they would be doing, and they made my house look good.
Description of Work: They did some interior painting of my home, and he fixed a leak in my wall that I had. They fixed a leak that I had in a wall in the garage, and they also painted the exterior.

I am not happy with their service. They quoted me $300 and charged me $600. They sent one guy saying that they charge by the hour for one thing. They sent two guys and one guy stood half of the time he was here. They really didn't do a good job either. They had two guys because they were doing some metal bending, but another guy didn't need to be here the whole time. I had to get the metal bender off the truck and put it back on. All I wanted a person was to remove the equipment. They were here for 4 hours and they charged me for 8 hours. They asked me to paint the fascia, but why should I do it as I hired them. They were here when they said they were going to be here. I will never use anybody who charges by the hour again.

We do not agree with what was written in [member name removed] review. We needed two technicians because the work was 30 ft. on a 2nd floor gable. Fascia had to be custom bent with aluminum break. J.R. did the work quickly & efficiently. We needed a couple plumbing parts so I went to the store while he kept working which helped with costs. He was right on time.

A number of windows had rotted wood. Don came out and reviewed the windows and provided an estimated and offered some advise. After accepting the estimate, Don came back to measure and order some replacement glass. Service technician arrived on time and was very professional and completed the project on time and budget. Will definitely use this company again for other projects around the house.

I pointed out to the worker that there is a large crack in the kitchen sink since he installed it that was not there before. He spent 45 minutes telling me how he was going to cry. He even fake cried a couple of times! I had enough of his drama, it was the end of the day and I finally said that he needed to go and address it tomorrow. The owner came the next business day and said it was a manufacturing defect and not caused by his worker and told me how his worker about cried over it!! I had bought another sink to get the job moving and the owner said it was defective as well. Without my request he had 2 of his workers stop at several different companies to look at and possibly buy the sink and said they were all defective as well. They installed the 2nd identical one that I had bought. Because of all that transpired since then, I now believe that the first issue with the kitchen sink was contractor error. The letter that follows explains more that happened. Dear Mr. Handyman, Donald Kummick, Below is a list of work that was incorrectly done, damaged or problems arising from that needs credited and settled with the last bill of $714.93. 1.) 2 light boxes put in the wrong place then removed & patched over, still needs more mud work. JR did this work, I paid for his time on this and need compensated for. 2.) JR cut counter top for kitchen bath incorrect size, he left & purchased another and cut again. I paid for that time he used to correct his mistake. Need compensated for. 3.) I had approximately a 16" piece off of the OG edge 10' counter top JR cut that I planned on using. He took it. Smallest piece Home Depot sells that same style and pattern is 4' and it sells for $46.00 Need compensated for time, material, truck for hauling, labor cutting. 4.) While showing Bill where to install vessel sinks directly upstairs, I pointed out to him where JR had scratched and dented the door and inside frame. Getting estimate for that. Needs compensated for. 5.) Bill drilled a hole in counter top in the wrong place. Materials, labor, pick up needs compensated for. 6.) Bill said he was finished, requested paid and left. Had to put a stop payment on check due to leaks and damages. Need compensated for stop payment charge. 7.) Went to clean & put back items under sink cabinet and found 3 of the 4 sinks that Bill installed leaking. Repair needs compensated for. 8.) On 7/31/13 a plumbing company had to switch out the cold water supply adapter that JR had installed under the kitchen sink. The line had come as a result of adapter not being the correct size. That bill needs to be compensated for. I called 3 or 4 times approximately 4:40 - 5:00 to Mr. Handyman office at 317-336-5006 just minutes after Bill left over concerns of leaking sinks. No one answered. I called the office the next morning and told Debbie, she called back indicating the Don Kummick would be out that morning at approximately 11:00 to fix the leaks. By 4:00 Mr. Kummick had not shown up and I needed to leave town so I had the matter taken care of myself. Monday, Debbie from Mr. Handyman office called and left message that the Tuesday scheduled work day that was previously made for me had been cancelled, as the guy had been put on another job and that they would have to get to me sometime the next week. Below is the list of the estimates from contractors for replacement and repairs on these issues. I have documentation and pictures if you should need them. COMPENSATION 1.) $127.50 2.) 85.00 3.)102.66 4.) 623.00 5.) 273.50 6.) 40.00 7.) 115.00 8.) 156.00 Total $1522.66 The difference from $714.93 of what I owe and compensation for damages is $807.73. Payment from Mr. Handyman issued to ( my name ) in the amount of $807.73 will resolve these issues. Should you have any questions, please call. I did't mention many other thing to Mr. Kummich, such as the fact that JR told me he helped himself to my supplies in the garage that was upstairs in a loft. His table saw was malfunctioning continuously and spent approximately 8 times longer to cut as a result. They were paid by the hour and not the job so I paid a lot more for the job of cutting 4 counter tops. I did not make an effort to socialize, I was busy with my affairs but both workers would comment on a bikers rally/convention they were going to in a few days with details about it. I don't believe they were focused on the task at hand and therefore make a multitude of mistakes and damages. Since sending this letter, a letter from an attorney arrived where the owner Don Kummick is denying most of it. I have taken this to my attorney now. I have many witnesses that were at my house during this time that can vouch for these things as well as pictures.

All of our clients are treated with the utmost respect and our mission is to provide an excellent value for their money. Over 70% of our clients are repeat customers and 29% are new customers. We take pride in providing a professional service that is "on time and done right". We are human though and all we ask is for the opportunity to correct any mistakes made. Our desire is to completely satisfy our clients. The kitchen job for (removed member name) was not a normal "take one out, put one in". She had a molded in place Corian sink and countertop. This project was declined by other contractors and ones that were willing to attempt the project, were extremely high priced (approx. $2500.) When I went to the home, (removed member name) had a stainless steel double bowl sink that she wanted installed. When our tech arrived, she had a sil-granite sink made by Franke. JR carefully performed the task of cutting the molded sink from the countertop. He then installed the sil-granite sink. Prior to leaving the home for more plumbing supplies, JR took pictures of the install (he was very proud of this job because I reviewed it with him, making him aware of the difficulty involved) and sent them to me. There was no sign of any damage to the sink! Upon his return, he was met by (removed member name) and informed of a crack. JR is a true professional and takes an enormous amount of pride in his work. Prior to leaving the home the install was perfect. You can only imagine the disappointment when he came back to find a cracked sink! He said, "he wanted to cry" - a figure of speech! At this point (removed member name) would not let him proceed and told him to go home. Monday, on my return from vacation, I went to (removed member name) home to inspect the install. The install was perfect and I found the sink to be defective. The sink casting was very porous at the bending corner which provided the stress point for the crack. Even though (removed member name) purchased the original stainless steel sink, the installed sil-granite sink and another sil-granite sink (over the weekend while waiting for my inspection Monday morning), I took it upon myself to find a suitable non-porous replacement sink. Along with two technicians, we started to search the Indianapolis area for a replacement sink. After an exhaustive 6 hour search, we were unable to find a quality sink readily available. Most high quality sil-granite sinks had a 14 day lead time. Against my better judgment, we went back to (removed member name) home the next day and installed the second sil-granite sink (purchased by (removed member name)) at no cost. Again the install was perfect (all for the reduced day rate price of $600.00). As for the matter of JR "helping himself to her supplies in the garage", he used a small amount of WD40 in which he informed (removed member name) of. The additional items mentioned in (removed member name) letter above can all be debated and the truth of the matter is that I tried to correct any and all issues she had, but was told by her not to return. (removed member name) also informed my technicians that we were the ninth contractor hired for repairs and to make corrections to previous work performed by others. There were numerous times that (removed member name) commented to me and my technicians about her satisfaction with our workmanship. We corrected a number of very serious electrical errors (by others) such as a code violation that could have resulted in a catastrophic failure and house fire. All I asked for was an opportunity to complete the tasks mentioned in her memo above. I am not sure of the motive in her review. All good relationships require working together to solve problems. He provided a good estimate and he stuck to those prices. The work was done very well. He was very prompt and professional. The original window had a leak in it and he really tried his best to fix the leak before replacing it.

It went well overall. A few things on our to-do list were not able to be completed because of the time required for other things. They are going to come back to finish repairing the crack in our concrete steps. That these steps couldn't be finisihed that day is my only disappointment, but we'll see when they come back.

Mr Handyman did an excellent job and charged less than some other estimates I received. They offer various other services. I would definitely use them in the future.
Description of Work: Mr Handyman cleaned & wire brushed the chimney, then applied mortar & sealed it. The chimney had some damage due to a hail storm.

He was excellent!They came out within a couple days and checked the roof. He thought it was the pipe boot and had his 2 men come out ASAP to fix it. He worked around my schedule and made sure it was fixed before the rain came in. They were very reasonably priced. The owner called me on Saturday to follow up and make sure there were no additional problems. I would definitely use them again in the future.
Description of Work: We had a leak in our roof and it went into one of the bedrooms.

Mr Handymen was recommended by my health insurance. The approximate cost of the service was paid by my health insurance so I was not aware of the amount. They were professional and was on time. They would clean the area after their work had completed.

The job was average to slightly below average. There is a bow on the windows because the caulking was not cleaned up afterwards. There was additional work we had quoted that we thought was going to be done and it never was done. We would use them again but we would closely monitor them.

Had used them in mid December to redo electrical fixture in lower level and hang a Tiffany lamp over a game table. Clean up was great as was the work. Both times I've used them the response was either the same or next day. I will continue to use this business in the future. I have also recommended them to several friends.

Donny called about 15 minutes ahead of time and let us know when he would arrive - he got there right on time. Within minutes he tackled and completed the siding repair, then came inside to stretch the carpet in our closet. Before stepping foot inside, he put on booties, this was very much appreciated. About 15 minutes later project 2 was done! Instead of just taking his $60/hour and leaving, he asked if there was anything else we needed, so we could use the entire hour. I remembered that some sliding closet doors had come off the track - he fixed that within seconds.....literally....so we STILL had about 20 minutes left. I hesitated to ask for more, but Donny was more than willing to help, so I had him raise a set of drapes in my daughters room. Voila! In just one hour four home improvement projects that had lingered for MONTHS was done - definitely the best $60 we've ever spent. We'll definitely hire Mr. Handyman again!
Description of Work: We've hired Mr. Handyman twice now - the first time to install crown molding and then to repair siding, stretch carpet, repair closet doors and move and hang drapes. Each time we've been been VERY happy with the results.
