I found them on Angie's List where they had pretty good records. I was satisfied with their work as it was great. They guys who came out were friendly and seemed to know what they were doing. They just went about my business and they did not bother me.

I really liked these guys. They were competent, friendly, and got along with my dogs. They were hard workers, completed the work quickly, and Walter seemed quite genuine about trying to save me money. The only thing I was slightly disappointed about was that the wooden privacy fence isn't quite uniformly level on the top, but I accepted his explanation that to achieve that would require earth-moving equipment and would cost much more, or lower the fence height below what I wanted. Wasn't worth it to me and I'm fine with the fence as it is. The thing I was most favorably impressed about was the fact that he did not quote me an estimate, he quoted me a price. Several times I heard him say variations on and quot;That was a lot more work than I thought it would be...and quot; and readied myself for the usual mark-up between estimate and final cost. Never happened. The only time I paid more than the original quote was when I added something more to the job myself. I definitely intend to hire these guys again, when I finally save up the money for the next round of repairs and remodeling.

He said he would stop by the following Monday afternoon to view my yard and give me an estimate. The company never showed up nor did they call to reschedule the appointment. I called them later that afternoon and left a message for them to return my call so we could reschedule the appointment. After not hearing back from them within a couple of days, I called and left another message for them to return my call. I would never recommend using a contractor who doesn't keep their appointments, doesn't return messages, or have the courtesy to make a call and advise they need to reschedule/advise that something has popped up.

An old, broken-down fence and side gate needed to be quickly replaced to discourage break-ins (there have been a couple in the neighborhood). Walter Goodman did it well, in addition to coming up with a good idea to make the fence better-looking.

His price was very fair. He was responsive and punctual. I would definitely hire him again in the future.

Mike was very efficient. The quality was very good and when asked his opinion on some repairs he was very straight forward like he was spending his own money.

Called Mr. Goodman, got his answering machine, he returned my call very next day. One day afterward he was at my house to give me an estimate on the work to be done. His price was reasonable and accepted. Next day he began the work. He worked steadily from morning to evening, taking only lunch breaks. He had the right amount of supplies and did not need to run to the hardware store. The work was done at good speed. There is still work to be done around my home and when the time is right I will call him again. I found Mr. Goodman and his helper to be very considerate.

Walter Goodman is one of a dying breed of contractors. He does what he says he's going to do and has a great work ethic. Even in during some of the worst heat/humidity we have seen in many years, Walter showed up every day. Had to force him to take breaks and stay hydrated in the incredible heat. Walter is pretty much a one-man-show. If Walter had to bid other work, he always let us know he'd be late or had to leave early. Walter worked with us on a new wood deck design and rolled with changes, made suggestions for better efficiency and use of materials. Walter is a good collaborator - took our ideas and made suggestions for the best way to proceed. He also repaired our wood fence gates, built a new ramp for our shed and weatherproofed the shed doors. He suggested we install gable vents in the shed to dissipate intense early summer heat, which we gladly had him complete. Walter replaced our gutters and installed gutter guards. He even helped me repair my garden hose! Walter's primary talent is in siding, replacement gutters and gutter guards. He also installs and repairs windows and doors. We will be using him next year to remove/replace vinyl siding as he insulates our 1920 house. Walter is great with our 3 dogs and cat. He helped chase down our basset hound when the dog bolted through the gate. He loves all animals.
