Byrley Painting

Called Mr. Byrley on August 20th and explained that we needed all the weathered framing around 12 windows and 2 doors to be scraped and painted. Asked for an estimate for this work which was arranged for the following evening after he got off from a current job he was working on. Mr. Byrley arrived punctually at the appointed time and took his time to view all the windows and doors in question. We discussed what paint should be used, he asked whether we had any of our own (we did not), and then discussed whether he still had some in his stock or that we would have to get it from a local supplier. He then gave an estimate for the entire paint job to be done and the approximate prices for the gallon to a gallon and a half that might be needed for the entire job, whether from his stock or the local supplier. He was.forthcoming as to when he could fit our home into his current schedule and estimated that it would be at least two weeks before he could start. He would call us and let us know. He called on Sunday, September 4th (2 1/2 weeks later), and informed us he would start the next day, after his current job, and planned to work 2 or 3 hours each evenings until the job was done. He arrived promptly at 5:45 pm the following two evening and worked until past dark. and was done in two days. This gentleman was courteous, patient with answers to the questions we asked, and volunteered information about one window problem he found that should be addressed by us in the near future. He was an old school professional with whom one could deal on the basis of a handshake. A job well done and a painter with whom we will deal for any of our future painting needs.

quality was fine. underestimated house and requested add'l monies. window work was the cause. we agreed to request because quality high and it was obvious time spent was high. this pushed the job above next bid received.

Don Byerly had already painted the outside of our house and the first floor, on separate occasions. He was totally reliable, wonderfully careful with his brush, always willing to give and take advice as to color options. This guy is the best.

I called several contractors for an estimate but decided to go with an individual because of the higher level of accountability and because both my husband and myself were impressed with him when he came out to give us his estimate. He was responsive in terms of trying to fit us in with his pre-existing clients and also patient while I took a little while making color choices for one of the rooms. He arrived each day on time-actually he got ahead of schedule one day and ended up moving furniture himself -including a couple larger pieces-without a single scratch on hardwood floors or breaking anything inside the cabinet. I trusted him completely inside the house and I am exceedingly security conscious. As I stated above, we were entirely pleased and are using Don to paint the exterior of the house in the spring.
