+ 3 moreEverything went smoothly and he was finished before the estimated time allotment he gave me. As always, a great job.
Description of Work: Terry did several projects for me that day. I had him reseat a toilet that was loose. He completely removed the toilet and replaced the wax ring and bolts before leveling it and caulking all around it. The toilet has never been as sturdy as it is now. Terry also installed a ceiling fan in the kitchen, replaced electric switches, and replaced the hanging light fixture in the foyer. Everything was done well and quickly. Terry has done several jobs for us and we always call him first for general home repairs. If he doesn't feel he can do it he will say so and even recommend someone to do the work we request. He always arrives on time and is prepared to work. His work is done at a careful yet steady pace so the hourly rate I pay him is fair and well earned. While he was here we discussed the next projects I would like to have done and he was very informative as to what steps he would take and made suggestions about how best to prepare for his arrival to save time and money.

+ 1 moreAfter my call, Terry was able to come out the very next day (the week before Christmas). He arrived on time and was very professional. He surveyed the job and estimated how long he thought it would take to complete. He began work immediately removing the ceiling insulation, catching most in a large trash bag. The job was complicated by the new fixture having a different sized frame, additional electrical needs (night light), and venting directly into the attic. At each decision-point, Terry would come and ask what I would like to do. I really appreciated that! He got the fan installed using some scrap lumber from his truck. It looks great and works great too. We did not go ahead and have an extra electric line added to run the "night lite" but Terry gave me a cost estimate if we decided to have him return to complete that part of the job. He cleaned up and took with him, every particle of insulation, etc from the job.
Description of Work: Terry replaced the bathroom ceiling light and fan fixture. It was a project my husband had tried to do but found it a bit too complicated. The replacement fixture was a different shape than the original and needed some "jerry-rigging" to make it fit. The job required he go back and forth between the attic and the bathroom, dig through insulation, and get the wiring to work - which he did.

Since he's pretty much a one man company, he was here a whole day fixing various things. He has done some electrical for us and built some blocks around the house where the ground had settled too much. He has also plastered from where we had past roof leaking problems. He has also replaced an outlet in our bathroom. He actually came back and we paid him for one full day and another time he came back in for two hours. He comes on time and I can trust him in my house. He does come and assess the work before he does it.
Description of Work: He came in and had to do the plaster in the garage in one spot because of the pitch of our house. We had an ongoing leak.

He used my existing hardware from my old door. This was a basement door, and Terry must have made 50 trips up and down the stairs as he did all the cutting outside to keep out the sawdust.

He welcomed my questions and explained the functioning of the new toilet parts he installed. He cleaned up after himself and was available later when I needed an adjustment made on one of the toilets.
Description of Work: Terry replaced the fill valves, flappers, and supply lines on my two toilets. He also replaced the ice maker filter on my refrigerator and gave an opinion about whether the copper line ought to be replaced with a flexible one. He also looked at my clothes dryer vent set-up in my attic and agreed to return in warmer weather to possibly replace some piping. He returned 2-3 days later and adjusted the flapper on one toilet to prevent it from double flushing.

So I knew exactly what to tell the other contractors what I wanted done. He came out at another date after working on two doors and repaired a crank on a window. He took out the bad mechanism and installed a new one. He did an excellent job and the price was very reasonable. I will be calling him soon for additional things I need done.
Description of Work: In May this year, 2006, Terry came out to install a deadbolt on a door and replaced the plunger on another door.

+ 5 moreTerry did an excellent job on everything. He accomplished several things that other companies said they couldn't do. He took care of a leak around the shower door and cut and fit an internal door that had been scraping the floor. When other companies told me the whole shower would have to be replaced and the entire door frame would have to be replaced. Terry found a way to do these repairs the most logical and economical way. His prices were reasonable, he was professional, on time for appointments and his work ethic was excellent. I still have some additional areas to do. I will be calling him to take care of them in the spring.
Description of Work: Installed new interior door, towel holder, repaired bedroom bench, cut, painted and replaced all wood framing on chimney, replaced 3 drains in bathrooms, installed 4 new porch lights, installed new Delta valve trim kit in guest bath and a new toilet flapper, painted house numbers, repaired shower door and some other miscellaneous items.
