My experience with this company has been HORRIBLE! I have a older electric clothes dryer that was displaying multiple issues, but still functional. My previous and awesome repair company was not able to service the dryer due to a move, so I called Trustworthy Appliance Service after checking Angie's List. I was first interested in a diagnosis to determine if the repair was worth it (versus replacement) and listed the numerous symptoms for the technician, including a hot-smelling motor when running. He immediately, WITHOUT LOOKING AT OR TURNING ON OR TOUCHING the dryer, made a diagnosis as a blower fan, gave me a quote for what he assured would resolve all issues, and completed the repair. Within a few days, the dryer quit working completely - it would not turn. I called the company, and the owner consented to a refund once the technician came and checked to make sure it wasn't just a "loose wire" as I would not have consented to spending more that already paid on a repair, had it been diagnosed correctly in the first place. Meanwhile I am without a dryer and must use the laundromat. Upon the second visit, the technician said it was a broken belt (totally consistent with the original hot motor symptom!!) and so I called to confirm refund needed after declining a free belt. I received no call back from the company after three days and had to call back (Geraldine originally said she would need to contact the owner the following day to pass along paper work to get final authorization from the owner for the refund and she would call back to process). The owner then tried to argue that the technician could have fixed for free the undiagnosed belt issue and acted as if he did not have the details of the case even though he had authorized the refund contingent upon a re-check by the technician (Jimmy) several days prior via Geraldine (office staff). Finally after frustration and argument, the refund was authorized and I will NEVER call this company again!

I was a little nervous about this hire, because of all the bad reviews about their work for warranty repairs. However, I went ahead with the hire because the only other choice Electrolux gave me, Beesons, couldn't come out for over a week. I am glad I called Trustworthy. The problem was a simple and straightforward repair, so I can't speak to how they would handle more complex issues or need for parts under the manufacturer's warranty. They were able to come within a day of my call. They were prompt, easily diagnosed and fixed the issue. They filed the warranty paperwork and there was no cost to me. I would hire them again.
Description of Work: I needed warranty repair for an Electrolux dryer, only 2 months old. The drum stopped turning.

installation and installer was fine. He replaced an ice maker that was leaking in a refrigerator I have had for 10 years. After a short time, the ice maker started making a large popping noise, which the old one never made. It is now leaking like the old one as well as making a large popping noise. When I called, the lady said that the warranty was only for 90 days and refused to do anything. She hung up on me when I objected to this. Apparently they expect you to buy a new ice maker ever 90 days for $250. I will not do business with them again.

In July, we purchased a new house with a Frigidaire dishwasher included. The dishwasher wasn't drying the dishes, leaving a greasy/slimy film behind and wasn't cleaning well. After having an initial conversation with the Trustworthy technician, he stated this is a common problem with this machine. He told us we needed to use a different type of detergent as recommended by the manufacturer. Two days after the original visit, our dishwasher began to not work when we hit the start button. None of the buttons on the control panel worked. We called for a technician for return visit. My whole problem with Trustworthy was not the repair technician. He was very nice and seemed sympathetic to the fact that our dishwasher was a lemon. However, the whole issue is the warranty repair clerk, Robin. She is incredibly rude and unhelpful. The second time I called for service, she answered the phone with "What's the problem now?" What a great way to greet a client! I was treated as a total inconvenience by Robin. After waiting 4 days to call Frigidaire for additional assistance to get our lemon dishwasher replaced, they advised Trustworthy still hadn't submitted their paperwork with the repair resolution. I'm not sure who's responsibility it is to submit the paperwork, but since Robin is the warrant repair clerk, I can only guess it's hers. This is not the first time we have used Trustworthy for service. We used them at our previous residence too. We just haven't used them for any type of warranty repair. Unfortunately, due to the rude manner in which I was treated, I will not be using them for service again in the future.
Description of Work: Service tech was asked to repair the dishwasher. After 2 visits, there were no actual repairs made on my machine.

I was very happy with the service, the gentleman was very nice and polite and seemed to know exactly what he was doing. Did the work quickly and efficiently and cleaned up after himself completely. My price was a little higher because I live quite a ways from Lafayette so I had a mileage charge added which I am used to when hiring people from Lafayette and considering how far they have to travel I think is a fair request..

First, the man who came looked at my Fisher Paykel dryer and said he didn't know how to fix it. I informed him that I told them when I called what type of appliances I had, but the woman who took my information did not listen to me and was rude. He listened to the dryer for 5 minutes. I told him I thought it was the bearings and he said the last time he tried to fix a Fisher Paykel it took him two days to find parts. He charged me $59.50 for a 'service call' and wrote on the receipt that 'Bearing kits are needed for the dryer, need to find parts to give customer exact price." He told me the last time he tried to find parts he was on the phone to the Netherlands at 2AM to get them. He said he would look, and I told him so would I. After he left it took me less than five minutes to find the Fisher Paykel Genuine Parts warehouse and the part (not parts) that was needed at a cost of $90. Sears also had them for $10 less. I waited until the next day and called asking for my estimate. "Jim" told me that the parts would cost over $400. I questioned him as to why his parts were four times higher than what I could get them for from a retailer. He told me he would get back to me. Someone else called back and said I would need two bearing sets, and that if I got the parts, they would put them in for $130. As I said, the unit only has one bearing set. I called back again asking why they are saying I need two sets when the manufacturer said one, and they insisted their 'tech' said it needed two. I ordered the single bearing set, called back and talked to "Jim" who 'fast talked' over me when I explained to him that they were WAY overcharging, didn't know what they were talking about when it came to the parts, and that the schematic, had they looked at it, clearly showed one bearing set. I asked for a refund. He insisted they didn't do 'anything morally wrong' and after more fast talk, agreed to give me a refund of the $59.50 they charged for the 'service call'. Oh...the tech didn't have his 'swipe thing' (his words) and wrote down my credit card number. Not cool. I would NEVER recommend these people to anyone. Very unprofessional.

Mrs. [member name removed, On February 3, 2015 our service technician came to your home to repair your dryer. Because our service writer didn’t write down the brand name our tech didn’t have that info until he got there. Once he realized that it was a Fisher Paykel and that he didn’t have very much experience on that brand he called me to ask what to do. He knew it needed drum bearings, but wasn’t sure how to install them. Since we had another tech that had done that job several times before, we decided to try to help you then, instead of delaying the process by rescheduling a time when the other tech could look at it. Our intention was to ask the more experienced tech’s advice on the estimate and to send him back to install the parts. We knew that you needed 2 bearings but our mistake was in not knowing that both bearings came in one kit. It is true that we have had trouble in the past getting Fisher Paykel parts, but that has recently changed as some of the major parts distributors have started carrying them. We found that our local supplier could get what we needed in a day or two. The suggested list price for this part at Reliable Parts is $145.95. We were going to charge $139.95 each. I have no idea why the sears price is so much lower. The reason the estimate got so high is because we thought we needed 2 parts. Our estimate was as follows: $279.90 for parts + $59.50 service call +$130.00 labor +19.59 tax= $488.99 minus the service call payment of $59.50=$429.49. If we would have known that we only needed 1 kit it would have been $339.25-$59.50=$279.75 balance due. Our labor rate is not an hourly rate but is based on a level of difficulty. We use a national job rate guide to establish those rates. We usually offer significant discounts off of their suggested prices. The job rate guide suggests is $99.95 service call charge on Fisher Paykel and $142.70 for labor which is a #5 on a scale of 1-10 for level of difficulty. Their suggested price for part is $179.25. Their total price for the job is $451.82 vs our price of $339.25 (approximately 25% lower). If you had ordered 2 kits like we suggested and had us do the work, then we would have paid to have the extra part sent back. The other concern you had was about our tech writing down your credit card number. He did write the last 4 digits of your card on the invoice in order to I.D. which card you used, but we do not keep credit card numbers on file. I don’t think we did anything dishonest, but I do agree that we made mistakes during this process and we should have done much better. For that I am sincerely sorry. That is why I agreed to refund the service call charge. We have been in business for 27 years and we do value each customer. I apologize if I didn’t convey that to you. If you would allow me to, I would like to make it up to you by offering a free service call in the future. I will send a copy of the page from our job rate guide and a coupon for free service call charge. Sincerely, Jim Wood

They didn’t repair. It was too much. They charged $59 for the trip out here and the diagnosis, which will be credited to if I decide to have them work here. I asked them a lot of questions about which should I look for in an oven because I’m considering a new oven. He was so helpful. He probably spent 15 or 20 minutes talking to me about it and answering all my questions once we figured out what was wrong. I really appreciated that because it will make a difference to what I purchased. He didn’t give me brand. He just told me what I needed to look for.
Description of Work: I used Trustworthy Appliance Service & Sales when I needed my oven repaired. He told me what was wrong. The oven won’t bake. The stovetop is okay. It’s basically the computer on the inside of the stove and that’s what they’re going to have it replaced.

I had two problems. 1. the hot water heater pilot light would not stay lit. 2. Our gas cloths dryer would not run. Mike arrived right on time. The cloths dryer was easy it needed a new fuse and Mike had it up and running quickly. The problem seemed to be a blocked dryer air duct. Cleaned it out and it's as good as new. The water heater was a different story. This Sears Kenmore had a unique thermal couple and valve. Mike tried the thermal couple first and found out the electronic valve was the problem. Had to order a new one. It took awhile but it is up and running. good Job!!!

I had to reschedule my first appointment because I got caught up helping a friend move (it was more involved than I had expected). I called Trustworthy to let them know that I wouldn't be home at the appointed time, and the person I spoke (not Jerry, but I can't remember the guy's name. Joe? Ben? Some monosyllabic name) with was rather prickly about this. I've had good experience with Trustworthy in the past, so I brushed it off and rescheduled. For the rescheduled appointment, Jerry came on time and was very polite and professional. He figured out what was going on, disassembled and mucked out the dishwasher drain and got it cleared. I hadn't realized before that cleaning your dishwasher is a routine process to keep it from getting mucked up (the store sells tablets for this - invest in them!). Also, the previous homeowner had failed to attach the drain hose to the sink disposal, which would have helped to alleviate this problem. Jerry offered to attach it properly for $200, but we declined, as money is tight right now. He got the dishwasher running properly and then cleaned up the area, and while I was paying I mentioned that I am an Angie's List member, so he knocked $5 off the price. Yay! One issue we've had since is that the door didn't open all the way afterwards. It used to drop down and be flat, but now it's at a slight angle. It's not a big deal, and over time it's settled back closer to being flat. UPDATE: The door opens all the way now, it just needed to settle back into place.

Mike, the technician, called at approximately 1:05pmto let me know he was on his way. My appointment was scheduled between 1-5pm and he was at my door by 1:15. He was polite, honest, and professional. He took a look at the dryer, found the problem, gave estimates, and placed the work order for delivery. Very happy with Trustworthy!
Description of Work: Came to check old dryer and discovered motor and fan blown. Got an estimate for repair as well as used replacement dryer. I chose to replace and set up delivery for Tuesday, 11/4/2014. I'll let you know how that goes.

First visit said that nothing was wrong and couldn't explain the error codes on the washer. Second visit, ordered a part, guaranteed installation "this week." No contact from them. After we called, they had the part. Couldn't install for a week. I guess that other customers are more important.

On September 19th, 2014 our service technician came out to your home to work on your LG Washer. The complaint was that it would not start. The technician was unable to find a problem as the machine worked ok for him. He tried it several times to get it to fail but it worked every time. The technician saw no error codes at that time. On October 14th, 2014 we were called again and this time the technician was able to see the problem occur and determined that it needed the door lock assembly. He gave an estimate that did not include a service call since it was charged on the previous visit. This price also included a significant discount off our normal price for parts and labor on this repair. The technician said the part would take a day or two to get but did not schedule a return trip at that time. If that created a misunderstanding, I apologize. When you called on October 17th, 2014 we had just received the part. Even though we were full, we worked you in that day to accommodate your schedule. It is possible that we could have communicated a little better, but we did give prompt service and completed the repair within 3 days after diagnosing the problem with your washer. They worked with my new-home warranty, but two seals were found to be bad in the dishwasher. They quickly and professionally replaced both and also rebalanced the dishwasher to ensure that it would not leak again in the future. The technician was prompt, professional, and friendly.

The provider arrived on time and was very efficient in removing the old microwave and installing the new one. Any mess made by the removal of the old microwave and installation of the new one was taken care of by the installer. I didn't have to clean up anything after the installer left. The installer was also very helpful in informing me about the operation of the new microwave. The installer was very courteous and friendly.

The service was great. Technician called just before coming out. Ran the dishwasher through a few cycles to re-create problem. He diagnosed the problem to be the type of dish soap we were using (liquid) and the dishwasher couldn't discharge the amount of suds it produced. He suggested using the powdered soap. The dishwasher worked properly while he was here. We feel confident in using our dishwasher again. He offered many other suggestions as well to care for our machine and keep it running well for years to come.

My six year old Electrolux electric dryer was generating a humming noise on startup, and would not turn. If I opened the door, pressed the door switch and started the dryer, I could get it to start by manually advancing the drum. Jimmy was prompt, professional and guaranteed his service for thirty days (also provided me a quote for if my motor would need to be replaced). Housecall lasted about 25-30 minutes and the technician was friendly and explained some possible areas to be mindful about in the future. Overall very satisfied

When I called to make the initial appointment, the secretary was very accommodating with my limited-availability schedule. The day of the appointment the repairman was 30-45 minutes late, but I had been told when I made the appointment that due to the late hour of my appointment, the repairman might run a little late. When Eddy arrived he was incredibly professional and let me know what was broken and the cost of the repair before he began the actual work. Both my dryer and washing machine work great!!
