TruGreen Lawn Care - 5748

Terrible service; service person randomly walked the property spraying; many weeds left; multiple attempts to contact the Lafayette office - the phone number is now out of service and not working; tried to cancel 3 times; still getting billing for unwanted service; If the company would have provided standard, quality weed control we would still be a client. We need a good service for five yards.

Their products have quick results.

Overall, Trugreen did a good job. Our lawn never looks very good, but I suspect it is more from being on hard clay soil and our lack of watering it. We do not have a problem with weeds, though. Trugreen always calls the day before to let me know when they are coming. The only complaint I have is the constant calls starting in early March asking me to sign up for the year. They called at least 8 times in 2 weeks, leaving messages. We have used them for three years.

I rated them an "F" because I don't want the service and it's not communicated the first time to stop when I request so.

Experience has been very well. They always let me know when they have arrived, and always identified themselves. No complaints.

I'm not very happy with them. My yard doesn't look good this year. Last year it was okay; was satisfactory as far as I'm concerned. I called and got a hold of some lady; it wasn't local. Anyhow; she said she'll take care of it but that was a couple of weeks ago and still nothing. The guy who takes care of the bushes seemed good.

I got a special deal in the mail. I have never used a lawn care service before so I decided to try this one. I called and got a nice person who told me what I would receive for my money. She said I would get a call when they were coming out (weather permitting) and they would leave something on my door telling me what was done and put a flag in the yard. No one came for more than two weeks.... and the weather was nice. So I called and they said someone would be coming. Later I got an automated call with an approximate date. No one showed up. I got several recorded messages saying someone would come at approximate dates, no one did. I called again, got some excuse and was told they would come. No one did. I called again and finally got a call for an approximate date, someone did came and sprayed something. My yard looks pretty good. I think they came one more time as I collected 2 flags. Then I got a call from the out of town office saying they would be coming to spray for grubs. I said I didn't have grubs and didn't want a spray. She told me all the reasons I should have the extra spray which costs 80 some extra dollars. I said I didn't want that and finally she said OK after I told her I wouldn't pay for the spray if they came and did it, as I only wanted what I had already paid for. I told her I was sorry I got their service since everything seemed to be screwed up with when they were coming. She apologized. Then a week or so later, (yesterday) I got a call from a guy who said he heard I didn't want the spray and that I should have it and all the advantages I would have with a beautiful yard. (I must say I'm not all that crazy about grass anyway). I told him I didn't want grub spray and that I had told the woman that on the phone when she called. He got very pushy and wouldn't accept the fact that I didn't want the service/product. He just wouldn't take no for an answer. I told him that he was badgering me and I didn't want the spray. He wouldn't give up. He kept hounding me with why I should have the spray. He said they couldn't give me a nice yard without it. I told him I wasn't intersted and to quit badgering me, he said he wasn't badgering me, that he was just trying to make me understand that I really needed the spray. He repeated several times that he was just trying to make me understand. I told him I DID understand and that I just didn't want it. About this time I as getting upset and I told him so. Still he wouldn't accept my reasoning. He said "You are telling me that for 80 some dollars you are taking a chance on not having a nice yard." And on and on and on..... At this point I said that I didn't want it and I wouldn't pay for it if they did it anyway and I was very sorry I hired them in the first place. He still wouldn't let it go, so I said, "Have a nice day, good by," and hung up. Actually I had to calm down just to write this review. The recording said that the conversation would be recorded and I sure hope it was. I'm so sorry I hired Trugreen. I should have continued with what I was doing and let it go. By the way, during my first conversation, when I gave them my credit card numbers, I asked if they automatically renewed my contract and charged my credit card for the next season and she said 'yes'....I then made sure she understood that this was a one season commitment and not to re-upt me automatically.... She wasn't happy but agreed. I don't trust that they will not automatically sign me up for another season. I will keep watch.

Fall treatment of lawn.

My lawn received the contracted six applications of fertilizer, and seasonal herbicides. Most were in liquid form, but some were granular. \ The company always called to alert us to the upcoming application, and we always had an opportunity at that time if we wanted to postpone it for any reason. We have a sprinkler system, which is set to run every two days; at times of high temps and drought, we run it daily as needed, so we do our part to maintain our lawn in good shape., in conjunction with the fertilizer. This year our lawn is in excellent color and shape, and we are considering continuing with Tru Green in 2014, although we are checking competitive quotes to see if they are indeed competitive On the negative side, we experienced a price increase halfway through the season from $48 to $52 per application, and the firm explained that the cost of their chemicals suddenly rose. We elected to continue the contract through the end of the year. Further, in late September they were very aggressive in trying to induce us to have our lawn core-aerated. After the third call, and our refusal, they were told not to contact us again about it, and they complied. Overall, the fertilization/herbicide application was very effective, and the operatior who performed the applications was always courteous and professional.

They're dependable and do a good job. I'm happy and satisfied with the work they do and will more than likely hire them again next summer.

I wasn't happy with them at all. They did spray the weeds but now we have this ugly crag grass. My dogs have fleas, so I'm not sure if the gentleman actually sprayed for the fleas or not. I was just not happy with their service. I called them and we had an appointment for the gentleman to come out and look at the lawn. I was going to ask them out to get rid of this crag grass. It's thick, wide grass. The gentleman never showed up for the appointment. He didn't leave a note on the door. He never came. I'm really dissatisfied with their service. They came in and they sprayed one time and they came back because I saw more weeds. In my opinion, they did not do a good job, especially for the brand name of company; I was really disappointing. It would have been more to do the backyard or to spray the weeds between the sidewalks. I was just not satisfied with the performance of their company. I wouldn't call them again. They never got back to me.

Tru Green has been servicing our lawn for over two years now (fertilization, pesticides, weed control). We have not been overly impressed with the overall effect on our lawn. We've been told for two years in a row that our crabgrass takes a while to get rid of and that is should be gone by the next season, however, I still have A LOT of crabgrass. They did take care of our clover problem and dandelions very quickly. I have unfortunately noticed that on occasion when they come to service the property that they do not do the entire property line leaving us with parts of our yard looking terrible. One problem I have with the company is their constant need to call almost weekly to add another service on top of what I have contracted them to do. I did have a situation where I did not answer the call and a service was done without my approval and I was unfortunately charged for it as well. The company did reimburse me, but it was very frustrating to deal with.

My other half thought we should have lawn services performed on our yard a couple of years ago so he signed up. Services were for 6 applications during various times from March through October. In previous years, services were appriopriate and needed. We were making headway with our yard. With the bad drought last year, we thought that a couple of the applications might not really be necessary and would be a waste of our money. Without rain, most of this stuff doesn't really work. I called to cancel the May application. We were told all the reasons why we should continue with the treatments. (I had just finished a seminar with lawn specialists through our Master Gardener program and had concerns about some of the applications.) I insisted that the application be cancelled. Tru-Green was to make a note in the computer of my request. In a couple of days, the representative knocked on our door to say he was there to make the application. I informed him that I had cancelled that treatment a few days earlier. He was very polite and indicated there was no problem, just a miscommunication. When June came around, Tru-Green left an automated voice message that the application would be performed in a few days. I immediately called back and requested cancellation of this service. This one was for grubs with which we don't have a problem. I received the same song and dance about why the application should be done. Again, I insisted the application be cancelled. A few days later I found Tru-Green's sign in our yard regarding the application as I was backing out of our garage. I called the company and was told there were no notes in the system about a cancellation and was assured that we would not be charged. A week later, the bill arrived. We paid the bill and I wrote the company a letter outlining the circumstances and that there service was no longer required. It was not said, but I believe my calls were ignored because I go by a different last name. I thought the company's conduct was inappropriate and that they didn't really care about customer service and working with the customer. The company did follow-up with a call to my other half but wouldn't talk with me.

They provided us a good service. They came out when they said they would come out. They were very professional and our lawn looks really nice.

We've used them for more than 10 years. They have done good work for us. They leave detailed reports of what they have done and what we need to do to keep our lawn in shape.

I have a contract with TruGreen. I spend about $400 a year. The grass has started to grow again, and we will probably see them soon. They come throughout the year. They do a good job and keep me informed of any problem with the lawn. I renewed my contract with them.
