Steve's Overhead Door Co

From planning to installation, the staff of Steve's Overhead Door was a pleasure to work with. Their staff member guided me in the details of selecting a garage door for a new construction shed. The price was fair and the product excellent. I scheduled the installation a week in advance. An associate came out in advance to take measurements. The installers arrived exactly when scheduled and had the new door installed and operational in less than 90 minutes. The door operates perfectly and looks great.

Excellent. All problems/requests were completely resolved with one visit. Couple of months out, still working fine. - Don't have records with me ... I think work was early December 2018. Total costs, as best as I can recall, were in $550 +/- 100 range, including the new opener. Recommend getting direct quote since costs recall is fuzzy.

Joe arrived on time, within 90 minutes of my call. He was very knowledgeable and efficient. It took 25 minutes to assess, replace, lubricate, check system, and complete billing. I was charged $128, which I thought was fair. I would not hesitate to call them in the future.

Very well. The representative came on time, had the part in hand and made the repair very quickly.

The service person replaced the springs and checked various other things on the garage door, making adjustments and performing service. I was very pleased with his attention to all the details and to the way he explained everything he needed to do and then showed me everything when he was done.

I called the company and they sent a worker out immediately. I was very surprised by the immediate response. I met the worker at my home. He had the springs replaced in less than an hour, and the cost was at the low end of the estimate range that I was given over the phone. The worker was courteous and friendly. It was the ideal, perfect experience for a home repair job.

Called an hour before they opened but call answered and routed promptly. Was informed that they could arrive immediately or wait until after they opened which would avoid 'after hours' rates. Labor/service call rate was more than expected but technician was courteous, efficient and thorough.

They came and fixed it and were friendly. Then it needed fixing again less than 6 months later. They came and fixed it and gave me a little break on the price and were friendly. Then it needed fixing again ...????They were going to charge me again (no we don't use it alot) Finally, I called another company and they fixed it. I waited awhile to put this review in to make sure it didn't break. Over 7 months now and no problems

They did a very good job. It only took them about 1/2 day to remove old door and tracks. Installed the new door with all new tracks and hardware. Reinstall garage door opener and adjusted it properly. Cleaned up good after they completed the job. Have not had any problems with the new door. Very happy with the door and the service.

Excellent! They came the same day we called and were very professional on the phone and in person. Carmen and Justin did a great job!

They were very professional and knew what they were doing. Highly recommend them for any garage job new or repair.

Very good experience. Had to call them out on a Saturday after the spring in the garage door broke and the door would not open. A tech was there within 15 minutes, had a new spring installed in under a hour. Only got charged for straight time.

I called at about noon on 12/18 and described the problem. Was put on hold briefly and was told a technician could be over by 1:00. I was expecting to wait a few days, but the technician arrived promptly at 1:00. We examined the situation, which was uncommon, and I was given an estimate to replace all the items described above for $150. Brad was done by 2:15 and everything worked perfectly. I was shown how to properly maintain the hardware too. In the 10 years I've owned the home, the garage has never worked better. Excellent, friendly, fast work. I couldn't be happier.

They came out within 2 hours of me calling them and the repair was done in less than an hour. I have used them for the last 20 years and I have never had a problem. They had put a little sticker right by my garage door opener so I don't have to look them up. Pretty handy :) Decided to look them up on Angie's List and leave them a review because they have always done a good job. Don't even know who else I would call if I had to. Suppose I would use the phone book if they hadn't left that sticker.

I was really impressed with how quickly they were able to schedule an appointment. What stood out about their service was I was really impressed by how quickly they were able to come and I like how the service technician very thoroughly explained what he’s done. In a previous service call, they really helped us out. I would recommend them to anybody.

2-6-15 - Update: When I posted my review of Steve's Overhead Door Company, it was immediately after the repair. Now that there has been some time and other things have happened, I can add to my review of my experiences. It has been two months since my garage door repair was completed. The door has been lifting slowly. One of the lights that was repaired no longer works. I was preparing to call to have these things looked at, but with working long hours and being a busy single parent, it just hadn't happened yet. This past weekend, a lock on the door engaged and the door would not open. I called Steve's and said theycould send someone out or they could send someone during the week. I asked for help that night as my car was inside the garage. When the repair person called me, I was informed of some disappointing information. First, they do not cover any work under warranty on the weekend. Previous repairs, are not covered if the break occurs on the weekend regardless if your car is trapped in your garage, it is a Friday or Saturday or any other reason, (even if you had the repair completed the day before!). In my case, it was a dangerous situation as a large storm was coming in on Sunday. and next, he informed me that the fee would be $110 even if the company eventually decided the repair was covered by the warranty. I feel strongly there are three issues here, first, it is bad customer service to not cover previous work on the weekend, it is disloyal to loyal customers who return to your business to not offer some type of deal when they are returning for your business repeatedly, and third, charging $110, as an after-hours fee to get help on the weekend is exorbitant. First, I do not understand how a company can tell you they cover their work for a year, but if it breaks on certain days of the week, the warranty doesn't apply. If the repair was paid for by the customer in good faith failed in any way, a company's first reply should be that they will review the cause and determine if it is covered by the warranty, regardless of the day of the week the problem occurs. Second, I lose respect for companies that do not value returning customers. There is something to be said for customers to return to your business again and again and share their positive experiences with others. I hoped to be treated a little better when I called for service during my second interaction with this company. Although everyone is friendly, the prices, policies, and procedures are unreasonable. Even the repair man felt awful about the fee and the warranty coverage policy. Third, I agree, businesses need to make a profit, but $110, is really ridiculous. I had my garage door repaired by this company and I trust they will stand behind their work and be fair in their pricing. People are trapped in these situations and this presents a way to help people, or to harm them. So what do I mean by stand behind their work and fairness in pricing? As a single mother who just paid nearly two hundred dollars to fix the door spring and cables just two months ago (right before Christmas), a $110 is an exceptionally high fee to charge. How high is this fee? Even a plumber who must hold a license or an electrician who is putting their life in danger only charge between $60-$80 and many do not charge an after hours fee. Further, an $110 fee cannot be afforded, by most mothers and students who work part-time jobs. In today's economy, many workers work several part time jobs. For an hourly worker, $110 is one week's pay at minimum wage before taxes...and it took, Justin only 20 minutes to drive to my house and disengage the door and spray some lubricant on the cables (10 minutes on the door and paperwork)....and the light still does not work. But.... I did receive the bill in the mail for $110.00. 12-8-14- My garage door broke one Sunday. It would raise about a foot and then slam closed when I tried to close it. I was really worried. I called Steve's and my call was immediately answered. I was offered immediate service on the same day or any day of my choice. As it was the weekend and my car was not stuck in the garage and the door was not stuck open, I told them I could be at home between 12:30-2:30pm on Monday or anytime in the late morning and early afternoon on Tuesday. The technician called me first thing Monday morning. They had no problem coming at 12:30. The technician was on time, polite and gave me an estimate. He began working on it right away. He took the reels, the wire and the spring off. He cut a new spring and new wire. He fixed the garage door spring, replaced the wire that lifts the door, replaced the two light sockets and bulbs on the door open motor, and he adjusted the antenna for better remote reception. Then he explained everything he did. He also replaced the wire with a better quality wire that he stated will last much longer. He did all of this in 45 minutes. The price was ok, the service was great.

Technician was super nice and went above and beyond to not just fix the problem and make the door operational again, but made adjustments so the door would function at it's best. He was very knowledgable and clearly took pride in his work, I would highly recommend.

I called Saturday and they came out first thing this morning. He found something wrong with the rollers and fixed it at no charge.

Steve's Overhead is always a pleasure to use. They come out, a**** the problem and we worked out a solution. They were willing to work around my schedule, which always helps, considering all that was completed. They came out, took my garage door off and fixed the track issues. Then I sanded the door myself, painted it, and gave it a top coat. Then I gave them a call and they came back out to put it on for me. They were very helpful, and didn't charge me and arm and leg to take the door off, replace two panels, and then came back and put the garage door up. In the future we will always choose Steve's Overhead Door.

On time, fixed the problem, didn't try and up-sell me on a new opener...even though it caused the problem.

I called and spoke with Jon regarding the problem with our garage door. He asked a lot of questions as to what the spring looked like and how our opener system worked. He looked to see that they had the parts needed for our door and then scheduled someone to come out that afternoon. Brian arrived right on time and stated "I'm here to fix your door". Brian completed the job within the hour and our door works like new. Both Jon and Brian were very professional . We will definitely call Steve's Overhead Door again.

One of the steel brackets that held up our garage door opener had broken. We called Steve's at 8am and they had a technician there by 10:15am (which was about a half hour later then they had estimated, but since I just called that morning, that wasn't a huge deal). The technician was very friendly and explained to me what needed to be done. He replaced all of the steel mounting brackets for our garage door opener, making it much sturdier then it had been. He also inspected the door to make sure everything else was right. I will definitely use Steve's again when I need garage door repair.

We emailed them on Sunday night, April 6. They called at 8 the next morning, April 7. Within the hour a repairman came to check out the problem. Within the span of two hours the problem was fixed and the garage doors checked out to make sure there were no other problems. The repairman (GN) was friendly and professional. I would highly recommend this company! It's rare that you have repair problems fixed so promptly!
