F C Electric

It’s so nice when you find an electrician you can really trust. FC Electric has been out to my house multiple times, three of which were to research and fix problems with its very strange wiring. Everyone who has been out has been polite, courteous, and knowledgeable - they’ve always gotten the work done right the first time, and quickly too. They are the only electricians I call.

Paul and his team have always done a great job on my homes and has always been reasonably priced.

This occurred on a weekend and Paul took extra time to ensure the problem was fixed. A++++!

Not sure how to rate... Called to receive an estimate on fixing grounding issue on some electrical outlets. Two men came fairly quickly. I told them the issue I was having and they got right to work.. Ten minutes later they had the issue fixed and asked for $120 bucks... No estimate given, they just fixed the problem without even discussing the fees with me... I wasn't in any mood to argue or anything... Was in the middle of selling the house so just happy to have the item checked off my list... But they gave me no breakdown on the charges, nor did I ask... Also I noticed their shoes were muddy and they made no effort to clean them when walking on my floors... Maybe it's just my inexperience dealing with contractors and I should have spoken up at the time... But I asked the person on the phone for estimate, not sure why that wasn't known by the people coming to my house.

Service was performed by Dave. He and his assistant showed up on time and were very professional. The installation job took about 35-40 minutes. Paul quoted me a standard hourly rate of 91 dollars per hour over the phone and Dave honored this rate when he gave me the bill. They do not prorate, so I was charged 91 plus 28 dollars for the two circuit breakers that it needed. Overall, I'm satisfied.

Paul and his crew did a great job. He was quick to respond to my phone calls and texts. He gave me an accurate estimate that was on par with other companies in town. They did the work quickly and worked with me to schedule convenient times to do so. I am very happy with their work.

I was told that outlets could not be moved which i have later come to find that they can be, i believe this group just said they couldnt because they did not want the hassle. They did not even look at the garage outlets like i asked. They told me that they are all grounded,"they could tell". I am not an idiot, i have limited time, so when i had the time i checked my outlets and half are ungrounded. I have sense had them repaired. Almost every one of my switches and outlets are crooked in the wall, and obviously. They are not flush to the wall because i was told i have thin well, which i do. However, I have sense learned there are shallow mounts. ALSO, they did not replace the old metal electrical housing with plastic as i though they would because it is safer and code at this time. I overall i am not happy. They were very nice, prompt, and seemed to work diligently but i question overall quality of work at this time.

Excellent quality and professionalism or work

The serviceman arrived on time and made the repair, but first had to leave to purchase a switch, which I expected he would have on hand in his truck. When I made the appointment I was told that the service call charge was $71.00 and that it should be an easy fix, in which case it would not be more than that, but then I was charged for the time the serviceman took to go to the hardware store (which is 5 minutes from the house), for a total of 1 1/2 hours. So I ended up paying $160.00 for and quot;a quick fix - more than twice what was quoted. I called the owner but he told me that they do quality work and that the serviceman's time is tracked by a computer on the truck and he charged me for the time he was on the job. He said they can't keep every part they might need in the trucks, but this was a $1.50 plastic doorbell switch, not an expensive or out of the ordinary part. I never used an electrician or plumber before who did not stock basic parts on their truck and who had to run to the hardware store at my expense. I paid the invoice, but will not use them again.

Very happy with their work. They made sure the overhead lines easily clear our RVs. I think his price is very fair for the work they have done and I will continue to have them fix all the things mentioned above. They had to work around our family reunion (which they were happy to do) so we have decent power during the reunion. Will also have him set the NAT gas generator we are bringing down from my old house (it was never used except for testing so moving to Monticello where losing power is a weekly event). I cant recommend Paul and his team enough. If this is the quality of contractors from Angie's List (this was my first trial using Angie's List), I will be using Angie's list a lot more!

Storm came Friday afternoon, they had us running on generator within a few hours, they rebuild the electrical service on the back of the house damaged by the tree. They even helped me move some of the tree out of the way, getting it off the house. They took care of the city permit and inspection on Monday. We were back on normal power by 4pm on Monday. They did an awesome job.

I trust and value the knowledge of my electricians at FC Electric. When shopping for an electrician I look for three things: honesty, professionalism, and convenience. As recent home buyers, we needed to fix some electrical issues. FC Electric came out, gave us a reasonable quote, and got to work right away. They worked around us and other projects occurring within the home. They respected our deadlines and answered any questions we had while explaining every detail, overall the communication is what made it so easy. Thanks Fc Electric for all the great work provided.

FC Electric was beneficial to us and they performed well. As a new home owner, I am often skeptical about who I choose to work on my wife's and I home. They came out and gave a me a reasonable estimate to rewire our unfinished basement, for free. Paul, the owner, confirmed that the guys would come and get to work on the project within my hectic scheduling needs. Art and Jeff were the techs that worked in my home, and they were respectful, knowledgeable, and eager to explain things to me, thoroughly to ensure my understanding. Their convenience was also appreciated, because we had several other projects going on in the basement, at the same time. Thanks FC Electric for a great start to finishing our new basement.

The worst part is what they did to the old owners of our house. When we were looking at the final details of our soon-to-be house, the old owners provided us with invoices of all the recent work they had done. There was an invoice from FC Electric in 2012 for having and quot;all knob and tube wiring replaced in the attic with modern electricand quot; yet when our inspector went up in the attic IT WAS STILL THERE. They had replaced the knob and tube in places where it was easily visible but not elsewhere, as their contract stated they would do. Knob and tube in the attic was covered by spray insulation, a huge fire hazard. The old owners contacted FC and made them come back out to complete their contract from two years ago, free of charge. This made me immediately suspicious of their competence and being trustworthy in their work. My wife and I had decided we wanted to rest of the knob and tube in the house replaced as well, and would split the cost with the old owners before the sale. We had FC in to give a quote. They quoted an extremely high price saying something to the effect of and quot;it was nearly impossibleand quot; and that they would have to drill holes in the beautiful ceiling of our dining room as well as the plaster walls (difficult to repair nicely). We didn't want that to happen so we contacted another electric company. They quoted a much more reasonable price and said they could go in through the floorboards in the second floor and would not have to drill the ceiling or plaster walls. We hired them and they did a great job, with minimal cuts in our old hardwood floors, repaired nicely. Then we discovered an issue with the outlet on the back of our house, outside. It was not supplying electricity. This was an outlet that during the inspection was found to be reversed, and the owners were going to have FC fix it during the removal of the knob and tube, while they were in the house. So when we moved in, we tested the outlet and instead of being reversed, it had NO power at all. So we called FC and the owner claimed to have not been told to do anything to that outlet, that they had not touched it. We told him that it had gone from being reversed to having no power, so they must have messed with it. The company owner stated that he was not there when the work was done and could not speak to the fact that his guys had worked on it, but he would come look at it. When he came over (three days after he originally said he would come over, showing up randomly when we were not expecting him) he again claimed they were not responsible for the outlet but said they would fix it for a charge. He also wandered through the house, visibly upset that we had gone with another company to fix the knob and tube. He made accusations of poor work, slandering the other company and even claiming they had not removed the knob and tube completely. I called this other company to confirm that yes, the work had been done, and he proved that it had. FC had made false accusations. We contacted the old owners of our house about the outside outlet again. The woman who lived there stated that she had been in the back living room while one of FC's guys had been working on the outlet. YES, they had touched the outlet, and were clearly to blame for the lack of power to it. The old owners, also upset, emailed FC even though they no longer owned the house - they have been very helpful and nice. Again, they had been screwed by these guys. So I called FC again, asking them to come fix it for no charge. Again, the owner was upset, scolding me for him and quot;getting many emails and calls about this and it is turning into a big mess.and quot; Yes it is a big mess, I said, but as soon as you come and rectify the problem we will stop bugging you. He said he had my info on file and would contact me when he got back to the office later that day. He never did, and a week later still has not contacted me to fix the outlet. We will forever go through the OTHER company. FC has lost a lifetime of work from us.

The work was explained, done thoroughly and carefully and when done, what was done was explained. Very professional and clean.

Troubleshooting electrical problem. I had to call them back with an additional issue (no fault of the service technician). I got a call back from the owner of the company asking why I needed to call back and if there were any service issues. The service technician was great and immediately came back to addressing additional issue. I could tell the owner was very interested in having a satisfied company not just making a buck. Customer-oriented and very professional organization and I highly recommend them.

After a lengthy DIY Bathroom remodel, as I was hanigng the new Light, there was no power to the light switch and all atempts on my part to trace to root cause of the issue failed. I called Paul on a Thursday afternoon and he arranged for someone to contact me on Friday sice we had no light on that bathroom. I received a call Friday morning letting me know that Art and Ian would be to my house around 12:30 that day. Art called me shortly after noon to let me know that his current job was taking longer than planned and arranged to meet me at 1:30 instead. In less than an hour they had power to my switch and also rewired a three way switch in the hallway that was not functioning properly. They were very friendly and asked me what I wanted them to do each step of the way before proceeding. I was very pleased with the work, and I will definately use F C Electric in the future when I need an electrician.

The young man who came to the property did a good job of identifying the problem, solved it and left everything in good condition

They did a wonderful job and were very nice. I would definately hire them again.

They were on time, professional, expert and efficient. The price was less than they estimated when they started.

I made a mistake about what was really wrong with my home electrical problem. They were very kind as to not charge me for making a visit. Very professional, prompt and they kept good communication going with me about my issue. Please give them a try before anyone else in Lafayette!!!!!!

..Our electric company sent us a registered letter saying the meter needed to be upgrades to meet standards. I researched FC Electric because I knew this job would be a can of worms. I wanted someone who was professional, that was insured and bonded. After reading the reviews on this site, I felt assured we were getting someone honest and fair. He and his crew did an excellent job in a timely manner considering this happened through the holidays. I would recommend him to anyone.

He totally took advantage of me. A majority of the outlets are still on the knob and tube. These were supposed to be grounded. If you take the cover off, it looks done. When you take the slack out, you can tell where he did this incorrectly. He not only did it incorrectly, but he covered it up. He had free reign when this happened, because I wasn't there. I have a 40 space breaker box in the basement and 20 space breaker box upstairs. Not one of these was labeled. In a nutshell, I was lied to and no one should use this company again in the future. I was told 4 months ago they would be out in a week to come out and fix this. Every outlet and switch is not replaced, as was promised. I haven't heard back as of yet. His men were professional, on time and cleaned up after completing the work. Paul recommended a less expensive rotary phase converter than the one I was intending to purchase at considerable savings. Paul communicated well with several followup phone calls during and after the job to ensure my satisfaction. I had the shop dry walled after the wiring was done which necessitated taking down the lighting; Paul had one of his men come out and rehang the light fixtures after the drywall was complete at no charge. I highly recommend F C Electric and would use them again.
