The shelves are strong enough to sit on and I love the stain color. All the space was utilized, allowing me to stock as much as possible in my pantry.
Description of Work: Build custom made thick pantry shelves to replace the flimsy wired one.

He completed the work and did an excellent job. I would use his services again.
Description of Work: Jeff took out the wire pantry shelves and made custom wood shelving. He also replaced the wire shelf and rod in my foyer closet with a custom made wood shelf and steel rod. I also had him fix a leak in my roof around the chimney about 2 years ago. I have not had a leak since.

Ashton was great. They stuck to the estimate even though they forgot to include the cost of hauling away the broken cement and it probably all took a more hours than planned. Jeff Ashton thoughtfully considered what was needed to design and build the right steps for our house and the style of our neighborhood. I gave this work a "B" in quality because of one small thing that could have been done differently: a sliver of the bottom riser is cut to match the uneven ground instead of the ground/cement being dug out to match the bottom of the riser. It is only noticeable upon close inspection, but makes the difference between an "A" and a "B." For the porch railling, 1" is an unusual spindle width, so Jeff took older wood from his barn and cut it down to size for us. That is going the extra mile, and the old wood is much less likely to warp as it is already dried. This is a reasonable contractor who puts real thought and effort into his work. He is responsive to questions and suggestions, explaining along the way how and why he is doing what he's doing.I would definitely hire him again and recommend him to others.
Description of Work: Jeff Ashton took out our cement front steps and replaced with them with wooden steps and a wooden railing. He and his assistant jackhammered out the cement and then built the front steps with deck board. He made railings with 1" spindles to match the rest of the front porch. The cost was $1000.00 + approx. $450 in materials.

Jeff Ashton did a wonderful job of making custom built shelving for my closet and kitchen pantry. The shelves are much deeper and thicker than what was previously there. I am very happy with the extra space I now have and the sturdiness of the shelves.
Description of Work: Jeff Ashton built custom shelves for my living room closet and my kitchen pantry.
