He was taking advantage of the situation since I am an out of state investor. A tree had fallen on the house. Part of the tree needed to be cut up and taken away. He wanted $6000 to do it. He advised that it needed to be done by a crane. He wanted to charge me $180 per man per hour for 5 hours plus $350 an hour for the crane. There were four men. I had the work done for $2200 without the use of a crane. I got another $2700 with the use of a crane. A crane was not required.

I called the Tree Mann to have my tree trimmed in the beginning of June. I called them because I have used them in the past and they have always done a great job. They informed me in June that a work order will be put in, and someone will be out to complete the work. I did not hear anything else. In August, I called again and said that I called back in June and I still really need to have the tree trimmed as it is encroaching on my neighbor's property. The lady I spoke with was very nice and professional, and apologized for the delay. She informed me that they would be out that Friday to trim the tree. No one showed up, and I did not receive a phone call letting me know what the status was. It is now September and I still have not heard back. While I can say that in the past they have done a great job, it seems that getting to jobs in a timely manner is no longer a priority. Unfortunately I will have to go to someone else.

Had I gone ahead with the $65 estimate, who knows how much longer I may have had to wait for the service to be performed!? NOT the kind of response that I expected from a highly-rated Angie's List provider.

See above. Unless you live very close to Lee Mann or like to spend significant dollars to get an estimate, don't bother to call them.

Every thing was fine except he had several delays. One was wind and they did not come for several weeks to do the job

They didn't get all of it, so there was not much cleanup, but they will be coming back to complete the job.

They are quite knowledgeable. They also perform the work as if they were working on their own home.

I like how qualified he is. It is a well run enterprise and he is just really good. I have used other people, but I go back to him.

I called to ask for an estimate to remove the tree. I was told the estimate would be $25 which would be deducted from my bill should I choose them. Five days later I had to call back to follow up myself as I did not receive a response. I was then emailed an estimate to remove the tree. Tree removal $700 (medium/small tree) Stump grinding $150 Debris removal $75 Total $925 I politely declined and took my business to Edmonds Tree Service out of Portage. For $325 less, all of the above was done as well as grinding two additional stumps and removing dead trees from my tree line.

Everything went well. Brian Mann is wonderful. Very neat from start to finish. The company cleans up after themselves very well.

He came in and gave us a lot of good advice about some dead trees we were concerned about. He wasn't very aggressive. He didn't tell us to take down every single tree. He was very careful about which trees he took down and how he took them down. It was good work for the money.

I was so impressed with The Tree Mann's website and the fact that they're owned by a master arborist that I had high hopes for this contractor. Unfortunately, the rest of my experience with them was just average. No answer when I called, but they got back to me the next day. I told them an enormous 30 year old Willow tree on my property had split in half during a storm and my main goal was to save the tree. I needed an estimate. I requested the master arborist come out and look at it. No go. I would get whichever of their employees was assigned to my area that day. Ordinarily that would be fine, but I called them because they had a master arborist and I felt I needed a talented "tree surgeon" for this Willow tree to have a good shot at survival. They assured me that all their employees were talented. They sent someone out to give an estimate. They forebodingly said that even if I did not use their services there would be a $25 fee for the estimate. Well, I received estimates from 3 companies on this tree. One was $650, one was $1,000 and The Tree Mann came in the highest at $1500. That still would have been fine, but the work they proposed to do and much of the cost involved cabling the tree, which my other two contractors (and my gut) told me was completely unnecessary (not to mention unsightly). It left me with the feeling that instead of sharing my concern for saving the tree they just wanted to make a buck off me. I paid their $25 estimate fee (no one else charged me for an estimate) and chose another contractor. I am glad I did.

The order arrived on time, was deposited on my driveway, and paid for.
