Choose a professional establishment. Day 1: They broke a water line and left it spraying all over the joists and dripping from them. Crew left didn't say a word had no idea there was a problem until I turned on the kitchen sink. I had to go purchase the cap and cut the line to fix. Day 3: They broke the Refrigerators water line and it leaked out onto the floor or I would of never known. Then, I had to buy a new waterline for my fridge and replace it and of course the new line was larger. Day 5 and beyond: They came to fix stuff but never finished the job. I finished the work they left undone including buying elbows, piping and other parts and pieces. Additionally, they ran the drainage from the AC into the drain tile. Which is 50+ feet of linear tubbing away from the sump pump, so water will be sitting in the crawl space all summer. They never paid me for my labor or a single part or piece I had to purchase to fix their mistakes. The best thing was Easter when the sun came out and my family went outside and found all the cigarette butts in the grass and the mulch. Do yourself a favor and go with professional establishment I know I will.

I'm submitting this on behalf of my parents. My mom had a Nova consultant come out to their house for an estimate on their basement. Chris showed up and estimated the job to cost $8700, which would only cover the inside of the house. He required 20% down. My mom gave him a credit card, paying the $1600. Within a week, my mom decided to go with a different company. She contacted Nova and canceled the job with their office. The employee couldn't find the file and said she would contact Chris. Within a few weeks, Chris contacted my mom and played a game, acting like he hadn't heard about the canceled job. Chris and Nova are now denying any kind of refund. I would not recommend this business that practices unethically. Money was paid and services were not performed.

terrible. see earlier review regarding failure to notify me of gas line puncture and leaving me in house which rose to explosion level. New complaint deals with attempt to amend written contract and try to charge me for follow up service that should be free. When Phil, who was an owner came out to check things out and give me an estimate he explained that stabilization rods would have to be checked periodically and torqued as needed in order for warranty to remain in effect. I told him I live alone and would be unable to do this. He told me that NOVA would do this and he would not leave a torquing wrench with me. He recommended yearly checks and wrote torque as needed in the proposal, contract No. 612181P, which I accepted on 6/12/18. Late last year when a NOVA employee came out to check and found all rods needed torquing he wanted to charge me $129.00, which I refused to pay. Now NOVA says they want to change contract and after next year charge me $129.00 for a visit to check if at any and every time in the future they check and don't charge. This is in spite of the fact that one of the owners also orally told me I would have free service for life because of the gas line rupture and stress of not knowing if my house would explode after I smelled gas and went outside to find their crew who went outside without notifying me that gas was coming into the house. I also had this but stopped trying to get any other adjustment due to the stress they caused me because it would to frustrating to continue. I have rejected this contract amendment and have advised NOVA of the same. Dealing with this company has been a nightmare and caused extreme stress. Gas line should not have been punctured and informing me they are amending contract to get money out of me is what this company is about. They should not be trusted. I would not have accepted the contract without the torque as needed provision. To now want to charge me to see if this is necessary is a rip off in my opinion when one of their owners told me yearly checks should be done and that is the only way to see if torquing is needed.

Not good at all. The injections continue to release an oily liquid. And the concrete has clear oil all over it. I CANNOT paint the area because paint won't adhere to the oily surface. After 2 phone calls about the issue I was told to just finish my basement so no one would see the repairs because they don't know what the problem is. I am so upset because I had the injections done as preventive. I didn't have any leaks. Just cracks. Also, I never had any plans of finishing my basement. So now when you walk down the stairs you see a 9 foot wall with concrete repair 7 inches wide top to bottom. So now it appears that I had leaks, when I never had a problem!! Very disappointed, during the process they were nice and helpful, but once they send you the warranty in the mail, they are done with you or any problems you might have with their poor workmanship and defective materials.

[Member Name Removed]- I am sorry that you are unhappy with the injections. This issue you are having with an oily film is extremely unusual, and we've never had a customer contact us regarding anything like this. Our owner spoke to you in April regarding this and you indicated that you were going to paint over them. I am curious, have you done that?

Great. The did the work they quoted and it looks great. They don't leave those little tubes sticking out of the wall. They remove them and then seal the the crack for a finished look. It took three trips since we had several and after grinding the surface, a few were showing a little water penetration and could not be injected that first day. Their office always followed up the day after the appointment and set up my next appointment. They also worked around my schedule. I did have to cancel once and it took two weeks to reschedule because they are usually booked a week out, and then I only had certain days that I was available. They only require 10% down, so they don't ask for the rest until the job is completed. I highly recommend them if you can afford to have it done right. They do cost a little more, but I've never seen injected walls look this good when the process was done. Also, their warranty cover water penetration at all injection sites for the life of the structure, regardless of ownership...can't beat that.
Description of Work: We had multiple (7) cracks in our basement walls. We did not have any leaks, but wanted to take care of all the cracks before any of them became an issue. Some were previously injected, but were done badly and the finish look was awful. We also had one floor crack sealed.

From the day Mike arrived at my home to give an estimate to the day of completion, it was a very satisfying experience. Mike was extremely knowledgeable and did not try to sell me a service I did not need. As the owner of a 90+ year old home, I have been given many, many estimates over the years for work I was told was 'critical'. I found out later that much was not needed. What I did need was waterproofing. The initial contract was signed for the waterproofing and encapsulation of the coal room and as the project was in progress I added more services. The three-man crew arrived on Monday, October 12th and completed on Friday, October 16th. We were expecting massive dust and taped every vent, door, etc. leading to the main floor. It was not necessary, as the crew used equipment to minimize the dust. I believe the price was reasonable and am ecstatic to have a dry basement with a warranty!

I had purchased this house with a contingency that the sellers pay for this service to be done from NOVA as I have heard and read great things about them. So, it didn't technically cost me anything although it was negotiated into the price of the house so it technically did. They showed up exactly when they said they would and there was one technician who did the work. He was very nice and friendly and did a great job. He was here for about 5 hours (8-1) and there was never any nasty smell or dust so i was impressed with that even though he had to sand the cement walls to get get the supports to adhere. He cleaned up well and showed me what he did. The biggest issue I have is that they really don't complete the job. Sure the reinforcements are up and doing their job. The technician said that I needed to remove the plastic over the reinforcements in a day or two and that I needed to watch out because there might be really sharp edges and I should sand them down. He also explained that I needed to remove the excess epoxy from the reinforcements with a screw driver and they will come off 'no problem' and that when I'm ready to paint the walls I'll need to sand paper the areas he worked on but not too much. For $3k I thought they would make them 'ready to paint' and that I wouldn't have to worry about cutting myself or my animals cutting themselves on them. Finally, he had to move my stairs slightly away from the wall. They didn't get moved back and he said I could just push on them (or kick them) to move them back. Again, not what I expect to do after a contractor completes their work. Overall, the warranty, price and service was great but the follow through was a little disappointing. I'm send in my questionnaire next week and see if they respond to any of these concerns.

[Member name removed], thank you for taking the time to not only rate our company, but to share your honest feedback. We will be calling you to schedule a follow up appointment if needed, but I did want to address your concerns here as well. The technician was unable to move your carpeted stairs back due to the epoxy being wet and he didn't want it to get on your carpet. Likewise, he wasn't unable to clean up the excess because it hadn't set by the time he was done with the install. For customers like yourself who want to paint their Fortress all they usually have to do is pull the plastic off like a band-aid and rough the surface so the paint will adhere. I apologize if you feel that we left the job unfinished, but I assure you will we return and take care of the issues that you are concerned with.

They knew what they were doing and they did a good job but it was very messy. There was a lot of dust all over the house. They are a very well known company. A lot of people get them. They are very professional and great workers. We have no water in our basement. I knew there was going to be dust because they had to use a jack hammer to break up the cement in the basement to get to where they needed to put in the drainage tiles but I had no idea there would be dust everywhere. I'm still cleaning the dust up. They were here right when they were supposed to be.

In a word - excellent! But you want all the details - so here it goes. I chose Nova based on the recommendation of a friend and also their excellent record here on Angie's list which is far better than any other companies in this area doing this work. For the initial appointment I was running late. Very unusual for me and I was very embarrassed by it - but their rep (one of the owners, I believe) took it right in stride and graciously waited for me to arrive. He made his inspection and made recommendations based on only what I wanted - to secure the integrity of the foundation. I wasn't interested in trying to turn it into a living area and he didn't push unnecessary repairs. In fact, he recommended I get new gutters and downspouts first. I was impressed with this honesty as Nova doesn't do this work and did not gain anything from it. He then explained both verbally and in writing exactly what was needed to secure the foundation and gave me a quote for the work. I asked him for a recommendation for the gutters and got it. I followed through with the gutters first and was very pleased with the work of the company they recommended. Then I called them to arrange a date for them to start their work. They arranged for a plumber to move some of the water lines that would be in the way. I hadn't remembered them mentioning this to me...but it was included in the estimate they gave me so it was fine. Throughout this process, the rep, work crew, gutter company, and plumber all had to arrange appointments with one of my tenants for access to the basement. This tenant has often warned me about sub-par contractors in the past...but they were fine with all of the work done and absolutely LOVED the Nova crew. Work started on the appointed date and finished when expected. Due to my work schedule, I was never there during the work and never met the crew, but I am extremely satisfied with the work they did. The foundation is now better than it was the day the house was built, my tenants remained happy throughout, and I found Nova to be extremely easy and friendly - yet professional to deal with in every phase from my initial call to arrange an inspection to my final call to pay the bill.
Description of Work: Nova Basement Systems reinforced a wall in an old house I own as a rental property. It has an old "Michigan style" basement which had shown signs of deterioration along one wall and I was concerned about the integrity of the foundation. They built a wood frame with heavy posts sunk 1-2 ft deep into the floor and pored a thick, solid concrete wall - 25 feet of "Perma-Wall" in two sections.

A crew of three showed up on scheduled day earlier than the office anticipated. They worked diligently until they not only did just was quoted, but, as they found issues as they got into job they proactively addressed the issues to make sure the job was done right. They worked until the job was done with little, if any, breaks. They were very good at describing what they were doing and were very easy to work with and answered all of our questions.

The estimator was very professional and explained exactly what was required and how much it would cost. He was here on time and actually inspected the rest of the exterior walls. He explained the 2 step process of the repair. The person who performed the repair was very professional in his work. He did the work with no left over mess. He cleaned up all the material and you could tell he was even here. The person that finished the work actually got her early and called me on my cell phone to make sure it was ok to ring the door bell in case someone was sleeping. The office staff were very friendly and they kept me informed of any changes in the schedule well in advance. I would definitely use these guys again if needed

The project had it's hiccups, mostly because of things encountered while the crew were trying to do their job. Our house used to be a summer cottage, so the original builders/owners didn't exactly take the proper steps on doing nearly everything. The crew had to regroup a few times to figure out the best solution possible for what they had encountered. I feel they were able to overcome the hiccups. I really don't have any complaints on their work.

I think it was nearly ideal. They came in & did all the work in 2 days. Their work is impeccable.I would recommend them to any & all. That being said....most of the clean up of buckets etc.was done on my driveway where it is easily washed away & was cleaned up by the workers. A few of the buckets were washed out on my lawn...which is not acceptable. They offered to fix it but that was not my point. A lawn is a never ending project under oak trees & I will need to await until spring to replant.
Description of Work: Installed a water proofing system to my basement. Chopped up the perimeter & installed tile plus a triple backed up sump system. The concrete work is very good & looks great I waited a month before proceeding to use the room & so far, so good. Success!

We has several small puddles in the basement. We called Nova and they made an appointment to come out and look at the problem. Upon checking out the basement there were 3 cracks that appeared to be leaking water and a pipe that needed to be sealed. He also suggested that we have a gardener come by and adjust the height of the planting beds around the house. Nova came out at the appointment time, explained the procedure, fixed the cracks, and then explained the next step. The next step was to come out and removed the small tubes inserted into the cracks to apply the epoxy. I appreciated their responsiveness and the fact that they didn't try to sell me something that wasn't necessary. Their representative who came out to look at the job seems very knowledgeable.

Upon calling for an appointment, the Nova rep scheduled an appointment just a few days out to look things over. He did a great job looking for the reason(s) for water getting into our basement. After about an hour of looking at things both inside the basement (walls) and outside, he discovered where the problem was. This "find" prevented us from having a very expensive wall drain system installed in the basement. The company requires a 10% down payment to secure the contract and the rep scheduled the repair date before he left. Their crew showed up on schedule as planned. They looked over their plans and looked at the physical conditions, and went over with me exactly what they were going to do. They proceeded to do the seal work and the trench drain. Job was completed within 1 ½ hours. They took pictures of their completed work (as the owner of the company looks at both "before and after" pictures before cutting a final invoice. Great job. And with all of the recent heavy rains, no water in the basement!!
Description of Work: They sealed around the main waste drain going through the basement wall (which was allowing rain water to penetrate into the basement), and, they installed a 15 foot trench drain with an overflow basin attached to the sump pump discharge on the exterior of the house.
