It didn't at all since they never showed for the scheduled appointment.
Description of Work: Scheduled an appointment for an estimate for an exterior paint job of entire house and detached garage. Stayed home to wait for them to arrive for the estimate...they were a no so. In addition, they did not call to tell me they would not be arriving or needed to change the day/time of estimate. Needless to say, I will not use this company for any services if you can't depend on them to even show for a scheduled appointment!

I purchased a deal from another website for the company to paint two rooms. It took me three times to get a hold of the person to schedule the painting. I left a message that I would like to schedule a time for her company to come and paint. When she called me back and said she did not have her appointment calender with her and would have to call me back. When she never called back I called her again and we set up a time for them to come to my house. At that time I told her what they were going to paint. She called me a day before the service and again asked what they were going to paint (third time it was asked) and said they would be there between 9 and 11. I asked her to call me when she had a more definite time and she said "Why?" When I explained to her that someone else was going to be home and I wanted to make sure they would know when to expect her company she just signed and said "Fine." When they came to our home the first thing they did was measure the room. Though one room was slightly bigger than what was on the coupon the other room was much smaller. They said they would not paint the room without charging extra. Not wanting our daughter to be disappointed that her room was not painted due to our mistake in confirming the room size we agreed to pay more - which was fine - I totally understood that it did not conform to what we bought - but they were just rude about it. That all being said the painting was fast and looks very good. But I would definitely not use them again.

I purchased a discount voucher for Shipp's Painting priced 89$ for 2 coats of paint in one 12x14 Room. I called Shipp's Painting in early June to schedule the painting in early July, so that I may have a finished room in our new home prior to furniture delivery. The earliest Shipp's could arrive for the job was the end of July - 3 weeks after our move. I spoke with the co-owner, Misty Shipp, who informed me that I would need to purchase 2 gallons of paint, which had been indicated on the voucher. The week of the appointment, I had not received any confirmation from Shipp's, so I called to confirm the order 2 days ahead because I would be out of our home the day of the scheduled appointment (I had arranged for my sister to house-sit). I wanted to make sure there would be no suprises for my sister, only that she could oversee the project and assist with minimal inquiries. At that time, Misty asked what color the room was, and I informed her it was a pale yellow, and I had purchased 2 gallons of taupe paint as recommended. She then informed me that the room would also require an extra gallon of primer. She offered to purchase the primer and add the labor for $60 additional, and I agreed to leave her a check for that amount, in addition to the voucher. I also mentioned that I might be interested in trim-work at an extra cost. The connection to their office phone was poor (which sounded like a cell phone), but I told her to please call me if she have any questions or concerns when she arrived to my home. The day Misty and her partner arrived to my home, my sister contacted me to let me know the painters were unhappy. When she had shown them to the room, the male painter snidely remarked, "who's going to move all this furniture?" (There was a futon, empty bookcase, rocking chair, and desk in the room). I called home and asked to speak with the painters directly, when they voiced their frustration that 1. The furniture was not moved 2. They were not prepared to paint the trim and 3. They were not prepared to paint the small entry-way (consisting of 3 doorways into the room, closet and bathroom) attached to the room. While I understood their concern that the additional services may not be covered by the voucher, I could not understand why these issues were not previously addressed via phone or in-house estimate. Moreover, I did not understand why they were so angry about the miscommunication; I informed them that I would be willing to negotiate a new price based on their estimate on additional charges. They eventually gave me a new estimate: FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS (in addition to $200 for voucher, paint, and primer) for trimwork and 3x3x3 entryway into the room. This was outrageous as I had just had another painter complete an identical job for $250 total. The rest of the communication with both Misty and her partner was bizzare and completely unprofessional. When we had come to a conclusion on what services I was willing to pay for, I thanked Misty and reminded her to please direct all future inquiries and concerns toward me, as it didn't see it appropriate (or professional) for them to address any frustrations they may have toward my sister. Misty was offended by this, and became very defensive. She suggested that I might find another painting service to do the job. She then handed the phone to her partner, who tried to explain that they did not intend to direct their frustrations toward us but rather they were based on a general miscommuncation with the advertising company that sold me the voucher. I asked if he was implying that I had purchased a voucher under false advertising and he said yes. He then said he could tell that I was dissatisfied with my experience so far, and (instead of trying to improve his customer service) suggested that I try to get a refund from the advertising company, because he didn't want me to give Shipp's painting a bad review. I expained that walking away from the job was almost more disadvantageous and unsatisfactory to me, because I had wasted 3 weeks post-move for their non-appointment, and now he will cost me more time to hire a new painter. At that point I requested they leave my paint and excuse themselves from my home. In the meantime, I have gotten a full refund for my voucher from the advertising agency, and an estimate for the room by another painter- $250 for 2 coats paint and trimwork. Primer was not recommended. I intend for this report to help other consumers get a fair and accurate estimate for painting services and to help Shipp's painting improve their customer service; for a working mother of 2, walking away from the job is the last thing a company could do to salvage a good review. Communication and punctuality of Shipp's painting was poor, and regardless of their painting quality (whatever that may be), I am happy to send my business elsewhere.
Description of Work: I hired Shipp's painting to paint a 12x14 Room; the customer service was so poor when they arrived for the appointment that I sent them out of my home without receiving any service.
