Brandi with Adam's was very good to work with. He was responsive to phone calls and text messages, showed up when he said he would and kept me updated. There were no surprises through the process other than some banking speed bumping on my side, but Adam's was very patient and helpful. All of the employees from Adam's were very nice and professional. They respected our home and space. They cleaned up each day when they were finished. They went out of their way to make sure we were happy with the layout, doors and trim. We did use our own plumber and flooring person; purchasing the flooring and bathroom items on our own. We are VERY happy with the finished product and will be using Adam's Construction again. I have already recommended Adam's to friends and family.
Description of Work: We had a unfinished basement that we wanted finished. The job included framing, wiring/electrical, drywall, ceramic tiling, painting and finish work. We used our own plumber and purchased all bathroom items on our own. We also found our own flooring company using Angie's List.

April 3, 2017 Dear Angie, Over all my experience with Adams Construction was good. However one of the sub-contractors leaves a lot to be desired. Here what happened? On May 25, 2016, I entered into contract with Adams Construction remodel or bath and kitchen with 1st installment payment. On September 6, 2016, demolition for a remodel of both baths including resurface of rusting tub and kitchen remodel got started. Adams sub contracted out tub resurfacing which was done by a sub contracted company called Miracle Methods Surface Refinishing. Before video [*** Link removed ***] All work was completed and by mid November 2016 and final payment made on December 1 to Adams for total of $24,363.75 Fast forward to Mid-January 2017, I directly contacted Miracle Method and John Moses, the owner came out to the house to look at the rust that had return to the tub right around the drain. He told my husband that at an additional cost he could fix it and that it must be something we did in the cleaning or that not enough hardware was remove from the tub prior to re surfacing. On January 24th I text the Project Manager, Brandy Monk for Adams Construction who subbed the job out to say that there was an issue with rust returning around the drain of the newly resurfaced tub. On January 31 , I text Brandy back to see what the status was with the rust stain and he said he waiting to get a call back from John and asked me to send a picture of rusting tub to him. I did that. On February 22, I text Brandy again about the status and let him know that I used the suggested cleaning product as instructed t by Miracle Method Tech material left after the job. On February 23 he said he would call again, on March 2 he asked me to send picture again and I did so. On March 16 he sent me a text that stated “John will be calling u about to take care of issue. As of today April 3 I have not been contacted by John and the rust is getting worse. Can you help me obtain the resurface from Miracle Method to fix what they were original contracted to do and have already been paid for. The rust has spread over the months it has taken to get this resolved. Adams Construction Services is simply a wonderful company all the way around! I don't know if there are any other companies as good as this one out there, but I do know that you will not find one that is BETTER! I will recommend them to everyone! Their work is impeccable, they do NOT take shortcuts. They are HONEST, and thorough. If they find a problem along the way, they don't just ignore it, nor do they take it upon themselves to do what they want without asking you first. They consult with you about EVERYTHING before doing ANYTHING. Their staff/construction crew is hard-working, polite, friendly, helpful, and considerate. They work as much as they can around your schedule, and clean up every day after they leave. They answer any and all questions with patience and a positive, helpful attitude. We had a bathroom with a rotting floor, causing a hole through which we could see our crawl space below. So it needed to be completely redone, from floor beams to ceiling. We also needed a wall taken down in the kitchen to make it into a larger room. In both rooms, along with new flooring and new walls, we had completely new fixtures installed: shower, sinks, cabinetry, faucets, ceiling lights, fans, dimmer switches, etc. Through the entire time it took to complete the project, the owner, Thad Adams, checked in at least once or twice a week to address any questions or concerns, and to make sure we were happy with the progress. He also left us his number to contact him at any time, should we need him. As far as the cost is concerned, considering the company's work ethics, expertise, accessibility and the fact that they do such a thorough and fantastic job, their prices are MORE than reasonable. They excel at "good customer service". Now we not only have two beautiful rooms, but peace of mind as well. We could not be happier with our new kitchen and bathroom. They turned out even BETTER than what we could have imagined. They are absolutely beautiful! Nothing feels better than when you have found a company you can trust 100%. I guarantee, that Adams Construction Services, Inc. is THAT company!

For a couple that doesn't know that much about construction, Adams and all his workers were a sight for our sore eyes.Brandy Monks, the Project Consultant and David helped guide us with ideas and explained step by step all the work that they were doing. All the people doing the job were professional and very kind(became almost family!). Brandy said the project would take approximately a month and it did. They did a good job cleaning up the work areas everyday. My wife and I are very proud of the results that Adams Construction has done to our house. We're a Shiner of the block! Thank you Brandy,David,Patrick,Johnny,Bob,Marty, and there were two other guys I forgot their names.

We are extremely pleased with the completed project. While there were some problems during the construction process, Adams Construction took care of every concern and problem that occurred. Brandy Monks was the Project Consultant for Adams Construction and he met with us in a timely manner each time there was a problem. I highly recommend this Contractor for your addition, remodel or construction project.

He was very easy to work with, but also very busy. My perception (right or wrong) was that he was really too busy to keep up with his current work load. He did deliver what I paid for - which was a design. And it was good. I was hoping for a price, proposal, project plan, etc. But we didn't get that far. The experience did indeed help me think about how I wanted to move forward.

This member was easy to work with. We wish him luck on his project. The member and I must have had some miscommunication as I understood he would get back to me to inform me of any desired changes/revisions after the second meeting during which I presented the design. There is truth in the work load issue as our company was placed back in rotation for the Angie's List Big Deal program after we had stated not to do so without checking with us. I believe this was an honest oversight on the part of Angie's List which they moved relatively quickly to correct (took four days as this happened over the Independence Day holiday). In that four days we received information on eight deals at a time when we already had a backlog of design and estimating work.

WoW! I am so glad I finally decided to do this project and chose Adams Construction to do the work. This was a large project but made my home so much more functional for my family and entertaining in the new, larger space. I met Thad Adams and Brandy at a home remodeling show. We obtained several estimates for the job and this company provided professional, sound advice and a very competitive estimate. I was very nervous about removing a load-bearing wall in my home. Every contractor gave us different opinions about how it should be done and VERY different estimates for that level of work. I chose Adams because of my level of trust with their suggestions, their very reasonable estimate and their responsiveness regarding all my concerns about the project. I cannot say enough about their high level of service, honesty, professionalism and results. Every person we dealt with, from the project manager Brandy, the people doing the actual work, and the owner Thad himself, was responsive, friendly and respectful of our time and our wishes. The project ran over the estimated time by only 1 week, which was much better than I had anticipated. There were no major "kinks" but the couple of things I wanted changed were dealt with quickly and to my satisfaction. I requested a few project additions during the work and was quoted and charged a very fair price. Brandy kept me informed daily of the work schedule, and the gentlemen doing the majority of work in my home (Jeff and Marty) did a wonderful job, were efficient and cleaned up nicely each day. I would recommend this company for any type of remodeling project and will use them again in the future as soon as my husband lets me remodel something else :) Thanks guys for making my home so much more enjoyable for our families! Your work was greatly appreciated.

The work went very smoothly. Adams stands by their work and everyone that came to the house were very professional, they all went out of their way to satisfy our requests. They also were able to work within a very small time period. They met the deadline, and I didn't think there was anyway that they could do it. We were blown away with the quality of the work and the transformation to the room. Top notch all the way around. Thad is very easy to work with and has great ideas. Communication with Adams is also A+.

We have used Adam's twice. The first time we contacted Adams was for a siding estimate to repair hail damage from an April 2012 storm. We met with Thad, the owner, and immediately felt comfortable. He was honest and concerned about our property, which was particularly comforting to us considering we had lived in the home one month. Adams was the third estimate we received (a little over $12,000) and while the most expensive, the quality products Adam's uses was worth the price. For example, we received one estimate for nearly $11,000 for .036 siding. I wanted at least .042, which wasn't even offered by the company. When I met with Thad, he indicated that he only used .046. For $1000 more? Sold. Adams Construction was also VERY helpful working with the insurance company. The work was complete in a little under a week. The siding is beautiful and greatly enhanced the curb appeal of our home. We contacted Adams again for our roof (March 2014). Again, Thad came to the house to show us samples and offer suggestions for shingles that would best match our siding. For around $6700, we have a beautiful roof, new j-channels, drip strip, etc. The gentlemen working on the roof were kind and polite. With dogs, we were concerned about having roofing nails in the yard. The roofers took to utmost care in cleaning around the house to ensure there were no nails. What's more? The roofers left the yard, driveway, and sidewalks far cleaner than they were the day they started. Thanks to Thad and Adams Construction, we have added value to our house and have the peace of mind that the work was completed thoroughly. We will contact Adams any time we have a major project on the home.

We have been in contact with Adams Construction (primarily Brandy for months) trying to get an estimate for our basement and master bathroom and have had an extremely difficult time in getting it. Member contacted our company on 8/23/13 expressing an interest in having the basement finished in a home they were in the process of purchasing. A visit was conducted during the week of 8/26/13 by our salesperson and a proposal was for the work was sent on 9/6/13. The member called the salesperson on 9/22/13 indicating that they were ready to move on with the next step in the process and were hoping to start the project in the middle of October. The sales person indicated that a site visit would need to be scheduled with the company owner (for design), plumbing contractor and electrical contractor to finalize the proposal for the project. This meeting was set up for 9/25/13 at 9am. At 6:54pm on 9/24/13 the salesperson received a text message from the member indicating that they could not keep the 9/25/13 appointment and would need to call back to reschedule. The member called back on 10/3/13 indicating that they would like to set up the meeting for the next day on 10/4/13. The salesperson indicated during the phone call that scheduling for the next day would be impossible due to full schedules and recommended the meeting be scheduled for the next week. The member indicated that they would contact after looking at their schedule for the next week. Member sent the salesperson a text message on 10/7/13 asking if the project could still start in October. Salesperson responded yes, possibly the latter part of October but the meeting for design, plumbing and electrical contractors still needed to be done. No other calls were received from the member by the salesperson after October 7. The salesperson did attempt to follow up via telephone on two occasions after October 7 with no response. Member sent a text to the salesperson on 11/4/13 indicating that they had moved forward with another provider. Thad Adams CGR, CGP, CAPS President, Adams Construction Services, Inc.

We have reviewed our voice mail records and inquiry information and were unable to find any record of a call from this member. We do have a policy and system in place for collecting inquiry information from the voice mail (this is done each morning five days per week Monday through Friday on a daily basis except holidays). It is likely that the message from this member could not be retrieved due to no fault of the member or Adams Construction staff as the phone/internet provider was performing a transition from one company to another during the time frame of the June 11, 2013 call attempt. As many in the Louisville/Southern Indiana market are aware, Insight Communications (Insight) was recently acquired by Time Warner Cable, Inc. (TWC). There was written correspondence regarding the ownership transition as well as the physical transition of services and systems over the past 60 days from Insight/TWC to Adams Construction staff. All instructions were followed by Adams Construction staff to ensure the best chance of a smooth transition between the two service providers. In spite of the preparations of both Adams Construction and Insight/TWC, problems were experienced that include lack of telephone service on one or more lines, no voice mail available to callers, inability of Adams Construction staff to retrieve voice mail information due to Insight/TWC technical issues, internet/email outages, issues between the phone system/alarm service provider and the inability to send/receive facsimile transmissions. These problems did not just affect Adams Construction but many other businesses and individuals across the market. The physical transition of services began on Sunday June 9, 2013 and were not completely resolved until Friday June 14, 2013 after many lengthy phone conversations with TWC staff and a visit by a TWC technician to our site on Wednesday June 12, 2013. It is unfortunate that we were unable to connect with this member for his or her deck project. Thad Adams CGR, CGP, CAPS President Adams Construction Services, Inc.

You hear horror stories about problems people have with contractors. Having a tree fall on your house is bad enough without all of the hassle of getting quotes and dealing with insurance companies and then having to worry about having workmen tramping around your house and having to watch that the work is done right. From the first day of construction we felt that things were going to be OK. The people from Adams Construction were prompt, courteous and caring. My wife and I felt that they wanted us to know that they would do the job right and the way we wanted it done. Like I said , they kept the construction site clean and respected that this was our home and we love it. So thanks Thad and Tony and Marty and Shane and everybody. You have made a frightful situation turn out all right. P.S. I'm getting another estimate on a little more remodeling from Adams now. I will be recommending them to any and all who ask. Joe and Gwen Mathers
Description of Work: Thad Adams came to our house after a large maple tree fell and demolished our front porch and knocked holes in our living room and bedroom walls. He was the first to respond to our pleas for help and came through with the best bid. Our house was built in 1907 and took a big licking from a tree that was three feet in diameter at the base. Thad's crew rebuilt our porch, straightened walls and completely resided the front of the house. They stripped and re-roofed the house and put up new gutters. The amazing thing was that the crew cleaned up everything EVERY DAY. At the end of the day you would not know anyone had been there if you didn't see how much better the house looked every day. As I said, our house is old. One whole wall in the upstairs bedroom had to be stripped to the lath and completely redone. Three rooms had the ceilings replaced. When you see the old stuff come down and drywall go up and the first coats of drywall compound go on it looks pretty rough and my wife and I were scared (yeah, that's the right word) that it wasn't going to turn out right. Thad and Tony assured us that everything would be done to our satisfaction. They were right! Any questions we had were answered and any concerns were addressed promptly and to our full satisfaction. We have owned our house for twelve years and the old girl has never looked better.

Our original plans/timing in June didn't work out for us but we started planning again in January and on February 6, 2013 we called them again. On February 6th we were told we would be contacted but it could take up to 24 hours. As of February 12, 2013 we have not received a call back. They must not need any more business.

Response from Adams Construction Services Inc
We apologize for the inconvenience to this Angie’s List member. Even with the best of systems in place things can be missed. We do have a system to retrieve, track and follow up with calls to our showroom; the office is staffed Monday through Friday and we do have a full time Project Consultant who handles sales. We wish the customer the best of luck with his project. Thad Adams CGR, CGP, CAPS President Adams Construction Services, Inc.

My experience with Adams Construction was often challenging but when it was all completed, the product delivered , a new bathroom in my basement, was very nice. The first couple of days, we had workers coming in and out but never new if, or when, they would be here. I made them aware and from then on Tony, their project manager, called every morning to update me on where we were and who would be here that day. problem solved. There were a few glitches with communication between Adams and the flooring Company which caused a 2 week delay in order to correct the problem. However, as soon as it was brought to Tony's attention, the motion began to correct the problem which amounted to removing the already laid tile and putting it back down correctly. Delay in completion, but problem solved. Requested final payment before project was completed. I was not happy about that at all and never do business that way but I paid it. I later was told that the request was made in error and I was assured that prepayment would have no impact on the completion date or the quality of the final product. This was completely true. After completion, I had some issues which needed attention and they sent someone immediately. Marty did a walk through with me and he determined that there were some details that needed attention. He spent all day touching up . Problem solved. In summary: Do: 1. be very specific about the details of your project. ex. number of lights, number of receptacles, placement etc. 2. be there and be sure that what the team is doing that day fits your vision for the final outcome 3. communicate often about details and /or design vision Don't: 1. Assume that everybody is on the same page. You are the one who will live with the outcome so if you have a question about something out of your area of expertise, ask. These guys are skilled at creating the bones but seem to lack imagination for design and "touches" that are outside of the box. All in all, I would do business with Adams again. I would take my own advice and hopefully prevent the kinds of frustrations experienced at times during this project. The management team could not have been any nicer or made any more effort to quickly address and resolve any issues as they arose. I have remodeled many areas of my house and it is never a walk in the park. This experience was no exception but if you want to be confident that your project will be done well, then Adams will deliver. I gave a B rating because for an A rating I would expect fewer issues. But for effort, caring about their customer, and wanting to do the right thing, I would give them an A.

Response from Adams Construction Services Inc
We are happy for the final outcome with the customer’s basement bathroom. As the customer indicated remodeling always presents some challenges as each owner and home is different. We do have a process and project management software that we use to assist in giving our homeowners the best possible remodeling experience. As with all processes, there is always room for improvement and education of our team and we pursue this at every opportunity. We had a good experience in working with the Martins and appreciate their patience as a flooring issue did create a delay for the completion of the project. We often discuss with owners how the relatively short amount of time invested in a remodeling project (even with some delays) pales in comparison to a quality final product that can provide years and sometimes decades of future use and enjoyment. We wish the Martins the best of luck and enjoyment with the use of the additional bathroom. Thad Adams CGR, CGP, CAPS President Adams Construction Services, Inc.

The owner came and quoted the job and delivered the estimate 2 weeks later. Though we had 3 companies give us quotes Adams was the most thorough. Though they were the highest priced, the price was still what I was expecting to pay. They began the job 3 weeks after we deposited the first half of the total. It took 3.5 days across a weekend to complete the deck, and walk-through was completed a week later. Though the workmen looked rough they were very polite and professional to us and our neighbors. They even cleaned the site every evening so our dogs could go out an check on progress. ;) Another 4 hours completed details corrected during the walk through, and we couldn't be happier. We absolutely love our new deck.
Description of Work: We had an approximately 35' x 12' with a single staircase installed. We had torn out the old deck ourselves, so the work was digging and setting new posts, joists, flooring, finishing, and railing. We went with the slightly more pricey black coated aluminum balusters and are very happy with the deck, workmanship, materials, and final design.

Thad, the owner, and his staff were very professional and paid attention to details from start to finish. The project included planning and design drawings, removing the old deck and concrete, installing a drainage system, a paver patio and a Trex Deck with lighting. Their coordination with subcontractors was good. From my first meeting with Thad I was impressed and would not hesitate to recommend them if you want quality work done. I firmly believe you get what you pay for in workmanship and materials.
