They called shortly after the request went in. The estimator showed up on time and gave me the estimate while he was here. They called and said they finished a job early so the whole thing was done in less than seven (7) days. I couldn't be more pleased.

I had a good experience with A1. They came out to my house for the estimate within a few days of my request. Within three weeks they called and scheduled the work the next day. The crew showed up on time and got right to work. Within 4 hours the job was complete and I was very impressed, it was better than I expected. The side walk looks great, I could hardly tell that the work had been done and the crew cleaned up everything. I had one issue with the invoice, but it was cleared up in a few hours. I would recommend A1 and would use them again.

They were supposed to be here that morning but did not arrive until 7:30 in the evening. It was supposed to be two people but one went home before the other person arrived here. He finished at 9 pm so he said. I called the next day and another guy came out and caulked one place. So he left. I'll never use them again or recommend them. The guy that gave me the estimate said it would probably two weeks before they could get to me and I told him that I was not in any hurry, I just wanted the job done right. It was 3 or 4 days later that they scheduled the work to be done.

I was very impressed with all aspects of this service. A1 provided me a quote that was less than half of all other competitors, some of whom were not even willing to take the job. They assured me it that their repairs would not damage a retaining wall that the sidewalk was next to. They set a time and date and showed up precisely when they said they would and were completely finished 3 hours later, IN THE RAIN! I have an exposed aggregate sidewalk that had several sections that were out of level 3" or more, plus a set of concrete steps that had sunk a few inches as well. By the time A1 was finished, not only was everything completely level, but they had covered the holes they had drilled in the sidewalk and steps so thoroughly that even I couldn't tell where they were. It was literally like new when they were done. In summary, I could not have expected anything more from a company. Very professional, relatively inexpensive compared to other options, courteous, punctual and a high quality work in every way. I completely recommend A1 to anyone for sidewalk leveling and would definitely use them again.

the home is built on a gentle grade. the grade at the front of the home, where the sidewalk is located, 'drops off' quickly ( estimate is 40%). the sidewalk had settled in several locations. the contractor drilled holes and then hydraulically forced a slurry of lime and sand into the holes and raised the settled sections of cement. we had to have the contractor return a second time to raise some of the sections, due to settling. we had been advised by the contractor to stabilize some of the sections with earth or cement because of potential water intrusion and subsequent settling. These repairs were made following the first and second repairs. We have had some additional settling (1 inch) of the sections. Important: the slurry does not harden like a cementitious (cement) product. the slurry does possess good to excellent compression strength but only in the presence of dry or well drained soil. the slurry does not provide good shear strength unless the repair area is very stable. the customer must know these important factors before starting the repair. if you do not start with a stable, well drained base, you will not get the desired results. the company was professional, prompt and courteous. the overall rating is for the limited capability of the slurry used for the repairs.

They were so great! Called me back right away, answered my questions. Then when he came out to look at the sidewalk was very honest about what was going on and he didn't think they could help us. Tree roots and it was one of those things where there isn't anything they could do. Also checked other concrete even though I didn't ask them too and left me instructions on what to do with those. I wasn't home and he left a detailed written report estimate on the door for me. Also his number if I had any questions. Really great service, and I have recommended them just based on their honesty.

Job first done on 3/13/12. Concrete was brought up about 4and quot; to level with original position. Workers were a little sloppy and messy, but it is a very messy job. They did an outstanding job of matching the hole plugs to the walkway concrete. You could not tell where the repair was done. Nine months later (today) they returned becuase the step had sunk about 1/2and quot;. This was covered by the three year warranty. Job was done well and hopefully won't sink any further. Overall, very happy with the work and the way in which they stood behind it.

I had a pretty large piece of concrete in the corner of a garage slab that had settled about 3-4". It was so bad that there was a big gap between the slab and the casing around the garage door and a gap between the bottom of the garage door. I called them up and set an appointment to provide an estimate. The price was right so they were able to get to it the next day before some cold weather came in. They were able to lift the corner up to where it was originally before it settled. It looked great and there was no gaps below the casing or garage door. I thought $400 was a pretty good price and probably their minimum for any job. The other bid I got was for $500 which was their minimum. The estimator was very professional and they cleaned up after the job. The only indication was some small holes that were patched.

Date of service I was informed by Dave Taflinge crew that no prep work was needed I found this hard to believe. His men told me the gaps and cracks didn’t need to be cleaned out. They caulked over debris, dirt pine needles etc. Went back and forth on the phone with Dave Taflinge, he did meet with my husband once and saw the work. My husband (who is 77) was so upset with the job he accepted a case of caulk to fix the shabby job we got so he could correct as many of the problems himself. On our front patio the caulking did not even cover the gaps. Some areas that were raised and gaps remained the same and even looked worse after the caulking. And the leveling didn’t come close to closing up the gaps like the brochure shows. I sent Dave Taflinge a letter with pictures detailing the issues I never received a response.Bottom line – We got a sloppy job it is a shame that they did not take more pride in their work. The pictures that are in the brochure – seem to be false adverting. We cannot recommend this company to anyone! Copy of letter sent: To: October 12, 2011 Dave Taflinge A-1 Concrete PO Box 298 Jeffersonville, IN 47131 I have decided to send you this letter in writing to explain my frustration with the job that was done at our home on River Road. I should have have ask for the quote in writing instead of getting it in the form of a voice mail. That should have been my first red flag. We had a major communication problem on what we talked about what was delivered. As a small business owner myself I appreciate feedback on my work. I felt it was necessary to let you know what we think of the work we received. I wish I could have been here the day you came by but I was dealing with a family emergency. I told him you were willing to come back over and look at the job with both of us. He does not want your crew back over here because of the shoddy workmanship that was done. His attitude is you saw the work and found it acceptable. He worked out the deal on the caulk, Because of the agreement he made with you and receiving the case of caulk, I will need to respect it and drop the issues I have. But I feel it is important to let you know what they are. Line items: 1. Raise front sidewalk at bottom of ramp caulk break. and middot; This was not done 2 .Raise driveway to even up in back on right and middot; They did raise the first section but not the second attracting section that was unlevel and need to be raised. I assumed that that whole area would be leveled out, and way was the caulking not included in the $800.00 when you included it in the other line items? I did not catch this on the voice mail and middot; This is where a hard copy of the quote would have been helpful. 3 .Raise front patio, caulk breaks and along wall and middot; It was my understanding that when the front patio was raised it would look like the picture in the brochure (without the large gap between the steps. It looks worse than it did before. The gap is the same and the worse part it we had tried to fix it with some quickcrete a long time ago and your men did not clean that out (it was cracked and broken) then proceeded to caulk on top of it not even and middot; As you can clearly see in the pictures what a bad job it is. and middot; We had talked about caulking the wall with the large gap between the bricks this was not done not sure if that was included in the quote and along wall was very vague and middot; 4. Raise back sidewalk to brick wall and caulk break and middot; The side walk still has the same gap they raised it a little but it still has a 2 1/2 “ gap not like picture in the brochure. You men fill gap with caulk but left the debris in the gap They said it was not necessary to clean the gaps and cracks 5. Raise side walk to docks. Fill gap with concrete and middot; This looks great now. Your men did not want to clean out the large crack (we had fixed it with some quickcrete a long time ago it was cracked and broken). So I chiseled the old debris before they lifted and patched the area. I find it hard to believe that no prep work was needed, your men told me the gaps and cracks didn’t need to be cleaned out. They caulked over debris, dirt pine needles etc. As you can tell from the pictures what a bad job we got. Especially on our front patio were the caulking is not even covering the gaps. My driveway and sidewalk were out of alignment in various places from as little 1/2 inch to nearly two inches. The A1 rep who came to give me an estimate explained that they would drill holes to "inject" the concrete which would, in turn, raise the lowered portion to evenly match the rest of the slabs. I noticed an immediate difference the day I drove into my driveway and actually had to get used to walking normally on my sidewalk again, things had been so bad. I was just as happy with the patch job they did on my garage foundation which actually had chunks of concrete missing from the corners. The crew did overlook caulking the breaks where my step meets the porch but one call to A1 resulted in them coming back out within the next two days to take care of the problem. The overall price was $300 less than someone who wanted to tear out the entire slab and I was especially impressed with the A1 rep's recommendation that I completely tear out a back porch rather than going with a patch job which he said would not hold up over time.
Description of Work: They raised one large slab of my driveway and three adjacent narrow slabs by as much as 2 inches and raised two slabs in the sidewalk and caulked two breaks where one step meets the porch. They also patched four corner foundations on my garage.

A1 completed our entire project in one afternoon while I was at work. Other than the fact that our porch and driveway were level, I couldn't tell they had even been there. I was extremely satisfied. Their charge was exactly what their estimate said it would be.
Description of Work: Our 16 x 80 ft. front porch and portions of our driveway had settled unevenly by as much as 5 inches. This created large cracks and was very unattractive. Our builder insisted that there was no way to make the repair without jack hammering out all the concrete and repouring. The estimate was over $4,500. I read up on mudjacking and called A1. Their solution to our problem was right on target. They aren't cheap, but they do excellent work.
