Zo Construction and Handyman

Immediately after my first review, Jeff reached out and was determined to get things settled. He refunded us for the work that didn't get done initially, was very professional and apologetic. I would definitely consider using him in the future, after everything was said and done we realized it was a huge misunderstanding anyways. We appreciate Jeff's efforts to do right by us.

Jeff was great, easy to get a hold of and always got back to me quickly when I messaged him. The work was done well and gutters are still up even after all of the rain/wind we've had recently. I will definitely be calling again for other repairs as needed.

Initially scheduled for March 31. It was raining that day, so rescheduled for April 5 at 9AM. He didn't show up. I called him and he said he would be here at noon. He didn't show up again. Left three voice mail messages. He called April 10, said he had to go out of town and would return April 17. Rescheduled for April 18 at 9:30AM. This time he arrived and did the work.

We have now hired Jeff and Linda to help with jobs in our old home and new. He is always quick to respond if he can do the work, comes out for a quote in a timely manner. Most recently he helped us hang an exterior door into our garage and additionally installed a dog door in that door. The work was done very well. We will continue to call Jeff for any of our needs!

price seemed high. Did not give estimate before work was performed. Did good job trouble shooting use of one way valve to fix a sewage problem.

First, I want to apologize to Zo Construction for my very late review submission. They deserve better because they treated me very well. Here’s what happened… When I attempted to exit my house through the back door, I discovered that the door knob would not unlatch and I could not open the door. I took apart the door knob to try to remove the interior mechanism to unlatch the door, but I couldn’t get the mechanism out. I then tried to remove the entire door, but no luck. So in a panic, I started calling handymen for help. Only Zo Construction could send a repairman that same day. Not only that, the repairman arrived within an hour of my phone call. The repairman (I’m so sorry I can’t remember his name!) was able to remove the latch mechanism from the door. I was expecting to have to replace the entire door handle, but the repairman and I went to the hardware store where he found a replacement latching mechanism that would work in my door knob assembly. So, my wonderful repairman saved me a bunch of money. We returned to the house where he repaired the door knob and got it working again. All of this took less than an hour. I am so grateful to Zo Construction for helping me on short notice and doing an excellent job. I have used three handyman services this year and Zo Construction was by far the best. Angie’s List, please award Zo Construction the Superior Service Award. They absolutely deserve it.

Mr. Mc Gaha arrived and solved the problem in five minutes. He was a true professional and rest assured if I have any work that needs to be done he will be the first to be called. Plus the first that I would recomend to anyone else!

Mr. McGaha was responsible for removing the old caulk and replacing with new. To repair the crack in the decorative patio, he purchased supplies to blend the filled cracks with the color of the patio. This repair will eliminate any issues caused by the winter. He cut the old rotted wood from the barn door and replaced with new wood. He filled in the gap between the woods with caulk. I told him that I would paint the new wood.

The work was completed in a timely fashion. Jeff and his team did an excellent job and my grandparents were pleased with the results.

Called on a Friday and he answered the phone but was in the middle of a job so he asked me to call back and leave a message with call back number. The following Monday his partner called and after explaining the work to be done, he said he'd be out that evening or the next day. Never heard from him. A couple days later the owner called and apologized, and said he'd be out that evening or the next day. Never heard from him again. They may do good work...I don't know and doubt I'll ever find out, because if he's is this unprofessional about a making and keeping an appointment, he doesn't deserve "our" business.

First of all, we did receive a call after placing a request for services. We were quoted $175-200 to do the installation. They were supposed to come on a Monday afternoon, but when I had not heard from them by 4:15, I called was told they were tied up on another job. We rescheduled for the following day. The installer came at 3:30 that next day. He was here until 8:30. He asked for $175.00 and I wrote him the check. After they left my husband noted that we could not lock the deadbolt (which had just been installed) because it did not line up correctly. Upon further inspection we noted that the door was crooked, with a larger gap at the top sides and it narrowed as it went down. Also, apparently the top trim strip around the door was broken and was loose from the wall. Shortly after the installer left, we received a text message saying the amt. paid was incorrect. My husband called and told the owner that this was the price we'd been quoted. (He wanted $250.00). He agreed to come out to make repairs to the door the next day. He did work on the door and the deadbolt can now be locked, but the door does rub against the door frame still and is crooked. He told me that this "was as good as it gets." He also said that the usual charge is $175.00 to install the storm door and $250.00 to install the exterior door. If that had been the case, we would not have hired this company. That was more than we'd paid to have Menard's install a storm door and exterior door in the front of the house 2 yrs. ago. I should have insisted on some sort of written work order/contract. I did offer to pay an additional $25.00 since that would have still been in the price range quoted. He did not take it. After inspecting the door when he got home from work, my husband was not pleased with the installation and now we will hire someone else to come and work on it. The first installer and the owner who came today were polite and friendly.

It could not have gone better. I was very pleased with the work and their clean-up. I emailed Jeff with the description of the work and photos. He emailed me immediately that he can do the work, that he had a break in his schedule that he could fit the project in. I expressed concern with the dry wall, I wanted to make it was a professional job. In addition to sending a worker, he also came to handle the dry wall. Although he originally thought this project would be done in a day, he wanted to come back the next day to finish the drywall. I really couldn't have been more pleased and look forward to working with them in the future. The cost was a flat fee.

He called me back and said he would be out on Monday about 5 (this was on Friday). I took off work early so I would be home when he called or came out. He did neither. How very rude and disrespectful of me and my time and lastly unprofessional.

Jeff communicated via email through Angie's List. He was very prompt on returning email and calls. The handyman arrived on time. Work was completed in a timely fashion. Work area was cleaned up before leaving. I would definitely use this service again.

Jeff and his team did a great job. They worked hard and covered a lot of ground over the course of 2 days. They had to paint around the spindles (aluminum) on the railing, and did a great job keeping them clean. They also kept the surrounding patio area clean/paint free which was great.

It went well. Did a good job replacing the two 10' back porch posts. The window wood frames that had rotted were replaced, painted, and caulked as well. The window panels were much better than before with the rotten wood and the repair was sorely needed to prevent further deterioration.

Great. He did a great job at a very fair price. Friendly, cares about doing a great job. Wants to please you.

He set an appointment time. He called 2 or 3 times, but never showed up. He never followed up afterwards either.

Arrived on time and did a great job. Very helpful! Will hire again.

During the initial inspection, Jeff examined the roof and climbed into attic to determine where the leak was located. When he returned two days later, he removed a minimal amount of siding, to allow access to shingles. He found an installation error, where flashing was not installed properly, when roof was replaced 6 years ago. The flashing was properly re-installed and sealed. Appearance following the repair was excellent and guaranteed not to leak for a year. The slight dip in the roofline where the leak originated was eliminated. Time for the repair was just a bit over 2 hours.

Jeff is my go-to guy for being a "handyman". He gets it done and solves problems. He goes above and beyond to make it look great.

Frustrating to repeatedly reach out and not hear back, particularly with a prepaid purchase. We have roofing issues, typically the type that you do not want to ignore if you like having a dry home. It's pouring now and our roof is likely leaking since we have not had it fixed yet. Searching now for another provider, one that wants our business.
