Z & Z TREE SERVICE

I contacted Bob Rowland on Saturday evening after the tree came down and he was able to come out the next day on Sunday to give me an estimate. They were able to come the following day, Monday, to cut down what remained of the tree and cut up what had fallen. The crew arrived on time and the work was done very quickly and efficiently. The yard was cleaned up of remaining debris and they even hauled away some branches we had collected from previous storms. They also cut down a small limb from a neighbor's tree that had been broken from the storm. All in all, they did a fantastic job and I would definitely hire them again!

Bob Rowland from Z & Z Tree Service did a great job trimming trees in the front and back side of our house that were hanging over our roof and the neighbor's chimney. He also trimmed trees that were mingled with all of the utility lines in the back of our house (and that were difficult to access and trim). He really did a fantastic job with the trim job and clean-up. His clean-up effort was so good that I actually got home from work and didn't even know he had been there until I looked up at my roof and noticed that the overhanging branches were gone. I also couldn't believe what a good job he did trimming the trees that were closely entwined with the utility lines behind out house. Not only are things safer now, but aesthetically, it looks infinitely better. In terms of price, I think it would be hard for anyone to match Bob's offer. We paid $500 for the total project, and the other quotes I received from Angie's List A-level providers were $750 and $780. He also responded very promptly to my initial phone message, and he was able to perform the work before I anticipated (within a week or so of me accepting his quoted offer). Overall, I am very glad that we hired Bob to trim our trees, and I will certainly hire him again in the future if and when further trimming is required.

I was promptly contacted by Bob after my phone call and he provided an estimate that was a bit lower than the others I received for the same scope of work. I was told that it would be a few weeks until he could get to our project due to the severe spring weather. He eventually called and gave me a date for the work to be done (a Tuesday). Did not arrive on that date, nor did I receive a call to tell me that he would not be coming. When I was finally able to reach him by phone he explained that he could not do the work as scheduled because it was too wet to take out the tree. I was told that he would come after the July 4th weekend, which suited us, as we were to be out of town. We had rain Tuesday night but, as I was packing up the car to go to the lake, Bob was arriving with his crew on Wednesday morning. (Why was it not too wet to cut that day?) they proceeded to take down the tree. It is admittedly a very tight area in which to work and right on the border of my neighbor's yard, but he made no noticeable attempt to fell the tree in my yard. the tree fell right up onto my neighbor's patio area - nothing was damaged, but....They proceeded to cut up the tree where it laid and left a large mess in my neighbor's yard, with lots of sawdust that she then had to clean after I left for the lake as scheduled. I explained that she was immaculate in the maintaining of her yard and asked that they use extra care in cleaning up. The other issue was that they broke one of our other young oaks (25 feet tall) in half when taking out the big tree, leaving a gapping wound. I recognize that "things happen" in this business but felt that while they were rushing to get to another job that was mentioned, they lost focus on my job and were careless. I was told "Well, at least I told you about it. I could have just left and you would not have known. Other companies do that!" Bob offered to remove the tree if it did not survive the major damage it incurred, but I would not have him back for fear of more damage. No mention was made of a reduction in price, and I had already written the check so t hat I could get out on time with my family or I would have had more presence of mind to ask for some compensation. This company has done work for a neighbor and for my son in the past, with no apparent problem. Their prices are competitive, however I would not feel comfortable using them again. I felt as though I was lied to when they did not show up on the day scheduled and that they did not have the appropriate equipment to do the work safely in the confined space, despite the fact that he did look at the work before I received the estimate.

Jobs done efficiently. You could never tell they were there. Cleanup was spectacular. Grade A experience time and time again!

I called Z and Z Tree Service and left a message that I needed some trees trimmed. Within 1 hour Bob Rowland returned my call and said he was finishing a job in the area and would stop by to give me an estimate. We agreed on a price and he said he would be able to do the job within a week. I told him I had roofers coming before the weekend and asked if he could at least get the two large limbs hanging over my roof done before they came to roof my house. Bob had other jobs scheduled, but said he would do all he could to work me in. That afternoon he drove in my driveway and began working on that first tree. He skillfully dropped the two large limbs without touching the roof, and then removed three additional large limbs. He and his two helpers Gary and Steve cleared my brush pile and most of the smaller limbs. Bob said he would return the next day to finish the job. The next day it rained so he did not come; however, the following day he was back and completed the job. He and his crew were very professional. What they do is dangerous work as well as an art. It was a pleasure to do business with them, and I truely appreciate Bob going the extra mile to meet my timeline.

We have used Z&Z a number of times. He does a good job, cleans up, and is VERY reasonable.

He always does an excellent job. We have used them for 3 years and are always pleased. He quoted me one price and when he got into the job, he corrected the amount to reflect the work. His honesty is something that we really like.

He is great to work with, very reasonable, the group cleans up well, and the prices are very good. He’ll advise trying to save the tree rather than just chopping it down, in some cases waiting a season before cutting it.

I have used Bob several times in the past. He does great work. I have moved to a new location. I called Bob. He promptly returned my call and came out quickly for a free estimate. We agreed on a price and he came out and did the work and cleaned up everything. I have recommended him to several people. All of them were highly satisfied. The price was reasonable and the work was exceptional.

A call was placed and quickly returned. Bob checked the property for things I wanted done and looked for problems I might not have noticed. It is a wooded property. A list of trees to be serviced was made and a price was given. A date was set to return to do the work. The team arrived on time, completed all of the work, and cleaned up the area. All of the work was done as I had envisioned. Z & Z Tree Service has worked on the property several times. I will have them return in the future. They do very good work at a great price.

It went great, I will use Z & Z for all future tree service I need. Instead of charging me around $1500 to remove a very large tree he suggested me going to Menards and getting some Tree Paint to help nurse the damaged area of the tree. Even though I had a full tree of leaves all summer 2 other companies told me the tree needed to come down immediately. Z & Z didn't use any scare tactics about tree falling and suggested a less than $10 alternative which should help the tree and prevent me from having to remove a very large tree. It was so nice dealing with someone who was not out to make a quick dollar. I highly recommend this company!

This is the best tree service I have ever used. I would definitely recommend them to others.

Did excellent job with high degree of difficulty. Cleaned up the work areas and followed all requests / instructions per our agreements.

Bob Rowland was referred to us by a friend. We also found him on Angie's List and he had a superb rating. He came out, reviewed the work we wanted done and gave us a very fair estimate. Five days later, he came and did the work as promised, plus extras. Because of the high cost to bring out a stump grinder, Bob gave us a strategy to use to help rot the stump. He did say that if this doesn't work to our satisfaction, to call him and he will arrange for the contractor to come out and grind the stump. Within 2 hours, they were done and the trees look so much better. We will definitely use him in the future and have already recommended him to a friend.

WE'VE USED THIS COMPANY BEFORE. WE CALLED ONE EVENING AND THEY CAME OUT THE NEXT MORNING. THE PRICE WAS FANTASTIC; JERRY EVEN GROUND DOWN ANOTHER STUMP AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. NICE CLEAN UP. WILL USE AGAIN.

HE CAME OUT FRIDAY TO GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE ON CUTTING DOWN 2 TREES AND TRIMMING ANOTHER. I TOLD HIM TO CALL ME NEXT WEEK AND I SPECIFICALLY TOLD HIM THAT I WANTED TO BE HERE WHEN HE DID THE WORK. WHEN I GOT HOME FROM THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE THEY HAD DONE SOME WORK. THEY LEFT COKE CANS AND DEAD LIMBS ALL OVER THE YARD. WE HAD TO PICK UP THE LIMBS OURSELVES FOR OVER AN HOUR. HE TOOK A SECTION OF FENCE DOWN AND WE HAVE TWO DOGS. HE BROKE SOME OF THE SCREWS ON THE FENCE. THE SIDE OF THE GARAGE HAD BEEN SCRAPED FROM THE LIMBS. HE IS WANTING TO GET PAID FOR A JOB THAT IS NOT COMPLETE. HE TOOK ONLY ONE BRANCH OFF THE ONE TREE WE WANTED TRIMMED. HE CUT THE RIGHT SIDE OFF OF THE TREE WE WANTED TO COME DOWN AND THE ENTIRE LEFT SIDE IS STANDING. HE CUT LIMBS OFF A TREE THAT WE DIDN'T ASK TO HAVE CUT.

MR. ROWLAND WAS VERY NICE. NEVER MET HIM. JOB WAS DONE WHILE I WAS AT WORK. DIDN'T ARGUE PRICE 'CAUSE I HAD NOTHING TO COMPARE.

BOB WAS ON TIME, LISTENED TO WHAT I WANTED DONE AND THEN DID IT. VERY POLITE AND CONGENIAL.

BOB RESPONDED TO MY INITIAL PHONE CALL PROMPTLY. HOWEVER, HE DID NOT SHOW UP ON THE DAY HE SAID HE'D COME BY FOR AN ESTIMATE. HE CALLED LATER THAT DAY TO RESCHEDULE COMING OUT THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE FOLLOWING DAY, HE DID NOT SHOW UP AT THE TIME INDICATED, INSTEAD I GOT A PHONE CALL AN HOUR BEFORE DARK INDICATING HE'D BE OVER. BOB LOOKED AT THE TREE AND BUSHES BASICALLY IN THE DARK. SAID HE'D BE BACK OVER THE NEXT AFTERNOON TO SEE THINGS IN THE DAY LIGHT AND GIVE ME A QUOTE. A WEEK LATER, I HEARD FROM HIM, INDICATING HE STILL NEEDED TO SEE THE TREE IN THE DAYTIME TO GIVE ME A QUOTE, GIVING ME THE IMPRESSION IT WOULD BE DONE THE NEXT DAY. AGAIN, NO QUOTE, AND I HAVEN'T HEARD FROM HIM. I'M OVER IT.

PROMPTLY RETURNED INITIAL CALL AND SAID HE WOULD CHECK OUT THE JOB THAT AFTERNOON AND CALL ME BACK WITH A PRICE. I NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN.

THEY EVEN USED A LEAF BLOWER FOR CLEARING OFF THE DRIVEWAY. TWO OTHER ESTIMATED I GOT WERE $500 AND HIGHER. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.
