It took them only two days to rip out and replace/install the entire job! They replaced the windows to the exact measurements of the previous windows, fabricated all sill and trim work to match the old, and caulked the entire job to my satisfaction. When I mentioned that I would like further caulking on the basement windows, the worker went with me to the windows and caulked them to my satisfaction. They cleaned up their own mess, which was unbelievably minimal, and hauled all old materials and trash away at no extra cost.
When I had a complaint from the historic association about the windows needing muntins applied to make them look like the original piano key windows, Jeff the owner actually went with me to the hearing, and helped me work with the IHPC to an agreement that was satisfactory to all, then he and one of his workers came to my house at no extra charge and installed the muntins.
Use this company. They follow the golden rule: do unto others as you want others to do unto you.
Thanks Jeff for your patience, tenacity, and professionalism in performing my job!
One installer completed all the work in 1 working day, as far as I could tell everything was fine with windows. It was right before the weather turned cold. Then I noticed a lot of cold air coming in around windows. called Window World and same installer came out and could not find anything wrong. Yet all winter all I had was a lot of cold air coming in around windows. That was the main reason had old ones replaced, but my old ones were a lot better than new ones, now that weather is nice I noticed I can see outside around screens. I am very unhappy with these windows. I had windows replaced to increase efficiency in my heating cost. It made no difference. I am very disappointed.
Scheduled a meeting in which initial quote was given for a two story apartment rental property. WW showed up on time. Follow up window measurement date was set and they again showed up on time. Ordered the windows and there was an approximate 8 week wait for delivery to the warehouse. We finally called WW after 8 weeks and our windows happened to be in the warehouse so we scheduled an installation date. I requested that WW call me so that I could be on site on the day of installation. Weather was not so great and I was never called about the intial installation cancellation. I finally called the office and they told me that the weather was too bad so I stressed that I wanted to be at the installation. I was told the installer (they subcontract outside crews to install the WW products) would call me. I wasn't called and actually randomly showed up the next day to discover that installation had begun. I was a bit miffed but pleased they were working. The crew worked fast and hard. They had fun and there was a fair amount of coarse language and cigarette smoking. There was a fair amount of debris and most of it was removed. The aluminum trim work was great considering the lack of anything square on the building. In general, window quality was good, but the person who measured seemed to consistently have measured small as the opening around the windows were rather large and just a tiny bit of insulation was put around the windows. The crew replaced the one damaged screen that I pointed out to them. For a large project it was completed in three days and the finishing crew showed up on the weekend to complete the trim work. Overall, this is the best value out there for windows. They crew understood how to remove and install the windows though they were a bit brash. The weak link in WW is probably follow through by the office due to the fact they are very busy. If you keep on top of them you will get a great value but don't expect the process to be seamless at the great price
On Monday Ashley called me and told me the part was ordered and it should be in within two weeks. On November 25th she called and said it was in. We scheduled them to come out on December 8th between 9:00 and Noon. At 10:30 that day they called and said they would be there in 10 minutes. It took 15 minutes and everything was done. They were great. I thought customer service was a thing of the past. Window World proved me wrong. This whole thing cost me nothing. A lifetime warranty is only as good as the company. I would highly recommend them.
Pros:
· Brand new windows
· Quality windows
· Decent communication with installer
Cons:
· Mis-measurements of windows by salesperson
· Uneducated salesperson
· Incorrect windows marked for replacement
· Poor communication from the office
· No return phone calls from the office
· Last-minute rescheduling call from the office
· Office promises to receive return phone call from Office Manager – never received such call
· Had to call more than once to get a response from the office
· No-shows from installer
· Left work unfinished on two occasions (2x4’s left exposed for 2+ weeks)
· Caulk spread across siding
· Face prints left on the glass
· Obvious miscommunication between office and installers
We scheduled an appointment with Window World in December 2013. We planned to have them come out in the Spring. However, due to our own schedules, pushed the time back to the summer. When it was time to schedule, the office made an appointment with us for early August only to call the day before install to reschedule the appointment. They knocked $100 off for our inconvenience. By this time, we had removed all the casing around the four windows we were replacing, per the salesperson’s instructions. When the installers came out around 1:00 PM for the rescheduled appointment the following week, they discovered the salesperson marked the wrong windows for install. The salesperson also measured the windows incorrectly and we learned we were not to remove the casing around the exterior of the window because then the installers had nothing to wrap.
I had to work from home while the installers came out. After being at our house for a few hours, they were able to place the windows in temporarily but said they had to come back to finish the job. This did not make sense because the windows were now nearly complete. My husband purchased 2x4’s for the installers for the exterior of the windows so they could wrap the windows upon completion. The installers said they only needed about three 2x4’s and ended up tripling that amount when they came back. Because of the measuring errors, Window World agreed to take off another $200.
The office promised us the installers would be out earlier for the second trip, around 8:00 AM. I worked from home again for the second trip. For the second trip, the installers called around 1:00 PM and said the office scheduled other jobs ahead of ours. The installers did not show up until after 2:00 PM. When they came back, the two installers brought a third person and still did not finish the job. The head installer told me they would come back on Tuesday to wrap the windows.
Tuesday came and went with no phone call and no projected completion. We gave it one more day. The installers again did not come out. I called the office on Thursday. The woman who answered the phone let me know an office manager would call me back. I received no such phone call. Instead, the installer called and told me the office had booked him so much that he was unable to get back out. The installer asked me to have patience with him and to speak directly with him. He said he would try to come out by Saturday.
Saturday came and went and no installer. My husband called the office on Monday and was promised a return phone call. He received no call, so he called again later. The woman at the office said the installer would definitely be out today to complete the job. My husband also called the installer directly to speak to him about the issue.
By this date, 2x4’s on our windows had been bare for over one week.
I was decently satisfied with the communication I received with the installer, even though there were frustrating gaps with him, as well. The job was finished yesterday and the windows look good. My frustration now is that caulk is slapped on some of our siding and the windows are smudged (not a huge deal), though I believe these both should have been removed in the cleaning process.
The installer understood our frustration and gave me a survey, which I filled out as objectively as possible. We do not intend to use Window World again, even though we are promised a lifetime warranty on the windows.
Overall, my experience with Window World was negative. I felt frustrated with the entire process as it appeared a big box company did not show the care and concern for its customers. That type of customer service tends to lack these days. It took three weeks and four days to install and complete four windows in our home – a job that should be completed in one afternoon. If anyone has any questions about my review, leave a comment to my review and I’ll get back with you.
