And I have a two-year-old. So, they came out late at night. What it turned out to be was just the thermostat and what he charged me for the thermostat was like $300 for something that is $100 at Lowes. Stuff like that makes me question the cost. I appreciated their punctuality and their ability to get out there quick. But, what I was frustrated by, was the cost. He came out, looked at it and nothing was technically wrong, it was just the power had surged out the thermostat. We were already paying $74 for the tech to come out and inspect it. But then on top of that, to replace the thermostat, he was charging me $300 for something that retails at $100. I would have liked a little bit more of transparency and honesty. We were already paying for labor! I am not really sure why they were charging so much extra upcharge on replacement. Especially when we have been pretty faithful customers for the last few years. I think in that moment; I would have just appreciated more transparency. Actually, the problem had resolved itself. It was an emergency, I was just trying to figure out how to get my air conditioner back on for my baby, not needing to do a price check. $300 for a cheap thermostat seems like a little rough, even in that moment.
Description of Work: We had a big storm that had knocked out our power. When the power came back on this year, the air conditioner wouldn’t come back on.

Several weeks ago, I had occasion to have my air conditioning unit checked. I had signed up for a one-time service about three years ago and was so pleased with the work that Williams Comfort Air did, I signed on for three years of maintenance on my furnace and air conditioning systems. On this last visit, in addition to servicing my A/C, Steve Strange was able to discover how to set my very old thermostat back so it would cool to 60 degrees. I didn't tell Steve this, but I would have paid a million bucks for this miracle. Whenever the technicians from Williams come out, I don't get the feeling that they are on the clock and can only spend a certain amount of time on the equipment. They unfailingly explain fully what they are doing. They also try to educate me on whatever aspect of their service about which I am confused. I am one satisfied customer of Williams Comfort Air and can recommend their services to you wholeheartedly.

The furnace was improperly installed. I called william's and they asked for pictures. I only wanted them to reinstall the furnace. They won't call us back or talk us. Three months after buying the furnace, they came out to do maintenance on a different furnace. They said they had someone to work on our water heater. They came out and then said I had no hot water. I called my plumber out, and he said that they unplugged my water heater and told me it didn't work.
Description of Work: The first thing they did was they installed a furnace. The second thing they had done was the water heater.

What happened to writing up an invoice the old fashioned way with "Parts and Labor" with an accurate breakdown, as it should be? Requested weekend service to repair the hot water heater. The invoice leaves no evidence to suggest whether a "new" part was installed or not. The section - "Equipment Identification" - it's all blank. Moreover, there is NO "Parts and Labor" listed anywhere on the invoice. The technician did write the invoice as "replaced a regulator on [deliberately unintelligible] gas manifold", total $347 (the handwriting is, otherwise, very legible). He also added a second charge, "Open supply house after hours", total $153. Make note of the new flat rate - "Williams Comfort Air" charges $153 to retrieve a part after hours. Just curious if all customers get charged the same rate.. Why not $75 or $100, but exactly "$153"..?! It's obvious that the technician's bottom line had to add up to an even $500. This is just not right. Writing an accurate invoice is not rocket science. Please gentlemen! You lost my business..

The whole process was great until install. The techs were very unprofessional and smelled like they were smoking illegal drugs while they were doing the work. I called to have some of their work redone because I wasn't satisfied. That was an ordeal as well. I also never got my thermostat that goes with my unit that I paid for. Just a bad experience all together.

I called them around 12:30 and they assured me they would come right out. Then a few hours later I called and then they said they would be here before 5, and it is now 6:30 and I called to cancel and called another company for the emergency service.

Three years ago they installed two gas furnaces and two central air conditioners. I finally decided to write a review because the list of problems they have caused me continues to grow, even three years later. I have called many times over the years and customer service is usually friendly and sympathetic, offering to send a technician out (who cannot fix the problem or takes multiple trips to do so) or saying they need to escalate the issue and I will be called back (which has never happened on any call). One customer service rep even berated me for not calling sooner. Here is a partial list of what they did wrong: 1. Installed too small of a unit for the second floor. The air conditioner cannot keep up with the heat when the exterior temperature is in the high 80s or hotter. I found this out after I finally called to get a second opinion. 2. The second opinion also informed me that the old owners added too many supply vents that our system was not built for. Williams Comfort Air did not inform me of this. 3. Did not seal the ductwork immediately leaving the furnace. All of the hot air was blowing into the closet. They didn’t fix this until the THIRD technician came out. 4. Did not install the internet accessible thermostat I paid for. Gave an excuse about not being able to run wires and giving me an upgrade instead, which did not have the additional capabilities they stated. They fixed this after two years. 5. The sales rep gave us no options for different efficiencies or types of units. Our A/C broke in midsummer and in a rush to get it fixed I accepted the quote without the proper research or questions on my part. In hindsight I would have paid for a more efficient unit had I been offered one. 6. I spent hours cleaning up after the technicians installed the units. 7. We have a pipe that runs above our bedroom that bangs when the furnace comes on. I showed the technician the exact pipe in the attic but he said I needed all new ductwork instead for $2,700. This time their incompetence bordered on being a scam.

Williams Comfort Air is a company based on trust and customer service. According to our records, we installed 2 gas furnaces and 2 air conditioners per contract on June 21, 2013. The air conditioning units that we removed were 2 ton units, the two new units were also 2 ton units. On November 29, 2013 we were called to address duct issue next to the furnace. We found the transition duct board needed to be re-taped and sealed with silicone. On January 21, 2014, a technician went to the home to look at the noise issue in master bedroom when the furnace kicks on. After getting in the attic, the technician found the branch runs were half flex and half metal, some ducts were taped together, exhaust fans ran on 2 different types of duct and taped together, etc. We gave 2 options to bring the exhaust up to code and a third option explaining if nothing was completed the noise would return. We completed the last cooling maintenance on July 29, 2014. In September 2015, we returned to replace the thermostat with a wireless. I wasted a day and half waiting for someone to look at my AC unit from this firm, I will no longer use them since they are not reliable despite them being the original installers.
Description of Work: I purchased a new AC and Furnace in January 2016 from WCA. I had the pre season AC check by them per service agreement in June with no issues. Several days ago, I heard metallic sounding noises from the compressor unit outside upon start-up which disappeared after a minute or so I called and scheduled a technician to come out and check out the unit. He arrived on time the next day unfortunately during a power outage on the east side of town. He was courteous and checked what he could without power and said to call the office once the power comes back on The power returned several hours later and contacted the office, I was told that someone would come out, hopefully the same technician later in the day, After waiting till 6 pm, I called and for whatever reason my call was not sent to the scheduler. I was told I was on the schedule for the next day and someone would 30 min before they arrived, They could not tell me AM or PM. I waited around for a call all day and never heard back and a technician never showed up.

Our AC stopped working 2 days before we were having company over Memorial Day weekend, and we were able to get William's Comfort Air to come out the same day we called for service. Our technician was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Extremely well. Service was available quickly, service man was prompt and professional, and he showed he cared about our home and our problem. (This is only just expected service, but it's not that common any more so I mention it.) He quickly found the problem as burned wires at a contactor installation (another contractor had created a fire hazard two weeks prior, which had indeed caused a fire that had burned up some wires), then provided the standard book price for the service call and repair. (He had provided the cost to be expected previously upon arrival as well.) We were stuck, so we accepted their standard price, and expected to pay a lot for fixing what another contractor had messed up just two weeks prior. (Other contractor did not return calls, but was quick to accept our $435 for a brief inspection and repair. Learning that we had just had the system inspected and that he was correcting, then re-doing work another contractor had done, the technician surprised us with a much smaller bill, which was categorized as an "electrical repair". We were very pleasantly surprised. The other contractor didn't even return our calls, while this fellow gave us confidence and we would have paid the typical higher price no matter how short the work time. We will call Williams Comfort Air first next time, and not go shopping for discounts that might be false economy.
Description of Work: Air conditioner had suddenly stopped cooling. Needed problem diagnosed and corrected. Only two weeks since another contractor had worked on it.

We have used Williams Comfort Air for years and are on the service contract for maintenance of our HVAC. When our air conditioning wasn't functioning, a tech was dispatched after-hours. Unfortunately, the repair would require ordering a part. The office got the part ordered quickly and the same tech was sent out to repair the AC when it arrived. We really appreciated having minimal downtime. What was even better was that the failed part was covered under warranty. Really, actually covered. Not every business honors guarantees. The fix and part were at no cost to us even though it seemed labor-intensive and was a big part (the coil).

Why is it so hard to find anyone to repair something that isn't trying to rip you off? A/C went out yesterday and the repairman wanted to charge me almost $1200 to replace a motor that I just ordered for $186 including express shipping. The motor only takes a half hour to change. I understand overhead and trying to earn a living but that kind of mark up is ridiculous. Also tried to scare me into a new unit and a service contract in the process. They also showed up without a phone prior to knocking on my door. Also when he got back from writing up all the paperwork in the truck which took a 1/2 hour he didn't know before coming back in, just walked back in like he owned the place. Very rude!

Called this afternoon to schedule a service for today. A guy took done the information, service address, management company name, phone number, and my email address and said a technician will call me to schedule a time for today's visit. He said that they will be able to do the service today. He asked me if the A/C can be turned on. I said I have to ask the tenants to be sure. Called the tenants and then called the office again. Office lady couldn't pull out the case request for service. So she asked again all of the information they say they need in order to establish a new request for service; while on the phone with the lady, a call came in, and it was another lady from Williams Air. She said there was email request for services (she was able to tell me the right service address, my email address, etc). I told her that I spoke to a human being (a gentleman) about the service request. She said the request was made through email. Anyway, she said that no one can do the service today. If I knew they cannot make it today, I would have called another company. Their responses to service call is terrible. Will not recommend this company to others.

They came back with an estimate that was extremely high to replace the furnace. They gave me an estimate on a new furnace. We really didn't go through with anything with them. The big deal was a great price. The furnace replacement price they gave me was about three times higher than I got from someone else. The big deal was a good deal. They were very professional.

Scheduled weeks before to be first in line for the day. Finally after waiting all morning for them to show, I cancelled the service call. They were nice and professional, but waiting during a three hour window for a late arrival is not the way I wanted to spend my day.

Our furnace died during a cold spell in February. My husband found Williams Comfort Air to be top rated on Angie's List so he called. Within an hour or two of calling, we had a service person at our house. Because our furnace was old and evidently had been repaired several times prior (we just moved into the house in August 2015), it was more cost effective to purchase a new system. We were pleased with the process of removing the old furnace and installing the new one. The installers were neat and clean. The work was done in a day. The best part is that we went for only one night without heat!

Our system was over 22 years old and starting to slow down. I had a coupon so called them and they came out in a very reasonable amount of time. They had such a deal, I counLdn't refuse. Came for estimate on Sat and did the work on Monday. Granted it was the middle of winter and a slow period!! They finished totally in one day and cleaned up everything. Explained what they were doing as they went along. My daughter called a few days later and said her system had quit working. I gave her William Confort air and they also put in her system plus a new water heater. I do believe I do get a referral for that??
