White Oak Construction

The whole experience was a disaster. Wanted to convert an old bath tub to a tiled walk in shower, which they said they could do for about $5000. After first meeting end of Jan, all I got was the run around. There was a first meeting, but other than taking measurements, not a lot was accomplished. I got an initial quote of $5000-$7500 for the shower and a quote of $2300-$3000 for 3 quartz vanities for 3 bathrooms. I had to pay $750 to schedule a designer meeting, at which most but not all decisions were finalized, including picking out the quartz. By now it was middle of March. I received a final contract for final costs of $10,288. Immediately after signing, I realized the contract did not include a credit for the $750 I already paid. When I reached out to them, I was told that the quartz price had gone up and they would be charging me an additional $2000, almost double the original quote. AFTER I SIGNED THE CONTRACT. I tried to speak to manager, got more run around, then was told they were refunding my money, which they did rather than fix this mess. So they wasted 2 months and now I have to start over with getting quotes. I find it ironic that another company who quoted me $2500 for 3 vanities in Jan, honored their quote end of March.

They did not charge for the estimate. No work was completed. They approached up a couple of years later about the siding on our house, they were not really appropriate. We didn't use them because another company was much more reasonable on cost. For price, it was much higher than the other place.

I was impressed with the quality of the windows. They were very kind, courteous, and work very efficiently. They were very good to work with and I will definitely use them again.

It was terrible; over priced. I called them up for an estimate, they came out here and gave us a very inflated price and said oh, but if you sign up today, then we can do it for this much money and he gave me a much reduced price. But I had to do it right then; it was a very high pressure type situation. So we told them no, we weren't comfortable with that. And then they called back and said yeah we understand we made a mistake with the pricing, so they sent another pair out. And so we talked to them and I said you gotta convince my wife. So they came out and we told them exactly what we didn't like about it; they did the exact same thing, and they actually came back with a quote that was a thousand dollars higher than what the other guys said. I thought that it was a high pressure scam from the get-go. And I ended up getting the same job - that they quoted me like $25,000 for the job - I ended up getting the job done for $5,000. That was the other thing - they wouldn't give me a written quote. They wrote it down on a blank pad, and they kept it. That's as far as it got. We weren't gonna do business with them in any way, shape, or form. It's an F all the way through. Even the professionalism, they were very cordial, but they didn't listen to what I had to say. Even when we gave them the complaint, they went into the same routine - well we can give you this price if you say yes right now - the same thing we complained about. They're straight F's all the way down. I won't say F for quality because the company that we did hire used some of the same products; it was a very good quality but we never got past the discussion so I can't comment on quality. No I wouldn't use this company again for another quote; I wouldn't even get close to them.

The scheduled appointment came & went. They never showed up or called.

The workers were prompt and very courteous. They did everything quickly and efficiently and made sure that the mess was cleaned as as they progressed. I would recommend this company to anyone and everyone.

One of their canvassers did a cold call walk up, followed by appointment "for half the price as a partner to advertise", and "we will give you a written estimate", followed by three hours of folksy bs around the kitchen table. They offered three prices for three storm doors and one security door. $20,000.00 "normal". $16,000.00 "this month only". $10,000.00 which had to be agreed to right then with no written contract followed by, Thieves and robbers. I said, "Send me a written contract/estimate". Get the heck out of my house. Not holdin' my breath. It was high pressure sales where the bottom line was still quite pricey.

This was our first experience with building a custom home. We were so thankful to have David and White Oak Construction in charge of the project and handling all of the details for us. The project went beautifully. We had a vision, and he created the dream for us. David?s attention to detail was very much appreciated. He listened to our needs and helped us make logical decisions throughout the entire process. He was constantly on site checking on the progress of each phase of the project. The fact that White Oak Construction is experienced in a broad range of skills was important to me in choosing a home builder. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone interested in new construction or a home improvement project.

Extremely happy with the quality of the product they offer. Makes a huge difference in the appearance, comfort level, energy efficiency of our home. These windows are easy to clean, easy to open and close, block solar radiation, and keep our home warm in winter. The installation was professionally done. Crew was friendly and polite. Very attentive to small details. Our 20 year old home really needed this upgrade and I am very confident we used the right service provider for the job. Would definitely hire this company again.

They were friendly and professional; however, he told me that they have an A+ rating on Angie's List and they clearly have a B rating. The estimate was extremely high, but he could give me a very deep discount if I signed today. Prior to the estimate I was called several times in a few hours.

They did all the work in one day. They were efficient, on time, and cleaned up everything before they left.

We had new windows installed by White Oak Construction on the front of our house and in the master bedroom. I think the window itself is a high quality product and the crew that installed them were prompt, skilled and professional. I really liked the fact that they use their own crew and do not subcontract the job out. There were 7 windows total that needed to be replaced. They were here at 9AM and done by about 2PM, cleaned up well after themselves and hauled the old windows and debris away. All in all they did an excellent job. I think the windows are a bit expensive (even after they worked with us to get the cost down), but sometimes you have to pay up a bit for quality and the windows do have a lifetime guarantee that is transferable to the next owner. There is a noticeable reduction in noise and draftiness in the rooms where the windows were replaced. All-in-all I was pleased with the experience and will have them back to replace the remaining windows in the house later this year.

We felt like they didn't give themselves enough time. They thought they could get the job done in about five days and it took them seven and a half days. Then, it just seemed like they just wanted to move too fast. We weren't all that happy. They could have put some of the baseboard down before they painted the walls and that kind of thing. But, they had to get the job done. We felt it moved a little too fast for us. All in all, it came out well enough. We had two bids and they were within $100 of each other. I think they tried hard to keep us happy. They were very punctual. They were here when they said they would be here, unless we had bad weather. Then, they called and let us know. They were a little bit too fast for John's comfort. The contractor sat down with him and discussed why things had changed.

A few months ago we had White Oak out to replace a window in our dining room. White the price was exorbitant, the quality of the window and the install itself was top notch. At the time they quoted us for the window, we also received a quote to re-wrap some of the pre-existing windows. A couple weeks ago, I contacted White Oak again to see if the quote was still good. White Oak came out to the house, confirmed the price was still good,wrote up a service agreement for the work that we both signed, and collected my credit card number for a deposit (which was never charged luckily). Two weeks later (today), White Oak comes back out, apologizes and explains that they won't honor the previous agreement because they only wrap windows that they install themselves. They are a full construction company that lists windows, siding, soffit & facia, doors, and homes & additions on their website. It's clear they have this ability, they're just choosing not to because they want to sell more of their expensive windows. I had previously planned on having them replace 3-4 more windows and a couple doors in the future, but I'll be looking for someone else at this point.

It went very well. Once a contract is signed, the work is scheduled and ran on schedule. There were a couple things I noticed after the work was finished (minor finishing work). They came back immediately and fixed the few items. Very pleasant to work with. In fact, I am getting ready to call them in a couple months to complete another side of the house. The quality of the products used are excellent.

They refused to do an estimate unless they could speak to my wife so I sent them on their way.

We had two windows replaced. They showed up on time. They did a great job. The windows look absolutely wonderful. For any appointment I've with them, they've always been prompt. This is first dealing I've had with them; I'm glad that I select them.

The new windows are much better than the old ones. They did it promptly and professionally. We had an issue with one of their sales personnel (a stolen check) They were on top of it and the manager came promptly with a check for the loss involved.

It was good because it is life time warranty and will replace the damage at no cost and labor at no cost and the color is good the bugs used to often come through windows into house but now it is much less bugs. I will wait till spring or this Fall to see if any more bugs coming in the windows. They will give service to meet my requests or needs to replace all that have faults. They also helped with getting payment loan in good deal. The salesman was very patience to explain me writing back and forth for 7 hours. I'm pleased with their service :) It is little to early to say until it is 1 year. It is not one year yet. I will get back with you if I have concerns later on.

Door to door guy came by yesterday and I accepted an appointment the next day for an estimate for 2 windows and whole-house gutter replacement. Nick (Director of Marketing) arrived today and spent an hour or so measuring and then explaining all of the details of their windows. I asked for an estimate for the 2 jobs, he made some calculations and wrote a large number down. I questioned it and then he said if I would be a "showcase" home in the neighborhood (1 per area) then he could give me a lower price. He then dropped the price by half. I challenged him on the lower price and wanted to know why they even write down the first price, because it's insulting to see a 50% reduction in a matter of seconds. Nick then mentioned that they are losing money at the lower price, which I again challenged him on. He showed me a price sheet and claimed that they were losing a grand or two on the windows alone. I asked Nick to please send me an estimate with his best price, whatever that is, and I'll compare it with the other quotes I planned to get. He then became rude and forcefully packed up his things and only answered me with short, one word phrases from then on as he rushed out of the house, clearly upset that I wouldn't sign a contract tonight. You do not come into someone's home and then be rude to them when you don't get a deal. I never mentioned that they had lost the deal, I just wouldn't sign tonight and I wanted an estimate to compare with others. I will not use them for any services due to Nick's very unprofessional behavior. I wanted to post my experience just to make other AL members aware of the behavior. I will update if I receive any contact from White Oak regarding this situation.

I scheduled a free estimate inspection for a new front entrance door. Nick Dine visited my home and was very thorough with explaining the product, the service and the lifetime warranty on everything from installation to the door itself. I was given a respectable variety of product to choose from in a descent range of prices. A week after the contract was signed, measurements were taken by an installer. He was a very nice guy, showed up on time even with the snow/ice issues our area faced. Approximately, 3 weeks later an appointment was scheduled for install. The door installer, Dan, was awesome. He was very professional and welcomed any questions and concerns I had all the install. Ryan Culp, field supervisor< stopped to check out everything and discuss the warranty of the door and quality of work. The install took about 4 hours. Dan cleaned up and vacuumed the area around the doorway. He hauled away the old door and all the parts that went with it.

Good, didn't want invest that much because we are getting our home ready to sale

I loved them. They were very professional; they cleaned up after themselves, and I love the windows. I have so many windows to do that I will use them again.

Removed wallpaper, flooring, bathtub, wallboard. Removed existing plumbing & re-plumbed. Beautiful tilework from the sub-contractor on walls, shower floor, and bathroom floor. BUT the daily dirt, mess, and lack of follow up from the supervisor and salesperson result in my not wanting to hire this company to do any more work. The sub-contractors did not put down drop cloths from the bathroom to the front door, so there was a constant trail that I had to vacuum daily. And when White Oak put down drop cloths, they did not empty them daily, so again I had to clean up daily. The management had our supervisor working several jobs at the same time in Shelbyville, Fishers, and here in Carmel. I felt like the project manager. Some days no one showed up or called. Some days there was a phone call -- always with an excuse why no one would be working that day. We had additional work to be done in our home, but lack of response resulted in our hiring other people to do our work. No caulking was done to the shower doors at the time of installation and despite several visits from the sub-contractor (Lee Supply) I finally had someone else take care of it. No hot water initially from the shower because the sub-contractor did not remove the "scald preventer" from the fixture. A broken mirror took over a month to get repaired due to the supervisor submitting the wrong measurements. I am hiring someone else to finish the bare spots which were not grouted around the existing door into the bathroom and around the linen closet door -- sub-contractor had to cut away some of the wood to accommodate the new tile flooring. The bathroom looks beautiful, but the entire project was a pain to endure.

White Oak installed two high quality patio doors and one entry door. We immediately noticed the difference the doors made keeping the cold out. The crew arrived as scheduled and did a great job. During the install a field supervisor arrived to check if we had any questions or concerns. Then a few days after the installation we received a personal thank you note from a vice president thanking us for our business. This was certainly a nice touch showing that customer service is very important to White Oak Construction.
