Vacuum Authority

BEWARE!! Not only does Vaccuum Authority over charge, their employees are rude and lie! Also, if you are expecting to return an item that you paid cash for, even if it is within their 7 day period, if the refund amount is over $25 you have to wait for your refund to be mailed to you (by a check from home office) within 15 days!! What????? Never heard of such a policy! I purchased a long hose, was told the short slinky hose offered from Oreck was no longer available. The hose that was sold to me was $34.99+ tax. I got thinking about this ( the long hose is terrible and couldn't imagine why Oreck would do away with the short slinky hose) and checked Amazon. Low and behold...found the short slinky hose (sold by Oreck) also found the long hose for only $17 (also sold by Oreck). So not only was I lied to about the short hoses no longer being available, I was charged double! Now I have to wait up to 15 business days to get a refund of $37.44!! This is UNHEARD OF!! The employees at both locations (86 th st and Greenwood) are EXTREMELY rude and UNPROFESSIONAL! I walked in to the store and was told she'll be with me in a minute....she was on the phone and I could tell it was a personal call! My time is valuable and I AM THE CUSTOMER! 'Try-Before-You-Buy policy, a Money-Back Guarantee, and a Low-Price Promise' this is what I found trying to find corporate information. These are supposedly top reasons for doing business with Vacuum Authority. Nowhere have I found anything regarding how their 'money back guarantee' policy ACTUALLY is! BEWARE!!! SHOP SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

Great, it was 82.00 for the cord change, which I thought was high, but maybe the labor was intense. Great job, sweeper works perfectly now and cord is nice.

I was having some problems with my Dyson vacuum (suction). I called Dyson and they suggested I take it to a repair center for some work that would be covered under warranty. I arrive at this location and didn't even get a greeting. She just looked at me. I thought it was kind of rude but it was 1st thing in the morning and I figured she didn't have her coffee yet. I told her that there should be a ticket in the system from Dyson for me to have my Dyson repaired. She was able to find it with no problems. I asked her how long would it take to get it repaired and she said she doesn't know. I was told I would get a call soon to let me know. The next call I got from them was about 8 days later (including weekend) saying that my vacuum was repaired at that it would cost me $80. I advised her that it that she might have dialed the wrong number because the work on my unit should have been covered by the manufacturers warranty. She said it was not and I would need to pay that amount to pick it up. I asked her why was any work preformed without my knowledge if it was going to lead to out of pocket costs. She said that was not her call to make. I asked her whose was it and she said she did not know. I left it alone and just went and picked up my vacuum. They gave me a bag of trash and said that it was stuck inside the the head of the vacuum. It was human hair, croutons and fruit loops. I could believe that hair might be in there but it was black hair and there is only brown and red in my house. The food looked 'fresh'. Not like it has been trapped inside of a tube with dirt moving around it. The vacuum has worked fine since we've brought it home but I do not believe that they appreciate the way they handle business. I checked for clogs on my own and with the Dyson rep. I believe they probably charged me and Dyson for the repair. I will not return here.

They replaced it while I waited. Quick and EAsy

I brought it in on a Saturday, they promised to call by the following Tuesday. The first thing they did was try to get me to trade in for a new one, which costs around $950.00. I didn't hear from them as promised and the following Saturday I had to call them, and they hadn't even looked at it yet. When I finally picked it up 10 days after promised and brought it home, it didn't even turn on. I paid $79.99 for the repair service, but obviously they didn't repair it. Returned it to them and they still didn't fix it. Their (alleged) certified Miele repairman told me it was either the cord or the motor, but he couldn't tell for sure. Repairman said in order to replace the cord, we had to replace the rewinding unit as well, which we would be $140 plus labor. Said that if we didn't replace the rewinding unit, it would void the warranty. The vacuum is 12 years old - the warranty expired long ago. I didn't want to spend $140 if he wasn't certain that was the problem, so he put it back together and my wife picked it up, but they didn't put the hose back on the unit. So then I had to go back to get the hose (that was the 4th trip to the store without the problem being solved). The next time I used the vacuum at home it overheated again. This time I took it to Cleary's where we bought it originally. They replaced the cord, but said there was nothing wrong with the rewinding unit. The cord had a short at the base of the rewinding unit. Obviously Vacuum Authority didn't bother to check that or they would have found it. Back in business, good as new, for a lot less money. Spend your money at Cleary's - the people at Vacuum Authority have no idea what they're doing.

We dropped off the vacuum and they quickly identified the problem. We appreiciated their honesty. They called us when it was ready which was about five days later and I picked it up. This was my first experience with them and they are extremely friendly people. They seem very knowledgable.

We recently replaced carpeting in our home and our 8 year old Oreck wasn't working as we expected. Put off taking it in for about a week after the installation but when we learned rather unexpectedly that friends from out of state would be visiting in two days, panic set it so I took the cleaner in around 2 PM on Monday, told them my problem and asked about a loaner while they serviced my machine. No loaners were available but they promised to try to work on my cleaner so I could have it back Tuesday morning. Around 6:30 Monday they called to say the work was done and I could pick it up in the morning. And I learned my original purchase included free service calls. Since I'd never used this benefit, my service was FREE.

I had a very good experience. They fixed what was immediately wrong with it and they didn't charge me. They did recommend I get a new vacuum though because there was a crack causing issues but didn't pressure me to buy one.

The repair place is very close. The people are very good. Usually, everything gets done in a day or two. They carry a wide variety of vacuum cleaners. The vacuum cleaner I purchased is the quietest one I have ever had, and it does a wonderful job of vacuuming. The only improvement is that the personnel could dress a little nicer. The overall cleanliness of the place is great. It is just that when you walk in the door, sometimes the people could be dressed a little more professional. I am not judging them on that, but rather on what they can get done. I would use this provider again.

took upright vacuum in because brush wasn't turning on. Thought it had a bad switch. Gentleman look at machine, showed me a safety switch that wasn't engaged and sent me on my way. Very pleased.

While dropping off my Simplicity upright vacuum for a routine service, I talked to Chris about needing a power head for my old Tri-Star Vacuum. He located a used power head which he refurbished and cleaned. He fixed the cord and cleaned the vacuum. No longer relegated to the garage for vacuuming the car, it now has a place of honor back in the house. Once again it is performing as originally intended!

They are excellent. The people are always friendly. They get the work done when they say they will. They are very professional.

They had a really good special about a couple of years ago. I didn't have to pay for the servicing this time because that was included in the sale. They are always very nice and helpful there. My vacuum cleaner is better than any other vacuum cleaner that I have had. Originally it was over $500, but I got it for about $350. They have very good service. In fact, I got a carpet cleaner that I am probably going take it over there in the next couple of weeks as well. They do servicing of other brands and there is a fee attached. The fee is very reasonable. I would highly recommend them. It usually takes about 10 days for them to get your vacuum cleaner done. They give you a call when your vacuum cleaner is ready. You can then pick it up and it's all included in the sale price of your vacuum.
