Updike Bathroom Remodeling

Description of Work: Updike has given me a quote, we have agreed upon a price and the work to be done, but they have not done the work yet. We are having them do a bathroom remodeling which includes installing a shower where there was only a half-bath before. They have allowed me to negotiate my involvement and it has been very helpful. I am looking forward to their work.

Description of Work: After researching on Angie's List multiple bathroom remodelers, I chose Updike Remodeling for an estimate. Dan, the owner was very prompt in responding to my inquiry. He arrived at the scheduled time and was professional. He completed his high level estimate on time and emailed it to us, as we had agreed. Unfortunately it was 40 percent higher than the estimate of 3 other highly ranked Angie's List bathroom remodelers with a similar design. While the price point did not work for us on this project, it was a positive experience with Updike and I would consider engaging with them for an estimate on another project.

Description of Work: We had a glass block shower stall that was leaking. We had to have our shower stall replaced. After several repairs failed we decided to replace the shower stall. I visited Updike's and discussed the issue with Dan Updike. Dan, understanding that we liked the look of the glass block, initially suggested that I talke with a grout specialist and also a glass specialist. He provided me the contact information for 2 companies that I could talk with. He told me that after I followed up with those 2 companies, if I did not get solutions, that he would be happy to work with me on replacing our shower. I was impressed in Dan's interest in my getting a solution even though it might not have meant that he got the job. After following up with those other companies, we decided to replace our shower stall and quickly called Updike. Our old shower base was larger than the standard sized shower bases and Updike was able to provide a custom sized shower base so that we would not have to replace our flooring. The work that was done was done well. Updike personnel communicated excellently with us throughout the project. We are very happy with the new shower base, tile, fixtures, and shower door.

Description of Work: Daniel Updike came to our home to give us an estimate of the cost of remodeling our master bath (garden tub, shower, tile) and repairing plumbing problems. We explained that we are planning to put the home on the market within the year and wanted the bathroom to look nice. He strongly recommended that we NOT remodel. Instead he gave ideas and contacts that might help us in repairing the problems that exist. He did give an estimate on redoing the floor and fixing plumbing, which was fair, though we ultimately decided not to do that for other reasons. Both my husband and I appreciated his candor and honesty and we decided to take his advice and make only the small needed repairs. It really says something about integrity when a remodeler talks a potential client out of a job. THANK YOU. He is at the top of our list when we move into a new home and want the bathroom redone to our tastes.

Description of Work: Called Updike for a plumbing problem in upstairs bath. Mr. Updike explained that I would be better served with a local plumber. He gave me the number of a local company.
