Updike Bathroom Remodeling

It was great! The guys worked really well with accommodating me while working. They were on time, courteous, kind, efficient and precise.

We in the middle of the work. The experience has been fine. We got a detailed quote and the owner is very professional, we were impressed with him unlike the other quotes. He was very knowledgeable, prompt and showed up when he said he would and brought samples when he said he would.

A very strange experience. Dan and I talked on the phone. We went through what I wanted to do for a bathroom remodel project, which, according to Dan, would be roughly $20,000-25,000. I was Ok with the initial figure, and make an appointment with Dan for him to come out at 2pm on Tuesday to have a look at the bathroom and give a better estimate. I also gave him my private parking spot to park since we live in a downtown condo building. At 2:17pm, he called me from downstairs, and said he was not interested in this project any more because apparently his GPS died on the way here so that he had to figure out how to get here from his phone. It took him a while. Then he waited at the front door because someone else was using the buzz box. (BTW, I was ready to give him a vendor code that he could punch in to get in the door anytime.) He said their business is residential, but mine would look like a commercial project that he'd have to charge me twice (!?) Very strange. One major reason I called Updike was that another Angies member left a review saying how Updike did a wonderful job for their small condo bathroom in a historical building (which mine is). I can't really speculate what made him reach a conclusion that he'd have to charge me $40,000 (!) for my tiny little bathroom without even looking at it. I usually have very good experience with Angies providers. Hopefully this is just a one-time glitch!

Dan the owner came out personally to start the process. He was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. His installers were professional and very clean. I was comfortable having them in my home while I was at work. I am so happy with my new bathroom.

THrought the estimates and work, all the contacts were professional, exacting and paid close attention to detail. Dan actually found a mistake in the name of accent tile that prevented mis-ordering of the tile. Jeff was the installer and he was wonderful. He and his helper left the place so clean, that unless you looked into the bathroom, it was difficult to tell that they had been working. We live in a historic building and they were very respectful of all the "rules" that pertain to the building and our neighbors. They were great!

Job was scheduled for two days, but was completed in one day. When we noticed one small issue with the caulk we called them and they came out to fix it without any complaint. Before we hired them we had several estimates done. Of all the contractors, Dan did the best job explaining why the leak occurred, the details and options of how to fix it, and never tried to pressure us into doing more work than we asked for. Overall, we're really happy with the work, would use them again, and would recommend them to anyone looking to remodel a bathroom.

Work was done on time and the technician was professional at all times. The work was good, the materials were top quality, and, overall, we were well satisfied.

Everything was good. Worked with my schedule and his. Good work, explained things. Pride in his work. Office help excellent, returning calls and answering questions.

FABULOUSLY! Dan Updike's advice and suggestions were always perfect and both bathrooms are beyond belief compared to what eas previously there.

Met with Dan Updike and Sherry. Received original quote. they kept us informed. Installers were prompt, professional and courteous and did top quality work through to completion.

Dan was quick to respond to everything we requested. He was very thorough and detailed. We asked two other contractors for their input as well, and we decided to go with another firm. However, I'd have Updike Bathroom Remodeling to do a project without hesitation.

Richard and Adam were great to work with. Good attention to detail and very responsive. Checked in periodically to make sure details matched the design. Paid more than initially budgeted, but good quality work made it worthwhile.

All done in three days "great." Grout Solutions did the rest of tile in six hours. Great job.

The workers that showed up were on time, quiet, polite, very professional. They took care to keep front door closed even though it was an inconvenience for them. When they were there working, they were very efficient and polite. They even pulled up exactly on time! This crew was without a doubt the best we have had in our 27 years of being a home owner. Everything looks beautiful in the newly remodeled bathroom! Top quality products, too.

It went great. They responded immediately to my initial call and came to the house to get the information on what I wanted done. Got the estimate back within a couple of days. Once we had chosen them they dropped off samples for us to make our choices. Throughout the entire time I was in contact continually with their office. The day the job started he was here on time, very courteous and did a great job. He came back on the second day to complete and was running a little late because of the traffic so he called me from the road and told me he would be here within 15 minutes. The shower stall looks beautiful and is working great for my handicapped mother. I would certainly recommend them and would use their services again.

Jeremy, installer from Updike Bathroom Remodeling, was punctual, polite and efficient. The job was completed to our satisfaction in less time than estimated/anticipated. We would recommend them.

Over all it was great workers friendly and polite. Finished product is excellent. They corrected any little flaws. Only set back was a mistake in tile ordering that cost at least a week of time.

Jeremy was on time, kind courteous, cleaned up afterward. He treated me and my home with respect. I would ask for him again on another job.

Took longer than we had originally expected, but when the installers arrived we were informed that it would take 4 days. Installers were neat, courteous and professional. We are pleased with the finished product.

The work started on the date and finished on the dates scheduled by the company. The work crew were polite and friendly, worked very professionally. They cleaned up each day and were responsive to all our requests. Subcontracted drywall crew was a bit more messy (did not put down drop cloths on our stairs and adjoining bedroom carpet.) We did an accent with glass tile in the shower and the tiler worked with me on site to determine which was the best way to lay that tile, and together we made good choices... very happy with final look. Overall, the work turned out very well and we are very happy with it. Dan Updike was very helpful and patient as we picked out the materials for the job and helped steer us to choices within our budget. Updike seems to use a limited number of suppliers, so we did use formed sinks/countertop (given more choice up front I would probably have picked out porcelain sinks, but I am happy with what we got.) My only complaint was that Updike does not paint! Dan made this clear up front, so I knew what to expect. Unfortunately, this meant that I had to do that after the work crew finished. I would have preferred to have had a couple of days built into their schedule for painting before all the new fixtures went in (would have saved me a lot of taping time!). The crew did work around letting me paint behind the toilet area before reinstalling the seat. So, an inconvenience more than a problem. I don't really have any comparison on cost. I chose Updike for the job because Dan responded promptly to my inquiry, showed up when he said for the estimate and was very responsive to all my questions. I had confidence early in the relationship with Updike that they would follow through. I work and do not have time to chase down contractors to do what they say they will do, so I did not get other estimates (other contractors never responded).

They were pretty good, the guy came out, showed me the product, and provided me with an estimate within a timely manner. I haven't gone through with the job yet, because I had other work come up.I liked that he brought the material so that I could see it, and he brought pictures of his previous work, and he was good, he did measurements as well. He was in the price range he should be. He may be slightly higher than others, but not too much.

Went great. Very responsive and patient - it was our first remodel. The owner walked us through everything. Lots of choices for materials. Provided us with many samples. The only things they don't offer to provide are light fixtures, tile and painting. But they did give us suggestions for tile people and painters to work with. The price might seem high, but we did put in a really nice jet tub and went with some of the more expensive materials. Had we chosen others, our price would have been much lower. The installers were wonderful! Very polite and helpful. Would definitely use Updike again.
