Our Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator stopped cooling in the freezer section and cooled too much in the refrigerator section. After an unsatisfactory experience with Sears service I contacted Turner, on the recommendation of some friends. Matt came out the next day and found that the defrost thermostat for the freezer had failed. He had to order a replacement thermostat because the design of the unit precluded using a universal thermostat. Because we had turned off the refrigerator the ice that kept it from operating correctly had melted. Matt advised that the unit would work until the coils iced up again, but there was no problem because the defrost thermostat came in and was replaced in time. Refrigerator works fine now.
Description of Work: Replaced the defrost thermostat on a Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator.

Our fridge wasn't staying cool. The technician came out and fixed the problem (the hose had a hole in it) when he fixed it he let me know it might break again as Samsung fridges have been having this issue. He let us know that if it broke within a certain time frame they would put the service cost toward the cost of a new fridge which ended up being the case. We ordered a new fridge from them and they credited the service call toward the cost. The technician was very friendly, my son wanted to watch him fox the fridge and he was entertaining him as he was repairing it. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who has an appliance issue.

Determined that there was a faulty thermostat. Decided at the parts cost of $200 that it was better to just replace the dryer.

Had a leak in refrigerator water line. I hired Turner appliances to replace refrigerator water line. Instead of replacing the entire water line, provider cut the water line where the leak was and installed a new fitting and connected refrigerator water line to the line from the house water supply. After work completion I contacted provider via email and phone about this and provider never bothered to respond. I did not pursue this further as refrigerator was functioning even though it was not fixed the way I asked for and what I paid for. About year later fitting on the refrigerator water line which was installed by Turner appliances came apart flooding the kitchen floor. I contacted Turner appliances several times about this issue and fix. I simply wanted turner to provide what I paid for. After several phone calls and emails Rick, the owner left me a voice mail about month a go stating that he has ordered a new tube for replacement. Since then I have contacted them several times via email and telephone about status of the tube but they have not bothered to respond to my email and on phone they keep telling me part is not in and they will schedule work when part comes in. If you want professional, quality, punctual service, turner is definitely not the one. Follow up to Provider's Response on Mar 09,2015: Scope of work was to replace the water line in first place not cut the line and install incompatible fitting. This is the short cut Turner took. Installation of incompatible fitting caused line to come apart flooding my kitchen. Despite my multiple phone calls and emails you never bothered to talked to me once. It is not very difficult to communicate with your customer informing part is on back order. Even when you came to install new line after weeks of delay you did not have a proper fitting to replace the incompatible fitting. This caused even further delay. All of this leads me to believe that you did not want to fix the problem and you only responded to me after I left a review here on the Angie's list.

We were out the first time for a leak in August of 2013. He had a crack in the plastic line so we cut and repaired it. He keeps saying he wants done what he paid for, that is exactly what he got. He paid for the service charge and labor for the repair that was it, no parts were needed. If we would have changed the whole line then there would be a charge for parts. We did explain to him we were going to change the whole line this time because of other spots that were bad on the same line. This could be from a hard water problem, even if you have a softener. We ordered the line and yes it took a while to get because of it being on a factory back order, and being an overseas product slowed it down even more. The part came in and we fixed it right away at no charge when he should have at least paid for the part. Thanks, Rick.

Response to provider response: Washer was a Samsung washer, took apart washer read part number off of existing part, part number on the part was DC34-00024B, found part new in box on SamsungParts.com, not ebay not used, etc. Did search on internet for part number and found the website, who is an authorized distributor of samsung parts and accessories. Would suggest provider establishes relationships with more parts suppliers that carry the parts if cant get the part locally.
Description of Work: Said needed new front loader washer because door latch was broke and nobody sold parts for it anymore even though washer was only three years old. I took apart washer, got part number, found new part on internet for $45 and fixed it myself. Same thing with a dryer and circuit board about a year earlier, said couldn't get the part and needed new dryer. Again found part on internet and repaired myself

Upon reading this review I wanted to see if this part he needed really was NLA, (no longer available). If we dropped the ball somehow I would definitely refund the service charge. The part needed is the door lock #dc97-16899a. I checked with my distributor's here in town and out of town and every one of them said it is NLA. We go through all the major part companies in the country. If he did get that part somewhere I believe it would have to be on ebay or somewhere used. We only buy new and from the manufacturer and this part is not available from the manufacturer. We wouldn't be in business to long if we told customer's we couldn't get part's and didn't fix anything. Thanks, Rick.

It was a very positive experience. They were professional. They took the time to explain and kind of give me my options and they were honest about what they would have done, had it been their washing machine. They were on time. When I called someone picks up right away and schedule my appointment. The guy that came out was very very nice as well.
Description of Work: For appliance repair I went with Turner Appliance. They were here in July of last year and look at my washing machine and fix what was wrong with it and they charged me $50 for the diagnostics and I did end up getting a repair through them.

I had Turner out again for the same dishwasher leak. The service call took quite awhile, as the tech tried to find the problem. Part of it was (again) the fill hose, which he tightened once more. But the other problem turned out to be the dishwasher door seal, which was malfunctioning due to an accumulation of lime. That had to be cleaned out, and he explained that I should run two cups of CLR through the dishwasher at least twice a year. In any case, I was only charged for the service call this time, so I am happy.

My GE washer wouldn't execute a spin cycle. I called Turner Appliance, and they sent someone out on a Saturday afternoon, for which I was thankful. The technician told me the clutch, the pin that holds the clutch, and the belt were all in need of replacement, and that the clutch and pin were no longer manufactured. I asked if there were any other options; he replied that there weren't. "So I have to scrap it and get a new one?" "Yeah." I emailed GE and asked if this was true... that I really have no choice but to scrap the washer. They responded today, not 48 hours later, verbatim: "I am happy to help. The clutch assembly WH5X253 has been superceded to WH5X256. This part is available. The belt, WH1X2026, is also available." I also emailed three other providers, informing them of my experience with Turner Appliance. They all responded within 24 hours, letting me know that my specific needed parts are available immediately on the secondary market. So, yeah. When it comes to Turner Appliance, be like Bob Seger... turn the page.

Hi [name removed], once in awhile we drop the ball, and this is one of those once in awhile's. Our technician Chris cataloged the part and it does come up "no longer available". What he failed to do was look in the next column to see it was superseded by another number, which is still available, completely our fault. I did contact our customer and let him know I would fix the machine for a great price, sell him another at 50% off or refund the money he paid us for the service call, he took the latter. As any business owner knows, most employee's don't work as hard as the owner's do and I suspect he was just being a little lazy possibly. Like Bob Seger say's, maybe it's time for me to get back "ON THE ROAD AGAIN".

Last August 28, 2014, the Turner repairman examined my leaking dishwasher and said the water pressure was pushing the hose off the inlet valve. He demonstrated the problem. He set the water pressure down slightly, and then used a zip tie to lock the hose in place. I thought this not a terribly reliable way to clamp the hose in place, but what do I know about dishwashers? It seemed to work. On January 31, 2015 what I am assuming is the same problem occurred again. I ran the dishwasher, stepped onto my (brand new) kitchen rug to empty it a few hours later, and the rug was swimming in water in exactly the same spot as previously. (I'm aware that this could be a different leak, but it seems very odd that it would leak again for a different reason in exactly the same spot.) I just called Turner Appliance and it was explained to me that there is only a 30-day warranty on the actual repair service, so I will now be out another $60 for a second repair call, in addition to any parts. If this is the same problem, then I don't believe the original repair was done properly. So I am having them come out again tomorrow, and I'm waiting to find out if this leak is actually being caused by the same problem -- if that zip tie didn't clamp the hose in place properly. If it is, well, I am not going to be very happy at all, especially due to my ruined brand-new rug. I called Turner again only because they had done the original repair promptly and I thought they would stand behind their repair. I am very disappointed. If this leak is due to the same problem, I doubt I will ever call them again, if only because they will only stand by their repairs for 30 days.

I believe I would wait to file a complaint until I found out exactly why my dishwasher was leaking again and if in fact it was the same problem before I throw someone under the bus. He did state that he "ASSUMED" it was the zip tie that we installed causing the leak again. We all know what happens when we "assume". The zip tie, he claimed, was put on the inlet valve, which made me a little nervous seeing you should never do that on a pressured water line. When our tech. Chris went out there he sent me a picture of where he used the zip tie and it was on the water aerator not the water inlet valve. The aerator is not a pressure holding line. Chris added the zip tie just so they wouldn't have any problems, the factory doesn't put any type of clamp or tie on the aerator. We stand behind our work 100%, yes the service charge has a 30 day warranty on it which is pretty much standard in the industry We warranty our part's for 3 years, the best warranty you will find in the city! If that zip tie would have caused his leak again we would not have charged him a penny and we also would replace his rug. His problem stemmed from a hard water issue which Chris showed and explained to his wife. Thanks, Rick.

Our Samsung oven wouldn't heat up, and it was off of warranty (1.5 years old). We called several appliance repair shops here in Indianapolis, but Turner's was the only one willing to come the next day and able to fix our Samsung (other shops either couldn't come or couldn't fix our brand). Cody showed up, immediately diagnosed the problem as a broken igniter, and then told me the full price - 227 - for service charge (60), service time (80), and materials (91). He installed it and it works again!

Our front-loading washer stopped with a tE error and would not start again. After I did some basic troubleshooting myself, I called Turner. Jeff was onsite the next day. There ended up being three visits for this repair, ordering expensive parts in between. I am an IT person and very familiar with the troubleshooting process and cannot fault Jeff for the process taking a while. The solution ended up being to replace the wiring harness for the entire washer. I paid for the part that fixed the problem and was not charged for the rest. Jeff was polite and professional the whole time, even amidst a very frustrating problem. I would hire this company again in a heartbeat. I was not charged for anything or any time trying things that did not work. The labor was only $130 in the end. In addition, I always received a call 10-15 minutes before he showed up and it was within the 2-hour window given by dispatch.

Chris came out during the scheduled time frame they gave me for the service call. He immediately got to work, and found some junky build up theta was preventing the water from getting through. He then asked me what type of dishwasher detergent I used. I showed him the Cascade power balls that had promised great results. He then asked if I had a water softener. When I said yes, Chris shook his head, and advised me to switch to a powder dishwasher detergent - and cautioned me to use about half of what I typically use. This guy knows his stuff! Evidently, using those power ball things is not a great idea if you have a water softener. Chris ran my dishwasher for about half a cycle, then opened the machine, and showed me all the soap left in the bottom. He advised that I first had to get rid of all the excess soap before I could get the machine to deliver clean dishes. He took the time to give me very clear directions on how to clean my machine. Once done, he assured me that my dishwasher would work just fine. I haven't done those steps yet, and will write an update if there's a problem. I was dreading having to get a new dishwasher, and was so relieved when I heard that white vinegar and CLR will save my current machine.
Description of Work: After about 15 years of faithful service, my Bosch dishwasher began to not get my dishes clean. Sandy sludge was left in the cups and glasses, and a white film was showing up on many of the dishes. Though I was going to have to replace it.

I called Turner appliance for a repair for my stove and washer on a Saturday and could send someone out on Monday. The lady I spoke to on the phone was very nice and told me it was a $60 service call. I asked if I had to pay another service call when he came back to repair. She said no. Danny came out on Monday and diagnosed my stove and looked at my washer. Washer wouldn't repeat problem. He ordered the part and came back out the next day to install. The part was $179 from Turner plus another $80 for service time. I looked the part up on line and it was significantly less on line. Turner must have a mark up on the part. In addition, I was kind of annoyed that the scheduler said they don't charge for the service call to come back out for install. Instead, they charged me $80 for service "time". Danny was only here for 15 minutes installing! To me, this seems like a sneaky way to recoup the money for the service call. Turner Appliance service was outstanding, however I feel like I was overcharged. I did call another appliance repair company after the fact and would have saved $35-$95 with them for the same service.

Thank you for the the "A" rating and great review, however I would like to clarify a few things. The girl you spoke with is correct, we never charge a second service call if we don't have the part on the truck. The "service time" which is $80 is the labor for that particular repair. The $60 is the service charge for getting our tech to your home and diagnose your problem, any part's, tax and labor is on top of that if needed. We are not sneaking any extra's in on anyone as all our customer's are told the total price, part's, tax, labor and service charge before we begin any work. You would pay the exact same price even if we had the part on the truck. There are never any add ons over what we quote for the repair. Yes we like any other company mark our part's up. We have to pay someone to order all our part's everyday, we have to pay shipping and or spend money on gas to pick them up. Yes you normally can find your own part's cheaper but you do have to know what you need first. That is why we are out there, knowledge, you pay for our knowledge. We also give a 3 year warranty on all our part's we install, you will not find a better warranty like this from any other company. You may find it cheaper, but remember you get what you pay for. I can't tell you how many call's we get from customer's that went with a company because they were cheaper or had some ridiculous gimmick. When the problem was supposedly fixed and it didn't work they could never get them to come back and honor their warranty. I hope this clears up a little confusion I think you may have had about our company. We do pride ourselves on the service we provide and the honesty in which we operate. We will be here if you need us, thanks, Rick.

I can't believe how outstanding these folks are. They are the epitome of quality service. Initially they charged me a service fee, but the problem was more complicated than initially anticipated. They have continued to to attempt to diagnose, and repair, the problem. Multiple times they have come out, promptly, yet, no additional service fee. The final diagnosis? Wiring in the door, too expensive to fix. So why the rave review? They are replacing all the new parts with the old, working parts, and giving us a credit. This is outstanding. I can not believe the quality of service these folks provide, and I can not recommend them highly enough.
