Paid them to install new water heater 2134.00 started smelling gas. They sent someone that smelled it and replaced line. Didn’t fix problem smell gas off and on for week. Sent some out said there is no smell and that there was no problem. There was a smell and there was a problem I had to pay to have it removed and a new one installed for the safety of my 98 year old mom and 90 year old dad. They had to eat that money because summers refused refund Don’t lose your money and put your family at risk Do not us summers for anything

Summers is interested in pushing sales, not extending the life of your current equpiment. I've used summers for plumbing issues a handful of times to auger clogged pipes, replace faucets, etc. The plumbing side has always been prompt and does a good job. The cost however is always higher than other reputable locations. The HVAC side is a different story... There has been three seperate occasions where a simple part or motor replacement was needed on an AC unit or the furnace and they just push to replace everything for 10,000+ dollars. They sell you on great financing options, and when you get the final paperwork its always way more than they stated when they are pushing the sale. I have 750+ credit so its not like things went higher because of financial risk. On one occasion I asked them to come out to diagnose and REPAIR what was wrong with the AC. Air flow very low, burning smell, when AC was turned on. I'm not an HVAC expert, but was pretty certian it was a blower motor gone bad. The man looked at the age of the furnace and AC unit which is on the older side but still has plenty of life left, and said everything had to be replaced. After going though the cost options, I asked what was wrong, he didnt have an answer, becasue he didnt bother to do what we called and asked for. At this point, I humored the quote process but was skeptical. I asked him to tell me what was wrong with the AC, and came back with a blower motor failure. I asked what it would cost to replace the blower motor. Tyhey wanted like a grand and said they couldnt get the part for about a week. I asked when they could do the replacement of the furnace and AC. Theysaid they could come the very next day... I told him I would let them know and get back to them. I went online and got a new blower motor for ~$200 after adding next day delivery, and fixed the issue in about 1 hour.
Description of Work: Blower motor replacement.

TL;DR - Friendly demeanor, ill intentions. Be very aware of what you are signing up for. Had a Service visit to my home yesterday for an AC/HVAC inspection and repair. First time Homeowner and learning the ins and outs of maintenance for the appliances. The unit had not been cooling the house like it should and is continuing to get worse. I know very little about AC/Heating cooling systems, so figured I'd give the professionals a call. Initially the whole process was wonderful! 24Hour Service, the Technician, Eric R., Arrived at my house around 8:37pm. Extremely friendly and Informative. Checked both the inside and outdoor units. Took the panel off inside and walked me through how the machine works and why it wasn't preforming like it should. Apparently the last owner did not take very good care of it via filters, maintenance, and routine cleanings so there was an excessive amount of build up inside of the HVAC, hindering it from circulating air throughout the house. The unit is 8 Years old, and I was told I would need a new one. The Technician quoted me a brand new one at $13770 with a lifetime warranty and stated that the company has great finance options, and I could have the new unit installed as early as Tuesday with a low payment of $120 a month. I told him that was very manageable, and I would give my family a call and get back with him ASAP. We shook hands and he left. I went over the breakdown with my family of what was going on, the information I was given, what it all would cost, and stated that Eric seemed very endearing, and I truly felt he had our best interest at heart, and we agreed that we would go ahead with the new install and that it would be a great investment for the house. I called Eric back that night and scheduled him to come back the next day (Today) for the financial consultation and to schedule the installation as soon as we could to get the house comfortable again. The visit was Scheduled for 2pm and he arrived at 3:15 because of other services visits that he was taking care of, which is completely understandable. When he arrived, he was just a friendly as ever. I thanked him for his time and his service, and we began the discussion of what it all would cost and when his team could make it out for the installation. He stated that it could be done as soon as tomorrow morning. I told him that was wonderful and that I would reschedule my patients for the next day. I then gave him a business card for my family's Dental practice and stated that if him or his family needed anything we would love to help. He smiled and then handed me paperwork to get the loan process started. This is where it takes a turn for the worse. I then began asking questions to how long the loan would be and what interest rates I would be paying. He told me that I would have 0% interest for 120 months (10 years) at a fixed rate! I thought that was incredible but seemed a bit odd. I filled out the form and handed it back to him. He used an app on his phone to get the loan process started and told me that I would be receiving an email with the details shortly. We both sat down as I waited. While we were waiting (the email took 10 or so mins to arrive) he said, "Man, I couldn't get you the 0% interest rate, that's only for the 60-month plan. If you still want to do the 120 months, it will be at 6.99%. (Which I saw on his summary report he had left the night before in small writing and was confused with the information that he was presenting me today. I said, Okay.. How much more would that be? He then pulled out his phone calculator and did the math and presented the results to me at around $980 (I do not remember the exact number), I told him that would be no big deal and we continued to wait for the email from the Lender company to arrive. He then started offering deductions and perks for the service. He said he was going to waive my service fee from last night. Said he would give me a two-year maintenance plan for the new unit "Free of Charge!" I told him how thankful I was for that, but the whole process began to feel not right. The email from the lender company, Greensky Consumer Reports, finally arrived and I began to read the agreement of what I truly was signing up for. The first thing I noticed was the loan was for $15000. When I questioned Eric about it, he said that's what I qualified for at my credit score (760+) and that I could use the extra money for the Vent cleaning we had talked about last night! The second thing I noticed was the monthly payment would be $167.11 if I used $14399 and $174.09 a month if I used the full $15000 for the loan, not $120 that I was told multiple times, and I would also have to use the loan amount within the first 6 months of service. When I questioned Eric about it, he said, "What?? That's for the 120 months?? and just went silent. The third and final thing I noticed, was that with the interest compounding over 10 years the final loan amount would be for $20053.20, an extra $5654.20 in interest and not the " Just $980 extra!" that he had shown me from his phone. When I questioned Eric about it, he literally said, "What? Are you sure that's not just a "generic" price you're reading? I stated, No. This is the loan you are offering me and what it says. He went silent. The whole house felt so uncomfortable. He didn't say anything for minutes. I continued to read and looking for any other disclaimers that I could be missing, and he eventually said, "Sir, I must have calculated that wrong." I told him that I would have been okay with the original price that you told me, but what you are really offering is almost over 6k more and then thanked him for his time and service and I would be getting a second opinion from somewhere else. He then had the nerve to say, "Are you sure? Are you sure you don't want to do the 60month at 0%?" I said No, thanked him for his time and service again, then asked him to leave. It felt so uncomfortable waiting for that door to shut. I understand these guy's work so hard, especially with the heat we have been experiencing lately. I know they are trying to take care of themselves and their families as well. But, please.. Just be honest and upfront with your Customers. Went from such a great experience, banter, and hope for a cooler/comfortable home again, to a very uncomfortable and feeling like I was being taken advantage of situation. As a first time Homeowner, this is the first encounter I have had like this. My house is still so hot and I am nowhere closer to a solution. I will be cancelling my yearly membership with "Summer's Heating and Cooling" ($159 a year to get the 24/7 service calls btw.) and taking my business elsewhere. Nothing of what I was being told was the truth. BE AWARE! READ YOUR AGREEMENTS before you sign anything! -James

I am on a maintenance contract. The response time was great. The technician arrived but failed to diagnose a problem, instead he used this as an opportunity to speak disparagingly about my unit, repeatedly saying "this old unit." (My unit is not even 1 year out of warranty.) This gave rise to believe that something was amiss, and that was verified later. Their technician merely told me "repair not recommended." He did not identify the problem or cost of repair. He promised someone would call me within hours regarding replacement. That did not happen. I called another company for a second opinion. The other company quickly diagnosed the problem and even had my unit cooling in less than 30 minutes from arrival! The problem was a part gone bad. The second repairman noticed that the caps on the Freon lines were left off of the lines by Summers. That is negligent and shows a lack of care by Summers. The second repairman also advised me that there was NO NEED to access the Freon lines based on the nature of my trouble and the problem code generated. He stated that by accessing my lines, Summers merely discharged a small amount of Freon, which if done multiple times, would require me to purchase more Freon. (Thus creating another expensive service call.) I lost trust in Summers.

I heat my house with radiant heat, which requires a boiler system. My pilot light kept going out, so I called Summers Plumbing Heating & Cooling to determine the problem. I specifically advised them that I have a boiler system, since I found out that not too many technicians are familiar with radiant heat, so they sent out the manager, Steve. He told me that there are only 2 people in the company who are familiar with my type of heating system…him and another tech. Steve told me that I would receive discounted pricing for the repair, if I signed up for their “safety comfort agreement”, for a price of $159.00. My discounted price for a new pressure gauge was $168.00. Steve told me that my system did not have a PRV, and required one. I asked how my system worked for 18 years without one, and was told "I don't know". The discounted price for a PRV was $135.00. (BTW, my system did have a PRV). I was quoted a discounted price of $361.00 for a broken aqua stat. (BTW, my aqua stat was not broke) In addition to other discounted services, the total cost to fix my boiler was $1560.00. My system has a manifold with 8 gate valves. Steve told me that they were frozen shut and suggested I replace them with quarter turn valves. He quoted me a separate bill for this service. After Summers Plumbing Heating & Cooling provided me with the quote, I did some research on how a boiler system works and asked a couple of HVAC guys, who I work with, to review the service that Summers was going to provide to fix my boiler. They explained a couple of things to me and thought I was being ripped off. I have learned that the only way to determine that the aqua stat was broke, was to replace the broken pressure gauge. I called another company for a quote. They ended up repairing my boiler for $329.00. They installed a new pressure gauge, which only ended up costing me a little over $20.00, and said my aqua stat was working just fine. And, this tech was able to open my "frozen" gate valves with no problem. I called Summers Plumbing Heating & Cooling on Mar 2, to ask who I could talk to about filing a complaint. I wanted a few questions answered, such as, how did Steve determine my aqua stat was broke. Why was I told my boiler system did not have a PRV, when in fact is does? The receptionist took my information and said she would give Steve the message to call me. This has not happened. How is this not fraud? How much money has Summers Plumbing Heating & Cooling successfully scammed from people?

So far very well! They are always willing to help, are very timely, and the cost is reasonable for the work. They have been to my house about 6 times, fixing/repairing items. They offer suggestions and recommendations. They also take photos to support their recommendations. Some recommendations I have completed, some I have not. All and all, I like them - A LOT. Highly recommend them.

The checkup cost nothing, it was part of the deal when they installed the heating system. We’re not on a contract, they just did it because we bought their heating. They got everything in, everything out and cleaned up after themselves. We picked them, so they were really great on price. We did comparison shopping. For quality – I was warm all winter, so that’s the only thing I can tell you, it worked really fine. They’re just really a great company. They did everything we asked them to right on time. We said, “what about Tuesdays?” They said, “what about 10:00?” We said, “Good!” They were there at 10:00.

The cost was also because I purchased a service agreement. That was $159. They're doing dozens of homes for us, so I think that our actual maintenance plan is a little less that, but I think that might be their standard service agreement. The thermostat was kind of pricey, $166. The coolant was $237. So far, they have done several jobs for me. For price, and I'm being fair across the board, I'm talking about the "Big Boys". Most everyone does things by the book. They do book charges (and by the way, you will probably learn a little more from a property manager, i.e. me. than the average person because they just do it once every so often here and there) but I would probably give them a "B". The only reason that I'm giving them a "B" is because there are contractors there who don't strictly go off of a book price and you can get better pricing, but their ability to answer a service call at 10:00 at night like he did is much more limited. I wasn't personally there, but I have done this hundreds of times. I would give him an "A" for quality. He checked everything out. I asked him about numbers, he probably wasn't expecting that. For me to ask him about resistance values and stuff in the unit and different parts of the unit to check that he actually checked and he had all those numbers for me. They're always on time as far as any job I have ever had them do. And for this job too, this was an after hours job. I was able to get a hold of the company, the guy called me literally within 15 minutes and he was at the job site within about 3 hours because he had 2 other emergency after-hour calls. So, punctuality? It was as good as it could possibly get. He knew what he was talking about. He was very professional on the phone, my tenant said that he wore the little booties. I don't like paying the higher rates, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

These items were documented during a home inspection and due to the selling of the house we needed a certified plumber to fix these items and document it for the buyers. I contacted Summers Plumbing because they were located in Brownsburg where the home is located. Nick arrived early and was very professional, he checked the items we needed service on and even found one of them did not need any repair at all and documented that for our buyers, and he fixed the outside faucet in about a minute. When he checked the leak in the kitchen he told me that the garbage disposal was causing the leak and we needed to replace it. When I ask what that would cost to replace he stated he needed to write up his services and he would check on the price to replace the disposal. When he returned the cost for him to replace this residential disposal was going to be $587.00. He stated he only had a 3/4 hp unit on his truck and that would be the cost. Usually in a normal home a 1/3 hp disposal is all one needs which cost at Lowes $89.00 and a 3/4 hp is currently $144.00, which means the labor cost was going to be $443.00 which should take no more than 1 hour to put one in. If these are the normal prices that Summers Plumbing charges for this service I warn anyone needing a plumber please be aware. The rest of the cost for the service call was $188.00, which included the call out, he checked one toilet no service required, checked for leak with disposal, no service required and put two screws in outside faucet to secure it to the outside wall.

Rather than worrying about servicing the equipment, they sold us new equipment. My daughter was dating a young man who knew heating and air conditioning business. He happened to be down in Indianapolis and we were planning our furnace replaced. He said he would look at it. He looked at it and it needed a $5 part. He said the furnace doesn't need to be replaced. He fixed it and it worked perfectly since. At that point in time, we felt we weren't comfortable using Summer's anymore because their business was to sell equipment and not service the equipment. We stopped using them. I think the price was very high. They wanted to charge us $6500 to replace the furnace. When my husband called them and told them that we didn't want to replace the furnace, they were very upset and angry with us because we were cancelling the work. They were punctual. They were on time.

They replaced the two valves, leading to the water heater, just fine but never returned, when they said they would, to replace the bathtub faucets. When I finally spoke to them they said they would come back out if I paid them another $253 to finally replace the bathtub faucets. I consider their tactics like loan sharks. Description of Work: My furnace quit on the evening of 1/15/2016 and I had to call the emergency line. The man came out that night and didn't have the part needed and neither did his suppliers. They ordered the part but he was able to fix the furnace so that it would run. He came back today 1/18/2016 and installed the correct part at no extra cost to me. He was very professional, courteous clean and knowledgeable. I would definitely call on them again for service.
