After living in our house for 23 years, my wife and I decided it was time to move on to a different phase in our lives. Choosing among our many friends and acquaintances who are real estate agents, we wanted to work with Steve Sergi based on his familiarity with the area in which we were interested in moving. After showing us a variety of houses, Steve honed in on the features in a home that we desired. The end result was a perfect home! Steve's approach to selling our house focused on the preparation before putting the house on the market. Steve's recommendations of skilled professionals used for needed repairs and showing us the art of presenting the home were very helpful. It may have meant more work "up front" but the result was the acceptance of an offer less than 48 hours after the house was put on the market. Steve and his team assisted in all the details leading up the closing of both properties. The service was truly flawless. We are very grateful to Steve and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone in need of a real estate agent.

My wife and I were in need of an agent, as we were relocating to Carmel from the Chicago suburbs. My in-laws knew Steve personally, and gave us his contact. When I reached out to Steve, he was very helpful over the phone. I explained to him that we were very limited on time in finding a house, but would be in contact in the near future to look at some houses. Well, last minute my wife and I decided to make a trip to Indy one weekend in January to look at some houses we had found online. Steve was on vacation, but very accomodating, and I think he may have even hurried back to town so that he could show us some properties, knowing our time crunch. Who does that?! Very impressed... As luck would have it, the weekend we chose to look at houses turned out to be one of the most disasterous in recent Indy history. The average agent would have refused to venture out, considering the horrible road conditions and extremely cold temps. Not Steve! He was well aware that this visit may be our only shot at finding a home to purchase, based on our moving date, the sale of our current home, etc. He bravely took us around to numerous houses that weekend, and at times had to persuasively convince home owners to allow us to see their homes - understandably so, many homeowners didn't want to show their home that weekend for fear of leaving their home with the extreme weather. As a result of I65 closures, our weekend stay was extended a few more days, and during those days Steve graciously took us out to more and more houses. On the last day of our visit, and the last house we looked at, with the expert help of Steve, we made an offer on a house we thought was above our budget. Steve's excellent negotiating skills proved invaluable, and in no time we had an accepted offer! The following weeks went smoothly with Steve's help. Whenever a question or concern arose, Steve calmly and confidently answered or resolved the issue. Before long, we were sitting for closing, and when a concern arose, Steve stepped up and quickly got on the phone to put our worries to rest. This is the type of agent you need! Someone with a wealth of experience and knowledge that knows what to do and how to do it in the event a problem presents itself. As the old adage goes, "A calm sea does not make a skilled sailor", you can tell Steve has the skillset to handle a situation that may (and in all likelihood will) arise. Following the close of our home, Steve followed up to make sure all was going well. And when I've had a question or two, he has been very quick to respond with helpful input. I highly recommend Steve, for his vast knowledge, professionalism, easy-going manner, and responsiveness. We couldn't be happier that my in-laws gave us his contact!

The following are outstanding examples of Steve Sergei's dedication and experience that correctly positioned our home to be sold: 1) Steve toured the house and provided recommendations on selling the home with and without improvements. Based on Steve's recommendation and financial analysis, we decided to improve the home prior to selling it. 2) Steve suggested specific improvements, identified contractors, coordinated the contractors entering the home to provide estimates, and submitted the estimates for our approval. 3) Once the contractors estimates were approved by us, Steve supervised that the work was completed per the agreed upon specification. 4) Following the improvements, Steve recommended cleaning and staging services to finish preparing the home to be sold. Once again, Steve identified experienced companies to perform the services and coordinated all of their activities. 5) After the home was listed, Steve kept us advised of showings and helped us negotiate the sell of the home with the buyer. 6) While the home was being sold, Steve regularly visited the home to shovel the front walk and ensured that everything was operational. Steve was a lifesaver in guiding us through the difficult task of selling a home remotely. He kept us regularly informed about the progress with our house and helped us every step of the way. Steve and Kristina keep buyers and sellers on track at every turn. Reminders and checklists are reliably sent, but the work goes far beyond that. Wherever needed, Steve helped to find us workmen (making tweaks in preparation for sale) and inspection fixes. He coordinated schedules and made the process so easy. All the work was done impeccably, down to setting us up with a staging agent. We had moved out of our previous home prior to selling it, and Steve was terrific at helping with details. A prime example was a day in which we had a couple of showings scheduled, and of course we had a big snow the night before. My husband went over first thing the next morning to shovel the drive -- when he arrived, Steve was just finishing it himself. Steve understands that home sales/purchases are business transactions, but ones rooted in emotion. He really sets the bar high for other realtors, and we will be sending all of our friends his way.
Description of Work: Steve was the listing agent for our previous home, and the listing and selling agent for our new home (both in Indianapolis). Our choice to use Steve as our representative for buying our new home, even though he was already the listing agent, speaks volumes about Steve's integrity and professionalism. He was forthright, not pushy, and very skilled when it came time to negotiate. He knows the northeast side of Indianapolis well, sets realistic and attainable expectations, and is an all-around good guy that was an absolute pleasure.

Steve and his team showcased the home using their website and well as placing the listing on the national Re/Max site. They took the time to walk me through all of the various issues that arise when selling a home. Once the offer was made they went to great lengths to assure that my interest were well taken care of. I will definitely use their services again.

They are very professional and provide real time updates weekly. They also did a very professional job of handling everything. I have been moved many times and Steve is one of the best if not the best.

I thought that I had my house in good shape except for de-cluttering and replacing some carpet. But Steve had many more suggestions to sell quickly and at top dollar. He wanted the wallpaper removed, including paper in the foyer and matching borders in living room, dining room, and two halls. Also he wanted paper in the master bath and border in master bedroom removed. These rooms then needed repainting, although they had been painted already that year. He wanted some ceiling fixtures replaced, drapes in living and dining room removed, and of course the carpet replaced. These decor changes were important, he said, to get rid of the very traditional and flowery decor as houses in my neighborhood were selling to buyers at least 25 years younger than I. Most importantly he said de-cluttering would not work because of the volume of "stuff." ( I had lived there 30 years.) So, I began packing. As soon as I moved out, his workmen began these jobs. When it was all complete and sparkling clean, a stager put some furniture and trim in a few rooms, and we had a spare, contemporary looking home. Of course, these changes were all expensive. But when he finally put the place on the market, we had a firm offer within 24 hours! After a little negotiating the sale was complete at a higher price that I had ever hoped for. So, was it worth it? Yes, completely. I did not have to live there while work was going on, and the speed and price of the sale were very, very good. I recommend Steve to anyone thinking of selling. His knowledge of what buyers want, and his ability to get work done quickly, are invaluable. If I had it to do over, I would not even consider talking to any other realtor!

Description of Work: What a great agent, very knowledgeable. Steve Sergi arranged the makeover of our home. He arranged the painter, plumber, and electrician. He picked out the colors and new fixtures. Everything was on time and completed just as we were told. The closing was a snap. All paperwork was at the closing. We closed as scheduled without any issues. The Sergi Group kept us informed of the decorating changes, showings and the closing details. The Sergi Group is by far the best I have experienced. I have purchased and sold 6 homes.

When my wife and I purchased our first home we found ourselves impressed by the sellers agent. The circumstances were not ideal with the seller moving into a nursing home half way across the country. The professionalism Sergi Group displayed helped the purchase on the house go more smoothly. When our family outgrew our first home, we new who we were going to enlist to sell and help us find a new one. Steve Sergi did not disappoint. We found the house of our dreams in which Steve helped us get it for a steal. This however created a serious problem, we had to sell our house fast in a down market. Steve wasted no time to get us on the market, assisted with staging and we got the offer we were looking for after the first open house. I highly recommend contracting The Sergi Group to buy or sell your next home, you won't be disappointed.

At our first meeting, Steve helped set up the old home for sale, including suggestions for best furniture placement. He took the pictures himself to post them online. Within a few days he had provided us with market research data of comparable properties, which helped inform the pricing decision, and posted the profile online. Through the process, he worked with us to ensure the home was being showed as much as possible, while ensuring our family life could continue without disruption. As an example, he suggested we could have a next-day advance notice for showings, given that it was not possible to have the home show-ready 24/7. At the same time, we started looking at future homes. Because of changing family circumstances and the state of the market, the search took some time. Steve stayed with us throughout the process, with the same awesome attitude as in the very beginning. He is very professional in his demeanor, and took the time to discuss each of the homes we had seen; to make sure he understood exactly what we were looking for. At the same time, he would present the positives and negatives in each case but never tried to influence the decision one way or another. This was highly appreciated, after having worked with a couple of really aggressive realtors in the past who had really tried to push the sales. By the time we found a buyer for the first home, we had not found one to move to yet, and the goal was to only move once. Steve then helped us successfully negotiate with the new owners to allow us to stay in our old home, now renting it in a month-by-month basis, until we found a new home. Steve was very proactive regarding the search for our new home; he would send us the potential homes to see in the area according to our specifications; we would choose the most interesting ones, and would meet accommodating both our schedules. Through this time, we made offers for 4 different homes: 2 got better offers (1 without a contingency, 1 above asking price), and on 2 we walked away after the inspection showed significant amounts of mold, radon or other non-negotiable issues. At each of these times we had previously discussed with Steve exactly what we wanted in the offers, and he expediently put them together. The fact that he knows the market so well and is a a great communicator who took care of potential issues up front on the contracts, is what allowed us to easily walk away from potential real estate headaches. All negotiations were done online, with minimal disruption to work and family life, since signatures could be sent securely through a smartphone. In one of those cases we even did the counteroffers while hiking in a park! When we started searching, Steve recommended a mortgage loan officer, and after the initial paperwork, he provided pre-approval letters for the offers. The pre-approvals helped expedite the acceptance of the offers; and we ended up following Steve's recommendation and contracting with him for the new mortgage. A few months later we found "THE" home; by then it was summer; sales had accelerated considerably and the pressure was greater since we wanted to move before August. Steve acted really fast; we saw the home and made the offer less than 24 hours after it was posted online for sale. He spoke to the selling agent in person to make sure the offer was acceptable to the owner, and the offer was accepted the next day with no counteroffer. Every step of the way, Steve was available through phone, IM, or email to answer any questions within the day. In the rare cases when he could not be available, his niece Kristina, who works with him, would show us the homes or assist in the transactions. Steve also stayed one step ahead, with reminders of documents to be provided or paperwork to be done towards the purchase. We moved on August 2nd, less than a month after the closing. Even now, he sends reminders of tax paperwork to be completed and follows up with us to see how we are doing in the new home. In summary, it was really a pleasure to work with Steve through the sale of our old home and the purchase of our new home; I would gladly recommend him to anybody needing help with a real estate transaction. If you are looking for somebody knowledgeable, involved, responsive, respectful and professional, please do give him a call.

Steve is the best! I am not sure when he rests or sleeps because he seems like he is always on call to answer every question and concern. He made time to work with us days, nights, weekends and even holidays! He even acted as a counselor to me with the stresses that come with buying and selling houses at the same time, talking me down when I got worried or worked up about everything from the amount and timing of showings to the results of inspections. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and certain about the entire process. You can't go wrong with Steve as your realtor!!
