Spearing & Son Plumbing

Eric (rep) showed up on time, got right to work. Had all of the parts needed and was in and out in 45 minutes replacing the ballcock and shutoff valve. He pulled back the carpet to allow the flooring to dry properly which I thought was beyond the call of duty. Again, the work went off without any problems. It was obvious that he knew what he was doing.

We have used Mr. Spearing and son on several occasions. They are wonderful! They have been prompt, honest in the assessment of the problem(s), and fair in their pricing. The work was performed in a timely manner. We also spoke with them about re-plumbing our bathroom and they offered excellent recommendations. They have been in business a long time and we know why. We will definitely use them again!

I tried to replace a Delta faucet cartridge with a generic Lowe's sold to me. I've done these before and it's usually no more than a minor annoyance. This time, the generic part turned out to be useless. It did not work at all. The old cartridge was leaking badly and I saw no point in re-installing it. I thought of Spearing because of past work they had done for me and others I had referred to them. I thought they might have original Delta parts and I was willing to pay to have it right. Admitting: It was just after 5:00 on a Friday starting a holiday weekend... but the message recorder (typical of plumbing companies) asked me to leave an evening phone number... which I did. Past experience has shown me this usually works when you're talking to a company where the employees are out working and not sitting around the office. I asked for help either during the evening or some time the next day. Waited until noon Saturday... kept thinking I'd hear something... decided to solve the cartridge problem by going to Home Depot and buying a new faucet. Installed it and all is well. Disappointing though. The faucet is cheaper than an hour of Spearing's time, but the hours of work I lost over the issue made it cost me plenty. I was able to solve my own problem, but I worry about the people out there who cannot do certain things themselves and truly rely on various contractors to assist them... no matter the fees. So, I'm posting a report... giving them a "C"... they tell us in school Cs mean average. That's why I chose it. I believe this represents the average plumber and/or contractor working today. Most likely, someone simply dropped the ball... but they dropped it on my foot. Based on the advertised rate, I'm getting my daughter out of dental school so she can study plumbing!

I spent $400 on that work. They are very honest, nice, quiet and fair.

I have used them for decades for a variety of other projects. I consider them extremely trustworthily. A little bulb that drops in my tank wasn?t working correctly. I put some die in the tank to see if it was seeping and sure enough it was. I went ahead and had them replace both of the bulbs. They are extremely meticulous about the whole aspect of the job. Their prices are very competitive and fair. They had to replace one of them twice because the piece was defective and then made sure it had a really tight seal. It didn?t take them that long but he took the time to make sure everything was ok. He even checked the water meater to make sure it wasn't running. Everything turned out great. I feel really comfortable using them for anything and everything. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Referred by family member after basement flooded. Wanted consult on a permanent fix, even though it had only happened twice in 15 years. First plumber I'd called wanted to install a sump pit for $5,000. Kevin and Jack didn't think that would solve anything. Based on my description, they advised better maintenance on my part (gutter cleaning primarily). Installed back flow preventer in floor drain, and re-routed water softener discharge away from the floor drain as it occasionally overflowed the drain. Honest, knowledgeable guys.

We had leaking bathtub faucet and drain. We also had low shower pressure. They made the necessary repairs the most cost effective way. We are very pleased with their prompt professional service.

I don't have any idea about the cost because my husband paid the bill. They were professional and they were on time. They were excellent. The clean-up was excellent.

I have hired the Spearings (father and son) four times. On each occassion, they have returned my calls quickly; have always been punctual, professional and pleasant to work with; and have completed quality work each time. On more than one occassion, they have gone out of their way to make sure I got what I was asking for and offered practical suggestions without imposing them. The costs have always been fair and reasonable. I would recommend them to anyone; and whenever I've mentioned their business, I've always heard positive comments. They have an excellent reputation in the Hancock County area.

Most recently he repaired a variety of minor issues on the new (to me) home that my wife and I just recently purchased.

Someone who lives in an old house like mine recommended them to me. They said they knew a lot about the mysterious plumbing problems that happen in these houses. They have done a good job for me. The last time they were here, the part cost $2.00 and they charged me $120.00. They had done a bigger job for me earlier and they seemed reasonable for the price. I will continue to use them.

Both Mr. Spearing's showed up and worked until the job was done. They communicated with me throughout the process. There was still an issue with the toilet running after they left, but the younger Mr. Spearing returned the day after I contacted him about the issue and rectified it. They did nice work and were reasonably priced. My mother was watching my son during their first visit and said she was so impressed with their work, that she's decided to hire them for her future plumbing needs.

Kevin and his father showed up right on time and completed the work in a very professional and timely manner. They were careful to make sure everything was left spotless. They obviously knew what they were doing and we were very pleased with the overall experience and their professionalism. This was the first time we used this company (we got the name from Angie's List), and we would definitely recommend their services, and will call them again for any plumbing services we need. The price seemed very reasonable, we were actually expecting it to be more.

Received a frantic call while at work that a pipe had burst. I called Kevin and he drove from New Palestine to Geist in a short time. He repaired our pipes and provided increased protection so it wouldn't happen again. He and his Father are the most honest and quality driven contractors I've ever come across. They are simply the best. They have done work for me in the past 2 years. This eval is long overdue. CALL THEM...regardless of where you live.

They are one of 2 people I am comfortable with being in my house while I'm not there. He's as honest as the day is long. They are very thorough. Prices are good.

They do terrific work and they stand behind there work also. They are very responsive to call back.

I have used them in the past they are a great company. I have recommended them to others. They are very professional. I trust them to get the job done right every time. They have come out and fixed mistakes that others have done.

They do such a good job, you can't even tell they were ever here. They even put back the rugs in the bathroom. I trust them completely and recommend them to anyone.

They did not charge me a thing for it. This is so typical of them. I have used them for years. We are on the third generation. They are awesome. He is one of two people that I have used for years that I would give a key to my house to, and that is not me. His prices have always been fair. They have an incredible work ethic. I cannot recommend him highly enough. I was having problems this summer with a silent leak. They were here no less than four times and they only charged me for one visit. After the fourth time they decided to replace the system. Other people told me to replace the toilet, but Jack said they do not make toilets like that anymore.

Kevin was very prompt in getting pricing. Once we made the decision, he had the water heater installed in two days. Pricing much better than ''big guys''. I have used Spearing and Son for 21 years and have always been very satisfied.

Kevin came promptly, evaluated situations and replaced the disposal all in one visit.

First, they did not confirm the appointment & simply showed up. This set off the alarm. Additionally, they did not trouble shoot the problem I asked them to because they did not speak w/me in person to discuss.

They are prompt, professional, and clean. I would feel comfortable leaving them with a key. As a matter of fact, I have on occasion.

Father and son worked together. They are very knowledgeable and willing to share their knowledge. It is obvious they take pride in their work. They make sure to clean as they work. I am not a great judge of price, but I would definitely call them again. They are nice people.

I left a message on the answering machine, and Kevin Spearing returned my call the next day. He was pleasant and polite, and willing to find the type of water heater I requested. Because he had other jobs and it was Friday when I spoke to him, he came on Monday. We set an approximate time dependent on earlier jobs that morning. He came within an hour of the time. He and his father didn't appear to mind my watching as they did the work. Kevin cleaned up afterward, even though I said I would do it. I consider their price reasonable and would call them again. They have a three-generation business, and know what they are doing.
