Needed HVAC and duct work done, in response to an inspection report, for a real estate transaction. Everything went fine when ordered and scheduled, but they never showed up. Had to call back and argue with them to get the service we ordered.

Airtron was on time and very professional. After installation the entire new system was tested and checked for any problems. Before the techs left the explained the new system and it's operation. The team also cleaned up all areas before leaving. Very thorough!

The technician came on time. I am a property manager, and the owner of this home has been using Airtron for many years. She always buys the 2-service package each year (one a/c tuneup and one for the furnace.) The service man said a charge of refrigerant was needed. I called the owner, who was on vacation visiting family. She gave me the OK for them to proceed. The technician called the Airtron office and they wouldn't call the owner to get her credit card. They said it must be paid for today, so I went ahead and paid for it. I can't believe a company wouldn't accommodate a long-time customer (the owner.) This kind of shoddiness is why I work with Chapman. They go out of their way to do anything possible for their customers and I never have had a payment "problem" with them. This is why I refer any new business that comes my way to Chapman. I know that there are better companies to work with than Airtron.

Airtron installed the brand-new HVAC unit about 22 months ago. We did not buy a cheap budget model, and we spent a lot of time getting quotes from multiple companies before deciding upon Airtron. We ultimately went with Airtron because of the fantastic Angie’s List reviews that we read. We trusted Airtron would sell us a quality product and provide excellent customer service. Two weeks ago, while on vacation, I got an email notification from our thermostat that our A/C unit was not working. I had a neighbor verify this, and I then called to schedule an appointment Airtron. I was very surprised to learn that I would be charged nearly $80 for a diagnosis of the problem. Typically, I would understand this fee since an inspection was being rendered; however, the unit was so new and purchased from Airtron. So, of course, I was taken aback when I was told we would be charged this fee to have the issue diagnosed. I felt Airtron should have offered to count the diagnostic fee towards the repairs that we ultimately needed- this seems like a fair and normal business practice that many other companies follow. On the phone, an Airtron customer service representatives detailed a package that cost $159, which would include a diagnostic visit, get 15% off labor if needed, and provide an additional tune-up later this year. After weighing the options, we went this route. When the technician came to our house, he was asked to use our provided garage code to enter the home since we were still in Georgia. I was told several times that the technician would alert us when he was in route to our house. We talked with our neighbor, who had agreed to meet the technician for the visit. The window of arrival time was 8 am-noon. At noon, I had not heard anything from the technician, so I called to see when the technician was coming. We had our neighbor waiting at her home to help us with this process. To my surprise, I was told that the technician was already in our house. We had not received a phone call about him arriving. I felt this was incredibly unprofessional. When I talked with the technician on the phone, he informed me that a motor needed to be replaced and this part needed to be ordered. He told me this was a major part that was very expensive (he said the part alone was $1200). I was shocked- why are we needing to replace a $1200 part on a unit less than two years old?! Then, he proceeded to tell me that the replacement would cost nearly $400 for labor, which I found absolutely ridiculous. The part was under warranty, so we had assumed a small labor fee would be paid out of pocket. I never imagined that I would have to pay nearly $400 in labor alone to fix a part on a unit less than two years old. This fee was in addition to the $159 we’d already paid. When I asked the technician why he felt the motor had broken, he stated that he didn’t know but the filter was dirty. I instantly knew this was a cliché, fallback response since we change our filters regularly AND receive notifications from our thermostat when they need to be changed. Regardless, I begrudgingly approved this fix. I was told Airton ordered the part and it would arrive and be installed on Friday. Because we were on vacation, my husband felt very uncomfortable with people entering our home without warning or giving us notice, so he ultimately decided to leave our family vacation early and fly home. He was originally scheduled to come home with us on Saturday, but because he felt alarmed by this whole process, he spent over $100 to catch an earlier flight Thursday evening so he would be able to meet the technician on Friday when the new part was being installed. Friday rolled around. My husband, after flying home early from our family vacation, spent the entire day waiting to hear from the technicians. We made a couple of calls inquiring about the repair status because we hadn’t heard anything by 10:30. We eventually received a call shortly before noon telling us the part had arrived and the technician would arrive between 12-5 pm. At 4:30, we had not heard anything from anyone, so of course, we made an additional call to see if someone was actually coming. We then received a call at 4:45 that the technician was running late and would be there in 30-40 minutes. He ultimately arrived late at about 5:20, past the 5 hour window of time my husband waited for him to arrive. When the technician finally began to do the repair, he then informed my husband that the wrong part had been ordered and that the technician who made the mistake was (ironically, given my husband’s shortened trip) in “vacation mode.” We feel bad for him since he was just the messenger (in the whole process, he was the person that was the best to deal with). So, after leaving our family vacation early, waiting all day with little communication, and a late arrival of the technician, we were told the repair couldn’t be made until a later, unknown time. A few hours later, they arrived with the correct part and repaired the A/C. They reduced our bill only $50 after all of these mishaps. In the last two years, we have purchased a furnace for our old home and a new HVAC system for our current home from Airtron, which has totaled over $10,500 in business. Additionally, we have referred many friends to Airtron. However, from the start of this interaction, I felt like we were treated poorly. I do not think we should have had to pay a diagnostic fee to begin with, but I ultimately looked past this. In my mind, 22 months ago, we were sold a defective product since there is no way such a vital part should have burnt out in less than two years of use. If it were my company and I sold a product that was defective, I would, at minimum, wave the diagnostic fee. We are now into this repair over $500, and that is with the warranty that covers the $1200 part. We chose your Airtron because of reputation. I understand that things happen and that machines break; however, there was never a moment where someone said, “You’ve been loyal customers, we are going to reduce the cost a bit or wave this fee…” or “This shouldn’t have broken...” This entire process felt unprofessional, from the lack of call to notify us that someone had entered our home, to the poor communication, late technician arrival, and ultimately, wrong part being ordered. We spent over 10 hours of time waiting and changed vacation plans to repair a unit that I now have lost confidence in and feel is a lemon. Our time is valuable, too! Ultimately, Airtron has lost our business, which is a shame because we have been loyal customers.
