Showecker Masonry

Mr. Showecker did a very thorough inspection of the house. He clearly explained the necessary repairs and offered a very competitive bid based on his many years of experience in the construction business. I appreciated his candor and assurance that the job would be done to my satisfaction. The completed job was so much better than I had hoped. It was almost unnoticeable - the new mortar was a very close match to the old. My husband looked at the work and said, "I don't see anything." That was exactly what I was looking for. The concrete step repair was entirely satisfactory. Mr. Showecker suggested an improvement to be incorporated in the repair, which made the steps much safer.

We found Mr & Mrs Showecker to be honest hardworking people. Maybe not all slick with fancy vans but the price reflected his honesty. Couldn't find identical bricks, he made a great suggestion on how to transition from the original bricks and tinted the mortar to match the original. Looks great! He cleaned up each day before he left. We'd use him again.

Bob did a great job, doing exactly what he said he'd do. They completely tore the old wall to the foundation and built a new one with new brick. They were very neat in their work, and even carefully saved some bushes near the wall that I thought for sure would get destroyed. They also did the work quickly, completeing it in a weeks time. The finished wall looks like new and matches the house well.

We have used Bob on numerous occasions and as usual he did an excellent job. We were preparing the house for sale so we appreciated how Bob worked with us to get things done as quickly as possible. He made an effort to match the brick on the chimney and once the repair was completed, you could not tell what was new and what was old. It looked great!

The roof on my 60-year-old house had been badly repaired several years ago. After inspecting the roof, Mr. Showecker provided a detailed and reasonable estimate and helped me understand the types of shingles that would be best for my style of house. He repaired a structural problem that had undergone substandard repairs several years ago. The repair work and the reshingling were completed within 4 days. The crew was very careful about not stepping on the plants in the flower beds around the house. Each day, debris was cleaned up; none was left when the job was completed. The beautiful new roof is complemented by the chimney Mr. Showecker built for me last fall and by guttering installed by a contractor he recommended.

The price was excellent, the product used was good (30 yr. warranty), the installation was smooth and neatly cleaned up. I have used this contractor for masonry and siding work in the past and have always been satisfied, but didn't know if roofing would go well; it certainly did. Bob Showecker understands how to put together a roof and his helpers were hard working, careful and prompt.

It took them about 3 days. They rebuilt the chimney, and did some minor concrete patching. They did a great job. I would definitely use them in the future, and I would recommend them to other people.

We recently purchased a new home and the inspection revealed water issues with the chimney and need for tuckpointing along one wall. I had Showecker Construction tuckpoint my chimney at my former residence a few years back so I contacted them. They were very responsive to phone calls and emails. They came out to give an estimate at the appointed time and were very knowledgeable about the issues and materials; suggested alternative to problems with the cap and answered all questions without rushing through. The estimate was emailed when they said it would be and work done on the day scheduled with minimal interruption to my schedule. My fiancee got up on the roof to inspect the job. The work was high quality and looks great. The mortar blends with the existing structure. We were quite satisfied.

I had confirmed with a roofing specialist that my chimney was in bad shape. I looked through the Angie's List classifieds to find a masonry specialist located in my area. I called Showecker Construction on Monday and scheduled time to talk with Bob and Linda Showecker that evening. Bob assessed my chimney and described for me the work that would be needed. The entire chimney was starting to crumble. Linda prepared an estimate on-the-spot and after reviewing it, I decided to go forward with the work. The job was started and completed within the same week. Mr. Showecker chose bricks that were compatible in color and style with my older home. The work was finished in a timely manner and the work area was left clean and tidy. The new chimney is expertly crafted and is beautiful.

We contacted them by e-mail on a Thursday, They contacted us the following Saturday morning and came Sunday morning late to give us an estimate. So reasonable that we hired them and they began the work the next day (Monday) and finished the job on Tuesday morning. We were very pleased with the work done and the promptness in which they came for the estimate and then to do the work. We will definitely use them again if the occasion ever arises.

Have used this company before. They are reliable, professional and usually the lowest price quote.

THEY DID SUCH A GREAT JOB! THEY SAVED ME A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS. OTHER PEOPLE QUOTED ME $4,000-$5,000. THEY WERE HERE WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD BE HERE.

MY ONLY COMPLAINT WITH THEM WAS THAT THEY WERE HARD TO GET IN TOUCH WITH. THEY DIDN'T GET BACK WITH ME PROMPTLY. THEY DID START THE JOB WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD, BUT THEN THEY MISSED A DAY OR TWO. THEY HAD COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS, BUT I WOULD USE THEM AGAIN.

WE SET AN APPOINTMENT TIME AND I WAS HOME ALL DAY. THEY NEVER SHOWED OR CALLED. I WAITED 10 DAYS FOR THEM TO RETURN MY CALL AND THEY STATED TO ME THAT THERE WAS A SERIOUS ILLNESS IN THE FAMILY AND WERE VERY APOLOGETIC. (AND I KNOW HOW THAT COULD DELAY EVERYTHING).

NEVER FOLLOWED UP WITH AN ACTUAL ESTIMATE.

I HAVE TALKED WITH THEM AND THEY SAID THEY COULD DO THE JOB AND WOULD BE OUT ON A SUNDAY TO GIVE AN ESTIMATE. THEY NEVER CAME OUT. I CALLED SEVERAL TIMES, AND THEY NEVER RETURNED ANY CALLS.

NEVER RETURNED CALLS. DOES NOT FINISH WORK. VERY UNEVEN TEMPERED. NEVER PROMPT. DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH.

THEY CAME OUT AND GAVE AN ESTIMATE ON THE FLOWER POT. PROMISED TO GET BACK ABOUT THE HARDSCAPE, BUT NEVER DID, EVEN AFTER A FOLLOW UP CALL FROM ME.

MR. SHOWECKER'S WORK WAS EXCELLENT. HE AND HIS HELPER WERE CAREFUL AROUND OUR PLANTINGS, AND ALSO ON THE PORCH ROOF, NOT CAUSING ANY DAMAGE THERE WHILE WORKING. THEY CLEANED UP VERY WELL. WE WERE VERY SATISFIED AND WOULD RECOMMEND HIM. RESPONDED QUICKLY WITH ESTIMATE, BUT WAS SLOW IN DOING WORK.

SAID THEY WOULD BE OUT ON SUNDAY TO GIVE ESTIMATE ON REPAIR, THEY NEVER SHOWED UP OR CALLED. I CALLED THEM AND AGAIN THEY SAID THEY WOULD COME BACK THE FOLLOWING SUNDAY AND STILL NO CALL, NO SHOW. THEY NEVER EVEN APOLOGIZED. AFTER THAT, I MADE AT LEAST 3 CALLS AND ONLY GOT AN ANSWERING MACHINE.

VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THEIR PROFESSIONALISM AND RESPONSIVENESS. THERE WERE SERIOUS PROBLEMS DISCOVERED AFTER SIDING WAS INSTALLED BECAUSE OF POOR SEALING AT THE ROOF LINE, AND THEY REFUSED TO ANSWER MY CALLS. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO REACH THEM AFTER BECOMING VERY PERSISTENT, AND THE MENTION OF POTENTIAL LITIGATION FORCED THEM TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEMS.

WHEN I BROUGHT UP MY CONCERN ABOUT THE TILE CRACKING, GROUT LINES BEING UNEVEN, GROUT BEING DISCOLORED IN MANY AREAS AND ALL THIS HAPPENING WITHIN A WEEK OF THE JOB, HE STATED: "IF YOU WANTED PERFECTION, YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE HIRED ME". WITHIN THREE DAYS AFTER THE JOB, THE TOILET BEGAN BACKING INTO THE SINK AND THE TUB. WHEN I CALLED HIM TO DISCUSS THIS, THEY ANSWERED THE PHONE, HUNG UP THE PHONE AND THEN LEFT IT OFF THE HOOK SO I COULD NOT GET THROUGH. THIS WAS VERIFIED BY THE OPERATOR. THEY ONLY ANSWERED WHEN I CALLED FROM AN UNKNOWN LINE. HE ALSO STATED THAT HE RUSHED THE JOB AND SHOULDN'T HAVE. WHEN I ASKED WHAT HE COULD DO, HE WAS UNWILLING TO REPAIR THE JOB. HE SAID HE WOULD PUT ANOTHER COAT OF GROUT ON. I HAVE LEARNED FROM THREE OTHER TILE PEOPLE THAT IT NEEDS TO BE RIPPED OUT AND RE-DONE. I LOST $300 WORTH OF MATERIALS ON THIS JOB. THAT WAS SEPARATE FROM HIS CHARGE.

THEY NEVER SHOWED UP. I CALLED TO FIND OUT WHY, AND POSSIBLY MAKE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT. THEY NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. VERY POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE!

THEY DID MORE FOR LESS MONEY THAN OTHER COMPANIES WERE GOING TO DO. I WAS JUST VERY PLEASED WITH THEM OVERALL. THEY CLEANED UP WELL AFTERWARDS. IN FACT, THEY DID A LITTLE EXTRA FOR ME. THEY DID SOME WORK ON MY BACK PORCH. THE BRICKS WERE LOSING THEIR MORTAR.

PROPRIETOR SAID THAT HE WOULD BE IN OUR AREA DURING THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND AND WOULD STOP TO REVIEW THE SITE AND PREPARE AN ESTIMATE. DID NOT SHOW OR CALL. HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM AGAIN. PROPRIETOR SHOULD CALL IF HE CANNOT MEET HIS COMMITMENTS.
