Scenic Green

Brian and his team are amazing! He is so knowledgeable about what plants, trees and shrubs thrive in sun or shade, which ones like damp soil, and what is hardy enough to thrive in Indiana. His landscape design skills were so helpful. We wanted some plants that were atypical, i.e. no boxwoods, and he gave us great ideas to use as substitutes. He even called me 4 months after we installed the plants to check in and make sure we were happy. You cannot go wrong with Scenic Green or Brian Jones: they have the skills, the manpower and the follow-through to make any project a success.

I contracted the company for lawn mowing every 2 weeks. For some reason, they started mowing weekly. When I received the erroneous invoice, and alerted the company to their error, they blamed me for being dishonest for not reporting to them that my lawn was getting mowed weekly. So they messed up then called me dishonest. I would avoid this company at all costs.

I'm very pleased with the work. All weeds were removed and shrubs were trimmed. All waste was removed.

Fantastic! An earth-friendly spray was applied first to wilt the stuff, then a few days later, everything was gone - everything! For some reason, despite having them yanked out year after year, these hardy, tree-like 'saplings' spring up. I've sawed them down, drilled a hole in them and poured Round-up all around them - still, they grow, tall and quickly. Those were out! The areas were leveled, and cleared out exactly as I'd asked. Couldn't be happier with Scenic Green's work on this!

From the first meeting to assess the work to be done to the end of the project, Brian was very professional and very meticulous. Various types of natural mulch and landscaping rocks were to be placed around the house, which meant clearing out existing flower beds, debris, weeds, etc. around the home. He had a crew with him that were very polite and did a great job. I had a minor follow-up concern and Brian immediately came out and made sure everything was exactly to my liking. I have worked with several contractors over the past few years for various home projects. Brian, by far, has been the most reliable, efficient and professional contractor I've hired, and by far gave me the best end product. 100% recommend!

Brian did a great job on the work and even came back after some weeds returned under the mulch of newly planted box shrubs and treated the area. We communicated via text and he would get back to me usually the same day. He's a busy guy. I also got some yard advice and education of yard maintenance in the process. I would definitely use Brian again.

They did a great job, and were very flexible with our schedule (we changed the date several times). Price was very reasonable.

He was able to give me a bid and do the job within a few days. His bid was fair and they did a great job.

It really didn't work out. They tried to charge me more than that but I didn't pay it. They didn't do a very good job. They tried to charge me more. There was a horrible communication issue. It wasn't a very good experience. They should improve their communication.

They did a good job with trimming the bushes and everything back however I had asked for them to also clear up leaves and sticks and when I got home there were still a lot of leaves and sticks everywhere. They came back the second day and unfortunately the same sticks were there on the north and south side of the house when I came home. They left me a message saying that if anything was there it was from falling down with the wind but these were the exact same sticks so either they didn't really understand where my property lines are or I don't know what the problem was. Overall after the second time of them coming out I thought I was a pretty good job other than the fact that they did still leave a lot of sticks, which is why I'm giving them a lower rating then I would have if they had picked up all the sticks.

I would never hire them again. I had to pay extra. He charged me for 3 people being here. There were two people here and then he came with the truck to pick up the leaves. He was here for about 15 minutes and he charged me full time for him being here. They did not remove any other debris. They only did my front yard which is not very big. The guys did a good job but I would never deal with him again.

Two men came and provided wonderful leaf removal service! We were happy with Scenic Green and will use them in the future.

That was fine. It was fine, it was just that I guess they were so overwhelmed with people taking advantage of the response it took them longer to get here than I would have liked. That's not their fault. There were no additional charges. Everything went fine with the work. I don't know about their overall grade because I don't know how much weight to give the promptness. It's like they responded okay to the thing, but it's just like, when I asked when they could come it was three weeks later. It was in December, actually. I guess somehow these smaller companies are trying to get more business so they use Angie's List and Angie's List is big so people are trying to take advantage of it. They really should get more people so they can get people's work done faster. I mean the actual work was good and I was not displeased one they got here and did the work, it was just honoring the request longer than I wish they would've. I think the promptness is important, but not important enough to not give them above average for their work. I thought that was a good price. They responded, they called me like, you know, they called us in regard to us asking for the work but then it was like, oh well, we got overwhelmed by a lot of people so it's going to be closer to four weeks before they got here. We were wanting to get rid of our leaves. They were punctual in that they said they would be out tomorrow and they came tomorrow. But it was like three and a half weeks before they could call and say they are coming tomorrow. They responded to us taking up the offer, in other words, you know, when we checked we wanted their service, they responded to that, but then when they called us it was like, well, gee, we're really booked up now. I think some of the smaller companies can afford to have these deals because they're trying to get business and notoriety, but on the other hand they can't handle the business Angie's List can afford them. If I were Angie's people I would say, "well, how big is your company," and then when you find out it's a small company, you say, "well we need to find 5 other companies that want to offer the same deal." They need to be spread out over more people somehow -- more service providers. They were professional. I have their number now and I called them in September for something that I needed in the future.

Please see my description above. I could not be present while they worked, but I was very pleased when I returned from work that day. The flower beds are cleaned and ready for next spring.

The service date was delayed by poor weather for quite a while, but the actual cleanup was great. They kept us appraised on delayed dates and times, arrived on time, and cleaned up every single wet leaf on the property!

They did a good job but I didn’t think that the quality of the much was that great. They got here real quick and spread it real quickly. I got a lot of fungus from it and I probably will not use that mulch again. It degraded quickly. I am sure if it was the summer or what.

We bought a Big Deal for fall clean-up. We have about 1/4 acre in the suburbs with several mature maples and oaks in the front and back yards. Scenic Green got to work immediately and cleaned out all the shrubs (many surrounding the house), too. They also cleaned the leaves from the driveway, deck, sidewalks, and even along the street in front of our home. We are happy with the result. We had anticipated additional charges/hours due to the amount of leaves, but this company was able to compete the work in two hours. Nice. Original work dates were delayed, but we have come to expect delays for fall clean-ups due to Indiana weather or surprise work loads. Good communication via email, too. (I never needed to call them.) We would use this company again.

I am always reluctant to use Angie's List specials and have rarely done so. The contractor is usually overwhelmed, has difficulty scheduling or can't do the job. Both times I have tried have been less than satisfactory, not because the contractor is not good, but because he doesn't have the time. In this case we had trouble scheduling and following directions. Weather didn't help. The job was eventually completed.

I explained I needed an hour in the front yard and an hour in the backyard. Because there were 2 guys, I knew they would only work an hour. HOWEVER... My neighbor said they worked 30 minutes. They did not do a bad job; they left small limbs in the yard for me to pick up. I'm handicapped and would not have needed them if I were able to do it. But the actual raking was an acceptable job. I called the owner to let him know they spent only a half hour, and he was pretty nasty on the phone. Said the other 30 minutes he spent bagging leaves, and they had done a perfect job and I had no right to complain. He would come back and do the backyard for three or four HUNDRED dollars. Yeah...no. I would have a much better review if the owner hadn't had to be right and justify the lack of actual time they worked. Thanks.
