We had a water stain on our ceiling. I called Joe and he talked me through the situation and sent out his partner Ramsey to work with the insurance adjuster. It was nice to have someone championing for us. Joe was prompt in responding to all of my many questions as I'd never had a roof replaced before and didn't understand all of the terms. The insurance adjuster was a bit slow so Joe called to check on everything and make sure we didn't have any further questions. Once all of the insurance information went through and I got the choices picked, the supplies were delivered that week and the job was completed on the Saturday. The crew was here early in the morning and gone by 3pm. There was one hiccup where they accidentally dropped a tool and it caused a little bit of damage. He rectified the situation and was quick to get it fixed. After the job was complete Ramsey came out and did a once over to make sure everything was cleaned up well. They did a great job with their customer service and follow-up/through. Thank You for a job well done.

Joe was a very nice young man. Did what was part of the package. But, to look at shingles and put caulk around 3 to 4 spots was not worth $99. Needed some shingles replaced. He said he would send a quote by Monday evening. That's been almost two weeks ago, and I have not received a quote.

Did not go well. When I brought my concerns to Joe Hill, he seemed basically unaware of what the Angie's List Deal included, and stated, "I'm not sure about what kind of written report that you were wanting". He replied in writing to my email and a voice mail with the following: "I listened to the message and decided you were not a customer that we want to do business with". Nuff said!
Description of Work: I purchased a Roof Maintenance Package, including $200 repair credit, an Angies List Deal for $79. The Angies List Deal package was to include: a roof inspection, minor repairs, caulking exposed nail heads on flashing, resealing around any unsealed pipe collars, exhaust fans, vents, and chimney flashing up to 4 penetrations, any other general maintenance, checking for interior leaks that may not be noticeable from the exterior of your home, providing photos of other areas in need of repair, a summary report on any potential plan of action. We received none of this except the inspection. This company rescheduled every appointment we set, and I had to ask for their follow up report. They did a cursory roof inspection, and furnished us with a quote for $10,000+ of work that 'needed to be done'. We received only a brief inspection and a proposal (which they say is their inspection report). We have met with three other roofing companies, all of whom did a more thorough inspection, provided us with more information, as well as a quote for work to be done, all for FREE. So, I deduce from this, since no other service was provided by Russell Hill Contracting, we paid $79 for what should have been a FREE quote.

I did have to reschedule our appointment. It was completely unforeseen as I had an issue with a roof that needed all new decking. I called two hours ahead of time and had another appointment rescheduled early afternoon on the same day. Our only meeting was with Mr. [Member Name Removed]. He was met by an owner of the company as that is important to us. They both agreed the next steps were to get a quote to replace the 35 year old roof and to call to have their money refunded. We did receive a strange VM very late at night, we followed up with Mr. [Member Name Removed] the next morning and everything was fine and normal. A week later I received a threatening email from Mrs. [Member Name Removed] which was completely out of left field. I went over the same info that we reviewed with her husband. Usually big deals are well received and we always do the right thing. The written summary when I asked what specifically was she wanting to know I got nothing. In this particular case it was the quote with the scope of work to be performed. We reviewed the state of the roof with photo documentation and continued to follow up even after the aggressive communications. I was apologetic about the process and wanted to make sure they knew we really cared. Unfortunately we didn't believe we would be able to make them happy regardless of the outcome. It is not something that happens very often only once in a blue moon for us. We are sorry that we didn't deliver a stellar experience for you but thank you for the review. They were recommended to me by a co-worker. After getting quotes, I chose them because they had the clearest idea of what I wanted in regards to improving the look & performance of a new roof. I have a lot of trees on my property and the roof has a lot of peaks & valleys. They helped improve a problem area behind my chimney to install a V-shaped section that would divert sediment from ending up in the valley behind my chimney. All the work on the roof was done in one day and everything was done professionally and cleanup was excellent. The skylights were replacements of three 30-year-old skylights and the wood casings the old skylights were set in are not available anymore. Instead they came with a team about a week later and put in new trim underneath the skylight and it looks better than I even imagined. They also got rid of some overhanging branches above the roof. Since this was a large purchase, it was very important to me that I get a crew that would get everything right the first time and clean up what was replaced. Russell Hill Contracting more than met my expectations and I have been recommending them to anyone who needs any work completed like this.

As one of the company's teams was repairing the damage to my roof, the drywall team, two gentlemen, began an hours-long job of repairing a major leak, sagging in my ceiling, which had been there for a couple of years. They were very tidy, draping the entire room, before beginning. They not only repaired the major area that was concerning me, they addresses all smaller damaged areas in the room. The workers were courteous and hard-working. They cleaned up beautifully and now all I need to do is to repaint to feel like I finally have a safe and nice living room!

Joe's team tore out and replaced the valley section of my roof with an ice and water shield. They also installed new shingles to match as close as possible. After dealing with a huge leak in my living room for a few years, this company was able to determine the issue and fixed it. They were professional, on time and did a beautiful job! No more leaks!

Joe and his crew were excellent! He quickly inspected the roof and provided a detailed scope of work. The contractor said that shingle replacement did not qualify as a minor repair. He inspected the roof, took pictures for an estimate of repairs (which I could have received for free) and found no evidence that it needed the "minor repairs" that he stated were covered by the deal. The deal states: "Package includes a roof inspection (comma) minor roof repairs (comma) caulking exposed nail heads on flashing (comma) resealing around any unsealed pipe collars (comma) exhaust fans (comma) vents and chimney flashing up to 4 penetrations (comma) and any other general maintenance." I spelled out the word "comma", because the wording of this deal in no way implies or states that "minor repairs" only include those items described after the term "minor repairs". I have had multiple shingles replaced by contractors in the past for $75 each, and felt that my money was 100% wasted on this deal since this contractor insisted that the cost of a single shingle replacement would be $250. I cannot determine whether fault lies with the contractor or with Angie's list, as the deal description was misleading and I don't know who wrote it. Nonetheless, someone has my $99 and I did not receive any expected value.

I definitely expected this. When I arrived it was an awkward conversation immediately with a tone of do this or else. When I was asked to do a major roof repair, I politely explained what the 99$ covers. You got very upset and tried to argue and made it clear I didn't know how to read the English language ( apparently there is a lot of commas ). I said I can I can see his point of view since in his eyes replacing four or five shingles on a tall and very steep roof seems like a minor repair. From reading the feedback it sounds like you didn't take my advice and call to get your money back. Thats unfortunate but you still have 30 days to get the full refund I mentioned. It was made very clear that I would be receiving a bad review since I didn't do the work. I did the inspection going over the photos with you to be polite. I reiterated to get a refund from Angie's List as they keep all proceeds from the big deals while we as contractors do what they ask and we have an opportunity to get a customer for life. Most of my experiences with this program are great and I get to make a lot of people happy. I would agree that the way this big deal is written is open to some interpretation. Most people just ask me if certain services are included. It's something I would advise people to do if there are any questions before you purchase a big deal.
