My experience with Republic Services Residential in Whitestown, Indiana has been disappointing. The pricing seems exorbitant, and the frequency of missed pickups and incorrect recycling dates is frustrating. Adding to the frustration is their refusal to collect extra bags or boxes, despite their own errors in scheduling. The additional charge of $2.50 per item outside of the designated containers feels unreasonable. Transitioning from Michigan to Indiana, I had hoped for better service from Republic, but unfortunately, my experience has left me disheartened. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Republic Services based on these issues.

Worste service ever. I am handycapped and cant get them on the phone. Website was created by jerrys kids. Hold times are insane. They ask every two minutes if you would like to hold. Bill you up front for service. Dont have them call you back only to hang up. No place on their site to cancel service

We just recently switched our roll-off services for our family owned business to Republic and could not be more happy! This was a seamless transition and their customer service has been top notch. Glad we chose them!

I find it very hard to give them even 1 star. They took 4 weeks to deliver a recycle bin. It was supposed to be picked up every 2 weeks. I called a day after the pickup day (Wednesday) and was told it would be picked up Friday by 6 pm. I called them Monday, and the customer service person assured me it would be picked up Tuesday and that she would call me mid-afternoon to check. At 2:30 on Tue. I called and canceled the service. They assured me it would be emptied that day and the bin would be picked up Wednesday. So, of course, I got a text saying the whole thing would be re-scheduled for 2 days later. SMH...
Description of Work: Simply a recycle bin with regular pickup dates.

Their customer service is horrible. They miss our trash and when I call they tell me they will be back and have until 6pm. I filed a case number anyway to be safe and they never showed up or returned my call as they should. Both trash cans are full due to the holiday and now I have to wait 3 extra day with no room to throw out more trash. Down right horrible all the way around. They are a pain to deal with anytime there is an issue. Now I have to suffer because of their mistakes.

It DIDN’T go at all! My leaf bags have been sitting out on the curb all week. Pick up was supposed to be Mon. I have a huge maple tree in my front yard that drops a few thousand leaves/week. This weekend, I’m probably going to have another 10 bags this weekend too! Republic will probably tell me I have too many on Mon. All I can say is they should be lucky Lawrence Twp picked them, because I sure as **** wouldn’t have if it were up to me!

Horrible service! The trash guys only empty half of your container. I came home and they left 4 whole trash bags in my container! It is the literal translation of a half-*** job! Meanwhile, my trash will once again be overflowing by this time next week. What really sucks is that if you live in Lawrence, you’re stuck with them because they have a long-term contract, and you don’t have a choice on which waste management company you can use. Police will find me dead in 3 months...suffocated by my own trash!

On 6/25/18 at 12:42PM, I was driving on I465 southbound behind Republic Services truck 2528. Debris flew off the truck and went straight at my new car, cracking my windshield and scratching the paint on my hood. Contacted Republic within minutes of this happening, and sent photos of the damage (and of their truck in front of me). Over a month later, their claims adjuster finally contacted me saying that they won't pay for the damages and that the debris "must've come from the road". Now I have to pay to have my windshield and hood fixed because of no fault of my own.

They don't pick up on time if there is a holiday during the week. Rays never missed a pickup. They leave the empty cans wherever they want: blocking the driveway so that you can't get out. In the street. Or next door. It's always a scavenger hunt to reclaim your carts. And you have to dodge your neighbors ' carts all up and down the street. I would never use this company if I had any other choice but the city took away our choice
Description of Work: We are forced by the city to use this company. They do NOT provide good service. When you call for service you get a call center out of state and they don't know anything. They tell you you aren't entitled to the services the city contracted for. Worst service ever.

I had been a long time customer of Southern Scavenger. Very friendly company willing to work with you and responsive. Evidently Republic Services purchased Southern Scavenger. I received nice colorful brochures explaining how great they are and what a wonderful thing this acquisition is for everyone. I had been with Southern Scavenger long enough that we were operating under a month to month contract. So along with the nicely made expensive promotional information came a contract demanding that we sign a year agreement to maintain services. At the time I did not know if I would need to have a separate dumpster for a monthly fee for an extended period. I was on city rubbish removal, so the dumpster was an added luxury and I had no intention of signing an agreement. They were free to pick up their dumpster at any time. They chose not to pick it up and eagerly deposited my monthly payments every time. Due to a terminal illness I have had to downsize from a large 2 story on 3 acres to a ranch on a lot in a subdivision and had no need for the dumpster nor the additional expense as I prepare to not be able to work. A call to Republic did not go very well, they insisted we were under an agreement with them. Unfortunately the signature they produced was from a tenant at another property and not mine nor my wife's. They agreed to stop the services and pick up the dumpster. They sent a final bill and added a $100 dumpster pick up charge. When we explained that our agreement with Southern didn't include this charge they said it was beyond their control. They charge a $100 drop off and pick up for their dumpsters to everyone. BUYERS BE WARE! Not my idea of a good experience. I am glad to no longer be using their services.

I received my quarterly bill for $30.00 for bi-weekly recycling pickup on Jan 16th. bill was dated Jan 9th. I paid it online through my bank on Jan 25th. I received a collections notice from them on Jan 29th dated Jan 22. My payment clear Jan 27th per my bank. I received a second collection notice - with a $15.00 late fee, on feb 6th. It was dated Jan 31 - 4 days after my bank's check cleared. this is the second time in 5 years Republic Services have done this to me. threatening to send me to a collection agency - after my check has cleared. I will be cancelling there services.

We pay to have 2 bins picked up. Guy who picks up trash kept leaving us notes saying both bins needed to be completely full to be at curb. I wrote letter to Republic asking why we were getting these notes when we pay for two bins. That finally stopped. Then, 2 weeks ago, came home on a Monday and bins were gone. Called Republic and were told " the bins probably got dumped into trash truck." They didn't think it was a big deal that we had no bins. Three days later, we received 2 bins. This week, went out to get the bins and found one with only one wheel on it. Couldn't find it in yard or street, so I called Republic. Was told it would be repaired in next 4 days. It's 4 days later and no repair done. Called Republic today. Was told they decided to do it next Monday when they collect trash. No matter how much trash we have, only have one bin to put out next Monday even though we are paying for 2.

We wanted a dumpster so our renter could clean out the rental house. They provided a larger dumpster than we first requested which was great, since we filled it totally. They came and picked it up timely also.

When I placed the order I told the person we wanted the dumpster picked up on a certain date because the house was sold. We called several days later because the dumpster had not been picked up. We were told we had to call for pick up. Very confusing.

We hire them to pick up our recycling every other week and they did not pick up our extra recycling today. I spoke to a customer service rep who was rude to me and said it was not their problem that it didn't get picked up because I didn't follow proper operating procedure...I think they need to reevaluate who they hire for customer service

They do not come on the correct pick up date every time. I have had to call on several different times to have them pick up trash when the neglected to pick up. Seems the contract with these guys is only one way.

Well the 1st few times went good then they didnt pick up because of a snow fall but didnt offer to credit the account in fact i had to make a couple of calls to get the credit. Then after the 1st of this year they started missing my container they picked up the neighbors behind me but missed mine i contacted them and they sent someone over in a couple of days which ment my container sat at the end of my driveway untill they got around to it. Then a month ago i even left a voice mail for the supervisor and he never bothered calling me back. Over the past 2 months they have missed me everytime and ive had to call them. Today when they missed me again. I called and told them to send someone out to pickup the recycle can ive had enough.

They were the garbage collectors when we moved in so we have stayed with them. They come by every week on a Thursday and pick up the trash. I expect to not have to pick up trash off the ground. They have one of those arms that pick up the trash can, and they leave trash on the ground.
Description of Work: Republic Waste Services collect the trash every Thursday. This is the monthly cost.

Today was pick up day. We went out to retrieve the bin. It was full. Republic truck came around , but did not empty the bin. Instead, a generic note was left on the bin saying that "during a recent route audit it was discovered that your address has been delivered a blue and yellow recycling cart." It went on to give information about setting up an account. We don't question the need to set up an account or to pay for the service, but we kept expecting a second letter in the mail (or even a generic note on the cart) regarding the matter of billing or not( in which case the bin would be taken away). It has taken Republic a year to "discover" where their carts are and they have chosen to disrupt the service with no notice of any kind. We called Republic to set up an account, but no pick up until 2 weeks. The maddening thing is that Republic's stance is that we are at fault because we did not contact them. We never asked for the bins to be delivered in the first place, and we kept waiting for the bill, thinking that Republic knew whom they had delivered bins to and were tracking potential customers. Republic's sales/ accounting dept. screwed up, but Republic can't admit it and want to put the fault back on its customers. We want to recycle so we set up an account , but are looking for alternative services in our area and will switch if we can find one.
Description of Work: Republic picks up recycling in our neighborhood. Sometime last year, they dropped off recycling bins with a letter to inform residents that we were participating in a 3 month trial for their recycling service and that if we wanted to continue with the service, we would receive a bill after the 3 months or could discontinue at that point. The pick-up has gone on and on and it has been OK as a pick up service , but they never sent any further communication concerning bills or anything else.

On the day we were to receive the extra 2 carts, they only brought out 1 cart. I called the customer service department & they assured me the 2nd cart would be brought out ASAP. It arrived a WEEK later and only after I complained to the gentleman doing the weekly pickup & he called the office & they brought 1 cart out that day. I had the carts for the month of July and I called before the end of the month for Republic to pick up the 2 extra carts. Customer service advised me they would call the day before they picked up so I would be sure the carts were out of the garage. At that time, I also advised customer service that I would be cancelling service and switching to a company that is less expensive and is not charging the Fuel/Environment Recovery fee (which has continually increased at every billing cycle)! They wanted to negotiate fees but we had done that in the past and they slowly keep increasing their fees. I advised the customer service agent that we were going with another company that did not charge the Fuel/Environment Recovery fee. Our new waste service company is scheduled to pickup the same day as Republic. So on our first day of service with the new company I had our 1 new trash cart at the end of the driveway ready for pickup and the 3 Republic carts at the other end of the driveway near the garage ready for Republic to pick up (but still had not been notified by them as to when they were going to pick up). When I arrived home that afternoon my trash had been collected....but I had NO CARTS!!! I called the new company & they had us down for pickup that day and couldn't understand where the cart went.....I called Republic and explained the situation, put on hold, and ah yes.....Republic accidently took the new cart along with the 3 Republic carts!!! The carts are 2 different colors, clearly marked, and were placed a long distance from one another on the driveway!!! The customer service agent said the supervisor apologizes and they will return the cart that does not belong to them the next day, which they did. If the supervisor knew this happened...why did I have to be the one to call in to figure out what happened???? This week, I received what I hoped to be my last invoice from Republic...but of course...I cancelled service after the invoice was sent out. I called to be sure they understoond I was cancelling service & should only be charged for the 2 extra carts for the month of July. The first customer service agent was confused by the billing & told me she would call back...well she did not. I called Republic again later the same day and after being put on hold several times...I was given my new balance but it took a great deal of research to come up with the same total that I came up with. Republic is too expensive and this fuel / environment fee???? I have to use fuel to get to my job and go to the grocery store....who can I charge my recovery fee to???? The Republic supervisor knew our new cart was picked up by the Republic worker....why didn't THEY call us to report it and apologize? It would have meant a lot! They lost a customer!
Description of Work: We have had Republic Services for our residential service since 2001. I must say over the years the crews that have actually done the weekly pickup have for the most part been very good. No damage to cans or property, no messes left on the road, & timely pickup. My only complaint there would be that they often left the emply can in the middle of the drive & it made it difficult to pull in from our busy road. We were going to have a wedding reception here at our home and I ordered 2 extra trash carts to be delivered in additional to the 1 we already were using for our regular weekly pickup.

When my parents passed away, it fell on me to handle their bills, clean out their home and get it sold. Of all their utilities and services, Republic was the ONLY one that didn't give me hard time about transferring the service. Their customer service people were kind and professional. When I asked about dumpster service, I was given several options and the CSR helped me choose the best one for me. Since I don't live at that house, she set up a time for delivery of the dumpster. The dumpster was delivered when they said it was. The driver was professional and pleasant. A month later, I called to have the dumpster switched out. They scheduled me the following day. Again, everything was done properly and everyone I've come in contact with has been very friendly and professional. I'm very pleased.

It is a great way to get your things recycled without a lot of trouble. You don't have to sort your recyclables.
