We are a family-owned flooring company, specializing in price-conscious flooring options, with an extreme emphasis on service. Our growth is driven primarily by client referrals, and we offer references and pictures through our website at www.reedflooring.com.
We hired Tim Reed to install 1000 sq ft of carpet in our basement. Tim boasts on his website of the “golden rule” and doing business on a handshake, gaining your trust, and doing a wonderful job. However, this has been the most frustrating and time consuming experience we have ever had with a company. Tim originally promised installation on 5/29. The next 12 days were a series of trying to track him down - calling, emailing, and texting without reply until we notified him that we would be hiring someone else for the job and giving him the bill, submitting complaints through various sources, and taking legal action. He had numerous excuses (his contractors are tied up, there’s a problem at the delivery warehouse, stuck in traffic) – every day there was an “emergency” and then he promised “tomorrow” and then would cease all communication. An installer finally showed up and after a couple of hours of work, said that he installed part of the carpet pad, but Tim had not delivered the carpet and he didn’t have enough tack strip to finish the pad, so he didn’t have anything left to do. After several more days of trying to track Tim down about the carpet delivery, he finally showed up with carpet – only to find out that he had only ordered 700 sq ft (300 sq ft short). He then proceeded to say that there were more problems at the warehouse, ceased communication, and stalled more time. I would not let up on him, and he finally delivered the carpet and the installer was here until midnight putting it in. We would in no circumstance rehire him for any further jobs, and would not give a recommendation for his work. Upon further checking, he has numerous AngiesList and Better Business Bureau complaints of making off with people’s money, not completing jobs, and doing poor work.

He never did anything. He took my money and ran. I had to get an attorney involved and still $10,000 is gone. He is a crook.
Description of Work: I hired him to do new appliances for my home.

It was horrible. He took $6000 of my money up front with $6000 left to pay. The guy that laid it did such a bad job that everything has to be redone. Tim Reed said he would fix it and make it right by taking out pieces of the tile that were bad. There wasn't one square yard of good flooring anywhere in the house. Other professionals said it couldn't be fixed. Just had to be all torn out and redone completely. Reed wanted the other $6000 to do it. He doesn't understand why I wouldn't pay him up front to fix it? When you see the pictures, you will understand. I took over 200 of them, and I can send anyone that wants to hire him all of them if you want. I'll just put one up for now, because they ALL look like this. You can't notice it at first, but when the light come into the house, it's just horrible. If anyone wants more pictures, feel free to contact me at nataliestoner@yahoo.com for more. My husband was dying while this job was getting done, and I couldn't deal with it at first. Now that my husband is gone, I'm having every bit of this redone. If he doesn't pay me back my $6000 (which he said he won't), I'm going to sue him for more. He can pay for the floor to be torn out and all redone as well. The way I see it, he owes me $6000 for the tile I had to rebuy and the labor to tear it all out and redo it. A total of $11,000. And that's just the floors. I'm also redoing the bathrooms for thousands more. It's been a nightmare. He just doesn't have anyone on his work force that knows how to do tile. Nice guy but has no business hiring people. A ten year old boy was seen putting my grout on! And I have texts from him saying it was a horrible job.
Description of Work: I had practically my entire house tiled. Over 1000 square feet of flooring and walls in the bathroom.

Tim was prompt, professional and real. You could see his energy and passion for what he does. He made suggestions, but also listened to what my wife wanted. As he was doing the job, he would check in to see how we liked it. He cleaned up and left the area like it was before. We plan to use him for additional remodeling needs in our home and bathroom.
Description of Work: I had some hardwood flooring questions and remodeling questions for Tim. He was very knowledgeable throughout the process and helpful. The work he did turned out amazing. My wife and I had a reclaimed barn wood wall done in our nursery.

On 3/27/2016 we contacted Reed Flooring via Facebook message. We arranged for Tim Reed to come to our home on Thursday, March 31st at 6:30pm. At 6:45pm I received a call that they had a vehicle break down and that Tim had to go pick up the contractor. He apologized (on my voicemail as we were outside with our dog waiting for him) and said he’d like to reschedule. After speaking with Tim via Facebook messenger, and receiving an apology there as well, we rescheduled for Tuesday, April 5th. Tim arrived on time. Our meeting went well and he advised us he’d have a quote to us the following day (Wednesday 4/6). On Wednesday I sent Tim a Facebook message thanking him and advising him that my husband and I were excited to hear his ideas and see the estimate. On Friday morning, we still had not heard back via FB and did not have the promised quote via email. I left Tim a voicemail on his cell Friday morning indicating I wanted to check in and see when we could expect the quote. Today is Monday, 4/11/16. We left him a second voicemail requesting he update us. This was at approximately 10am. It is now 4pm on that same day and still nothing. We are EXTREMELY disappointed in his lack of communication and unprofessional way of handling himself. I feel that it is only fair to warn others of this behavior. After reading REED FLOORING LLC's other "F" rated review on here, we see that Tim has a history of poor communication and using a "vehicle breakdown" as an excuse for missing appointments. If he doesn't want to do the job for you, he just ignores all forms of communication with you. PROCEED WITH CAUTION AND KEEP YOUR EXPECTATIONS VERY LOW WITH THIS GUY.
Description of Work: He didn't do anything - he cut off all communication after coming to our house to see the work we wanted done. We were told we'd have an estimate the next day, and at the time of this posting we haven't even been given so much as a phone call.

I made arrangements for Tim Reed to give us a quote on a bath remodel. I left work early to meet him at my home at 5:30. After 6:00 and no Tim, no call or email, I finally emailed him- no reply. Then I called and left a voicemail. He called me back 45 minutes after our appointment. He claimed he was having vehicle problems but could get to my house in 1/2 hour- 6:45. He texted me at 6:30 and said he could't make it and suggested Thursday. I could not accommodate him for that night and suggested a different night. Her never replied. I texted him again and he never replied. I have never heard for him again. Looking back, it was clear he was never going to contact me to let me know he wasn't coming. Maybe he forgot the appointment. He did not seem forthright was extremely unprofessional. He might want to delete his bible references on his web site as well.
Description of Work: Nothing- he did not show up for a quote for a bath remodel

Response from Reed Flooring, LLC
I am sorry for this slow response, as I have never been on Angie's list before today! [Member Name Removed], I am very sorry for the experience you had with us...at the time when you contacted me my wife was in the hospital and I was unable to keep up with the business in any reasonable timeframe. I am very sorry that I frustrated and upset you...it was certainly unintentional, and unacceptable, and your feelings are very understandable. I can assure you that any future dealings you would have with Reed Flooring would be much happier, as my wife is doing well, and we have hired a project manager and office manager to handle call volume and keep our customer service supreme. Thank you for the opportunity to extend my apologies. Sincerely, Tim Reed
