Re-Side Fiber Cement Siding Inc

Using Re-Side was a fiasco. I highly recommend you avoid Reside. The work was completed with no major issues. Fast forward to roughly a month before we're scheduled to sell the house. The buyer's inspector identifies some shoddy workmanship (such as a ⅝" gap between trim boards). It was written up in their inspection report and we agreed to get it fixed since Re-Side quoted a 5 year warranty, and we were well within that timeframe. Well, that warranty might as well not even exist. (Let that sink in for a moment.) We've contacted David at least 5 separate times over the last 3+ weeks. He won't come even look at the issue, so we took pictures (with a ruler measuring the gap) and text them to him. No response. He still won't come out and look at the issue, let alone fix it. Heck, he won't even return our phone calls. How many weeks is reasonable to respond to a customer in a time-sensitive situation? 1 week? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? Apparently David Mills thinks more time is necessary. At this point we don't have enough time to hire someone else before closing to actually get the work done, plus, there is the principle of the matter since part of what we paid for was the warranty. This is likely to cause a major headache at closing and is potentially risking the sale of the house. All because Reside won't honor their warranty. I'm in the process of hiring a lawyer, and plan on suing him in small claims court if the issue isn't resolved before closing in less than a week.

I contacted Re-siding on two occasions asking for a quote for siding replacement. The first time I had no reply to my voice message. The second time I reached the owner who said someone would come by to provide a quote and again I never heard from the company again. It must be good to be so busy you don't need to reply to potential new customers.

Re-Side did a fantastic job! From the beginning of the sales process to the end of the project, the owner clearly communicated the business process and closely managed the renovation and painting work. I would highly recommend Re-Side to family, friends and neighbors. My wife and I are very happy with the final product. The work turned out even better than we expected.

Overall the job went very well. We had seen the work David had done at our neighbor's home. His understanding of the fiver cement products was very good. The crew seemed very efficient and addressed any concerns that came up along the way. Due to cold weather, we had to get through the winter to get the paint completed. My only regret is not having the soffit replaced at that time. David didn't think it was in bad shape, so I let it go. It's still ok, but I would have liked to do it at that time rather than deal with it down the road. We also had our old gutters replaced by David with the larger 6" type. The paint was put on mostly be an airless spraying system, 2 coats were applied. The quality of workmanship was good and the paint seems to be holding up well. We are happy with the end result. I would call David again if the need arose.

I did my research and got estimates. David Mills had the expertise and work history to make me comfortable enough to get an estimate. It was clear that David was quite thorough in putting his quote together and listened to all the odd concerns I had. The other estimates I received were a little vague, or they wanted me to change materials or change the brand and style of the windows I wanted. David listened and gave suggestions that actually improved my estimate and final goal. I chose Re-Side to do the work and I am happy I did. Davis was on sight quite a lot and made sure that I was pleased with the results at every stage. The work included removing the current T-111 plywood siding from the 1980's, installing all new windows and exterior doors, wrapping the house and installing siding and trim. The style of the house went from modern vertical grooved siding to horizontal Hardie siding. There were a few design changes too including adding a small pergola over the rear sliding door and a few "Craftsman" detail touches. I am quite familiar with construction techniques and materials and so I was pleased with what I saw being done. After the job was finished many neighbors and a number of drive-bys did not hesitate to tell me how good the house looked. I even had a fellow who had witnessed the installation and he came to the door to ask me for information about who did the work. It was that good, and provided a dramatic change to the entire home. As you may recall, we had a lot of rain in a short period of time and we had zero leaks and no call-backs. Clean up what perfect in every sense. I would not hesitate calling David again even if it was to give me a recommendation for another trade.

I contacted 6 companies about residing my house with James Hardie fiber cement. Of the 6, 3 were certified (per James Hardie's web site) to install Hardie siding. One of those was David Mills/Re-Side. I did not ultimately go with David Mills/Re-Side, but I felt compelled to write a review because David was without question the most informative and professional of the 6. David's explanation of Hardie siding and my specific project was definitely what I needed to make an informed decision about this project. David offered a truly in depth explanation of the process, and the proposal was so thorough that I was able to understand all of the other not so informative proposals I had received. The proposal had photos with highlighted sections to explain what would be done. No one else did that, but it made a big difference. I highly recommend adding David Mills to your list of potential contractors if you're looking to re-side your home with James Hardie fiber cement. Re-Side's price ended up about in the middle of the quotes I received, and that seemed like a bargain based on the confidence I had with the other companies. However, I did get one particularly low bid from another company highly rated on Angie's List that I decided to go with. I don't have quite as much confidence in this other company, but I'm relying on the Angie's List reviews that I will be happy with the result, fingers crossed.

Overall, their service was very good. The siding work was good. We had a definite problem with them reinstalling storm doors and some other minor problems, but overall, the basic job was very good. It is 50-50 if we are going to use them again in the future.

The materials and a dumpster was placed in the driveway which began the whole process March 20 by taking off the old siding and added the wrap to protect the house from moisture. The dumpster was filled and removed with in a few days and the material arrived. Each day there was progress. I wish we were as fast as they were n choosing the color for the house. That took the longest time. James Hardie and Sherman Williams work together so we had great paint and samples to choose the colors of TimberBark and Arctic White. We love the colors of the house! It was good to see the pride the workers had in their work. They labored each day to do a great job. We are very pleased with David Mills and his ReSide company. There a so many little touches that made us glad we chose ReSide. The care in which the materials were stored, the workmanship, the desire to be picky as if it was their house. We finally have a finished product June 3rd but that is only because Dave wanted to have the work be perfect and he didn't ask for a penny until the work was done to his and our satisfaction. I have been very pleased with my many neighbors stopping and saying how beautiful the house is. Seriously, you want to get to know your neighbors better have ReSide do their magic and you'll make lots of new friends.

David arrived on time, took a thorough tour of the house inside and out, took lots of measurements, answered all my questions, and educated me on a number of things relating to siding and windows. It was a pleasure speaking with David during the estimate. He said I should expect an estimate in a couple of weeks. Still waiting almost two months later. Needless to say I will not be selecting Re-Side for our $40K-plus project.

The entire process went very smoothly. Before any work began, David made several trips to our home to talk through our options and describe exactly what would be done with our project. He and his team did a great job getting our project done in a timely manner, despite having to work around several days of bad weather. David was very easy to work with, the finished product looks great and our project was completed on time for the exact amount we discussed up front. We couldn't be happier with Re-side and the work they performed for us.

We are very pleased with the work and manner of David Mills and his team. During the planning stage, David was completely patient and unhurried as we worked through multiple options and scenarios, including color. He provided informed opinion and, when asked, his own recommendation on each point. David provided a very competitive quote and the project came in exactly on budget. David is a kind and pleasant man, and his work team reflects the values he brings to his work. In the course of an inevitably disruptive major work on our home, the men were polite, considerate, and cleaned up after each work day beyond what we ever would have anticipated. They also worked around the logistics involving our somewhat opinionated dogs, never a task for the faint of heart. We would enthusiastically recommend Re-Side to homeowners who, like us, desire a quality job performed to high quality standards on a flexible time frame at reasonable cost by a small team.

I could not have been more pleased with David Mills' personal service and that of his installation and painting contractors. David was frequently onsite and readily answered my many questions. The crew was extremely helpful, efficient, polite and were very easy to work with. I would not hesitate to recommend Re-Side to friends and family and would hire them again without hesitation. They did many extra things for me to complete the job and were the best crews ever!

We had some woodpecker damage on our wood siding. Since the siding is pretty old we decided to explore the possibility of replacing it. David came to assess the situation. He is a very personable and knowledgeable person. Compared to some other contractors, we found David's approach to bidding very professional/thorough. He first looked at the siding and explained all the options that were available to us. Then he we had a sit down with him where he explained in a very detailed way what we would be getting, and spent plenty of time responding to our queries. He is not the cheapest, but his methodical approach to bidding/laying out things really appealed to us. We felt assured that his quality, as also reflected by the reviews here, will be pretty good. We decided ultimately to put off siding replacement for a year or two. But when the time comes we are likely to have him do the job for us.

David was great to work with...his crew was responsive and detailed oriented. Left the job site clean every day. Going to continue to use him for other items around the house...

The project could not have gone better! David came to our home listened to our horror story from the original re-siding job we had from done another company, measured everything and gave us a complete estimate that spelled out everything they would do. We scheduled the work and everything happened like clockwork. The siding part of the job took a 5 or so days, and the crew did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. The window was special order, and took a couple weeks from Pella, and David's crew came out promptly and installed it. The window was an odd size and we ordered the "Architect" series window which was approx. $3,400 of the total project. David came out after the project was completed and we did a walk-around to do a final inspection. We had a few questions, and one minor issue with an outdoor security light that was loose. David had someone out later that day and fixed that. We were surprised at how well the entire project went! We are thrilled with the result. We would highly recommend Re-Side to anyone considering having cement board siding installed on their home.

This job went very smoothly from beginning to end. Re-side owner (David Mills) provided a timely and very detailed quote with pictures included. I had 3 other contractors also quote the job. Re-side's quote was cost competitive and I was confident they would do the best job. The work was all completed as expected in a timely fashion. The crew was very respectful, took care in not destroying my landscaping/flowers, and did a fantastic job of cleaning up. My house is beautiful now.

The response to my Angie's list contact was almost immediate. the project manager promptly set up an appointment on a cold February day to give us an estimate. His presentation was professional, not pushy and informed us about exactly what we would be buying, how it would be installed, costs, timing, color choices and clean-up. We were impressed by the thorough presentation and the explanation of why we should choose a company that has been trained by James Hardie and has their work audited by James Hardie. This was not our cheapest estimate, but we are happy that we went with the "you get what you pay for" choice. They sent out a color consultant from Sherwin Williams. She was professional, thorough, nice and helped us choose colors that would compliment our brick color and our neighborhood. The workers came on time as scheduled every time we expected them. They were good guests and treated our property as if it were their own. They provided a dumpster from a vendor who does not allow smelly food garbage in the dumpster, so it wasn't stinky! The dumpster came the day the siding was installed and left a day or two after they were done. The 2nd dumpster came when the roof was done and left the next day. We had a lot of delay because of the weather. It was a snowy and rainy spring, so we had to wait for clear weather windows to get the work done. That was frustrating for all of us, but I think the only way to get around that would be to schedule the work to be done in the summertime. Two days to install siding. Two days to install roof. Rain gutters were installed late of Friday afternoon at the last minute because a huge 3-4 inch rainfall was expected. The two guys who came out were a little grumpy about having their Friday hijacked, but they got them up before the rain came. Painters also did a nice job and paid excellent attention to details. David (project manager and salesman) was a pleasure to work with! Our house is the envy of the neighbors and looks like a new house - not a 25-year old one. We recommend this company to anyone wanting to replace their old rotting wood siding. Our house is warmer and quieter after the installation. Everything was done as promised. David came out himself and touched up the paint and replaced an outdoor light that was damaged by the siding crew. He also gave us a new doorbell button because the painters got a little paint on the old one. We are picky consumers and appreciated their attention to detail.

Once the contract was signed and the money collected for the deposit is when the lies and empty promises began. We gave reside almost two full months and needed a completion date for a major family event at our house. We were promised and assured multiple times that there would be ample time and they had openings with their crew to complete our house well before our date while even including time for delays for weather. David one of the partners started offering promises when we expressed concern our date was approaching. David flat out lied and told us painters and siders were coming the next few days to begin work on our house and when confronted about the matter made up additional lies and excuses about everything. My wife called him on the phone and he was incredibly rude and unprofessional. David stated he had four houses that where his clients that had priority and that our house was not a priority and we would not make our promised date and we had to suck it up and wait for his list to be done. My wife politely told him to take us off his list and refund our deposit. We will now have our major family event with horrible looking siding sure glad we wasted time on this subject two months ago to prevent this from happening yes sarcasm. I asked around with friends that have friends and family as contractors David is not well liked or respected in this industry. They all clearly stated David is the problem with ReSide his lack of professionalism honesty and concern for the customer is a huge reason to stay away. The message to homeowners is clear stay away from David stay away from reside and of course they will be great until the contract is signed and deposit is collected and then they will treat you like dirt. I hope our negative experience saves homeowners in the future.

They've done a really good job thus far. All that is left is final painting.

We have been corresponding on phone and e-mail. We are signing a contract with him on Monday. He was very prompt in replying to me when I e-mailed through Angie's List. We were kind of impressed by the fact that they are one of the only certified James Hardie installers in Indiana. We think that their price is reasonable.

We have always been particular about painting prep and painting, OK job, not sure if we would use for future whole house painting.Not awful, should have cleaned up around windows more to our taste. Overall, extremely pleased!

Everything was first rate! David was very responsive. Actually, we've used him twice now. He came out and did an estimate, a very thorough report. Then his crew came out when they said they were going to come out. They were clean, efficient and got the job done. They cleaned up after themselves. We really couldn't be happier with the whole experience.

In April my roof and the aluminum siding on the upper story of my home were damaged by hail. I had the roof replaced by a well-known kocal roofing company who did a very good job at a fair price. I obtained three estimateds for replacing thealuminun siding with fiber cement board. I was most impressed by the estimate I received from David Mill the owner of Re-side. The highest estimate was from a division of the roofing company and did not specify the brand of sidiing. They also included the replacement of some of the cedar mid band board between the sidinng and the stone lower story. The estimate I received from David specified James Hardie siding. He also included the replacement odf all the mid band board wiith a resin composite board that will not rot as cedar will. He also specifed the replacement of all frieze trim, corner trim, window trim, and rake trim with resin composite board. He also specified the replace of some damaged soffit. David also provided color photographs of my house showing what would be replaced. He also explained in detail the advantages of the materials he was proposing. His estimate was somewhat less than the estimate I received from the roofing compnay. Re-side was able to start the job about a week after we signed the contract. His crews were able to complete most of the job in one day including removal of the original aluminum siding. His workmen were neat and professional and were careful to protect the shrubbery and other plantings around our home. I could not be happier with the job by Re-side. We have received a lot of compliments from our neighbors and friends about how much better our home looks with the new siding. David Mills really cares about his work and his customer's satisfaction. I cannot imagine using another siding contractor.
