PRM ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AIA

Description of Work: PRM installed a beautiful front door with sidelights. The job was professionally performed, and we are extremely happy with the new entrance to our home.

Description of Work: I'm an independent designer/business owner who hired PRM to complete work on a client project. Details of the job were removing formica countertops and replacing with 2"x2" tile, adding backsplash, scraping texture off a ceiling and finishing smooth, painting and switching out one hanging light fixture and 6 undermount cabinet lights. My experience with Paul was far below my expectations. PRM'S owner had come to meet at the clients home with myself and the client to discuss work to be done, take measurements etc. Despite the in person assessment of the work at hand, an additional bill for 1400+ surfaced in the middle of the job. PRM'S owner stated he didn't know the kitchen island was to be tiled (despite the in person discussion on site before work began). Along the way I realized I didn't have a cell ph# for PRM and he wouldn't provide so I could contact if something came up- I had to email (from on-site another job) and wait for response- response times varied. If I had questions, they were always met with a defensive/aggressive response. The client had tried to address concerns with the owner and again- aggressive and unprofessional response. Hanging lights are hung at a standard height of 30-36" and my clients was hung at 20" directly above a gas range/open flame. Both client and I had concerns and when brought to the PRMs attention, he said he would adjust for more money with a new design/work order...again- childish and unprofessional since both client and I addressed concerns before the light was finished being hung. The tile counters were also left with a sharp edge as they were applied with 1/8 to 1/4 of the tile hanging below the cement board backing. It was a simple fix of filling the gap with silicone, but again- PRM refused. In my (and the clients) mind, installation includes not leaving an edge sharp enough to cut skin. At the end of PRM'S "work" I had to pay out of pocket to have an electrician re-hang the lighting and I personally spent 9 hours correcting the sharp tile issue. When I told PRM'S owner that I intended to pay him the balance of what I owed him LESS the electrician cost and my own time in labor, he threatened to put a lien the clients and my own home- a tactic I now see in Angies list, he has used before. Lastly- during the course of the week, he called to say he and his guys were unable to work a scheduled day because their tile saw was broken- again, I see after the fact, he has a history of prolonging the job...was the saw really even broken? Based on this experience (worst I've ever had with a general contractor), I wouldn't recommend PRM nor use them for any future projects.
