The Paul Davis team arrived quickly and billed directly with my insurance company after the water pipe break which minimized potential issues. They are local franchises of the Paul Davis name so each can be a different experience. This branch did a fine job. The goal was to dry out the house after a leak while I was away that turned out to be 6500 gallons of water (per the water bill). Could things have been a bit more gentle? Of course, but expedience and getting the interior of the walls and subfloor dried to prevent mold was the focus. They spared no effort and it still took a week of industrial equipment running non-stop throughout the house. They tested moisture levels thoroughly and opened drywall as needed to access the damage, In the end there is a lot of rebuilding but certainty that the water was removed.

I don't have anything to compare the price to. It was not a choice where I called five contractors to get different prices. It's hard to say if the price was right or not. The insurance company paid for it, and they did an excellent job. They responded very quick. There were no problems with their punctuality. They were very professional people and had a good crew. If I had to get work done, and I was responsible for it, I would definitely call them.
Description of Work: We had some water in the basement. They came in, had people dry everything up, and patch up the drywall. They put down our new carpet. They did a lot of things.

+ -1 moreThey told us they couldn't finish the job because it was too big for them. All they could do was restore the house to its original state. They left three huge dehumidifier in our house for three weeks. We had to beg them to come back for them. Their supervisor eventually came out to get the last of them after such a while. We had to call them back several times to finish some things like repairing a water line they broke which they came back twice to fix it. It as quite an inconvenience and frustrating too. It was eventually terrible to get them to do what they were supposed to do. We would not use them again unless we didn't have another option.
Description of Work: They clean up the nest, moved furniture out, dehumidified the dry walls, dried out my water leak, and removed rotten wet flooring.

Description of Work: The company restored our basement after a sump pump failure. The owner and the management team came to the initial visit and did the water work because all of the other staff teams were on other job sites. They all did a great job!!!!

The guys came close to the time they were expected and worked nonstop for 4 1/2 hours. They were careful with my belongings and were thorough in the cleanup. A ceiling had collapsed in my living room and they cleaned up all the plaster, pounds and pounds of cellulose insulation and dust. They were great!
Description of Work: Robin Altmeyer came to the house, estimated the scope of the cleanup and worked over the weekend to come up with a price that was more than fair. We scheduled the work to be done three business days later.

Description of Work: Paul Davis Restoration was sent by my insurance company after I reported leaking from a broken water heater. They were there quickly and got fans set up to start the drying process. The drying job was done well. Unfortunately they banged up some appliances and even though I showed it to the people doing the clean up and again to the people giving me a quote on the repairs I did not hear from anyone until I informed my insurance company. At this time Paul Davis did contact me and offered a very fair (more than I asked for) allowance to compensate for the damages. Overall, they were reasonable to deal with.

This experience started off fairly well, but in the end was not great. I wish I had done my own research and chosen my own restoration company, but due to the urgent nature of the situation, I went with my insurance company's suggested contractor. Had I checked Angies List, I clearly would not have chosen this company. It appears that they do alot of insurance work, and thus may not be completely focused on homeowner satisfaction. The actual tear out of the damaged areas and the mold remediation went fairly well, although the communication during the process was not great. For the restoration portion, it was definitely a less than average experience. Their estimate for the restoration work was high based on some comparisons I did, so I only decided to use them for the drywall and cabinet replacement (for the flooring, I chose a different contractor). The subcontractor that was used by Paul Davis Restoration was unreliable and not punctual. There were 4-5 different occasions when he said he would show up, but did not. Then he would contact me and reschedule, only to not show up at the rescheduled time. He was good at providing excuses, which came off as very unprofessional. This went on for a period of over 4 weeks - for a job that realistically could have been done in a matter of days. He never did show up to remove some of the trash and material left over from the job - I ended up having to caul Paul Davis Restoration directly, and they sent someone to finally take away the trash. I suppose the quality of the work was average, but you could tell the that subcontractor was just trying to do the minimum required. To be clear, most of my dissatisfaction was with the subcontractor - but ultimately Paul Davis is responsible for who they hire.
Description of Work: Paul Davis Restoration of South Indianapolis was used by my insurance company to do water damage mitigation and restoration after a disconnected water supply line caused water damage to my basement drywall, cabinets, and floor. They ended up doing all of the mitigation and mold remediation, and some of the restoration work (cabinets and drywall).

In February, when the weather was very bad, my pipes burst and about $3,000 worth of my belongings were ruined. Becky and her crew from Paul Davis came over and made me feel so much better. They were nice and helpful, they even gave me advice for dealing with the insurance company. They also cleaned some of my salvagable belongings and delivered them to my new home. Becky was always available for me to call and ask questions. I would definitely use them again in the future.

They work on "island time" .....We will be there in the Morning they said ..then show up NUMBEROUS TIMES in the late afternoon ...but at least it was the same day NO CALL to warn of their lateness ...how about a text with a heads up ...the work was great BUT we have jobs ..we can't take off and wait all day Final straw ....when the drying people left on a Friday They "restoration side" will call you Monday ......of course NO CALL Call the office Tuesday AM ...they knew NOTHING of needing to call me Got numberous "we are so sorry" in my call ...but still ....really !

+ -1 moreUnfortunately, the employee in charge of our project failed to communicate with us on a daily basis as was promised. We were out of town during the drying period. They promised to check house daily and report to us status. At some point early on, a breaker was tripped due to electrical surge. Our refrigerator was damaged by this and failed to come back on when breaker was reset. We did not find out about this until we returned from out of town. We had to replace refrigerator and all the food, etc. in it. The contractor never contacted us about all of this until weeks later. They eventually apologized and waived their charges for the remediation. However, the waiving of these charges did not cover our total loss.
Description of Work: Contractor provided remediation for an ice dam on roof area. Removed dam, found water damage in drywall, carpet and flooring. Set up dryers, etc. and removed damaged materials.

Our roof sustained hail damage. We contacted several companies provided to us by our insurance company and initially selected Paul Davis Restoration based on the professionalism of the company representative. He was able to meet with us relatively soon after contacting the company, he arrived in professional attire and spent around an hour with us both on the roof to survey the damage as well as explaining the company's roofing products (as opposed to some other companies whose representatives dropped off a packet of information with no explanation and/or didn't even go up on the roof). He kept us informed every step of the way, the roof was completed in a timely fashion, and when there was one small area that we thought needed a little more attention, he had it taken care of, no questions asked. The workers were respectful of our property when working and cleaned up well after work was done. The new roof is of much better quality than what we originally had, and it looks great. The company also worked directly with our insurance company so that there was no hassling or acting as go-between on our part, which was also nice. Overall, we were very pleased and would highly recommend this company.

The team arrived after the plumber, very professional, set up a dehumidifier & several fans to dry out the water damage on 1/28/13. I was disappointed to learn this team took their fans, dehumidifier & closed our case 1 day early & that they didn't insist we get our carpet in room replaced (only the pad was authorized), so now the carpet has mildew & moldy smell & wasn't professionally cleaned till 2/14/13 (way too late).
Description of Work: had water damage, my insurance company contacted Paul Davis Restoration, they came out same day, very professional. The team came out to access & clean up water damage (that we hadn't already done), set up several fans & dehumidifier, which were going around the clock for 3 days instead of the original 4 days planned

From my perspective, the whole project could not have gone better, been easier on me and had better results. I wish I could get this kind of great service from all the service providers I use. I believe that getting Paul Davis Restoration on board quickly after the loss prevented more damage from occurring and minimized the loss. The insurance adjuster agreed.
Description of Work: The supply line on my kitchen sink burst and there was no one home to turn it off. The water from the supply line flooded the sink base cabinet, the kitchen and hallway laminate floor and a portion of the living room carpeting. I contacted Paul Davis Restoration Southside at approximately 5:30 in the evening and they had their water mitigation manager at the property by 6:30 pm. He repaired the broken supply line and he put some equipment in place to start the drying process. The next morning the mitigation manager showed up to remove the damaged material and to expose the subfloor to the drying equipment. In the interim, the manager called to coordinate the claim with the insurance adjuster and myself. He then prepared an estimate and submitted it to the claims adjuster. He requested that I pick out the replacement laminate floor that I wanted using some price guidelines that he felt would be within the adjusters cost limits. His guidance was right on. I elected to buy new carpeting for the damaged carpeting, even though Paul Davis could have cleaned it. I paid the difference between what the insurance would have paid, and the Paul Davis project manager arranged for the flooring installers to install it and the laminate floor at the same time. Shortly after that, I was contacted by the flooring installers who set a time a date for the replacement of the floors. They showed up on time and with the right materials. They were extremely professional and the floors looked great when they were done. The Paul Davis project manager sent a team in a couple of days later to finish up the remainder of the repairs. During the last of the repair process, the repair team thought they smelled a gas leak and, on their own, shut off the gas and called in a plumber. The plumber showed up within a hour and found a bad connection on the stove He repaired it, turned the gas back on and verified that the system was safe. That was a great call and excellent service by the Paul Davis team. The whole time the repairs were in progress, the Paul Davis manager, John Rogers, made sure that I and the insurance adjuster were informed and in sync. From my perspective, the whole project could not have gone easier or had better results. I would definitely use these guys again!

Our home is nearly 100 years old, and they took great care to replace the Arts and Crafts details that are so important to a house of this style and era. Their work on our home went beyond "repair" to a true artisan quality. The price was a bit on the high side (fortunately, our homeowner's insurance helped with that) but I would hire them again for any repair or renovation job where craftsman-like work and professionalism are called for!
Description of Work: Paul Davis Restoration was hired to repair pretty much our entire entryway, which was heavily damaged when thieves broke in by kicking in the door. Ironically, the door was one that Paul Davis had put in for us the previous year, and it was of such high quality that the break-in which damaged the frame, walls, and masonry of the entrance didn't put a scratch on the door! Paul Davis sent a carpenter the day of the break-in to board up and secure our entry until we could schedule the larger repair, and they expedited our repair schedule as well. Paul Davis Restoration basically rebuilt the entire frame and threshold of the front door, repaired the damaged masonry around the door, re-plastered the shattered wall where the door had struck when it was kicked in with such force, rebuilt the threshold, and repainted everything. When they were done, it was impossible to tell that there had been any damage at all.

+ -1 moreTheir service was good. They had one subcontractor who was not the greatest, but he was okay. It was not their fault because they never use a subcontractor, and I could not blame them for that. I had a good experience with them. I will use them again if I had a problem.

We contacted them regarding the damage from the ice storm and they sent out an estimator from their North Indy office to do an estimate. The estimator showed up promptly at the appointed time and surveyed the work needing to be done by walking through the insurance ajdusters report. In the midst of completing an estimate for us a series of severe storms in the area necessitated the Indy North office to transfer the project to the Indy South office, They were inundated with jobs for people with severe damage that took priority over our stabilized situation. The transition went smoothly and I was contacted by Chip from the South office to meet and review the project. Chip worked closely with the adjuster and actually reduced the overall scope of the work required by doing a thorough analysis of the damaged areas. What the adjuster had specified as a complete hardwood floor refinishing operation turned into a half hour of work by a flooring professional to close the gaps in some boards that had swelled when wet. The painters they provided were professional and did a good job of matching the multiple colors of wall and woodwork they had to work with. The drywall repairs are invisible and ceiling areas were refinished to match the existing textures. All the workers were conscientious and cleaned up after their jobs were finished.
Description of Work: Provided estimates for the repair of drywall damaged by water from ice dams. Worked with our insurance adjuster to clarify details on the repairs. Provided drywall, interior painting, and carpentry workers to complete the repairs.

Job was performed satisfactorely. Except for the tear out, the job was subcontracted to people that were professionals in their field. For the most part all the individuals did great work. I only had an issue with the drywall and carpet contractors. The Drywall contractor was extremely messy leaving a terrible mess for the painting contractor to cleanup. The Carpet contractor installed carpet that he stated was his "best". Unfortunately, the carpet started "loosing" fibers. Some can be expected, but this problem continues to this day.

As a result of roof damage, Paul Davis Restoration was contacted for a bid for repair. The representative forgot and missed the first scheduled appointment. The representative was one hour late for the second scheduled appointment. Three weeks went by without any communication. I was contacted a week later and told that pictures needed to be taken before the bid could be completed. The representative didn't seem interested in the job. The job was given to someone else, and within three days the roof was repaired.

Mike contacted the roofer for me, Coomer Roofing who also happens to be on your list as well. He explained to me what they should do but also went a step further telling me that a roofer should never ask for money up front and if they do it should be a nominal percentage. He explained everything and how it should work so I would not be taken advantage of, he also said that Coomer was a great company and I checked and they were. This past April we had a bad hail storm and my brothers home had severe roof damage and he kept calling to get a restoration service to come out but they could not come right away, I remembered Mike and called him and though they were busy, as he had done work for me before he said he would be out that day and he was and he got tarp right up which is a good thing as my brothers roof now needs replaced. The roofers who came out eventually commented on how great a job Mike did with tarping and keeping away any further damage. I was very pleased.
Description of Work: Back in March I had to call them to mitigate my damage from a bad storm and I spoke with Mike Kozinsky from this location and he was extremely nice and explained everything. We made an appointment and he even showed up early as he said he likes to be on time and was dressed very professionally. He put tarp up and explained that a roofer would need to come out to determine the damage.
