About us

Est.1986, we are family-owned & operated, located in Lawrence, just south of Geist Reservoir. Our company has the following divisions: retail garden center, wholesale nursery(over 100 acres of farm land), re-wholesale nursery, commercial/public installation & maintenance, residential design-build, and consulting. Residential estimates are generally performed within 1 week of initial contact. Committed jobs are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. With a staff of 7-10 employees, we tend to book up fast since we perform all work by our own forces. In the rare case of sub-contracting, we utilize providers from our own trusted peer network. Most work requires a 25% deposit for mobilization. Depending on the situation, partial financing options may be available. We install year-round. Our retail garden center is open to the public and has an extensive selection of the freshest trees, shrubs, perennials, and annual flowers that are all hardy to Indiana. We also carry bulk mulch, topsoil, compost, straw, stone, boulders, cobbles, and garden art. Delivery and tree installation are available upon request. Summer & Winter hours for garden center and nursery operations are subject to change. E-mail is highly encouraged for all inquiries. Otherwise, please call for appointment.

Services we offer

Our residential services consist of high-end estate design-build($25k-$150k), typical residential(average range $2k to $15k), and retail garden center sales. We are owner-operators(landscape architect, civil&structural engineer) who directly supervise all projects on site. We are well known for our natural stone work(retaining walls and water features) and large specimen plant material. In addition, we fully support 'do-it-your-selfers' in regards to layout, materials, and delivery.

Services we don't offer

Generally speaking, we do not offer typical lawn maintenance services below $1,000 such as lawn cutting, weeding, pruning, leaf removal, bed clean-up, snow removal, etc.

They have the best quality plants, I love their hanging baskets! I've searched about every nursery in the city and price and quality Paradise is the best. I've found $25 baskets there that other places would charge $50-$60 for. I don't live close to them, but go out of my way to use them. Highly recommend!

We have never gotten another communication from Paradise or John. That is rude and unprofessional. No phone call or email.
Description of Work: John came out to look at what we wanted done. He came out promptly and had some good ideas. Unfortunately, he was going out of the country two days later for about three weeks. We were in no hurry and he said he would get a plan to us before he left and that he would be available through email while he was gone. The next day we went by the nursery (as he suggested) to look at some of the possibilities. John was at the post office and would call us.

I apologize for your frustrations. The timing couldn't have been worse in regards to the estimate and tying up all loose ends before my business trip seminar overseas. I did not have access to my phone and had sporadic internet access in addition to not having your contact information. I have just gotten back to the US and still have all of your project notes. Getting in touch with you was on top of my to-do list when I had returned. Please advise if you still want a quote. FYI, we are a small family seasonal business with limited office staff . I am not in the business of making excuses, but I am solely in charge of estimates, and I was literally out of the country without your contact information. I am human and not perfect; the mistake I probably made was over-promising on the delivery estimate when I had too much going on. Please acknowledge that I spent considerable time on my part to set up a site visit and actually come out face-to-face to impart advice at no out-of-pocket cost to you. I apologize again and hope that my advice may help you in your re-landscaping project.

First of all, John was extremely helpful. He spent a lot of time with my wife and I and answered all of our questions. There was no pressure, no hype - just down to earth, relaxed and informative service. The reason for my visit: I had an issue with one of John's competitors. I anxiously waited three weeks for a tree to be delivered. However, the day the tree was promised - after coordinating 811, mulch delivery and bed cleaning, I found out I would have to wait another week for the tree. Frustrated, I decided to visit Paradise Landscaping. John got me the tree I wanted and had it in the ground by the next day. John also supplied six hydrangeas, a rose bush and potting soil and still came in with a price below what I was going to pay for the tree that never came. I enthusiastically recommend Paradise Landscape and Nursery!
Description of Work: Answered several questions, sold me a tree and several shrubs, installed the tree the next day.

The visit with John at their nursery was enjoyable. He was friendly, professional, and thorough. The installation of the new trees happened when I was away from home but I was pleasantly surprised to see the result and the nice clean up they did before leaving my property.
Description of Work: I lost three Emerald Green Arborvitae trees along my property line. I visited the nursery, worked with John Choi to determine exactly what I needed, then his crew delivered and installed the new trees and removed the dead ones.

Description of Work: If you're looking for an Ivy-educated nurseryman, who not only knows his plant materials, but has a keen eye for design, and an exceptional ability to communicate with the client in his/her vision for a landscape design and installation project, then look no further! This Cornell-educated landscaping/nursery owner out on Pendleton Pike is not only smart, he's got good business skills, and tremendous people skills. Plus, he has some of the best plant material to select from in the greater Indy metro area. I'm a Harvard-trained landscape architect, who purchased and renovated a home here on the N.E. side of Indy, and I purchased all of my plant materials from Paradise Nursery, and used them to install all of them, plus assisted me w/sculpting various berms around the property. John's staff is expert in their installation skills, and John even re-planted a 15' tall spruce that I had purchased a year prior, that had failed due to last summer's drought. AT NO COST TO ME! Don't choose someone else who doesn't have the plant knowledge credentials, or who doesn't have the customer-orientation that Paradise Nursery has. Choose John Choi! You won't be disappointed. Also fun to meet his entire family, who work along side this plant genius!

Description of Work: I happened to find Paradise Nursery while driving to another destination, but was drawn in by seeing all of the mature B&B plants located along side his property fencing. That accidental stop ended up turning into an amazing new landscape installation at my home in Indianapolis. Happy accident!Immediately upon meeting the proprietor, John Choi, I felt instantly comfortable with his plant knowledge, ability to envision what it was I was looking to achieve, and was able to set up an installation date within a very short timeframe. John's work staff was similarly highly qualified and professional, and worked long hours to install the plants exactly as I had laid them out. Expertise, professionalism, and personality. An amazing combination of skills for this Cornell-graduate of the Landscape Program. I'm a landscape designer, with a graduate degree from Harvard University. I would highly recommend Paradise Nursery for your smallest or largest job. What started out to be a 'minor landscape improvement' ended up being a fairly major one, including installation fo 10 ft. plus evergreens and birch clumps, as well as the planting of over 400 perennials, shrubs, and groundcover, and spreading of 30 cu. yds. of mulch. Oh, and I now have wooden Chinese warrior, purchased at Paradise Nurseries, overseeing the protection and continued health and beauty of my new landscape.No worries, John's got it covered!

My wife and I stopped in to look for landscaping ideas. We were met by John Choi and he provided great information and suggestions but wasnt pushy and didnt hover over us while we looked. We ended up seeing 2 trees and a 2700lbs rock that we really liked. John worked with us on the price, delivery and install and made it easy.John came out to our house in the evening after supper and had me mark the exact location for the trees and the rock and he went right to work. After the installation John took the time to answer my many landscaping questions and then he thoroughly cleaned up the work site and left.I would highly recommend John and plan to use his services again very soon.

I visited Paradise and was helped by John. I initially wanted red maples, however, after describing to John where the trees were going to be placed he made a few other suggestions. Because the ground was in a low lying area, John suggested a couple birch options. I decided to go with a burgundy leafed birch, with white bark on the stems. These trees provided the variety necessary to thrive in wet soil and had the curb appeal I needed for the front yard. John gave me a fair price on both the trees and the installation so I decided to have him do the entire project. The trees were nearly 15 to 20 feet tall and had rather large root ball making it very difficult to both, dig holes, and plant. John's team of experts got right to work. They were careful to not disturb any of my existing landscaping. While planting they took great pride in making sure each tree was just right. After the job was complete they clean up all areas and gave me instructions on how to care for my new trees. The job could have not been any smoother from start to finish. I plan on using them again in the near future.
Description of Work: I needed several trees to create a screen between my house and the neighbors. I also wanted an accent tree near the garage area. Because of the size of the trees, I also need John to deliver and install.

They an excellent job, and it was a wonderful experience. I wish every contractor was this good. He was easy to work with, and it was a pleasant experience.
Description of Work: They helped with a major drainage problem. They also did major landscaping, irrigation, design & plant installation. They also put in a huge flower bed, and walk way.

John Choi was busy as a one-armed wallpaper hanger but gave me all the time I requested for interview, plant description and suggestions, plus sales. The workers were more than friendly and accommodating and the stock was BEAUTIFUL!
Description of Work: On my first visit to this easy to find nursery , I purchased retail perennials i had searched for everywhere and received expert advice from a friendly knowledgable staff contracting future landscape work--Suggestions and advice were worth every penny! Hard to find items in stock and are displayed attractively for garden ideas.!

We've been looking for a replacement for a tree that died last season, and decided on a Kwanzaan Cherry tree. After a good bit of unsuccessful searching (every tree we found was too small), we discovered Paradise on Angie's List and gave them a call. John Choi (manager) not only had the tree in the size we wanted, he emailed a picture to save us a trip to the nursery, and offered same-day delivery and installation at a very competitive price. The crew arrived at the appointed time and fought through the root system of the old tree to prepare an appropriate spot to plant the new tree (in the rain). They installed the tree. cleaned up the area, left watering and care instructions, and even left some discount coupons for future purchases at the Nursery. John followed up with us to make certain we were happy with the job, and was very friendly and helpful throughout the process (plus, he's a Cubs fan). The tree looks beautiful and we'll certainly make Paradise our first call for future needs.

We were very pleased with the service we received from Paradise Nursery. Mr. Choi, helped us decide what plants would be suit our needs and offered us great advice on how to maintain the plants. The plants we purchased have been very healthy and even did well during the drought last year. Mr. Choi even ordered a tree that he did not have without hesitation and contacted us upon its arrival. Come over to Paradise several times in effort to purchase trees/plants for our yard. None of the items at the facility had prices on them. It was almost impossible to get any assistance and only a few workers spoke enough english to to give you a price. I made several calls to John the Sales Manager to get get pricing and only one was returned and he said he was on the road and would call when he got back to the site but I never heard back from him. The owner(I assume it was the owner, it was John's father) came over to our house to look at our property and come up with a plan for landscaping, he said he would call in a couple weeks with pricing and a plan. I never got a call back. I finally had enough and went to another landscaper.

Member, I'm sorry your experience was unpleasant. Our retail division opened in 2007; our main business has been commercial installation and (re) wholesale nursery sales. If trees didn't have any pricing, they were already earmarked for jobs and were not for sale. In regards to communication, we do speak english here. Please be cognizant that the owners are immigrants and have actually lived longer here in the U.S. than their home country. The majority of customers understand the owners with no problems whatsoever. Maybe you had difficulty understanding their respective slight accents or were unaccustomed to seeing a non-caucasian face. I myself was born and raised in Indianapolis and am readily fuent in english as well as spanish. Over the years, we have been making constant improvements to our retail garden center. I would argue that 2012 might be our best year too date. I welcome you to come back if you have further needs for your yard, so that we can ensure that you have a more pleasant experience.
