It worked out fine. There were no issues. They were on time, did what they said they would do, and everything worked afterwords.

My garage door broke late on a Friday evening. I called Overhead Door early Saturday morning (6/21) and spoke with a woman at the office who was very courteous and professional. She informed me that my door was still under warranty. She put me on the schedule with a window between 8am-12pm. She had a technician out to my house within a couple hours. The technician, Mike, was very thorough and helpful. He called 30 minutes before arriving, as all of the technicians do. He discovered that the motor had been installed and set incorrectly, causing the gears to be stripped inside the motor. He did not have a motor with him, as they do not carry those on service calls. Nonetheless, he lubricated my door and provided me with a copy of the paperwork he would submit when he got back to the office. He asked me to call the office first thing Monday morning to make sure that the paperwork was received and to confirm my follow-up appointment time because they can be very busy on Mondays. He wanted me to make sure my paperwork wasn't lost in the fray. I called the office first thing Monday (6/23) morning (8:05am). I was connected to the residential services line and had to leave a message. At 10:30am, 2 and a half hours later, I still had not received a call back. I called the office again. The receptionist recognized my voice, took down my information and assured me that the next available person would be returning my call. At 3:30pm, 5 hours later, I STILL had not received a call back. I called a third time and was connected to the manager of residential services. She could not immediately find my work order and asked to call me back shortly. About 15 minutes later, she called and confirmed that I was on the schedule for Wednesday between 12pm and 5pm. The technician would call 30 minutes prior to arrival, just as Mike did. I was surprised at the 5 hour window, but didn't question it. I assumed it was industry standard. I also did not let her know about how difficult it was to get a hold of someone that day. It is now Wednesday at 4pm (6/25). I have been waiting the afternoon for a call. Given that they close at 5, I called the office to see when the technician would be arriving. I spoke to Heather in residential services who could not find a work order for me. She informed me that I was not on the schedule to begin with. I told her I had spoken to someone on Monday who confirmed that I was scheduled for Wednesday between 12 and 5. She apologized and said that I was never on the schedule. I asked her if there was a way I could have been taken off the schedule and she did not see how that could happen with out notifying me first. She was very apologetic and said she would have me on the schedule for the next day, Thursday (6/26), between 12pm and 5pm with a 30 minute call ahead. It is now Thursday at 4pm (6/26). I still have not received a call. I called the office and asked to speak directly with Heather. She was not available, so I had to leave a message on her voice mail to call me back about the situation. I did not receive a call from neither the technician nor Heather before the office closed on Thursday at 5pm. By this point I have had 2 confirmed appointments schedule but have had no one show. I called the office back around 9am Friday morning (6/27). I wanted to give the office a chance to contact me first since I had done virtually all the calling up until this point, so I waited for an hour after they opened, but still received no call. I asked for Heather again and the call went to her voice mail. I hung up and immediately called back and asked for the manager of residential services. Remember, this is the same person who I spoke with on Monday who confirmed my first appointment for Wednesday between 12pm-5pm. She was not immediately available either. I was forced to leave a voice mail for her as well. I will confess, i was quite irate at this point. Having waited through 2 five hour windows for appointments that never showed and having to call over and over in order to speak with someone directly. The message I left her accurately reflected my state of emotions about how terrible the service was thus far. The manager called me back about 25 minutes later. She apologized and said she was, "staring at a work order for me right now." I told her great and asked her what happened the first two times. She did not have an answer. She again told me she had a work order for me for today (Friday). I asked her again, directly, that when I spoke to her on Monday and she confirmed that someone was going to be out on Wednesday, why did no one show? She again dodged the question, repeated that someone would be out today to fix my door. At no point did she take responsibility for the first appointment she scheduled for me. She again assured me that there was a work order in for today between (guess what?) 12pm and 5pm. She said that she would try and get someone out to my home sooner if she could. As if I would believe that as this point. I get a call from Heather at 3pm. She updates me that I am still on the schedule but the technician may not make it to my home until after 5pm. I almost put my fist through my wall. They have made me wait for 2 full afternoons and now tell me its going to be another full afternoon and then some. I don't understand how, after being treated this way for the entire week, they feel that it is acceptable that I be put at the bottom of the list and not made a priority. I chose not to confront her, I just told her to get someone to my home to fix the problem. Shortly after 4pm, I received another call from someone new, I don't remember her name, but she asked if I still required service on my door. I thought to myself, are you joking? This is unreal how disconnected this office is. I told her yes, I am still waiting for a technician to call. She apologized and said she would contact the technician right away to see when he would be arriving. I hold for a moment and she informs me that he is on his way. Shortly after I get off the phone with her, the technician, Tad, calls me and confirms my address. He arrives within 10 minutes. I give him no attitude as I know he is not responsible for the schedule. He replaces my garage motor and ensures everything is in working order. He was quick and professional. I asked him before he left if I was on his schedule when he started the day or if I was added later on. He told me that I was added after he had started for the day and had to return to pick up the replacement motor he just installed for me. I thanked him for his help and his flexibility. He left right around 5pm with my door in perfect working order. In closing, this is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. It is almost impossible to talk with someone on the first try. I waited over 8 hours for a call back the Monday I called to confirm my appointment. When problems arise, explanations are rarely available and those responsible are hesitant to take responsibility. The only saving grace they have is that their technicians do great work and are good people. It's a shame that people need to wade though a gauntlet in order to get good service. I have tried to rationalize why I was not treated as a priority after being put off and the only thing I could come up with is maybe warranty jobs are put to the bottom of the list. Either way, it doesn't matter much as I will never be using this company again.

When our garage door stopped closing over the weekend, I quickly realized it was something bigger than just adjusting the eye beams. I noticed our garage door opener was an Overhead Door brand and called the number listed. I knew the company was big and wasn't sure if the experience would be positive or not. I was very impressed from start-to-finish. I called first-thing on a Monday. I explained the problem, was given an estimate over the phone and had someone scheduled to stop by later that morning. By 9:30 I received a 30-minute courtesy call and met Nate at my house. (He was there just two hours after I called, which was an impressive response time.) Nate was professional and courteous. He quickly assessed and fixed the eye beams, and swapped out my old keypad for a new one. He walked me through programming it and how to use the new keypad. He also looked at my garage door and opener and gave me insights into the quality of materials and future options should I need to replace them. Finally he noticed my door was squeaking and did a quick lube of everything. His attention to detail, knowledge, service and courtesy were outstanding. In less than 45-minutes I went from having no real opinion of Overhead Door to being a future evangelist. Very impressive all around!

Very well. He arrived when the company said he would. The repairman's ingenuity saved me about $600 because he didn't have to replace the unit after all.
Description of Work: My garage door wouldn't open and the pull rope was missing. The repairman thought he was going to have to replace the whole unit to the tune of $600; but then found that he could replace the broken clip with one he had in his truck. My unit is old enough to not have parts available any longer, but he had some on his truck and could fix the clip.

Overhead Doors installed the garage door in my home but they could not provide emergency service when I needed it. I called Thursday night around 9:00pm and talked to the technician on call but he said it would be too expensive for me if he came at that time. He said I could call at 7:00 the next morning and they would get someone out to get it worked on so I could be at work at noon on Friday. I called at 7:00 but they weren't open till 7:30. I called at 7:30 and was told it wouldn't be until the afternoon that someone could get out. I had to have the door repaired so I could leave on vacation on Saturday and I had to be at work Friday so I could leave for vacation on Saturday. I would hesitate to call this company again.

Great. 1 of the springs broke over a Holiday weekend. We called them Tuesday morning and they made the repairs the same day. The tech was very professional. He replaced both torsion springs and serviced the rest of the door in about 1 hour. I give 2 thumbs for the Techs. quality work Five stars to Overhead Door.

I had called when it was after hours. They were able to help me get the door fixed over the phone. I had described what was going on and he knew exactly what the issue was. He saved me a trip and a ton of money. I had them come out and do a preventive maintenance in the spring because of that incident.

I called just after their office opened. The original wait on hold was over 6 minutes. Once answered by the proper staff member, I was scheduled for same-day service. They called to let me know the repairman was on the way. He arrived, diagnosed, repaired, and made recommendations for future consideration. Outstanding job!

Answered the phone right away, I set up an appointment and they came out that day. The gentleman, Brian i believe, called me to let me know he was on his way and showed up in the time frame I was told over the phone. He took one look at my garage door opener and noticed the gear was stripped, which explains why the door would not open. He called to see if the part was available and found out they no longer had it in stock b/c it was a older model that was no longer made. So, he explained that a new opener was needed and did a great job explaining the different models available. I appreciated the no pressure and through explanation of the pros and cons with each model. Since i was expecting to fix the opener, I was not in a position to spend as much as a new opener cost. However, I was pleased to find out that since they did not have the part available and he could not repair my opener, there was no charge for them to come out. I'm pretty handy and a DIY'er, so I ended up installing a new garage door opener myself. However, I would have no problem recommending this company to any family member or friend.

Brad from Overhead Door came out and gave us an estimate for the replacement of our existing overhead garage door. The replacement door was not the usual size so it took approximately two weeks for the door to be ordered and then arrive. Door was installed fine and worked great. However, I was not pleased with the wood work of the replacement of the side casing boards by the door installer. Talked to Brad and he arranged for the wood worker John to redo the side casing boards a week and a half after door was installed. I am very pleased with the final results and John was very nice to work with. We have used this company exclusively for overhead door repairs for approximately 15 years. I was very pleased that they put forth the extra effort to make sure that I was happy with the door replacement.

It went wonderfully. I will have them back here pretty soon. When we have them come back, our continuing gave us a discount because we're with them. It worked all along. This was the third year that they had come. Their cost is not unreasonable at all plus, they guarantee it. If something isn't right, they could replace that. They're just really good.

Installer was extremely professional and worked until the job was done with only a couple of water breaks (took about 5 hours). He did apologize for arriving later than I was told - due to the fact he had to cover other jobs for other employees who did not come to work as expected. But kudos to the company for making sure I had the doors on the day I was promised. The doors look great and work beautifully, well worth the delay arriving! He did have one trim piece that he needs to redo and assured me that it will be replaced shortly with a contact to me from the company. I will contact the company just to follow up on scheduling the trim piece.

The repairman was punctual within the window given to us. I was worried that we would need to replace the door as there was a hole where the door opener arm connected to the garage door. He was able to repair it by putting a metal plate over the hole and reconnecting the opener to the door. He was done with the repair within 10 minutes. He then proceeded to lube both doors as they were very loud and rough.
Description of Work: Reconnected the garage door opener to the garage door by putting a metal plate over the hole where the opener pulled out of the door. He also lubed both doors thoroughly so they worked smoother.

My opener went out in late January during the cold weather. I called Overhead Door since I have used them most recently in purchasing several security doors. It took several days to have someone come out but I understood given the weather situation. The service tech provided an estimate to either purchase a part to in the old opener which was installed in the 1980s or what it would be to purchase a new opener. I went with the new opener option since it seemed reasonable. I received an appointment on the schedule for about a week later which again was fine given they were behind due to the weather. When the service tech came out to install the opener, it was a different tech than had done the initial estimate. He now recommended a new door since he didn't feel the opener would work with the very old door on the garage. I was disappointed this hadn't been assessed in the first service call. He provided an estimate and asked the scheduler to get me on the installation list for that week. The service tech also put a handle on my old door so I could lift it up more easily which I appreciated since the opener still wasn't working. Unfortunately I didn't receive an installation appointment until the next week so I was without an opener and a new door for another week. The installers were good and everything went fine during the installation process. The opener is their brand name which I am unfamiliar with but there is a warranty. The door is a standard door, nothing special since my garage is detached.

They were able to come out over the weekend because it was for the rental property in Indianapolis as I live in Virginia. It was freezing cold. My tenant couldn't get his car out. The only problem I had was that they promised to call me and tell me what time they would be there the next morning. They did not call me and I had to call them to find out what time is on the schedule. They were definitely expensive. I had the same type of work done in my own home from Angie's List provider and they were probably twice as expensive as the other provider. I called the other guy first and he didn't do weekend work. They were responsive.
