Mister Sparky

During a stressful time for us, we were very pleased with the way that this company did business.

I asked for an electrician to replace a new ceiling fan that did not work out of the box. The replacement fan was identical to the new one installed about two weeks prior. The first installation was via an Angies List deal at $145 plus the cost of a new ceiling box ($109.) When the Mister Sparky electrician arrived, he looked at his price sheet and quoted $365! And that was with my service contract discount!! No thanks, I'll look for another Angies List deal.

Eduardo was fantastic. He was very professional and knowledgeable about his work. I will always call Mr Sparky for all my electrical needs.

Tech explained it was going to cost $419.00. I said no way. I thought that rate was a complete rip off. He proceeded to charge me $49.00 for nothing. When I called I asked the lady for a quote to which she said she didn't have that info. Had I known the estimated cost I would have never scheduled the appointment. I did know about the $49 service fee, but again had I been given an estimated quote I would have never scheduled the appointment. I feel like they stole $49 from me because the tech showed up with a price guide gave me a rate in less than 5 minutes. No reason why the lady on the phone could not have that same rate sheet and give an estimate. It felt like her job was to get the tech to my house and no matter what money was going to be made. I plan on never using Mr. Sparky or Benjamin Franklin plumbing again unless they change their sales tactics. I hope it was worth $49.00.

1. We called the office and set up the appointment for the service, I explained exactly what needed to be done. They were familiar with our home as they had recently installed new fuse boxes. They did NOT TELL ME THAT IT WAS JUST AN ESTIMATOR COMING. I TOOK THE DAY OFF EXPECTING THE WORK TO BE DONE. 2. Scheduled an appointment for the service to be done. The service man arrived and I showed him all that needed to be done. He did NOT HAVE ANY OF THE EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO INSTALL THE PLUGS OR MOVE THE LIGHT FIXTURE. NOR DID HE HAVE TIME TO GET HE EQUIPMENT HE NEEDED. He was very nice, polite, and apologetic, however this did not solve my problem. 3. Attempted to call the office and also researched another electrical company. THERE WERE NO DIRECT LINES INTO THE OFFICE. YOU HAD TO LEAVE A MESSAGE WITH SCHEDULERS. After my 2nd call to schedulers I received a call from management. I explained the lack of organization within the group and the inability to bring the correct equipment to the servicing. He offered a large discount. I accepted. 4. Scheduled another appointment which I needed to cancel due to emergency. 5. They showed up to the appointment I had cancelled. I stayed home to finally get the work done. (we had already delayed a month to buy our washer and dryer). Eddie came. He had worked on installing our fuse box and I found him exceptionally trustworthy. I was glad to see him. He had an assistant who helped and they had the work done without any hassles or problems. 6. Eddie did explain to me the process of moving my light fixture, which hadn't been done before. I knew by his description I would NOT want it. Eddie was exceptional. As a rating for him I would give him an A! Also Eddie's assistant I would give an A! The man who came the second time without equipment (whose name I have unfortunately forgotten) I would also rate an A. The company, I would rate a C. Communication between sales/schedulers and management and workers is a joke and probably non-existent as shown by lack of equipment and coming on a appointment that had be cancelled days before!!! BEWARE IF YOU HIRE THEM!

Eduardo arrived exactly when scheduled. He was courteous and knowledgeable. Installation went incredibly fast. He was neat, cleaned up and even hauled away boxes. Very good experience. We will definitely use Mr. Sparky in the future!

Everything went perfect!

Even though they were available to come out the same day, they didn't even attempt the repair. The service tech claimed the circuit breaker box was in poor condition and it needed replaced before any service work could be completed. That's their policy. An estimate of almost $2500 was given for a circuit breaker box replacement (let alone another almost $300 to diagnose the actual circuit issue). Checked online for national averages and this estimate was well over the average. Called a competitor and not only did they fix the circuit in under an hour without requiring a new breaker box (difference in opinion apparently), the estimate they gave for the breaker box replacement was $1000 under Mister Sparky. After this experience, it felt like Mister Sparky didn't want to do the initial repair work, gave an iffy recommendation for the need of a new breaker box, and the estimate they gave was way overpriced. Will probably never call Mister Sparky again even though they are affiliated with our HVAC service agreement.

No one has ever shown up to this appointment. I called several times to find out where the provider was. I spoke with a supervisor who said that he would reschedule me and apologized. I got off the phone to check my schedule and called back. When I called back no one knew what I was talking about. I just ended it. Seems like their scheduling dept doesn't know what is going on. The schedulers need to be able to contact the technicians so they can get a better idea of where they are as far as timing.

It was horrible! I would never ever use that company again. The circuit breaker that runs my washing machine kept popping so I called them to see what was going on and so the electrician comes out and he supposedly tested and he says it's not the circuit breaker, it is the washing machine. So I pay for that, I go out and buy a new washing machine, they deliver it, they plug it in and it pops the circuit breaker. So I called another electrician and it was the circuit breaker, they replace the circuit breaker and everything is good. So I had to pay for a brand new washing machine which I did not want, did not need because of Mister Sparky, so I'm not very happy with them. They not only gave me a bad diagnosis, they cost me quite a bit of money because I trusted them and bought a new washing machine.

She was a lady electrician who came. It was part of a big job to restore the entire room.

I do remember them being excellent. They were definitely on time, reliable, and the guy was real enough.

It didn't go so well. They told me that I needed service that I actually didn't need. I called in a different electrician for a consultation and he looked at my box. He told me that I needed an entirely new box, its like I didn't have a 2/20 box and this one told me that I did have it and he went ahead and just put another little slot for the furnace, that was all I needed. He actually installed another breaker. He told me that I needed an entirely new box and was going to charge me an exorbitant amount and I still had their quote and it wasn't anything like that. He didn't charge anything for the estimate because he was doing it in conjunction with me getting a furnace. He was actually working with the furnace company.

They did a good job. I was satisfied with them. They got the job done and it was fine. I'd use them again. Their workmanship and the time-frame to get it done stood out.

I would say the work turned out fair. Not poor, but not great. The reason why I am saying fair is that it was a lot more money it probably cost about $200. The price seemed very high for what he did and I also asked the guy about something else. He did not seem too interested in messing with that so we both kind of just let it go. I would say fair overall. The responsiveness was good.
