I live in Indianapolis. Bought a piano from sister's co-worker in New Palestine. The prior owners reported that the movers showed up right on time, and had piano loaded and out the door in about five minutes. Their report mirrored my own experience. The movers came in, had piano loaded and in place in about the same time. Piano arrived without problems in tuning, and without a scratch. Seemed really efficient and professional I had to move a dinette set to make room for the piano, but wasn't able to get it out into the garage by myself; as a bonus, they took table apart, moved it into garage, and reassembled it for no charge. Overall, very happy with the service, and would definitely use them again.

I requested a quote for moving a Baby Grand piano - the piano fell through on my end, but they were very courteous and prompt in our messages back and forth. I also had another Service Provider actually recommend them when I was emailing around for quotes!

They did a great job of moving our piano - came with three people to do the job and were very careful in moving it so that there was no damage. They did the job for the price they had quoted us. They arrived on time and were very personable and professional. They also moved the piano bench. We definitely would use them again.

I called on a Tuesday and they were able to move an upright player piano on Thursday. They arrived on time at my friend's house. They took great care with the piano but were also very fast. They knew exactly what they were doing. They called me after loading the piano to inform me that they were on there way. They were friendly and professional. They moved the piano in with care and ease. I was surprised how fast they could move it while also taking care as to not damage the piano. Wonderful price and wonderful experience.

I contacted Ed in mid-December 2013 for an in house move of my upright piano and he responded back almost immediately with info. I was having my 1st floor hardwood floors refinished and wanted a professional to move my piano from my dining room to the laundry room (about 40 feet away) where it would be out of the way during the remodel. I had to change the initial move date at the last minute and Ed was very accommodating. On January 3rd his 2 employees arrived within time frame promised. I also had to change the date a few times for moving the piano back to its original room. Again, Ed was very understanding and accommodating. And once again as promised his 2 employees arrived on time on January 20th to move piano from laundry room back to dining room. I was more nervous that day due to the floors just being refinished. I purchased heavy duty upright piano castor cups and the 2 employees were great about getting them all in their right positions so the piano was as level as possible. I appreciated their courtesy and the way they handled themselves. If I needed my piano moved again I would definitely use Meridian Piano Movers in the future.

At first when I called I explained that I wanted our Steinway moved and some furniture I had to our new house. They never came out to see the amount of furniture and just gave me a price of $740 over the phone. My husband was going to have help moving some of the furniture and the help ended up not being able to come the morning of our move which we found out last minute. So, we were going to ask the movers to include more furniture and we were prepared to pay more knowing there will be more things than originally discussed. The two people who came to our house were very polite. However as I was getting ready to leave from the old house to take my sick dog to the vet on the way to the new house with a car full of stuff one of the movers gives me the phone to talk to the owner. The owner was very rude and upset because there were more things to move than originally discussed and accused me of not being truthful at the beginning about the amount of things. He told me the price now was $900 and it was not negotiable. When I tried to explain to him that we didn't know until the same morning the help we were expecting didn't come and that I may have fogotten to mention a few items originally he told me the price now was $950. I asked him why he changed the price that was not negotiable a minute ago he said because I was arguing with him. He was basically extorting money from us last minute knowing that we couldn't change our plans and I had told him that I was in my car on my way to take my sick dog to the vet on top of that. So, basically we were STUCK with a very "unprofessional" company who although the two men who moved our furniture were very professional and polite and did a very good job we can not say the same for the owner of the company. The owner came himself and moved our things too to help out because we had a lot of things but that just made things more uncomfortable for us. Hope people will read this story and the owner will learn not to repeat this unethical business technique. We will not hire them again only because the owner's behavior and will not recommend the company to anyone.

Response from Meridian Piano Movers
I am very sorry that Mrs. [member name removed] is not happy. Over the past ten years, our firm has moved over 10,000 pianos without a complaint to the Better Business Bureau or to Angies’ List. Our goal is to treat every client with the utmost respect, and to provide the VERY BEST service. I would like to add some additional perspective to the situation. On October 11th, Mrs. [member name removed] asked for a quote to move their Steinway grand piano, and household furnishings including one King bedroom set with headboard, two end tables, a dresser, one dining room table with 6 chairs, and one sofa-recliner. She stated that the bedroom furnishings were on the second floor, coming down to the first floor. These items were quoted at a total of $620.00. Mrs. [member name removed] wanted an additional quote to have us also move a washer, dryer, refrigerator, water softener, and freezer, which I quoted at an additional $180.00 (for a total of $800.00.) At that time, she declined the proposal to have the appliances moved by us, but wanted us to proceed with the piano and household furnishings only. We set a moving date of November 4th. On November 4th our crew called prior to their arrival to let the client know that we were on our way and that we were on time. They arrived at the agreed upon time, expecting to move only the piano and the household furnishings. When our crew arrived, Mrs. [member name removed] informed our men that she wanted them to move all of the appliances, as well as an additional bedroom set, a complete office suite with desk and two full file cabinets, and two additional book cases. Furthermore, all of the bedroom furnishings and the office furnishings were located on the third floor (not on the second floor as Mrs. [member name removed] had originally stated). This was clearly many more items, many more steps, and many more man hours than had been agreed to on October 11th. My phone conversation with Mrs. [member name removed] that day was a bit direct and pointed, to say the least. She had presented us with a very awkward position at the time. I explained to Mrs. [member name removed] that, with the additional steps and additional items, we would need to charge $900 for the total move. And, as she has correctly stated, I did raise the price to $950 when she proceeded to argue about the price, the number of stairs and the additional items added to the move at the last minute. For Mrs. [member name removed] to use the term “extortion” is baseless and a complete distortion of fact. With the additional items and stairs, the move would take much longer than originally planned. In order to accommodate this client’s needs, we quickly re-arranged our entire schedule for two days and added two more men to the move. We worked very late that evening and into the next day (not as planned) to complete the work safely and efficiently, and in a timely manner, and to make every effort to please the client. At the end of the move, Mrs. [member name removed] husband kindly gave each member of our crew a generous tip. Again, I am very sorry that Mrs. [member name removed] is upset. We simply tried to do our best to deal with an unexpected set of circumstances and get the job done to the client’s satisfaction. Sincerely, Ed Bloemker Owner Meridian Piano Movers

Everything was smooth and easy from start to finish. I set the date and time with Ed. He explained to me how they move pianos and what they do differently than regular movers. They had originally moved the piano to our current home when I purchased it, and that went well also. Austin and another man arrived 10 minutes after the set time of 8:45 a.m. (which I was very happy about because I was running late!) He did call to tell me they were on their way, which I really appreciated. It was raining, so they covered the piano with a moving blanket. They also put a blanket on the carpet. I watched them put it in the van. They covered both the piano and bench with blankets and secured them very well. They put the piano where I asked them to at the new house, I paid the amount Ed had told me it would be and they were on their way. They were also nice and polite. I would definitely use Meridian again.

I was very pleased from the first contact with Ed from Meridian. He was very pleasant, professional, and efficient. He answered my questions without hesitation. The guys that actually moved the piano did exactly what Ed said would happen as far as calling when on their way, and when they were 30 minutes away. They were a few minutes early arriving. They were very clean, pleasant, and took care their surrounding while moving the piano out of my home. They were quick, efficient, and took caution with the piano. They took the piano to my son's house, and he reported the same courtesy that I experienced.

I needed a grand piano moved out of a room where new carpet would be laid and then moved back in again. They were able to come when I needed them.
