I reserved this company despite negative reviews (what was I thinking!). I received a very competitive quote from them. The sales person (linda) started contacting my everyday by email and phone to convince me to book it. They will even call you as a 'private number' hoping you will pick up the call, which I did. I spoke to Linda and reconfirmed the price, told them I will not be using any of the packing supplies. By the way, if you use any extra/unplanned packing or moving supplies that are not in the quote they will charge you 5 times the normal rate on the day of the move when you are most vulnerable. I knew this already from earlier reviews so decided NOT to use their supplies and made it clear during reservation. Linda explained that the quote including the cost of truck, ALL TRAVEL and 2 hours of loading/unloading labor at the departure and arrival destination. The quote was very good, so I confirmed if I am missing any hidden charges. I also confirmed that it covers the cost of moving my stuff in the truck from departure destination to arrival home and not just travel from their office to my home. I specifically asked her, what if your guys get stuck in traffic or take unusually longer to deliver my stuff, she replied no problem, you will only be charged for loading and unloading- not travel time from one home to the another (her exact words!). Instead of replying to emails, Linda always called me (red flag!) and confirmed that the quote included everything!!- I knew that sometime loading/unloading at the home may take some more time than normal so I was prepared to pay for ~1 hour of extra labor just in case. On the day of the move, the movers were supposed to arrive between 11-1pm. They arrived at 1:30 pm- loaded the truck in 1hr. Took 2.5 hours to reach my new home (average time is 1:30 mins), I wasn't concerned about travel time since it was covered in the original quote so I thought it won't matter how long they take to travel. Then they took 1 hr 30 mins to unload. So I thought was going to pay for extra 30 mins of labor, thats it! When I saw the bill, I was shocked to see a charge for approx $600 - almost $300 more than my original quote. They charged me for almost 6 hours of labor. I was told that the travel time' from one home to other is billed under loading and unloading. I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD READ THE ENTIRE 2 PAGE CONTRACT BEFORE SIGNING, REALLY?. I called the company (offcourse couldn't reach Linda anymore) and they said I have to make the payment no matter what as its the contract. I offcourse had to pay everything to get my stuff back, i could not have been more vulnerable at that point. These guys will also charge you 4% handling fees if you pay bY credit card, so I paid cash to avoid that. They also charged me for supplies that I never used but had asked them to bring along during reservations. I was told to contact customer service for a refund. I was paying cash, still they could not refund me for supplies charge on the bill. At this point, I was tired and sick. Worst experience ever! The actually moving guys did a good job- and I tipped them well since they deserved it, but the company is a scam. Stay away!

Per the "Wrap Up Sheet" that you filled out at the end of your move, you stated that our office staff performed "very good" the delay notification was "okay" and the rest was "excellent" with a final review of recommending Master Movers as "Poor". Please understand your move went over in the labor hours only as you were estimated for 2 hrs and went 4.5 due to the amount of items you wanted move. You requested to pay for the packing materials on the day of the move via cash, however you were not charged for any packing materials, the moving documents show you signed a waiver and did not want anything wrapped.Even with no packing supplies you confirmed that there was no damage to any of your items or property (I must say the crew did a good job). Your Travel Time from Bloomington to Carmel was charged at 1.5hrs this amount was not changed or charged at a different rate. Customer Service can send you an itemized invoice should you need it. Please also understand that once a customer moves from an estimate status to booked status in our system, our moving consultants do not have any access to your records so Linda would not have been able to help you with any of your questions. After a careful review of your moving documents I found that you were delivered within the first 10 business days of your available date. When a non-express delivery is chosen by our customers we give a timeline of 5-10 business days from the first available date. I also saw that your estimate was given to you over the phone from information you directly supplied to us, which told us you had a total of 76 items and on the day of the move between the residence and the storage facility your article list increased to 109 items. Some of your items per the information also needed packing materials. All of these factors contributed to an increase in time and price. This added cost was also reduced to keep cost at your original pricing. Being in the Moving Industry we strive to provide the most accurate information to our customers in regards to cost and services, however we can only be as accurate as the information provided to us. The sales rep that came to our home was friendly, professional, prompt, and knowledgeable. The moving crew was very polite, professional, and prompt. They also worked very, very hard. However, I question the practices of the front office. There were two days, a day for packing and a day for delivery. At the end of the packing day, I was asked to pay for that day's work which was not explained in advance. The first day's work was almost the entire total of the job. Therefore I only paid half after talking with the front office about this. On the second day, however, as they delivered to the new home I asked the front office to confirm the remaining balance. We had previously received an estimate from them with a statement saying not to exceed this estimated price. Regardless, the front office said we owed an additional $700 in packing supplies above the original not to exceed estimate. My reply was I can't help that the sales rep didn't estimate properly and I'll agree to pay what I agreed to initially pay. In the end, I only paid the original estimate but this was after a lot of back and forth. This included Master Movers temporarily holding my possessions on their moving truck until I paid. I reminded the front office I was an attorney and would need to seek legal recourse. It was at that point they agreed to stick with the original estimate. I do not recommend others use this moving company. It's unfortunate because I think the crews worked very hard.

This was my second move with Master Movers and the move went very well. I read through some of the other reviews and their concerns and took their issues and made that my advantage. For instance, you should break down all items that are to large to be moved from a room, saran wrap all breakables and any item with glass exposed. The moving guys told me I saved hundreds of dollars by doing this myself. So do it your self if you want to save money and time. If not, then have them do it, but be prepared to pay the money. Also, I underestimated how much stuff we had and only got one truck. So on the day of the move I rented another 24' foot truck and filled that to the brim as well. The job was supposed to be 7 hours, but turned into 12, because of my fault. The guys (Chris, Jose, and Emanuelle) were very polite about this and didnt have issue. I think if i was in there shoes I would have been a little p***** caused this was should have been likely a 5 man job and it was on Mother's Day, but again, these guys were the consummate pros. They never complained and handled our items with care. They did a great job and busted their butt's all day and we gave each of them a very nice tip for their hard work. With that being said, know what your moving to do a good estimate, pack your items accordingly or have them do it and expect the cost. The only quirk in their service model is they do expect full payment when they're about 90% through unloading the truck. They said this is company policy because they have a lot of people refuse payment when they get the final bill. Even though throughout the process they let you know upfront and through if you're adding expenses. This was a none issues for us, but just something to note. Matt

This the second time I have used them. I didn't even bother to call anyone else this time because of their prices and their professional services. They were honest with their prices, showed me any current dings and even gave me money back because it did not take as long as the quoted time. Good people work there, especially Luis who was there both times.

I provided the sales lady with the items we need to have moved and had her add in some packing services for items that are fragile and we no longer have the boxes. Tv's Glass items. mirrors.& mattress covers. Due to the size of the move the company arranged with us a separate day for packing. On packing day I discovered that I did not have a complete list of items and my daughter had a little over 52 additional items ( guess I should have expected that with the grandkids ) I spoke with the crew leader who informed there would be enough room between the 2 trucks to take the additional items, But it would mean more labor hours and packing materials. I understood as this was our fault for not being accurate. The next day I received a call at 8:00 from Luis informing me the crew would arrive in 30-40 minutes. at 8:45 We had 2 trucks and 4 crew members at our door. I was relieved to see all of the members dressed in uniform ( unlike the scary stories ) Luis introduced each person and then we proceeded into the house. He did a quick walk through and reminded us that one of our beloved dogs was still wondering around the house, He was afraid she might get out or get stepped on. After we secured Mary grace, Luis put each member to work while we went over the paperwork. Chris made sure to ask if I wanted to label boxes before they removed them from each room and loaded them on the truck. They disassembled the beds and moved the piano and other furniture without a single scratch. My husband had to empty the gas out of the mowers before they could load them but the crew kept busy while he was doing that. We purchased pizza for lunch and the guys stopped the clock for 20 minutes and then went straight back to work. Once we arrived at my daughters new home things moved very quickly, Chis, Luis, Jose, and Brian, had off loaded the trucks and set up the furniture, placed the boxes where they need to be placed in a enough time for my husband and I to hang a few pictures and put down some rugs so the placed looked more like a home. I never experienced any hidden fees my husband and I both read over the estimate and found everything to be spelled out and we signed the same paperwork the day of the move. I will refer Master Movers to all of my friends and coworkers and my husband plans to use you this year for a company move.

This company is dishonest and overcharged for delivery. They gave me one flat rate at the beginning and then found a way to overcharge my card to around $580. The delivery man used a special type of packaging and tape that I did not authorize to use and tried to sneak those charges onto my bill. I have been trying to contact this company for two weeks now and can't seem to get a hold of the supervisor. Apparently the supervisor there is out sick or on personal leave.
Description of Work: They delivered from a storage unit to my house. They told me it would be a flat rate of $259 for three hours.

They did not pack anything, they only moved my things. They only strictly take one payment, which was cash. They gave me a quote before the work was completed. Right before they dropped the last of my things, the driver told me I have to go to the office to get the updated costs and either get money back or pay the overages. There were 3 guys for 3 hours. They kept using packing tape on the furniture; when I asked them why they were using it, they responded that they needed it to more easily move the furniture. When I saw the break down of the charges, I noticed I paid $100 for materials, so I paid $100 for tape. There was also a break down of hours paid, when I asked them about them taking their lunch break, they said it was a paid lunch. So I had to pay for 3 guys to take an hour lunch. I had to come up with an additional $300-$400 on the spot with these extra charges. When I looked over everything, I called the office and left a message to speak with the manager, he never responded to me.

The day started out OK with the movers showing up on-time. We scheduled for 3 movers and 3 showed up but only 2 were getting anything done. The third guy was slow and didn't appear totally focused (incompetent). He was just walking around waiting on someone to tell him what to do. The guy that seemed to be the lead mover did the bulk of the work and never stopped. We should have just paid for 2 guys and put the extra money to the overtime. The truck wasn't packed right and so a lot of our things wouldn't fit, so they said it would take a second trip, that we refused, (cheaper and fasted to rent a u-haul and do it ourselves). My husband disconnected the washer and dryer (thankfully) and was then told that if they had done it there would have been an additional charge of 25.00 (that they are not supposed to tell you about) Can you say "shady"???...After unloading at the new house we are presented with a bill that has almost 300.00 in extra charges for packing supplies. First, we had boxes that could have been used to wrap TVs, no one asked us or told us that they were using theirs and they were 20.00 each!! In addition to plastic wrap (again being charged without being told or a choice) Now to the damages.....a broken mirror to my dresser ( no way they didn't see this when they brought it into the house!!) but didn't mention it and wasn't wrapping in that expensive plastic and box!!. A large book case that has the screws stripped and can't be fixed, again not wrapped and another A-line shelf unit with screws stripped and can't be repaired AND not wrapped. We paid a lot of money for extra packing and didn't seem to make a difference. Now let's get to the damages to my walls.....I know some minor scrapes are going to happen but when I watch a dolly scrape down the wall and it's not even acknowledged by the mover.. or the 1/2 inch deep gouge in the middle of a wall. As I said, I had 1 out of 3 movers that were capable and professional ( I watched 1 mover walk in twice with 1 pillow each time!!). In setting up this move, I felt good with dealing with the home office, she made me feel like it was a one on one and I could get back with her on any issues. Not so.....When I called the day of the move to question the charges, she was busy...when I called back about damages, she was busy...when we called again because they told us we had 24 hours to go online to report damages, she was busy....To put it simply, I never got to speak with her again and you CANNOT report damages online, they have to email you a for and then mail it in with the picture. A move is never easy and I know things sometimes come up but this company is not professional and I thinks they hide costs that we should be aware of. My moving day was not stress-free at all. I chose this moving company because they had the best pricing but with them you definitely "get what you pay for" and it ends up costing more in the long run....

Master Movers would like to first thank you for your business and for the time you took to write your review, we appreciate it. In reviewing the notes in your order I see the different times that you called in and spoke to customer service, however none of those conversation were regarding the crew moving slow or not performing accordingly. The notice given to you that a second trip was possibly needed shows that our foreman was in communication with you regarding the status of the move as it was being performed. The second trip was not needed per the moving documents however, our office was not notified of any items being left behind. Had we known we would have spoken to the foreman to find out if first it was due to additional items or items that could be top loaded due to safety issues (for the item and movers). Our sales consultants work hard to inform our customers of all of the possibilities that may occur on the day of the move and understanding that it is a lot of information we state all terms and conditions in our Order for Service that is emailed to each individual customer. When or If the information is read over, we cannot control. The Order for Service also lists what items must be packed for safety. It also list what the additional charges are, disconnecting or reconnecting any appliances is something that must be stated at booking so that our crews understand the scope of the needs of the customer. We were not informed that this service was needed for this particular move. Packing supplies are something that are most definitely needed during a residential move, per the moving documents you had some of your packing completed however there was still items that had to be protected. We are very sorry to hear that there were damages during the move however, our office was not notified of any issues other than a mirror. Within the moving documents given to each customer, there are several places that a customer can notated damage (and is required to notate damage at the end of any relocation service) of which there was nothing notated. We will most certainly examine the claim form and resolve any issues stated. Filing a claim on-line is not a service we offer at this time and for the legal integrity of such a sensitive matter we do require claims and images to be sent into the office as it confirms for the customer and all parties involved that the information was delivered to our office. The DOT regulations offer 24hours notice of issues to be made to the carrier and gives a customer 9 months to file their claim. Please understand that with the volume of moves Master Movers books and confirms our Sales Consultants cannot speak to everyone who has an issue during a move which is why we have very knowledgeable customer service department that is available during business hours to handle any issues or concerns for our customers. We also have our dispatch manager on call to speak to any of the foremen while on a move no matter what time it may be. Thank You,

Watch out! Master Movers in Indianapolis is unbelievably unprofessional and unethical - especially the owner Ben Moshe. The movers are creepy, dirty and scary. They drive un-marked trucks (which should have been my red flag). They packed up our house, stored our stuff (supposedly in climate control storage) and moved our stuff into our new house. They just threw everything into boxes (heavy stuff on top of breakables) and hit me up for a cash tip when they finished. It was extremely intimidating considering they wanted 10% of the total cost in cash at midnight when they finished. When we finally got all of our stuff, ALL of our clothing and bedding + every piece of upholstered furniture arrived smelling like mildew, every piece of wood furniture was broken and scratched, dishes, pottery and ceramic pieces were broken, picture frames were broken or scratched and every lamp was bent and broken. The movers scratched up our new wood floors and dinged up the walls when they moved stuff into the new house. Toward the end we told them to just leave items in the garage and driveway to keep them out of the house. 2 of Master Movers trucks arrived with our stuff and we called 1-800 GOT JUNK to dispose of 1 truck load. We had to replace 4 mattresses, 3 couches, dozens of chairs, all of our bedding and towels, all of our kids stuffed animals, all of our rugs and tons of clothing. Our wood furniture might as well be fire wood now because it all needs to be replaced. To add insult to injury they stole our large screen TV and now won't return our calls.

For someone who does reviews and marketing for a living you definitely know the power of the bad review that you posted. So in response I would like to tell the complete story about your move, and to prove it I have added what you and/or Marc had to say about Master Movers. On 05.16.13 The Zucker Family contacted Master Movers asking for a price to move their home. On 05.22.13 Benjamin visited their home to provide the estimate for the house only. On 06.11.13 Master Movers arrived in the morning with 2 trucks (26 Ft and about 5 movers) we did some of the packing of the boxes and the wrapping to protect all the furniture. We also labeled all the items that were picked up from their home. Yes when you move from state to state the moving company has to make a list of everything that is moved and at the delivery the customer can check that everything has arrived and in the same condition as it was at the pickup location. Several weeks after the move for the house, Marc the husband contacted Benjamin stating that he has an office to be moved. However, after receiving the price for moving the office he decided to sell everything that he had in the office and he also referred Master Movers to the business that bought his office furnishings. So when we moved the furniture from his office for this company Marc ask Benjamin if he could just add a couple of things. Well I felt like since he helped me to get the move for the office furniture he was selling I could help him out, so I said no problem. The couple of things turned out to be 30 items (a mix with boxes, painting and one TV) not only did we not charge for it but we also delivered all of the items including the TV. The owner of Master Movers would not return my call or answer emails. Once you book and what ever you do not pay them in cash. Pay by bank card or credit card and pay the 4 % for using your card. Big mistake I made. The movers broke one of our draws on cabinet and did not tell anyone. The movers did not pack the truck right, so not all my stuff was move to our new house. The truck gate on the truck was not working that day and this cause me to pay more for the mover because their truck was not in work condution. The mover moved one box at a time and I had around 100 boxes. They could not use their dolly due to the fact the lift gate was unable to be used. Had I paid them with a card I could have stop pay on them. This is why they keep telling you to pay with cash. Their is a resaon they are B on Angie's list for a reason. They really need to be a F in my view.

Not all my contents fit on the truck they chose. They had to send 30 items a week later. This meant they had to move my items several times and there was some damage due to all the handling. They have been responsive but it was not a good experience overall.

First of all, I would like to thank you for your business. In respond to your statement that some of the items didn't get put on the first truck, your move was a large job and you also chose to do the packing of your boxes. Sometimes it can happen that the customer packs a little more boxes than what was put on the original estimate. However, a few little items can create a situation where we need to ship the additional items on a second truck. After reviewing your paper work I also found that we didn’t charge any additional fees that were not brought to your attention. In regards to the damage, I am sorry if you have damages but please understand that the insurance for any moving company will not take responsibility for boxes a customer packs it is considered “PBO” (which means Packed By Owner) however, if it is something that our company packed then the insurance will cover it (whether it is your additional moving policy or the valuation coverage). We arranged for 3 movers to come to our home, they confirmed the day prior & they called to provide their arrival time the day of. Upon arrival, the lead mover looked visibly exhausted & shared that he 'hadn't slept in over 24 hours. When I asked for more information, he said he and the second guy on the team just drove from Kansas City back to Fishers on an overnight trip to do a move. I asked if they were okay and they began moving our items. I was hesitant but since we closing our house the next day I didn't have any other choice but to proceed. About 90 minutes into the move, both men had mentioned multiple times how tired they are, how they are "running on empty today' or how they 'just don't have the energy today'. I questioned why the company would send me lethargic workers (not in these exact words) but they said they were helping a buddy and it had to get done. A few minutes later a rep from the company called to see how the move was going. I stepped away to explain my concerns- 1. That they weren't moving very quickly and 2. That I was afraid they might hurt themselves due to their exhaustion. I expressed that I will proceed with the move today but would like to discuss it further in a few days. She said she understood my position and noted our account. We provided the men with food & drinks during the entire day including pizza for lunch as they didn't bring anything with them to eat/drink & it was 95 degrees the day we moved. I didn't think twice about it either- they were working hard but just not what I expected for what I had to pay. At the end of the day the lead mover wrote on our invoice '30 minute lunch' and didn't charge for the time. Later, when discussing this with the account rep, she said the company viewed it as a deduction/discount for the time they were there. I was shocked. Once we were finished, we did had to pay overtime (partially our responsibility for having so much stuff) but I explained to the company, I feel as though a half way rested team could have moved more efficiently and not required as much time for the move. The end result: After the account manager, Jennifer, spoke to her boss they did NOT provide us any discount for the lethargic team or a future incentive to use their company for our next move. I explained we're building a house and will need to move again in December. Steer clear of this company. In addition, ask any moving company in advance if your hired team will be well rested upon arrival. It will be my first question upon hiring a new moving company in a few months.

Master Movers handles 3000 customers a year and has been in business for over 10 years. Our clientele ranges from high profile celebrities to the guy next door. However, we understand that every move is not going to be picture perfect. This particular move provided a few challenges for our moving professional that we feel were handled very professional and in a timely manner according to the details of the move. We quoted our non-binding estimate which is based off of the customers list of items. Please understand that we have to trust our customers to be accurate with the items they need moved. This enables us to first and foremost send the correct number of movers in order to do the job safely and efficiently. When we arrived to the customers home the piece count went from 50 items to nearly 200, which most certainly increased the time our movers would spend on the job and the cost. The DOT (Department of Transportation) sets guidelines regarding time a mover and driver can be on a job or on the road. We pay close attention and adhere to the rules and regulations of the DOT for the safety of our employees. If a driver/mover came in off of a job and has been sent out to a new one you can rest assured that they are within those time limits. Our goal is to move every one of our customers in a timely, efficient manner with no damages and per the customers signed documents with no listed damages we feel our movers did a good job.

The move started off well. We chose this company because of the low cost estimate. The crew who arrived, on time, to pack our possessions into their truck was professional, courteous and friendly. They arrived when they were due and took only a few hours to pack our stuff. We had advised the company that we would arrive in 3 days in Key West and wanted our possessions delivered at that time. When that day came and went, and the next and the next, a call to the company office advised us that we were told they could take up to 21 BUSINESS DAYS after our arrival date to make delivery. We were NEVER told this and would not have contracted with this company had we known this. In subsequent calls to the office over the next several weeks, we were told either nothing, or that the moving crew would be at the office the next day to start the trip down to FL. The stories by the women in the front office varied and were never accurate. We were finally connected to a person in Logistics named Luis, who at least would give us accurate information of where our possessions were and when they would arrive. They finally arrived at 6 pm on the 21st business day after our arrival. The crew who unloaded our things was also professional and courteous. On the day our things were packed, one-half of the agreed-upon amount was due and we gave them a cashier's check from the local bank, which they accepted. On the delivery date down in FL I called the office to confirm they would accept our second cashier's check in the same amount. I was told they would NOT. They would accept only cash or a postal money order. We were now stuck with coming up with over $600 cash at short notice, and have the further problem of now trying to cancel our cashier's check and get the money back on it. The entire experience with the office has been frustrating and I expect to make many more moves in the future as this was a military transfer. I will never use this company again. The women I have dealt with in the office are very unprofessional, uncaring and very untruthful.

An investigation of all notes pertaining to your account indicate that you contacted departments such as sales. Unfortunately these departments had limited access to dispatch and delivery times. This is the first time I have ever used a moving company. The 2 men they sent to do the moving were polite. There were a few boxes that were turned upside down that should not have been. Once everything was moved, I wasn't feeling well and had to take some time off from unpacking/moving. A few days later, my son asked me about a piece of jewelry I owned. I began to look through the boxes to find the jewelry. I cannot find the jewelry. There is a larger carry bag of jewelry and bag of collector's coins that I had received from my mother and father that are missing. Both bags were in the same box, and the whole box is missing. The 2 men that moved me (C. Groon, and Alfredo) got away with a lot of my personal items, that I planned to hand down to my children, because of these two missing bags. I have contacted the company about this, but the movers have said they did not take it, and there is no "proof" of their existence. I just want to let everyone else know about this company.
Description of Work: I had them move me from my old apartment to my new apartment.

I am sorry to hear about the loss that you have had. Master Movers has a very detailed way of doing our moves. Our customer's are asked to check the truck at the end of the move and then sign off on it showing that all items had been removed. After reviewing the contract we show that this was signed. Then when the trucks report back to the office they are checked again by management to ensure that no items are left. Our report shows that the truck was free of any personal belongings. We have requested that there be a police report filed. At this time we have not heard anymore. Also, before we do any hiring we do an extensive background check on all employees as well as drug screening. If there is any more that Master Movers can assist in resolving this matter please let us know.
