After doing some research I've decided to go with Lawn Pride to take care of my yard. They were not the cheapest but sounded reasonable to me. I think they invest their money wisely on very well done ads and their website is great, I liked the fact that they had online account management. So far they have done two applications and a service call. On all of the occasions the tech was very professional and seamed knowledgeable about what he was doing. On the service call I had them coming over to check on some ‘not so green’ areas in my front yard. I opened the service call on Sunday and on Tuesday the tech went out there and checked the yard. He left a printed note on the front door with his evaluation. What he found out made a lot of sense, I could see he really looked through by the level of details that he reported. I am not sure if this will continue, but so far it is always the same tech which is nice because he knows exactly what he did last time and why he did.

Requested a quote for a lawn aeration last fall and they wanted about $200 more than the person I ended up having do it. This spring received they called me four days in a row without leaving a message; I finally answered this past Friday and talked about signing up for their weeding/bug spray services. Was interested at first and told him I would look over our monthly budget and get back with him. The person I was speaking with took an incredulous, annoyed tone and said "I don't know what else there could be holding you back, you've got nothing to lose." Again, I reiterated that I needed to look over my budget and he pushed a little more then acted like he was annoyed I wasn't purchasing right away. He seemed to forget that he was the one that called me, on my weekend personal time with my family. I didn't apprecciate the combative tone to my questions and the tone he took after I said I needed to think about it. Will not consider doing business with them in the future. I'm sure to many people this is overly sensitive but there are dozens of lawn care companies out there in Indianapolis so I don't feel the need to put up with the bad attitude; I value courtesy from the people I choose to do business with.
Description of Work: None-- overpriced and unpleasant to speak with.

Our yard took a big hit the year we had severe drought. We decided to have a lawn service the following year. We looked into several services and decided on Lawn Pride as we saw what a great job they were doing with a neighbor's yard. We have been very pleased with the service and will continue to use them.
Description of Work: We have used Lawn Pride for the last 2 years. I think they are reasonable in comparison to others that we looked into. We have been very happy with the end result of our yard. It is worth the money to not have the hassel to do this ourselves when my husband travels extensively.

I contacted the provider electronically via their website about providing these services. I received a very prompt reply from them via email. This was my request so as not to have our baby disturbed at naptime with a phone call. I was very pleased that they respected and honored this request. Having a young child in the home, I was dreading trying to find a service provider for this problem and wanted as little hassle as possible to get it taken care of. I was very pleasantly surprised that they were also able to provide an estimate without having to make an appointment to come out to the home. They were able to verify the size of our property via map and give me an instant estimate. This was a huge bonus for me- I was not looking forward to scheduling an appointment for someone to come out and look at our property, etc. I was also pleased that they would be able to treat both the lawn and the perimeter of the home. We had initially contacted a pest control company that we had used previously, but they would only treat the perimeter and we would still need someone to come spray the lawn to completely resolve the issue. So we were able to save well over $100 on the cost of the perimeter treatment by having Lawn Pride do both when they came out for the lawn. My only complaint or disappointment was how long it took to actually get the job done. When you have these little pests invading at most every window in your home, every day feels like an eternity. When I contacted them to schedule the appointment, I was told it was going to be the following week. And they were unable to tell me what day even, since it would be part of their route that would have to be planned so that they could work on one side of town at a time and cut down on travel. I wasn't thrilled with that, but I understood. However, it wasn't until the following Thursday that I heard back from them about the appointment. I received a call that day to tell me that it was going to be the following Monday before they would be out due to a truck breaking down. They did show up the following Monday and completed the service. I do wish that they could have given me a better time window for the day of service. We have outdoor pets that had to be locked up for the day, and of course they did not come until later in the day. In the end, they did take care of our clover mites and I am happy to rid of the pests.
Description of Work: We had approximately one acre of lawn and the perimeter of our home treated with insecticide for clover mites.

lawn treatment, irrigation systems

Last September/October I contacted several landscaping companies to get a quote for installation of a residential irrigation system, this was one of the companies. The quote was to first see how much money I needed to have and second to see what would be done. In September, I was pretty much ignorant about irrigation systems. So I contacted them to get the quote. They pretty much said a certain person would have to do it and they would get back to me. In the meantime they tried to sell me their residential lawn fertilizer program. I basically told them no. I did not hear from them again until I got a mailing from them in March 2012. They never followed up on the quote. I basically threw the mailing away. Then the other day I got a second mailing from them trying to fertilize my yard. Still nothing on the irrigation quote. Then more recently I got a telephone call from Kevin trying to sell me the fertilization program. Nothing was said about the irrigation quote. I basically told Kevin no after asking him several questions. I called back because I remembered why I had contacted them in the first place. (I kind of let things go after September and forgot about the situation on the irrigation quote seeing as they were among many who did not follow up.) I left a message basically stating that I never recieved a follow up to the quote for the irrigation system. Now today, a so-called upper management person called me. His name was Tim. He claimed they were in transition back in Sept/Oct and the outgoing landscape architect dropped the ball on the situation. I basically told him that as I company I could not trust him to do business with him again. He tried to sell me even more by stating that if there was anything he could do in the future. Again selling to a customer who has already told him that 1) they don't trust their company to do the work as stated and 2) I stated I would not do business with that company anytime in the future. The big thing about him saying if there was anything he could do in the future was that he followed that up with we don't usually do residential landscape design. He not only said he would 15 seconds before that now he was saying he didn't do it. Oh he also tried to get my business for startup blowout and inspections for the irrigation system Quite honestly, I would just rather stay away from this landscape company. For a resolution to those landscape companies that never followed up, I am currently set to put my Residential Irrigation System in on July 6th, 2012, the date I scheduled to rent a trencher. (although I will have everything to put the irrigation system in on June 20, 2012). I will be putting the system in on my own.

Response from Lawn Pride Inc
In response to this posting, here is what we found in reviewing the account history: On October 17th 2011, the member submitted a request for an estimate for irrigation services. Lawn Pride certainly dropped the ball by not promptly following up with the member. Though no excuse, at that time our company was in the process of transitioning away from residential landscaping services such as irrigation installation – and focusing on our residential lawn care and fertilization program. During a personnel transition, the responsibility of follow-up slipped through the cracks. Because his contact information was in our database due to the estimate request, the member was included in our spring marketing campaign highlighting the lawn fertilization program – both brochures mailed to his home and phone calls from our sales team. As his review outlined, the member called our office and spoke with Kevin on April 3rd 2012, to state we had never followed up on his original estimate request for landscaping. As he was justifiably upset, the situation was elevated to Tim Lundsford, Lawn Pride’s Sales Manager. Tim followed up with the member the same day to apologize for our mistake, and to explain that since his original request in October, the company had transitioned away from residential landscaping services such as irrigation installation. Tim did not try to sell additional services at that time. However, he did express his hope that the member would keep us in mind if in the future he needed the services we currently offer, including residential lawn care and fertilization and opening/closing inspections of irrigation systems that are already installed. Lawn Pride strives to provide the highest levels of quality and customer service, and we are very sorry to hear of the member’s dissatisfaction with his experience. Lawn Pride apologizes for not following up in October and for the confusion and any miscommunication regarding the services we offer.

The only thing I use the pest control is for my lawn care. They have a service where they do pest control for the lawn. I would recommend their services. Overall they are very good. Price wise they are not bad but I have not compared them. They pre-schedule so punctuality, it is hard to say. I will continue to use them in the future.

Response from Lawn Pride Inc
In response to this posting, here is what we found in reviewing the account history: The first year, the customer had his back yard seeded. We cannot apply pre-emergent weed control or crabgrass control after an area is seeded, as it will kill the new seed. The ultimate solution for weed control is a healthy, thick lawn – and reseeding a thin area is a crucial first step. However, it is not possible to control and eliminate weeds for the near future following a re-seeding. Our lawn techs are able to treat 1000 square feet per minute, because the spreader’s distribution area is 10 feet wide. This enables them to treat a lawn of the customer’s size in only a matter of minutes. There were notes on the customer’s account detailing that the lawn must be treated after 1 PM only, and that he should receive a call-ahead. Though we certainly made mistakes by arriving earlier than the customer had requested, there were other occasions where we arrived to find locked gates and the dog still in the yard. We are very sorry to hear of this client's dissatisfaction with his service. Our lawn care program is fully guaranteed for customers receiving 5 or more application, as was the case with him. If he had called with his concerns, we would have scheduled a free service call to assess the lawn’s problem and re-apply free of charge, as often as needed. When we spray weeds or crabgrass, we expect the weeds to die and crabgrass growth to slow. However, since our lawn technicians are only on the lawn every 4-6 weeks, we do rely on our customers communicating to us between treatments when they see problems arise and persist. Lawn Pride welcomes the opportunity to resolve this issue, both in the customer’s experience and the lawn’s conditions.

I am shopping around to compare prices for 2012. So far, Lawn Pride has a good price. We also have been very happy with them in the past....anytime I have had an issue, they have come back out to re-treat. The person who treats our trees is very nice and does a great job of taking down birdfeeders or collecting the dog toys before spraying - she is awesome! The Angieslist score on some other lawn companies were not that great...so out of curiosity, I wanted to see what Lawn Pride's grade was....it shows a "B". This surprise me as they have been great for us....so I wanted to post an "A" report for them. We have used them since 2009.

This was a horrible experience. The prior owner paid the 2011 season, so it was no cost to us. We moved here in April. We never knew when the company was coming. There was never a phone call. Sometimes we'd see them outback doing whatever it was they were doing that day. I would find a tag on the door saying they had come at a certain time with notes to water at such and such a time and not to let pets out. Of course not knowing they had come, my dog had been out in the back yard a couple of times. I was told managers would call, but more than a week would go by, and I would have to call back. No one ever seemed to know what they were talking about. We were told we had a certain weed infestation, then we were told we didn't. We were told we had grubs, then we were told we didn't, then we were told we did. We ended up losing half our back yard and part of the side yard when all was said and done. The company did come out to aerate and seed the back yard, but it was the end of the season with little time for the grass to take. They never seeded the side yard. They said they wouldn't, then they would but by then it was too late with the frost coming in. Of course they seeded all my flower beds, so now I have grass I'm going to have to weed out in the spring. First we were told we'd have to pay for the aeration and seeding, but then we were told by someone else we wouldn't have to because we had gotten their grub protection. Of course the paperwork said the seeding wasn't guaranteed, so next spring we'll have to reseed it ourselves at our cost. We have bald spots here and there, and the grass is sparse in places. Of course it's growing beautifully in my flower beds!! We bought a home with a beautiful yard, and it's an utter disappointment. Had we just taken care of it ourselves, it would have stayed beautiful. We took the Lawn Pride contract into consideration with the purchase price of the home, so it wasn't totally free. Our mistake. I wish we had just fired them and taken over ourselves. I trusted them to have an expertise, and they failed miserably. To be fair, there was one person who seemed to know what he was doing. The guy who told us we had grubs in the first place. When he did our final fertilization for the season, he couldn't believe what we had been through to finally get our lawn taken care of, and he couldn't believe what our lawn had become. Even he was appalled. One of my neighbors had thought to use the company, but word is spreading through our neighborhood to run as far away from this company as possible.

Response from Lawn Pride Inc
In response to this posting... After reviewing the account here is what I found. The previous homeowner prepaid for one year's service on this account. Lawn Pride was not notified that there was a new homeowner - all account phone numbers were in the previous owners name. We make every attempt to call ahead customers that request this option but the previous owner had not requested this feature. Grub control was applied on May 19th, 2011 - this is a preventative treatment that is guaranteed and we stand behind it 100%. On August 11th, 2011 the customer called our office to inform us that they had grub damage. We immediately scheduled a service call for a manager to visit the property for an assessment and he applied Dylox which is a "rescue product" and will stop any further damage. From there we received a call from the Mrs. on September 13th, 2011 to notify us that they had additional grub problems. Upon a revisit of the property - we talked with the customer on the lawn and there were no active grubs. The lawn was in need of aeration and overseeding which we offered at no additional charge per our guarantee. These notes were documented and an aeration and overseeding was scheduled. The error that occurred was that the manager that scheduled this service indicated back lawn only - which this should have been an entire lawn aeration and overseeding. Customer called and let us know that we had made this mistake. We promptly scheduled to the do the remainder of the lawn and the customer called on October 4th, 2011 and said it was to late in the season and not to provide this service. We record all phone calls and I am disappointed that there were no calls were customer made us aware of their frustrations with not being called ahead or anything beyond the active grub issues. We make every attempt to satisfy all of our customers. We did not have the opportunity to fufill the aeration and overseeding on the remainder of the lawn as the customer asked we not complete. As far of the the comment on the seed in the flower beds - we were not notified. The timing of this service was right in line with Fall Aeration and Overseding guidelines. A call has been placed to the family's house to find out how we can make this right.

I’ve used them for several years. They charged me approximately $50 for their services. My lawn just went down and the whole time it was getting worse and worse. I asked them not to come during July and August, and they would always call in August before they could come. The last time they called and came anyway. So that was the drawback and they came back. They came in August and called it the fall application. It was very hot and I didn’t want anything put on my lawn, and I had told them that in the very beginning. They always wanted to do it anyway. Their price was okay. They were okay on responsiveness. I will not use their services again in the future if I need to.

They do monthly lawn service. They were okay but it wasn’t like they were excellent. I would probably go with them next year and give them one more year to see how they do. I wasn’t thoroughly impressed with them in the first year. They were supposed to call before they came so that I could unlock the back gate and half the time I didn’t get phone calls. Sometimes I would and it just feels like sometimes they would come out and I didn’t know they were coming out. It just seemed like we had some issues this summer. I can’t even remember specific details. I paid them per application and it was $53 and with the other companies we have had they might have been $2-3 higher but it is not enough to be worried about. It is not that I can necessarily pin point something but I don’t feel like we really connected. They weren’t terrible. I had only one lawn company and they were a little higher than them. We had some broad leaved weeds which should have been taken care of. It is the first year and I am not sure what to expect. It should have been taken care of better.

My husband and I had been trying to work on our lawn to remove crab grass and dandilions for a few years now. The lawn had not had much attention prior to our living here so it was showing the signs. It was overwhelming for us, and we were not having much luck with the DIY treatments. A couple that we know had been in our shoes and had discussed how they had used Lawn Pride. They were happy with the service and had gotten good results with the appearance of their lawn. I checked out Lawn Pride out on Angies List which also was a good reference. I called the company, and it sent someone out the next week to start the fall treatments. We can see that the weeds are drying up but will not be able to really have results until next year. So far, Lawn Pride has given us good service, have shown up for all of the treatments for this year, and have left detailed comments on what was done as well as notes on anything that we need to do.
Description of Work: The service performed was spraying our lawn to removed weeds, and we also had the airation.

They have done a decent job the past two years, but this summer or lawn looked terrible. We have a sprinkler system so the lawn was getting plenty of water. When it got really hot the lawn looked the worst because they didn't order the fertilization and weed prevention mixture that could be used in the extremely high temperatures until it was too late. We had a lot of weeds, clovers and crabgrass. Our neighbor doesn't use anything and his lawn looked better than ours. I think I'll save the $300-400 next season or buy my own from Lowe's and see what happens. If that doesn't work I'll likely give them another shot as their prices and their service seem to be on par or better than the other companies in the area.
Description of Work: Lawnpride has been doing our fertilization and weed prevention for 3 summer seasons now. Additionally, we've had them do a perimeter spray twice a season (early spring and late summer) to keep the ants and spiders from getting inside.

Used them for fertilization and weed control. Weed control they used didn't kill weeds, didn't do anything. Complained and they sent for reapplication. stll no effect. cancelled the service , offered a free service. Did the application and charged for it although told me that I'll be not charged. Cancelled the charge after complaining again. But overall, not worth paying or even trying.
Description of Work: Used them for fertilization and weed control. Had signed up for five applications of weed control and fertilization from Spring through the year

I've been using this service this year and have been very pleased, especially since they were able to rid my lawn of moles. I would recommend them as they will set up their service to meet your needs. If you need something extra or want to back off on part of the service, they are very flexible in this area.
Description of Work: I requested full service from this company this year. They have done the aeriating, overseeding and monthly maintenance. I also had a mole problem and found this to be the only provider for treatment of mole infestation.

I gave complete and total control of all lawn and fertilizer services to Lawn Pride. I was not always clear on what/why the services they performed were, but I trusted them to manage my lawn and make it look great! For two seasons they did well. This year, they have totally missed the mark, and my lawn looks absolutely HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. And I am totally heartbroken. I have gone from one of the nicest lawns on the block to the worst. I have canceled my service with Lawn Pride, because for two seasons I have never questioned their cost or frequency of service. They come to my home very frequently to do one thing or another and the cost for their services is not inexpensive. I have never questioned them or complained as long as my yard looked well. I was told that the reason my lawn looks so HORRIBLE this season is because my grass has contracted a fungas, common to lawns like mine (new home construction lawns) that could have come from too much water, dirty lawn mower blades and several other possibilities were listed. I am just so confused as to what they do all the times they come out and charge me for this service and that, that they were not able to anticipate, safeguard and ultimately prevent the devastation that has taken over my lawn. I know they are not GODs, and they can't be held responsible for all the things that can go wrong with my lawn, but I would have expected them to do better than they have done, especially considering the frequent treatments they give my lawn. I have never asked questions, never complained about the cost, and in exchange I had expectations of a vibrant and healthy lawn. Whatever it is they do, it is not enough to prevent my lawn from dying, which is simply unacceptable and very sad.
Description of Work: A multitude of services were provided. Fertilizations, aerations, grub and other "pests" control, irrigation services.

They are a very good service and a company we can count on. Our yard is beautiful and I'm so proud of it. I notice it still with pleasure each time we pull into the drive. Their price was very reasonable and the compliments from neighbors still come in. We are very happy with them and will continue to use them ongoing.
Description of Work: We've hired them for routine lawn maintenance for awhile and two years ago we also hired them to design and provide landscaping service for us as well. Our lawn looks great.

I contacted Lawn Pride because a neighbor had used their services for the past year. I was not particularly impressed with the neighbor's lawn; however, I was specifically looking for someone to aerate and overseed based on the hot and dry summer last year. I spoke with Kevin. He explained the services offered by the company, and I said I was only interested in the aeration and overseed. Because I was a referral, I could get the first application of lawn treatment for half price. This was the only reason I agreed to do so. Kevin explained that, weather permitting, they would be out sometime that week. I tried to ask Kevin about a specific "bad grass" that is growing in the yard. He kept cutting me off trying to say that if it started growing under a bird feeder, then it was definitely related. If he had bothered to listen to me and let me explain, he would have understood that it had nothing to do with the bird feeder. The guy came and sprayed the yard, then it rained within a few hours. The lawn looked worse that it ever has. I then waited, and waited, and waited for the aeration and overseeding to be done. Kevin told me it would be done within a week and a half of our inital call. I waited over two weeks from the call, and it still had not been completed. I then called to see when they would be out. I spoke to a female customer service rep. She said that she had tried to call us, but was unable to leave a message on our home number. We have a machine as well as caller id, and the company number was not on caller id. I also asked why she did not leave a message on the alternate work number I had left, and she said that because it didn't say my name on the voice mail service that she would not leave a message. Seems to me that if I left that number as an alternate number then it is okay to leave info on the voice mail. I explained that I only wanted the aeration and seeding and otherwise wanted to cancel our account. She said that I couldn't cancel at that time if I still wanted the aeration and that I would have to call back after it was completed. I thought that was absurd, so I decided to cancel immediately. She tried to argue with me, and within ten minutes of hanging up, Kevin was then calling me. Bottom line, I felt that Kevin spoke down to me, was unprofessional, and assumed that I knew nothing about lawn services and/or how to take care of a lawn. I should have went with my gut instict based on that first call and just said, "No thanks" and looked for a different company.
Description of Work: First application of the year for lawn treatment. Also wanted services for lawn aeration and re-seeding/overseeding for bare spots.

I cancelled their services and went with another company. I paid about $52 an application. I had some problem areas in my front yard where the grass died off and they came out and actually put several applications down. I needed the applications because I was going to put some new seed down in the yard and they put a pre-emergent pesticide down and it killed the grass seed, so I felt that they should have talked to me before they put their applications down. In the past I did not have any problems with them and it was just this year when I had the dead grass that I had concerns with. I would tell others to shop around for a smaller company that will talk to them before they put their applications down. It was hard because they used to come at their own time and I would probably not use them again.
Description of Work: I used to use Lawn Pride Inc. for years for lawn fertilization. The last time I used them was in February or March.
