Description of Work: We had a mold and ventilation problem. In the fall of 2004 we had a new furnace and A/C unit installed. Also a humidifier was installed. In the Spring of 2005 we had a new roof,gutters, and soffit installed. A year later we noticed that there were dark spots on our ceilings, and couldn't figure out what it was. The roofing company came back and painted the dark spots. This did not fix the problem. The roofing company came out a couple of years later and couldn't figure out what was causing the problem. We called four more contractors and none of them could find the root of the problem. We called our insurance company and they sent out an independent engineer to see if he could figure out what was going on with the roof. He did some testing of the humidity in the house and found out that the humidity was 75 - 80 %. He told us that there was not sufficient ventilation in the roof. In his educated guess, he thought it was due to the ventilation. But it still was not the root cause. | |After we got the independent consultant's result, we started looking for another contractor. My wife found JRD on Angie's List and we called. Jim from JRD came out checked out the roof and the crawl space and found the root cause of the problem. The heating and A/C contractor ran the drain from the humidifier directly into the crawl space instead of into a sewer pipe for drainage. The water from the humidifier plus the ventilation problem was causing mold to build up on the rafters and the roof decking and causing the dark spots on the ceilings. Jim from JRD asked who our insurance company was and I told him. He said no problem and would get in touch with the adjustor. After Jim talked with the adjustor they worked out all the details. When all was said and done, we got a complete new roof, insulation, and a new furnace. Jim at JRD was the only one out of contractors that figured out what the cause was and was able to fix the problem within 3 weeks. I highly recommend JRD for any construction jobs you may need. JRD was very professional, courteous, and on time with all their work. On a five star rating JRD gets a Five Star Rating.

Description of Work: I hired him for custom cabinets for my kitchen. When he came to pick up the down payment, he presented me with a bill for $350 for labor at $50 an hour to locate someone to build cabinets. I couldn't figure out why he couldn't just call people which is what I asked him do. He had the cabinet maker put 5 skins on the cabinets that weren't needed and I'm still waiting for 3 skins that I was promised and paid for and haven't seen yet.
