Very professional, yet friendly and informal. She explained all elements of the appraisal process as it progressed, plus photographed my jewelry and cleaned it. We sat across a desk from each other and I could observe the entire process. She provided recommendations for a jeweler to repair a vintage watch and also a jeweler to create a new setting for a diamond ring - very helpful Office is easy to find, plenty of free parking. She gives a 10% discount for Angie's List members. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience. She appraised the items quickly and thoroughly providing all I needed for insurance scheduled property. You are able to see your items at all times. We were there approximatly an hour for her to complete the work. Would highly recommend.

Catherine is very professional and extremely personable. I felt at ease the moment I entered her office. She discussed different levels/types of appraisal she could perform (individually documented appraisals with photographs for insurance purposes, opposed to bulk appraisals indicating the scrap value of the gold for immediate liquidation purposes). Obviously the individual appraisals take longer and cost more due to the time involved. I chose the detailed appraisal and was not disappointed. She carefully inspected, measured stones, and weighed each piece. She wrote detailed descriptions and took pictures of each. She then presented me with a packet that included an individual appraisal for each item and gave me a second copy for my insurance company. I like the fact that she performed this service in my presence. I even came back the next day for her to finish the last 6 items (I had more pieces than we allowed time for the first visit). I will definitely use her services again.

She is very personable and friendly, and a joy to talk to. We had to reschedule several times because of weather, but she is very flexible and willing to accomodate. She also wanted to teach us about our jewelry and answered all of our questions. I especially appreciate being able to have my items appraised while I waited, in her presence, so that I knew my items were safe. She explained about the appraisal, and gave us other documentation for the insurance company. Since we had so many items to be appraised, she charged us by the hour - $125 per hour. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience, without any fear or tension or worry that I was being had or ripped off. She does not buy or sell jewelry, so she is completely objective.

I was anxious bringing in some jewelry that I had inherited - Catherine made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. She was extremely knowledgeable - honest - and not out to try and sell you anything. She seems to know everyone and was able to recommend other providers that buy and sell different types of jewelry. She even made a call for me while I was there and I was able to get an appointment directly after my meeting with her. She really was great and I highly recommend her service.

Upon Jewelry Judge's arrival I handed her two small boxes containing a miscellaneous assortment of jewelry. She set to work very quietly while another person in the living room was appraising my paintings. An hour or so later when Jewelry Judge completed her viewing of all the pieces of jewelry she called me over and pointed out the assortment of valued jewelry that was separated from the costume jewelry. She then said that she would complete her appraisal in her office and send me a final accounting along with her statement for services rendered.

Catherine did an excellent job of appraising my wife's engagement ring and wedding band. Having an appointment allowed for timely one one service where Catherine was able to educate while working.

Catherine Folger is highly recommended, easy to set up an appointment. She was very professional. She explained what the cost would be (very reasonable) and explained the different type of diamond cuts, facet arrangement and how they were appraised - color, clarity, etc. In the process, she cleaned the rings, measured and determined the ct. weight, took photos of each ring and prepared a written appraisal report for insurance reasons. This all happened while we were in her office talking to her.

I contacted another appraiser, who referred me to the Jewelry Judge. I scheduled an appointment. She inspected the watch and determined that while it is somewhat old, it did not have much value. Therefore, an official appraisal for insurance purposes was not warranted. Her normal rate was $45 (or $125/hr if you have more than one item). She did not charge me because the watch wasn't really worth it. It was nice to sit there with the items rather than drop it off as with many other jewelry appraisers. She also was kind enough to give my daughter a play necklace to occupy her while we waited.

I went to the Jewelry Judge as a result of a personal referral. The owner, Catherine Folger, told me that her fee was $125/hour. I had a small box of what I suspected was mostly costume jewelry. Catherine confirmed that there was little of tangible value there except for three small gold chains. She calculated their approximate value and recommended someone she considered fair and honest to buy the gold, and even called him to make an introduction. Because of the limited value of the items, she did not charge me. I really appreciated her considerateness and would defintely go to her to appraise jewelry in the future.

We found Catherine (The Jewelry Judge) on Angie's List. The only reservation I had was that there was only 1 review, though it was positive. Well, Catherine did a "super job". We brought numerous items for her to appraise, from an 80 year old strand of pearls, to diamond rings (some equally as old, and some not so old), and gold necklaces. She impressed me as knowing her business very well. Considering what we brought in, she separated the items by value which was set based on our insurance coverage/deductible. This saved some time and I'm sure, some money. I very much liked the idea that she was not in the jewelry sales business, so there was no conflict of interest. She did everything right in front of us. The jewelry never left our sight. I thought the only choice I had for an appraisal was to go to a jewelry store, so I'm very glad I found Catherine. I would highly recommend using her services should you need an appraisal, so much so, that I have another appointment with her for next week to appraise some things which we forgot to bring in for our initial appraisal. When you are finished, she gives you a document describing the piece and its appraised value. I am very pleased with her services and I believe it was money well spent. Very professional. You won't be disappointed.

We carried in boxes of jewelry, since we really couldn't tell the real from the costume. She was very helpful, going through all of it and sorting it out. She answered all of our questions about jewelry and gemstones. She was very professional and personable.
